Dr. Wilcox is excellent, reliable, and matter-of-fact (in a good way). When my husband and I first came in to his office, we talked about our history. We had been trying to get pregnant for more than 2 years with no luck and were diagnosed with "unexplained infertility." He explained the various procedures available at HRC and recommended that we go straight to IVF. We were surprised to hear that he thought we should do IVF and we immediately disagreed with this assessment (mostly because we just couldn't believe it!). Dr. Wilcox understood our reaction and walked us through our other options. After that initial meeting, we went through 2 rounds of IUI's. Each IUI went smoothly, but resulted in no pregnancies. We debated whether or not to do IVF after our second IUI and decided to take a break for a few months. During this break we tried acupuncture, gluten-free diets, everything! When nothing worked again (surprise, surprise), we decided to come back to HRC and talk to Dr. Wilcox. Dr. Wilcox explained all of the steps for IVF and made us feel comfortable in our decision to move forward. It was scary to take such an extreme step to get pregnant, but we felt that we had exhausted every resource and we knew that it was finally time. I am ecstatic to say that after our very first round of IVF and almost three years of depressing infertility, I am now pregnant with twins!! Dr. Wilcox answered all of my questions along the way and even did little dance after he confirmed that I was, indeed, pregnant. His treatment plans are derived through a combination extensive training, a multitude of interdisciplinary experience, and a firm grip on peer reviewed studies. Despite his large case load, he manages his team and your experience with precision. Unfortunately, my wife and I begin IVF with another Reproductive Endocrinologist and were left with a complete failure (eight eggs harvested with no fertilization). This is very rare with ICSI. To make matters worse, we were told to start considering a sperm donor after just one cycle. Following a careful review of our previous cycle, Dr Wilcox outlined a clear cut plan to get us pregnant. He completely set our minds at ease, which admittedly is not an easy task. My wife and I wanted to hear the very minute details of his treatment plan, and he was happy to oblige. Dr Wilcox is very kind, friendly, humorous, knowledgeable, and absolutely professional at all times! There is one night where I really had an emergency and needed to reach Dr Wilcox at that specific moment. Believe or not, he actually answered my phone call himself at 2 am in the morning. This review is way overdue. Two moms family here. Everyday when I look at my beautiful kids (4 and 1), I'm reminded how blessed we are to have met Dr Wilcox. Our fertility journey wasn't an easy one (due to other medical issues and bad egg quality), but looking back, Dr Wilcox always gave us advice in accordance to what's in our best interests. I concur with all the other comments about his honesty. Some people may not like it because he will turn you down just so you don't waste your money, but that should speak volume about what kind of doctor he is. He is honest and ethical. We also had to contact him in a situation of emergency on a Sunday after hour. He personally called us back and took the time to comfort us and provide us with his guidance. I suppose it is easy to write a good review about a doctor that helps you get pregnant immediately after trying for years, BUT beyond that Dr Wilcox is a great doctor, and when we "graduated" to going to our regular Obgyn... we didnt want to leave Dr Wilcox and his team. Everything about this office is timely. My emails were answered right away, the nurses are always available (phone or email). We never waited more than 5-10 min in the waiting room. We never felt rushed with the doctor. Each person on the staff was incredibly attentive. Aside from all of that, Dr Wilcox did a great job of increasing our chances of getting pregnant after 1 IUI. We are pregnant with Twins. The doctor had us come in almost every 10 days from conception to make sure that the babies were doing fine. We are going to miss the Doctor and his staff. read more

Dr. Wilcox is the best doctor ever and definitely a good choice for your fertility needs. My husband and I moved here from another state and were looking for a good fertility doctor and had no clue where to go. We had previously seen another clinic and had started receiving some treatments, but were unsuccessful. I had told our former doctor that I did not want to do IVF. I searched best fertiility doctors in the nation and found HRC Fertility. I also set up an appt with a renowned clinic in the LA area. I was not impressed with the organization of the second clinic. I canceled my appt with them. HRC Fertility was very organized and friendly from the very begginning. I learned that we would be working with Dr. Wilcox. I read his credentials and was excited to meet him since he seemed very qualified. Dr. Wilcox was very professional, confident, friendly, he read all of charts and knew our history and he explained about different treatments. He said that based our health history and age that we were good candidates for IVF. He was confident that we would have success in the first round. I didn't understand how he could be so sure of himself, but his confidence helped us to decide that "yes" we would