Save your money and go to a prenatal chiropractor or physical therapist instead. I've found those to be genuinely far more effective for real pregnancy-related aches and pains. I paid over $300 for a prenatal massage here and left feeling frustrated and completely unsatisfied. I came in specifically for lower back pain relief, and despite asking the therapist at least four times to use more pressure, the massage stayed extremely light the entire time. I've had many massages, including prenatal ones, so I know my expectations are reasonable. What made it worse was how my requests were handled. At one point the therapist told me that "if you haven't had a massage in a while your nerves might be asleep," which felt dismissive and didn't really make sense. She then said she would "just press and hold in places" rather than actually massage. That's not what I paid for, especially at this price point. It was clear she was inexperienced, and while everyone starts somewhere, a specialized prenatal setting with premium pricing isn't the place for that learning curve. When I followed up afterward, I was quickly passed off to a business manager via text with very little acknowledgment of my concerns. Their own receptionist had already admitted the therapist was new and less experienced, so the lack of follow-through felt tone-deaf. The owner did eventually offer a full refund, but the way it was handled felt even more dismissive, basically making it clear I wasn't welcome back. Overall this experience was overpriced, underwhelming, and poorly handled from start to finish. I would not return. read more

I absolutely loved my practitioner, Phoebe. She has a very thorough understanding of fertility and the female anatomy, and her expertise truly went above and beyond what I expected. These are clearly skilled and well-trained employees. At first, I was a little hesitant about the hourly price when I broke it down, but I quickly realized this is a very thorough, complete program with real benefits. Phoebe's knowledge alone is worth every penny. I genuinely believe this therapy could be incredibly healing for anyone trying to conceive, especially in more challenging cases. I also really enjoyed the front desk staff, I wish I remembered her name, but every visit began with such a positive, welcoming interaction. She always offered tea or water and made me feel comfortable and relaxed. Their communication system is excellent as well. All text messaging is within one easy-to-follow thread that keeps everything clear, organized, and updated. They also check in weekly if desired to stay aligned with your needs. For my 3rd baby I decided I would try everything possible to go into spontaneous labor after two inductions I wanted to experience spontaneous labor. I would joke I want to be at target and have my water break in an isle and call my husband you know totally Hollywood. Here's what actually happen and yes I did go into spontaneous labor and I attribute it to lots and lots of body work. I had so much pelvic pain I sought out massage therapy at 31 weeks and got regular massages every 2-3 weeks then at 37 weeks started reflexology and induction messages. The day before I went into labor I had an induction massage and went on a long walk the next day that uphill walk did it, I went into labor and had a magical unmedicated birth. Eternally grateful for all my therapists at Sparrows Nest including the receptionist who always welcomed me with open arms and chatted with me giving me encouragement and warm wishes. AH-MAZING. I'd seen ads pop up on my social media feed for this place as I'm expecting a baby this summer. Since my birthday was coming up this past April, I had asked for a GC to this place as it had many great reviews from expecting women and I had not yet experienced the full-effects of pregnancy yet in my last trimester. I ended up getting a GC from my MIL and booked my first massage with them, which luckily I had started to feel the full effects of the third tri woes, swollen hands and feet, charlie horses, pressure on my hips, shortness of breath, the whole nine yards. I went this past Sat and let me say it's a little hole in the wall that you can easily pass, but it's a block up from a small cafe called Little Flower, overlooking the 134. Sparrow's Nest is located within a plaza and has it's own parking spaces, not too busy on a weekend. Upon arrival, the space was inviting, ambiance was calming, and you walk into the lobby area where someone is waiting to greet you. The coordinator was very friendly, calming, and had asked all the right questions such as, do you need to use the restroom (which for a pregnant woman, OF COURSE I DO!) and would you like some tea or water to start? She was courteous and even informed me when my masseuse would arrive which was absolutely reassuring. I managed to find a seat in the outer lobby area and had my selection of pregnancy-friendly teas before my session began. My masseuse arrived, had freshened up before our session and was just as friendly, calming, and knowledgeable as can be. I was taken into one of the rooms which was nicely spacious, warm toned, and it felt homey and welcoming. My masseuse had asked my concerns were and how my pregnancy was going. A big bonus is that she understood pregnancy as she herself had a 2.5 y/o and is also a doula for other women which was lovely to hear as she would understand all concerns since she's been through them herself. The massage as a whole was about an hour, including prep & wind down, and you start on one side of your body, then flipped to the other side (sorry, no being on your stomach or your back which is recommended). Her technique is something I so appreciated as she had never broken her strokes and continued slow, wave-like, rhythmic patterns from your whole back to arms and shoulders, only breaking to start on your feet and up your legs. I was in bliss and in a trance as there were places, like my lower back, that I wasn't aware I held a lot more tension in than before my pregnancy. She really knew where the problems spots were since they were common in pregnant women. All in all, she as accommodating, well-versed in the ways of pregnancy and even gave me tips, like on how to get up from bed more comfortably, and how to help with muscle cramps and my onstart of carpal tunnel. I would love to come back again and recommed this place to other expecting mothers, as well as women who are trying to conceive or are post partum since they have special massages for those as well. What a gem to have been recommended this spot as it's even close to my hometown of Eagle Rock/Highland Park. Lovely! read more

