Highly recommend Dr. Guner. From what I understand, the doctors are from USC but they use the facility and staff at HRC - Pasadena and the surgery center RSA which seems to be a different entity than HRC. Tldr; doctors are great, staff is a hot mess garbage fire. Would like to give HRC - Pasadena a 0 star. Recommend reading the recent reviews there, it's pretty hilarious and sad My partner and I both had our eggs extracted, and Dr. Guner was our doctor. She seems to truly care about her patients and she took the time to answer our questions. She sends follow up notes for your visits and you can most definitely reach her for anything urgent. We also saw Dr. Dooby (not sure if that's how it's spelled) and she was super personable and gentle. The doctors don't make you feel like a cash cow getting herded through the process for money. Can't really say the same for the HRC - Pasadena staff and nurse. They were pretty useless and lied to us on our first visit saying they were closed at 10 AM Sunday. They aren't closed. Their staff just wanted to leave early because there were no other patients scheduled past 9:30 AM on that Sunday. I fought with three receptionists/staff/call operators until I finally got my foot through the door. Best advice is to advocate for yourself and try to connect with someone that is not just a call center operator if it's something urgent or can't wait until the next business day. They also didn't show us how to do the injections so we YouTubed everything. Good luck and hang in there! You are putting your body and mental health and work schedules through a lot in this journey but I commend all the ladies out there for even starting your journey. read more

Before I knew what was happening, I had already paid $1000 to USC Fertility for the exams and blood tests and sobbed in my car after being told I would probably never be able to conceive naturally. I went to another fertility clinic in Pasadena where the initial consultation was free and received a far less dire diagnosis. Then the next month I conceived naturally! Dr. Ho is amazing. She was the only one who could get me pregnant after 7 miserable years of trying. I got pregnant after only one transfer with her. I have to admit that when we came here, I was at my wit's end. I was so exhausted going through 3 failed iui's and one prior ivf transfer (this is not including other methods that I have tried and failed). Dr. Ho is so sweet, knowledgeable and best of all- patient. She is truly a gem in this ivf world. The first time I spoke with her I was definitely at ease and I think that helped me tremendously. She is a true professional through and through and I'm excited to go through my 2nd ivf again. We are hoping our female embryo sticks this time. I called USC Fertility Clinic and it was a breath of fresh air to speak with Amity. After talking with several other clinics, I was put off by their sales tactics and felt very much like a number. Amity treated my wife and I with genuine care, something you don't often find in the medical industry. She explained everything very well and got our initial paperwork taken care of quickly. We ended up choosing a different clinic because the wait time to see the doctors at USC were too far out for us. I am an older patient so it was important to seek treatment as soon as possible. This the worst and most unprofessional staff of people I have ever dealt with. They don't return calls and avoid you at every cost! I have been trying to reach them and have written letters to discuss a charge for services that were never authorized and now it has gone to collections and is affecting our credit score. Dr Paulsens office is the worst! Avoid. In short they have been charging us for frozen embryo storage since 2007 and decided in 2020 to send it to a collections agency. What fertility clinic operates like this???highly unethical and unprofessional. I finally got a hold of someone and they said it would take two weeks to have the nurse look into the records and send us a letter of authorization to destroy the embryos. I was there with my husband back in April 2019 and they took my blood and told me my AMH was 0.59. Fast forward at Taipei Fertility Center in January 2021, my AMH was 1.06. Fucking USC Fertility told me I was a hopeless case. Well guess what. I got 23 eggs extracted in Taiwan and will soon be a mom when this pandemic is over. AMH is something that only goes down with age. It's not something that fluctuates. This means. USC Fertility fucked up. BIG TIME! My experience was a little bit different. I found Dr. Chung in a very difficult moment, it was soon after I was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 32. My oncologist recommended me to see a fertility doctor before starting chemotherapy if I wanted to preserve my fertility (chemotherapy affects the ovaries killing the eggs and giving you early menopause). I visited two other fertility centers before I met Dr. Chung at USC Fertility. On the first appointment, she was very clear and thorough explaining the treatment and the entire process. After she was done explaining she listened to my concerns and answered my questions patiently. She is very knowledgeable, kind and caring. We trusted her and we were able to successfully freeze 12 embryos. Fast forward 6 years later and after I finished the cancer treatments, we came back to Dr. Chung ready for the embryos to be transferred & implanted. We had a successful transfer in February 2018 and we were blessed with the arrival of our baby girl in October 2018. We can't thank enough to Dr. Chung, Leslie, Teri and the whole team at USC fertility for all these years of caring, effective communication, compassion and the best support. read more

