Pre-COVID, we always contacted Chris. He was either early or exactly on time, even if our pick up time was 4:00 am. He's very friendly and we enjoy listening to his stories. I'm not sure of his current prices, but I think it would be similar to a Lyft-XL. I've heard that it's difficult to find a Lyft or Uber ride in East Honolulu. I prefer to contact Chris because he's reliable and really nice person. Highly recommended. read more

We have used this shuttle service for a number of years. The drivers are always prompt, professional and have clean vehicles. Our latest driver ("South Korean Chris") was amazing. Not only did he pick us up promptly in a very clean van, he pointed out various buildings and landmarks on the way to the airport! Staying in Waikiki, the CEO (my wife) tasked me with finding a reliable shuttle/taxi service to our hotel. Therefore, before leaving Los Angeles for the surf of Oahu, I surfed Yelp and found A8 Airport Shuttle. Before coming across A8, I took a look at other airport shuttle service companies, but they seemed to have a lot of dubious reviews. A8 seemed to have the most honest reviews and the most positive reviews from Yelp Elite members. Also, their price of $35 was in-line with other airport shuttle services and an added plus was that we would be the only passengers in the vehicle. Therefore, I made a reservation with George and provided him with my flight and contact information. Upon touching down at Honolulu International Airport, George called me and said that Chris was waiting in a white Dodge minivan by the tour bus area. Now that's service! After getting our luggage, we met Chris, a friendly transplant to Oahu from Hong Kong. As he drove us towards Waikiki, in passing, I asked him if he knew of any places that sold opihi (cross between an oyster and abalone). Chris responded that Tamashiro Market nearby had opihi and that he would take us there for no extra charge! So yes, Chris took us to the market and waited for us as we bought some opihi and spicy poke. Moreover, driving into Waikiki, he gave us some tips on places to try and things to do and was a really chill braddah (Hawaiian term for bro). As our vacation in paradise and the land of pale Asians with "selfie sticks" winded down, due to my uber Type-A personality, I called A8 the day before to confirm pick-up. George answered and said that A8 would be there. Again A8 showed up early, and this time it was George who pulled up in a Lincoln Towncar. Turned out that George was a transplant from Daegu, South Korea and had been in Hawaii for 30+ years. He even added that our down-to-earth driver, Chris, was actually the owner of A8! First and last impressions mean a lot and the drivers at A8 really exemplify the aloha spirit. We will definitely use A8 again on return trips to Honolulu. So save yourself stress and just have A8 take you to your hotel. I never found out what A8 stood for... After reading Kit H.'s review of A8, I thought I would give it a try. A few weeks ago I went to HNL for a few days and needed a right to and from Waikiki. I am very pleased I went with A8. 1. They are cheaper than a cab to Waikiki. 2. They showed up early, so there was no wait. 3. Like Kit H. says .. there is no sharing a packed van with others. 4. Just do it. You are going to find other airport-to-Waikiki-and-back services that are less expensive by $10-15. They are not worth it. If the money is that important, have a Subway picnic on the beach one day instead of going out for an expensive meal. You are in paradise, you spent a lot of money to get here, and you DO NOT want to waste that precious time on some other service. We made that mistake. I pre-booked VIP trans to and from the airport before our trip, and our pickup experience was stupid. Ok, it started out ok. I easily found the guy, where he said he would be, holding a sign with our name. But instead of a van, as I was envisioning, we were crammed onto a small bus that didn't leave on time, and the driver had poor social skills. Plus it took forever to get to Waikiki. We decided that we weren't dealing with that nonsense catching our flight home. Our airline only had one flight per day going to our home state, and missing a flight could mean a thousand or worse in the hole that we weren't expecting to spend. So I canceled my return trip with VIP, and booked with A8. When I called, there was no waiting on hold, the person answering the phone was friendly and responsive, and he arrived at our hotel to pick us up a few minutes early. He got us to the airport in about 15 minutes. He was friendly, but not awkwardly over-talkative. It was just perfect and I wish I'd just booked with them in the first place. Don't waste precious Hawaii time to save $10!! Just go with these guys!!!! read more

On 7/10 the airport shuttle was fine, on time, etc. There was a mix up on my credit card due to fraudulent charges, so he called me in a panic and I told him I would contact my credit card company and reinstate the charges, which I did, and on 8/26 the charge for $63 was put back on my credit card. Today, I received his text message: "Remember you disputed the charge? I even called you to confirm, you said were disputing a few items and my charge might one of them? Today I got the email from my credit car process company. said your bank made a decision in favor of the customer, which is you. How could you done this? You used the service, you paid with credit and you disputed the charge, $63 is not a lot of money, and I did not rip you off, you agreed to pay the fare when you used the service. This is truly unbelievable, you are the first customer disputed the charge since I have been doing this many years. I hope that $63 serves you well. Plus, when I processed the payment, I [s]wiped your card and I had your signature." So I called my credit card AGAIN and they INSISTED that I was billed for the ride on 8/26. I chalk it up to a glitch with his credit card processing system, or poor book keeping on his end. I'm giving 1 star for being an aggressive creep (euphemism would be "unprofessional," but let's call a spade a spade). read more