Had a back spasm at 30 weeks pregnant after a few weeks of working at a non-ergonomic setup at home. My whole right side seized up and I was in so much upper back pain, I booked a prenatal massage at Sparrow's Nest for the next morning because I was so desperate. The whole set up of the massage experience is really thoughtful and really curated for pregnant women. I lied on top of a bevy of supportive pillows (there was even a special one for my wrist!) that helped me get my whole body into alignment. My therapist Ariel then gently walked me through how she was going to approach the massage - which pressure points she would avoid to not stimulate labor - and the whole thing made me feel like I could really trust her. Then I proceeded to get effectively the closest thing to a deep tissue massage as you can get. The relief was insane, and I'm still feeling great days later. Very much looking forward to coming back here for another round because I found it really worth it. Big thank you for the whole staff here for being so welcoming. I do not recommend if you're going through IVF. I felt unacknowledged by the staff when I stated both verbally and in my intake that I was about to do an egg retrieval. I was given unsolicited advice and upsold on different techniques to follow (as if I'm already NOT doing my absolute best!). Not only did the staff not acknowledge that I was going through an egg retrieval, but they kept telling me there was a package I could purchase for fertility (and they also sent 3 texts afterwards!). This was absolutely devastating to be treated this way! Why couldn't someone say "good luck with your retrieval! We hope to see you when you're pregnant and we'll be here if you need anything." Instead, the focus on my future "fertility boosting massage sessions" sent the message that they were hoping to get business and NOT focused on the fact that I was already in the middle of trying to get pregnant. This is just sad and really upsetting. If you're going through IVF, do yourself a favor and go get some acupuncture. I sorely regret that I'm $200 + dollars in the hole from a weak massage that i actually fell asleep from (and no, I don't mistake falling asleep in massages as "relaxation." My husband gifted me a post natal massage here when I told him I had heard amazing things about Sparrows Nest. This was my second baby and I really wanted to take care of myself post partum this time around so I was very excited. I filled out the intake questionnaire prior to the appt and was impressed by all the questions asked such as how I'd like my session to go, what problem areas I had and if I wanted my therapist to explain things vs having a quiet session. I opted for the "educational" option where I would be explained certain techniques and how they worked. The massage itself was pretty average and to me, did not feel like a post natal massage- other than the therapist rubbed by stomach for a few min. I tried asking her what that does and got a short answer, and overall when asking questions, did not get much out of her. I walked away a little disappointed since I had high expectations and it was my first post natal massage and wish it felt more special. I also mentioned some tension in my hands and wrists and she spent maybe a minute to massage them. It wasn't very comfortable though because she used very minimal oil and it just felt too dry with her hands rubbed against mine. I'm not sure if she was having a rough day but she did not seem like the friendliest. Overall, I wouldn't return back here as my experience was just not great. And for the price, I'd rather go to Burke Williams which is where I normally go. One positive thing was the receptionist was very pleasant! She greeted me with a smile and even offered me tea at the end of my session and when I was browsing the products in the front, really took the time to explain things to me and asked how I was doing post partum. read more

Wow, I wish more places like the Sparrow's Nest opened up or they had more locations. I willingly drive from the Fullerton area to come here and would recommend anyone to if they can. PARKING: Free in the lot that it's located in. Lot is small, but I've never had an issue with parking so far. I discovered the Sparrow's Nest as I was looking for places to help with my C-Section Scar massage postpartum. They were really the only place I found and decided to drop it. Even though I had hoped for a massage that day, the session turned out to be incredibly relaxing. Marna was warm, asked about my journey, and offered thoughtful tips to help with natural induction. That visit made me excited to return postpartum. My husband gave me a gift card for Mother's Day, which I finally used last weekend for a 90-minute postpartum massage that included c-section scar work and lactation massage. As a new mom to a 2-month-old, it's hard to find time for self-care, so I was really looking forward to this session. Unfortunately, it didn't meet expectations. The therapist was overall polite, but not warm or engaging. She quickly went over the session order and didn't ask how I was feeling postpartum or if I had any needs. When I mentioned I was cold at one point, she brushed it off and said it was just from turning over. The session ended exactly at 10:30 a.m., even though we didn't start right at 9:00 a.m. She mentioned she'd leave water for me "outside," but when I came out, she was gone and I wasn't sure where to find it. I've been to many spas where the therapist checks in after the massage or hands you water directly. That simple gesture was missing. I booked the labor inducing massage for a morning appointment. I was scheduled to be induced in 2 days and wanted to bring on labor naturally. I was having random contractions for a week already and figured it was worth a try. The facility is very clean, parking was easy and everyone was really nice and professional. During the massage with Maria, she thoroughly explained the entire process and purpose of the massage. There were certain trigger points where she applied pressure, I can feel my baby moving, which she said will happen. The massage was great! Once I got home from the massage I noticed I was having mild contractions every 20-25 minutes. I tracked my contractions with an app. By around 4:45am they were much stronger and closer together. The app suggested that I should go to the hospital. Which I did, and was admitted. I ended up giving birth with no induction. read more

