We used Johnny Cab due to all the great Yelp reviews, but this review is really closer to 3.5 stars. Nonetheless, his service was fine, but there is definitely room for improvement and we used another taxi service for our last ride which was a much better experience. We prearranged for Johnny Cab to pick us up at the airport after our flight from OGG to HNL. Unfortunately, our short flight was almost an hour late, and his colleague, Wasa, waited patiently for us until we retrieved all our luggage. His car was on the older side, but Wasa was very patient and an excellent and safe driver. Since our flight arrived so late, it took us around an hour to get to our hotel in Waikiki since we had hit rush hour. Because of this, we of course gave Wasa a very decent tip, but he deserved it due to all the inconveniences our delayed flight created and his professionalism when driving. Because of this, we decided to use Johnny Cab again the next day when we needed a ride from our hotel in Waikiki to our new hotel in Ko Olina. This time we were picked up by Johnny, who graciously came 30 minutes earlier than our scheduled pick-up time at 1:15pm, per our request. Unfortunately, the things I didn't like so much about Johnny was that he drove a little aggressively, almost tailgating another driver. Albeit this driver was in the fast lane, it wasn't something I expected from someone who drives for a living, and we never said we were in any rush to get to our destination. He also got visibly angry at some jaywalkers. I get it, when I drive and people jaywalk and block my car, I get mad too, but I also don't drive patrons for a living. Finally, we tried to make conversation with him, but the vibe overall was really off. It's hard to explain and maybe our personalities didn't mesh, but it was reason enough where we decided not to use his services again for our final ride. The other tax company we used to take us on our final day from Ko Olina to HNL was much more professional. You can see my review of them as well. When booking with this new taxi company, we received an email and text confirmation right after we booked our appointment. We didn't get any type of confirmation from Johnny Cab. Also, with the other taxi company, we also received a link by text so we can track our driver when he was on our way to us. Finally, the morning we were about to leave (at around 5am - our pick-up time was at 6am), we received a final text confirmation that our driver was coming. He even came 30 minutes early. After using the other taxi service, who charged the exact same price as Johnny Cab, I definitely won't be using Johnny Cab again and would rather use a more established and reputable taxi company. I think Johnny Cab is just a 1 or 2 man show, while the other taxi company has a fleet of over 100 taxis. Maybe we just got a good driver for our other taxi company, but they just seemed more professional overall. read more

I went with Johnny Cab last minute due to Go808 being out of available times. From the moment I picked them to me getting dropped off, everything went smoothly and as planned. I called 24 hours before my flight was to land and set up a pick up time. Johnny was clear and courteous with instructions on where we should meet him. Our communication consisted of just texting and he was very good at responding in a timely manner. He checked our flight time and was there when we landed. He was easy to spot and we were dropped off at our Airbnb in no time. Setting up the drop off back to airport was also smooth sailing. About two hours before, I had asked to switch the pick up location to a block away and Johnny was able to make it work. This time we had another driver who worked with him, Kenji. He was absolutely delightful. A fun person to chat with during our ride and we learned quite a bit from him about Hawaii and Oahu during. We got to our airport perfectly on time with no hiccups. The first taxi company we booked to drive us to the airport never showed up and wouldn't respond to calls. We were getting frantic about missing our flight. We called Johnnycab and asked if he could take 3 of us plus luggage and how soon he could pick us up, and he was at our doorstep in under 5 minutes! His car was large and very comfortable. AIRPORT ARRIVAL: we planned on taking Uber and when we got here it was SURGING ! The price more than doubled for a 8 mile trip to Waikiki. Soooo I go to yelp and immediately find Johnnycab! The 1st time we used JohnnyCAB it went great with the owner himself picking up hubs to deliver him to airport for work trip. Second time I booked it differently on their website and another company showed up NOT JohnnyCAB because apparently he had "sold" the ride. While everything went fine, driver was on time, price was the same, etc., we didn't feel 100% comfortable that we booked with one company and someone else showed up. I guess next time I will book via FB and chat with the owner himself which is how I booked the first ride from Ewa Beach to HNL. Made a booking with Johnny for a ride from the airport to hotel. At the pick-up time somebody shows up in an OLD and WRECKED van filled with other tourists. This person calls me by my name and informs me that Johnny gave our booking to him because he couldn't make it himself. He charged us $5 EXTRA for a SHARED SHUTTLE. ($30 total for 2 persons). When I confronted Johnny afterwards he said that his rides are NOT GUARANTEED PRIVATE shuttles. He told me to look at his website, there is no mention of a PRIVATE RIDE. (he is right, LOOK AT HIS WEBSITE - Nowhere is there mention of a PRIVATE RIDE) Johnny Cab sold his clients to another SHARED VAN DRIVER. And then he laughed at us because we were complaining about 25$ (LOOK AT THE PICTURE) Went with Go808 transport company on return, everything went normal. JOHNNY ON THE SPOT I really want to thank Johnny for providing exceptional service. I also love his never say no attitude. I called a larger car service company to book my transfers and they told me they couldn't do it. They were nice enough to give me Johnny's number. I called Johnny and gave him my flight times. He told me not to worry and that cash would be okay. Hence my wife coming up with Johnny Cash. I wanted to take it to the next level and call him Johnny Cash Cab. Maybe we could get HBO to make it into a TV show. Oh wait I think that has been done already. Johnny provided a great ride with fun conversations. We also talked football. I was really surprised we were total football rivals with him being a Detroit Lions fan and me being a Chicago Bears fan but we didn't throw down in the van. His little girl is really cute too. He told me that it was going to be tight with the Hawaii Football game going on but we would figure it out on the day. I love his never say no approach. On the day of our return to the airport Johnny was tied up at the football game and he informed me that he was sending another guy to pick us up. He texted the guys name, vehicle description and phone number. In fact, he arrived at the hotel 2 minutes before our scheduled pick up time. Again more great customer service and I love that. Johnny Cash Cab is the way to go. He keeps in total contact via text and is there when he says he is going to be there. I would use him again in a heartbeat on my next trip to Honolulu. This is what I know about Johnny: He responds quickly, even when I texted him the night before my flight to ask for a ride (be more considerate than me and give him more advance notice) He's on time, even early. My flight landed 20min early, and I would've been ok with waiting for our arranged pick up time. I texted him to let him know that, but he was already waiting at the curb! We wanted to travel light so we skipped bringing a car seat for our 9 month old on our vacation. Johnny cab was a life saver. Communication was excellent. I was able to ask a million questions and set everything up via text. He took the time to respond to my questions promptly, efficiently and completely. Best deal round trip Honolulu Airport to Aulani $110 cash. The Driver's were right on time for pick up on both ends in nice 9 passenger vans. Johnny was prompt in answering my emails and making sure they kept track of my flight I would give them 5* except on our return we had 2 families each in 2 vans. They dropped first family at the car rental agency but second families were dropped off at the airport rather than the car rental agency we wanted to go to. Not sure why. If I could give zero stars I would. Do not use this company. Their driver did not have his drivers license so he couldn't get on base to pick us up even though I told them ahead of time that we are on base. The driver doesn't call and tell us that he just plain left because he didn't have a license. 20 minutes later Johnny calls and says he'd have another driver come who was 8 minutes away. By that time, it was too late to go with someone else. It wasn't his driver, he just called another company to come clean up his mess!! Not only was his driver driving without a license which is illegal, he didn't fix the problem or offer to compensate us for a very stressful trip that should have been easy.