Called ahead and made my reservation. When I landed I received a text and with number to call once I had my bags. Walked out the door and the George was there to greet me in a nice, comfortable, and clean car. He loaded my bags and off we went. Very pleasant conversation with some great tips on restaurants. Return to the airport just as good and friendly. On time, and text with approximate time of pickup. Prices very good and I highly recommend this company. These guys were great. Very easy to book and came on time. $45 from Kunia to the airport for two people was a steal. They seem to subcontract to regular cab drivers so expect a minivan cab to show up. Gave the driver $10 tip so $55 was not a bad deal in the end since none of our friends would drive us to the airport at 4am. My only gripe was that I didn't get a call from the driver before he showed up. I was kinds stressing at the last minute and was about to call 422-2222!!!! read more

Awesome shuttle service to/from the Honolulu airport. I called them the day before I arrived in Honolulu to schedule my pick up from the airport to my hotel in Waikiki. I called them again as soon as I got my luggage from baggage claim and communication was really great - the owner told me that the car of the driver who was scheduled to pick had broken down but that he was sending another driver my way asap. I only wait around 15 minutes for the other driver to arrive, in a minivan, no less! $35 flat-rate to Waikiki with a mini-van all to myself and a nice driver - you can't beat this! I called them again the day of my departure and the driver picking me up arrived right on time and even texted a few minutes before he arrived to let me know.` Overall great service and will definitely use again if I'm ever in Honolulu again. read more

After a horrible Uber ride in Portland getting to the airport and equally miserable ride from HNL to Waikiki, I thought why haven't I checked Yelp for transportation? Low and behold, I found A8 airport shuttle on Yelp, and after looking at the reviews, I decided to give them a try. I called with only 2 hours until we needed to get picked up and it was no problem. George our driver called a half hour before pick up time to confirm and where the best place for pick up was. He showed up 15 minutes before he needed to and we were on the road before even the scheduled time. George was the best driver that I have had in a long long time. Unknowingly, our transportation fell thru & mom was stranded at the airport. 6hr flight, hot, tired, jet lagged, cranky, no car- and now, STRANDED. I called a few other ("Yelp-reputable") shuttle services to rescue her but they required atleast a 24hr notice (-understandably, so. It's mid-July). A8 was the only company who could help. They let me pay over the phone & in less than 10 min, they arrived at HNL to get her. $55 &20 minutes later, she arrived in Kaneohe and all was well in the world again! A8- You guys are Rockstars! I love this shuttle company. First it is a private shuttle with a flat rate. They are very reliable. You call 48 hours before you use them. Give them your flight info. They follow your flight. Our flight was 40 minutes early. They called me right when we got off the plane to let me know he was waiting for us. He told me were to meet him. We were picked up in a clean Lincoln Town Car. On the way to the hotel our driver told us about Hawaii and what we should see. On the return flight they picked us up at the time we were told they would be there. This time we were picked up in a clean Mini Van. They charged us $30 each way. Nothing extra for luggage. I will use them every time I come to the Island. They were awesome!! read more

Stayed in Waikiki area, and called them a day before we needed a pickup at HNL. super easy to work with. used them 3x during our stay in Honolulu with excellent service each time. Chris picked us up for 2 trips, and he was the epitome of professionalism and friendliness. great chatting with him during the drives to and from the airport with our group of 6 (!). He even knew a little Japanese to speak to the in-laws... During this time it was $60 for 6 of us, and the final trip for 4 passengers was $35. Missed out on getting Chris due to a miscommunication with dispatch for the final trip, but dispatch (Moon?) got us taken care of promptly with another driver. We used A8 shuttle service on 8/31. I reserved this service last minute (a day before) for 3 people and 6-pieces of luggage. I didn't want to inconvenience any family members to drop us off at the airport. Especially with all the traffic warnings throughout the island about road closures because of Obama's visit and World Conservation Conference. Chris (owner) was ver personable on the phone, I only told him the street address and he knew off the bat which complex it was. I was very impressed. He agreed to pick us up at 11am. The next day he called at 10:45am saying he was early and was at the parking lot where we had agreed to meet. To take our time and when ever we are ready to leave he will be downstairs. Super awesome! This took away all my anxiety. Chris was very polite and was easy to talk to. He genuinely asked how we were and our visit. He's been in the islands for over 30 years, and he really has the aloha attitude, very appreciated. On thing I hate about taxi's and shuttles are the quiet and awkwardness of the trip. The van we took was clean, and didn't smell of any funky-ness as most taxi's and shuttles. I used a credit card to pay him so it tacked on another 5%. We paid $31.50 for the trip from Ala Moan to the airport. I would use him again and will let my daughters know who live in the island to do the same. read more