do IVF. He showed us his success rates and that was very impressive. He said that he didn't want us to have to keep going through other "non-agressive" treatments to just be disappointed and discovering that you are not pregnant once agan. It took me a couple of years to get over the disappointment and sadness in order to write this review. I am a healthcare provider myself for 17 years so I had seen almost everything but my wife and I felt that we were not being treated right at HRC. Dr. Wilcox comes across as very nice, gentle person, who would give us the highest hope and the prettiest outcome, "gorgeous ,perfect ovaries", ,etc.... One compliment after another. The morning of the transplant , a very rude, very poor bedside manner embryologist (I believed was Dr. Tran), cruelly summed it up within 30 seconds as: "your eggs were of poor quality,the procedure is cancelled, talk to your Dr." and abruptly left the room. We were in shock because according to Dr. Wilcox, everything was perfect, we were not offered much of explanation from either Drs, but we were told that if we wanted to try again, a discount will be given. We knew going in that there was no guaranty with IVF, but felt that Dr. Wilcox and his staff really let us down. They really need to be more compassionate to desperate couples who spent countless time,money and expectation and should not let their hopes be destroyed in 30 seconds. read more

Dr. Wilcox is the best! I went to him following the recommendation of my primary care doctor at USC Keck. I was not disappointed. What I like most about him is how candid he is about the process - including the costs and the probabilities of success. I felt immediately at ease with him during our first meeting when he said that he deals in "probability and not possibility," which he followed by telling me that my probability of pregnancy was really low as a 42 year old. While he suggested I go through an egg donor (due to its higher probability), I decided to go through at least one process of IVF before going the egg donor route (knowing that my probability was really low). He didn't dissuade me from going my chosen route and was very supportive and positive throughout the process. His nurses are also amazing: they were incredibly thorough and updated me with tests results quickly. I felt like they were holding my hand through this very emotionally taxing process. Dr. Wilcox is a brilliant doctor, an excellent surgeon, and very supportive and caring. He is passionate about making babies, and fully devoted to helping his patients achieve their dream of starting a family. We had already had a negative experience with another fertility doctor when we decided to look around and have consultations with a few other doctors. We talked to friends, got referrals, researched online, and set up appointments with 3 doctors. We met with Dr. Wilcox first and knew right away that he was the right doctor for us. We cancelled the other consultations. My husband and I were impressed with his intelligence and expertise within minutes of meeting Dr. Wilcox. He has some of the highest success rates of any doctor, and he will always be direct and honest about what's happening with your IVF cycle. Infertility and IVF are very stressful and emotional, and I don't know how we would have gotten through it with another doctor. Dr. Wilcox is always calm and gentle. I looked forward to my appointments because he always made me feel more relaxed about the process. I had lots of concerns and questions, and there were several times when Dr. Wilcox sat down and spent 30 minutes or more explaining things to me. I've never experienced that level of care from a physician before! Our first IVF cycle didn't take because I responded poorly to the drugs. He knew exactly which drug to add and which doses to adjust, and now after a second IVF cycle I am 9 1/5 weeks pregnant and the baby is doing great! Dr. Wilcox has continued to respond to my phone calls and address my concerns throughout early pregnancy, and has had me in for several visits so he can closely monitor the baby's progress and make sure everything's going well. I'd also like to mention the rest of the HRC staff. All of Dr. Wilcox's nurse coordinators are great. They are kind, understanding, and supportive. They really take the time to go over injection instructions and other protocol and make sure you understand what you need to do. They also arranged for me to have the procedure room for an extra hour before and after embryo transfer so I could have my acupuncturist come in and give me treatments. read more

We first started an IVF cycle at another IVF location but both fresh & FET cycle failed. While we were looking for other clinic options, a friend recommend us to try it out at HRC Pasadena w/ Dr. Wilcox. Dr. Wilcox is a very professional doctor that will go to a certain extend to spend extra effort for the benefits of his patients. After our first IVF cycle w/ Dr. Wilcox, our surrogate is pregnant. First I want to say if I can turn back time I would. I was impressed by the reviews of his medical success rates. After seeing him for all of 2017 I feel I wasted a year on a physician that didn't take my case seriously. First of all I went theough two clomid cycles to induce ovulation that failed. Dr. wilcox then recommended injectable ovulation stimulation inkections which are very expensive and usually not covered by