I was able to book a last minute induction massage here by contacting the business and being placed on a waiting list in case something opened up. Although it's quite a drive for me coming from the valley, and the massage itself was fairly expensive I think it was worth it. I got Michelle and it felt clear that she was well trained and the massage was really therapeutic. It did not induce labor for me but did cause some Braxton hicks contractions and the baby did move a lot causing some temporary round ligament pain. If you're going for a massage as always and especially if you're pregnant, get very hydrated before and after! Also something to note about the induction massage is it isn't a typical massage that includes oil, it is a dry massage which I think some might be surprised by. read more

I was guided to wait in a comfortable room with tea and a very subtle essential oil scent that promoted relaxation. I had a magnificent massage by Ryan. She took the time to check in with me and my body. I came prior to an embryo transfer and they tailored treatment to my needs. This is truly a wonderful atmosphere and I look forward to returning. I have had 3 prenatal massages so far & they have all been amazing. I plan on coming in once a month for the remainder of my pregnancy as a treat to myself. Prior to coming in I had been having extreme neck and shoulder pain... previously I usually treated with heat and medication but since being pregnant medications were no longer an option. Finding a location that specializes in prenatal massages has been life saving. I've had appointments with Cindy and Kalyn. Both have been great. Both have been welcoming and knowledgeable about the work they do. My last 2 appointments with Kalyn, she's been awesome. She definitely takes her time and her head massages... AMAZING! The environment is extremely clean & welcoming. Parking is free and location is easy to find. I drive out to Pasadena from the SFV so their location being pretty close to the freeway is a plus. The only 2 things I would point out is depending on the time of day you go, the rooms are a bit bright even with the blinds closed (at least the 2 rooms I've been in). I don't mind the light as it is natural light that comes in. Also, if your massage is happening during the time they are having a class, once the class finishes it does get a bit nosey and is a bit distracting and can take one out of deep relaxation (I am taking in to account that I am a light sleeper in general so I hear every little sound) Nonetheless these 2 things aren't great enough for me not to come back or give anything less that 5 stars. I'd recommend to any soon to be moms looking to treat themselves during pregnancy. read more

I've visited Sparrow's Nest Massage over the years and have had great experiences with them for post-partum massage. While I had my kids some years ago, I had a gift certificate I needed to use, so had a post-partum massage with C-section scar work. Jeanne was an incredible therapist, each stroke felt so intentional with just the right pressure, and I appreciated how she started the massage with some deep breaths and words of gratitude to feel fully present. She also let me know how I could work on the scar tissue myself. Sometimes a one-hour massage can feel rushed, but Jeanne's energy never made the massage feel that way. I've been to Sparrows Nest before for a prenatal massage, and for this pregnancy, I decided to schedule an induction massage in hopes it would help me go into labor around my due date. Well, it worked! Mandy my massage therapist was incredible, and her body work after the induction pressure points was really excellent. Within 48 hours of the massage I went into labor and had my baby the same day! I bought the EFT/Fertility reflexology package with Marna Currie and loved it. I broke it up into 2 cycles and think that was a great idea. I did the EFT first and think it really helped with my anxiety. I felt super stressed when walking in but Marna has a great energy was able to bring down the tightness in my chest in just a short time. I had never experienced anything like this before. It was different than traditional therapy and she brought up reasons for my anxiety I had never thought of. She also offered lots of tips and tricks on fertility/anxiety and told me about their free monthly support group. She even showed me how to do EFT at home and I felt that she truly cared. The reflexology was great as well. Again I felt so much better after I left and got more fertility tips. I loved how she explained everything she was doing so I really understood how it was helping me. My mood was totally improved when I left, even my husband noticed. The best part was my fertile window was less than a week after my reflexology appt. and I ended up getting a positive pregnancy test from that cycle and I am currently almost 6 weeks pregnant. I am taking part in the monthly support groups and think it will really help my pregnancy. So glad I found this amazing place! read more