We used A8 Taxi pretty much any time we needed to get somewhere in Honolulu. First from the Airport to the hotel. They were prompt and when I called them when we landed, our driver was waiting for us when we got our luggage and came outside. He was friendly and gave us great tips about the island. $30 for four people from HNL airport to our Waikiki Hotel. So I called again when we needed to get from our hotel to the pier. $20 total for the four of us. And again very prompt. When we got back from our cruise, we called 30 minutes before we were ready to go to the airport and a car came to take us to the airport. This is a very reliable taxi service and the rate they tell you is what they charge you. I felt very comfortable using their services and definitely will again if I'm in Honolulu. read more

used A8 for transport from HNL to a downtown hotel. Reasons I would recommend A8: 1) Very friendly and accomodating. I called to make a reservation less than 12 hours before our flight arrived, and was given ZERO grief. 2) I called after picking up checked bags, and our driver was already at airport waiting for us. Again, person on phone and driver both very friendly. In our case (5 passengers) vehicle was a minivan taxicab -- hired out/contracted to A8, I suppose (did not bother me except that it was not a shuttle bus and we had to install car seats for the young kids). 3) All in all, very friendly and efficient. No logistic problems at all. Reasons I would hesitate to recommend A8: 1) Rate $45, which is what I am told is similar to regular taxi rate. So no or little cost savings. Plus, I tipped on top of this. 2) 5% charge for credit cards. This is a big drawback for me personally, especially since I'm not really saving money for the inconvenience. 3) minor issue: driver kept a distance of about 10 ft behind car in front of us, even on highway. ok to be in rush, but I do not like feeling borderline uncomfortable. overall, I will be looking for another option for the time being. UPDATE: Took regular taxi from hotel back to HNL. During rush hour. With the meter running (of course). Total: $41.50 (before tip). Honda Odyssey. This confirms that A8 was not less expensive than a metered cab. Again -- to be fair -- the service was seamless on the way from HNL to hotel. But my conclusions above stand. read more

We could not have had a better experience! We called him as soon as we got off the plane (we had scheduled him prior) and as we walked out of the terminal BAM! He was right there and we didn't need to wait at all! There was also no waiting around for anyone else either. We were the only ones in the van. He was friendly to talk to and took us straight to our hotel. Plenty of room in the van for our luggage and the van was clean. I was pretty worried because most of these airport shuttles seem like scams, but since we didn't pay anything at all until we arrived at the hotel, I figured we had nothing to lose. I gave this Company a 5 star because of the following: PROFESSIONAL: when booking, the person was personable, professional and gave me specific instructions. After retrieving my bags, the driver was waiting for us. Our driver Chris was so friendly and such a safe driver. He kept good conversation!! VAN: The van was very clean, didn't smell like smoke and in good working conditions. Other shuttle companies that I used; the vans were in poor condition- was afraid we would bit make it to the airport, busted mirrors and definitely had cigarette smell! Hr helped us with unloading our bags to the door. Even after he dropped us off, he continued to have a conversation with us! I am definitely going to use them for all my travel shuttle needs! Great shuttle service. You can tell they're a smaller business, but the owner really hustles, and so do the other drivers! They guarantee a flat rate airport service no matter what the hour or traffic situation. It's way better than having inflated taxi rates, or riding on one of those cattle buses which require you to be picked up at 4 am for an 8 am flight! The vans we were transported in were comfortable, fairly clean, but most importantly they were right on time, and at $30, a great price. Call at least a few hours ahead if you can. So we made the mistake of trying the shuttle service we saw advertised everywhere for the trip from the airport to the hotel. Like Kit mentioned... Full shuttle, 1+ hr and 10 other stops later we arrived. While in the shuttle I did some research ad realized there were other options for almost the same price! For $5 more we got a direct ride, right away and the driver, Chris, was early, professional and very nice. Not to mention a clean vehicle. I would recommend this option to anyone. read more

I had called A8 a couple of days ahead of my arrival in Honolulu to schedule a pick-up. We had 5 people in our party. They told me no problem, the cost would be $35. They were there waiting when we arrived. The vans were clean and had plenty of space for all our luggage. I also called a day in advance to book our return to the airport with them. Helped put luggage in the standard Chevy van with a nice greeting then off we went.