insurances. His exact words were "The injectables will work". Guess what they didnt work. I spent 1,000 dollars on one cycle that failed. To male matters worse when I left him a message to call me back to discuss my failed treatments his nise told me he is too busy to return my calls. The nurses tolf me that he wanted me to wait until my next period to come in get checked out again and then he would answer my qiestions. I think this is really unprofesional to not return a call to a patient when they have invested their hopes in a baby and the money. I felt so disapointed in his care and to make things worse when I requested all my medical recods for that year he saw me the girl in medical records couldn't provide me with not one single progress note. I fo believe he has too many patients that he can't provide the proper quality of care every patient deserves. In the other hand his great reviews are in IVF which makes me suspect he only takes wealthy patients seriously. I would save yourself the harship and pain and take your business elsewhere. I am in the medical profession and know the standards of care and this is not what he provides. read more

After the experience I had with Dr. Wilcox, I had to write a review! Here are some thoughts on the doctor and his staff first and then I'll share our story. Dr. John Wilcox: Excellent! This doctor knows how to balance care and honesty. He guided us through some tough times with realistic expectations and kindness. Not a man of many words, don't expect him to sit around and ask you about your latest home project. Instead, he will give you the details you need and not waste your time. But the man knows his stuff and I always felt like I was in the most capable hands! Wilcox staff: Love Anna and Stephanie! These ladies explained everything thoroughly and had the compassion to make you feel safe in an emotional time. Our story: My husband and I sought out HRC Pasadena after we received results about low sperm morphology percentages from a traditional OB (my initial screening came back normal). We work in Pasadena so it was convenient and the reviews online made HRC Pasadena seem like a pretty good place. I didn't call and request a specific doctor, but the good Lord took care of us and we were placed with Dr. John Wilcox. Turns out that Dr. Wilcox has one of the best success rates around! Little did he know what a battle he had on his hands with us. After all the pretests and planning, we elected for 1 round of IVF with ICSI. Dr. Wilcox said with my age (27) and tests looking good, we should have no problem with one round. Unfortunately, after the egg retrieval, Dr. Wilcox called me himself to tell us the bad news. We learned that I have a rare issue where I do not respond to the hormone that causes the eggs to mature. In the words of Dr. Wilcox, I was an anomaly of which he had only seen a handful of times in his long career. So our first round was a bust with no embryos to show for it even though over a dozen eggs had been retrieved. Dr. Wilcox consulted with us after I recovered and was honest about our options. Most likely, this would continue to happen and, unfortunately, there was very little research on this issue because it is so rare. He suggested a "verification" round of IVF to see if it happened again and he would adjust my meds to give me everything he possibly could. He also kindly "grandfathered" us in under the 2 round IVF price, saving us some money. So the game plan was another round of IVF with ICSI with more and different meds. Rather then the traditional "trigger" shot, I was going to be given the "trigger" that egg donors receive. This would mean any embryos made would have to be frozen, as that "trigger" does not prepare you for pregnancy. Then at the last moment, Dr. Wilcox changed the treatment again giving me a combination of "triggers," something he had never done before, but was hopeful it would work! On the day of my retrieval, Dr. Wilcox quickly checked with the embryologist on the eggs to see if they had the same issue. Again they were maturing slowly so only time would tell. PRAISE THE LORD we learned that some of the eggs had actually matured enough to be fertilized and 6 embryos made it to 5-day-blasts! We were ecstatic and Dr. Wilcox was thrilled! We waited the necessary time and scheduled the Frozen Embryo Transfer to transfer 2. Unfortunately, neither of those took. We were so heartbroken, but Dr. Wilcox was determined! We tried again and on the second FET we transferred another 2. PRAISE THE LORD again, one actually took! I am now 14 weeks and was discharged from HRC to a traditional OB over a month ago. As you can tell, we've had quite the ride, but are grateful to HRC Pasadena and team Wilcox. Dr. Wilcox was honest and helpful, not trying to up-sell us on the procedures to do or the path we should take. We are grateful for Dr. Wilcox and are looking forward to welcoming our first little blessing this April! read more

