*Update* We are late to the airport, and the reason why I politely asked Robert for a taxi ride so suddenly was because my father-in-law was on his deathbed. We were rushing home (unexpectedly). Well after Robert hung up on me, my father-in-law died. Thanks Robert, thanks for being such a fucking asshole to us for no reason. I hope your business gets obliterated by Uber and Lyft. Previous review: He asked if I looked at Uber or Lyft before I called, and I said yes (I really did not, I already know they don't come to where I live) and he yelled at me after accusing me of supporting the businesses that "poach his drivers". He hung up on me in a very shocking and nasty manner. I called back thinking it was a mistake, and sure enough, he yelled at me again. Terrible, fist off, you gotta talk to one grumpy lady who I had to repeat the address to three times, I then pulled out directions and she was still confused. She shows the driver and he knew where but she wanted to know, gotta love pidgeon English. I get into the cab and it reeks of cigarettes. Sitting at the stoplight the meter keeps ticking. Needed a taxi to take us to the Honolulu Airport from Kailua. Called around to compare rates, just to find out they are all pretty standard at $55 (cash, otherwise you pay the meter rate). Robert answered the phone right away, where as the other companies I called, I had to leave a message. Reserved AA Robert's Taxi to be picked up by 11AM sharp - he arrived 10 minutes early which was great, as the Honolulu Airport tends to be crazy busy. Robert not only got us there early, but he also dropped us off at the drive-thru ticket counter!!!! Didn't even know this existed!!! So we were able to avoid the copious amount of people all trying to check-in at the same time. Will definitely use this service again when needed. Thanks Robert! read more

I would rather have emailed the company owner, as I don't do well on the phone, however I only found the name of this company by writing down the phone number to call if any concerns--and no email address. So: On May 30th, I arrived at the Honolulu airport, and walked to the taxi stand to get a ride to my AirBnb. I asked before we started whether not VISA was accepted. The driver, whose initials are M.C. (as I hesitate to name him in person here on the internet), said yes and immediately started driving before even asking where I wanted to go. I gave the address, and he asked me where that was. I said, "How am I supposed to know? That's YOUR job." He then told me to get out my GPS (assuming I even had a phone on me!!) and give him directions (again, that's HIS job). So I'm messing with my phone, trying to get it to realize I'm in Honolulu, while he's driving on the freeway to who knows where, constantly asking where to turn, etc. It takes some time (and the meter's running) for me to get my phone to hone in on my destination so that I can give him step by step directions. When we finally get there, he takes a phone call while the meter is still running, and then asks me for cash. I told him he would be accepting my VISA that he had already said he would take, and to please stop the meter from running (it had already added several dollars after we had arrived, while he was on the phone, and while we were talking about payment!!!). He then asked me how much I wanted to pay him!!! I told him I'd pay the $26 now showing on the meter, but no tip. He gave me a "receipt" with NO information on it. He was very polite, but playing dumb. (At least I hope he was playing dumb--I'd hate to think he was actually that senile.) My AirBnb is actually only 6 to 9 minutes from the airport (according to Google maps), but it took much longer than that. The total fare should only have been just over half what I was actually charged, and most importantly, I should not have had to do his job for him. (Not even going to mention how my luggage was handled, or the condition of the taxi's interior!) My Uber ride back to the airport 6 days later, was MUCH more professional, less expensive, and NO stress. When I first arrived in town, I wanted to take a taxi because I knew their competition was stiff. Well, the competition has now got my vote--at least where the Honolulu airport is concerned. read more

I took a Robert's cab from HNL back to Kailua after my flight got cancelled. The driver and trip were fine, but I was totally frazzled after getting jacked around by the airline and spending a lot of time trying to get rebooked. After the driver dropped me off, I couldn't find my purse, and I freaked: no phone, no ID, no credit cards w/o the purse. Called Robert's and spoke to...Robert, the owner. He had me on the phone while he called several drivers, trying to find out who'd given me the ride. After about 15 minutes, he asked me my cell phone number and I realized that I hadn't even tried to call the cell. When I did, in rang inside the house--I was so fried that I'd thrown it down in an inconspicuous place. So: all was well, but I felt like a total moron for putting him through all that. Made a reservation for Robert's to pick me up and take me back to the airport two days later, when I was finally able to fly home. Robert himself picked me up and took me back to the airport. He was prompt, courteous and completely professional--also a nice guy and a good conversationalist. I really appreciate quality service, and he delivers. Give him your business--you won't be sorry. Uber/Lyft may be cheaper, but who knows who'll pick you up. If you see the value of supporting local businesses, and you want reliable, capable service, use him. You won't be sorry. First things first, fresh off a plane and just need to get to our hotel ASAP...Ride was definitely a trip to remember. Upon arriving at the hotel, Driver shot right up into the driveway almost hitting another car..I felt very unsafe as tires screeched. As we began leaving the vehicle with our luggage the driver had begun yelling at one of the valet/bellman in the driveway. Very unprofessional! The valet was only doing their job, controlling their driveway. As I shared my incident with one of the workers, I tried calling Robert's Taxi to comment on the erratic driver. Dispatch kept hanging up on me, twice and began ignoring my calls..I hope I will, and any others will not experience what I had. The service had left a bad taste at the beginning of my vacation. read more

I recently took a Robert's Taxi from the airport to my hotel and I accidentally left my backpack in the car. I paid in cash and there was practically no way to identify the cab I took, but I called Robert's and talked to Dineh and she she was immediately on the case. She tracked down my driver and within two hours, he was back at my hotel to deliver the backpack, free of charge! I was so impressed by their professionalism and dedication to their customers. I used Roberts when I was going to the airport from Kailua. I originally scheduled my pick up at 4:00am but saw shortly after that my boarding time was around 4:20am. I called Roberts the next day, as I booked 2 days in advance, and they were happy to accommodate the 3:45am pick up time. The driver was prompt and on time. We talked story all the way to the airport. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing a ride to the airport or for around town. They are fantastic! read more

Being our first time in Hawaii we had no idea where taxis were located so we called Roberts taxi asking for a pick up from Walmart ala Moana only to be yelled at by a male saying why am I wasting his time there is a taxi bay outside there. Arrived back in Honolulu airport on Thursday, 8 November. Went to the taxi stand. It is random choice, you do not get to choose any one company. Got a Robert's Taxi. Surly driver, acted like he was doing me a favor by loading my luggage in the van. Gave him detailed directions, but he kept saying it was too detailed, so I gave him directions are we came up on every turn. Lousy attitude! I decided not to tip him. I paid by credit card. When he saw that I had not given him a tip, he merely opened the back of the van whereby I had to unload all of my luggage myself. In my mind, tips are given for superior service, not for just doing your job. In his case, service was subpar. Given a choice I would never choose this company. read more

My kids and I needed to get a taxi from Waikiki to the Disney Aulani Resort. I called numerous places and other taxis were charging me from $120 - $220 dollars. Robert's taxi was incredibly fair priced and I am a very happy customer! Robert himself took us to the Disney Aulani Resort. Very RUDE guy! I asked him to pick us up at a certain time. He then tells me in a rude tone of voice that if I'm not ready at that time he will leave me. So to be safe I tell him to pick us up 15 minutes later just in case my sitter is late. He gets upsets and tells me I keep changing the time on him.