Dr.Wilcox is the best doctor ever. He is highly skillful and yet very nice and patient. Always spends time talking to me before the test and explaining what the procedure is for. I usually don't like seeing doctors because I get very nervous, but he is an exception. His warm smile and soft voice calms me down a lot. His team is also very professional, I got lab results, instructions and result interpretation always clearly and on time. Nurse Rachel is especially helpful, explains procedures in great details and responses to email or request very quickly. Dr. Wilcox is a super star fertility specialist. He is knowledgeable, friendly, and skilled in his practice. I felt comfortable asking him questions without being judged or looked down upon for my lack of knowledge about my own fertility. From beginning to end, Dr. Wilcox maintained a high level of professionalism administering care. I was able to conceive with only one IUI cycle, which was a surprise for us because of our history with other doctors and procedures. If you find yourself in the position of having to choose a doctor for fertility treatment, I would highly recommend Dr. Wilcox. We had gone to one other doctor for a consultation before Dr. Wilcox but it was not a good fit as that doctor was patronizing towards my husband. When we met with Dr. Wilcox for the initial consultation, he was very warm and empathetic. He looked over our information and came up with a tentative plan on the spot just based on statistics (he really knows his stuff). When the results of some of the testing he had ordered came back, we had to alter the treatment plan from IUI to IVF in order for the treatment to be successful. When we started the treatments, everyone was very friendly and easy to work with. It made a very painful experience tolerable. Everyone from the front desk, to the phlebotomists, to his care coordinator/team (Teresa was wonderful), to Dr. Wilcox! He is very knowledgeable and bases all his decisions on science and statistics (not emotion). I always felt confident that he was doing the BEST thing possible. The road to pregnancy wasn't perfect. We did have two unsuccessful IVF treatments but in the end we were successfully pregnant with our third try and we welcomed our twin girls in April 2018. Along the way, whenever I had questions or concerns, Dr. Wilcox and his team were a phone call or e-mail away. It's not a position anyone wants to be in but if you find yourself looking for a team, I'd say at least make a consultation appointment with him to talk to him first hand. We researched a number of fertility specialists before deciding on Dr. Wilcox, mainly because of his success rate. We definitely made the right decision. Dr. Wilcox is kind, professional, and knowledgeable. We got pregnant with our first round of IVF thanks to Dr. Wilcox and his amazing staff. Second time pregnancy was difficult for us and there was no concrete answer to why we were dealing with infertility. After trying and trying on our own with no success we were referred to Dr. Wilcox by a friend who also got pregnant with Dr. Wilcox's assistance. The first day we saw him he guaranteed that we would get pregnant. I was a bit skeptical but we went ahead anyways. The actual process was not fun for me but thanks to Dr. Wilcox we were able to get pregnant with our second child and I would do all of it again in a heartbeat. Dr. Wilcox is an amazing doc and he just gets down to business and gets things done. He's very professional and knowledgeable. Dr. Wilcox helped us tremendously. He has an incredible work ethic and is dedicated to helping couples achieve their goals. He has a lot of integrity, which is not found with every fertility doctor, and will always give his honest feedback according to what is best for the couple. He is extremely dedicated. We went through the IVF process on and off for a year and a half, and I learned to implicitly trust him. He has been doing this for so long that his predictions and course of treatment were always right on. When we had a pregnancy loss last summer he was very compassionate. His team is extremely professional and on top of things. My recommendation to couples going to HRC is to go in with a list of questions already prepared, as the clinic is extremely busy. I'd also say that it's important to temper expectations, as everyone's situation is different, depending on age, egg count, etc. It took us four tries to get a successful pregnancy, using different techniques and strategies each time. I'd say a good part of the outcome is up to nature, but he'll do everything he can to customize treatment for the individual woman/couple for the best outcome. I would recommend Dr. Wilcox to anyone trying to get pregnant. We had a very good experience with him and his team. At 42, we are 28 weeks pregnant and counting, and will be going back for number two in the near future. read more

My husband and I live in Orange County with plenty of great fertility doctors and clinics to choose from but, while doing our research, we talked to a couple people who highly recommended Dr. Wilcox in Pasadena because of the success they had with him. After interviewing a few doctors in OC and a lot of praying, we made the drive to Pasadena to see Dr. Wilcox and we're so glad we did. Shortly after meeting with him we knew he was the right doctor for us and there was no need to look any further! He is very knowledgeable and confident about what he does and his success rates are really high. His staff is great too and they were always going out of their way to accommodate us! Marie was our nurse and was amazing! She was very caring and always answered all our questions and concerns throughout the whole process. I'm very happy to say our prayers were answered and we were blessed with twins after one round of IVF! The entire staff was so happy when they heard we were pregnant.