I'm writing this review to warn other women because I experienced the worst appointment of my life with Dr. Paulson. I left feeling violated, shaken up and in tears. I just turned 30 but wanted to find a fertility doctor so I could be prepared when I did get pregnant. This was my first appointment. They wanted to give me a vaginal ultrasound. I have never had this done before and was nervous. The nurse placed the probe inside me and I felt a sharp pain on my right side. When I told her this, she just kept poking me on the same side and asking "this? is this where it hurts?" and pressing harder. I told her it really hurt. She got frantic and said "want me to be done?" I said yes. Assuming we were done. When I sat up, she was quickly cleaning the probe and taking her gloves off. Ready to rush out the door. I was confused. She asked me if I had endometriosis. I panicked and said "No. Is that what you saw? Do I have that?" she responded with "Well no. I don't know. If it hurts like that, I thought you might have endometriosis." Shouldn't you already know that before examining me? Did you even look at my chart? To my shock she rushed out and said she was going to get Doctor Paulson. At this point I was terrified and turning pale because I was wondering why she needed to get the doctor and what she must have seen. I realized later she just bailed on me and wanted Dr. Paulson to force me into it instead. I don't even know how to write what happened next. This is probably one of the most traumatizing experiences of my life. Doctor Paulson came in annoyed asking me to put my feet up so we could do the ultrasound again. I was explaining that I was nervous. He talked down to me, he patronized me and made me feel disgusting. He said things like "well you have sex don't you? It's not much different than sex" and "how about I just start with my finger first" as he proceeded to rub his finger on my vagina. He went in with the probe but his creepy statements and annoyed attitude freaked me out too much and I asked if we could please stop. He again made a patronizing statement of "you're at a fertility clinic, objects will be going inside your vagina". When a female nurse said she could do it. He barked back at her "No! Another nurse already tried and she made her uncomfortable and asked her to stop so that just won't work..." talking about me as if I'm not there. At this point I'm crying and trying to talk through the tears saying "I did not ask my nurse to leave and I don't appreciate being treated this way" He slammed my chart closed in a huff and said "I think you should just get dressed" and stormed out without even looking at me. I came out sobbing with everyone staring at me. Every other ob-gyn I've gone to in my life has been understanding and gentle. The way you'd expect a medical professional to be. Dr. Paulson and his Ultrasound nurse were unprofessional, mean and rough. Conclusion: This place is in the business of making money and not caring for an individual's specific needs. Without even an exam, they wanted to immediately give me a blood test, place me on Clomid, have my husband give a sperm sample and get me started with IUI immediately. This was all decided BEFORE my awful appointment. It's ridiculous that they would set me up for treatments worth thousands of dollars without even knowing what's going on inside me yet. Funny thing is, I would have naively paid for all of those treatments if Dr. Paulson and his ultrasound nurse hadn't treated me so poorly. I would give zero stars if I could. I was here for ultrasound since I was an egg donor. I told them the company is going to pay so please don't bill me. 2 years later, I found out they sent a bill to collection without calling me or the company. Now I have a derogatory record on my credit. The reason they just sent it to collection was they had a bad address of mine. If they knew i was an egg donor, why they don't go to the company? I also found out that they have been paid in full right after the visit!!! read more

Dr. Paulson and his office were absolutely amazing during the worst time of my life. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer due to an ovarian cyst (it had metastasized to my ovary) and I wanted to harvest eggs from my other ovary before starting chemo and then later having a total hysterectomy. Dr. Paulson and his team moved very quickly, fitting me in the schedule right away. The nurse Sarah also got me set up with the live strong foundation to get my meds covered. Unfortunately my other ovary started growing a cyst too during this time and it was also suspicious. Another fertility clinic turned me down right away due to the cyst but Dr. Paulson took the time and was still willing to help me even though I only had one ovary and two follicles. I ended up not moving forward and starting chemo right away since there was a low chance of me getting an embryo (although Dr. Paulson said you only need one, I love how hopeful and encouraging he was even though they were not going to make a profit on me due to the cancer discount) he did express his concern about the cyst. It is also really wonderful that they offered the discount for cancer patients as this kind of diagnoses comes out of nowhere and it's hard to come up with the money that fast on top of other medical bills. I saw 3 fertility clinics and USC was by far the most caring, humane, and educated of all of them. I hope to use an egg donor and gestational carrier in the future and I would definitely go back to USC. read more

I called the clinic today inquiring about the cost for consultation and general information about per cycle cost or any bundled discount programs for purchasing multiple cycles, if needed. The woman on the phone was very short and uninformative. She said the consult fee is $350, and the cost for one cycle is $10,900! BOOM!! She said "unfortunately" there are no discount bungle offers for multiple cycles, it's $10,900 for one cycle, all of which may be true, but she did not offer any other detailed information on what's included, if only one or two treatments are included in the cycle, and freezing included or no additional details...I said, that's unfortunate, thank you and hung up. This process is painfully difficult enough and expensive, and with people not being helpful or withholding valuable information so clients can make informed decisions on what doctors are best for them, it makes this Doctor's office not a place I want to do business with. I cannot say enough amazing things about USC Fertility. We came to them during a very difficult time - like most people, we never thought we'd need fertility. However, I was diagnosed with advanced cancer, and we weren't sure if I'd be able to have children after all the treatment, so we wanted to try to preserve my fertility while we still could. Dr. Karine Chung was recommended as an expert in cancer and fertility, so we made an appointment. Not only is she incredibly gifted as a doctor, but she is so caring and informative to her patients. She showed such concern for our situation, and explained all of our options so well, along with all of the procedures we would need to go through. We began treatment right away, and Dr. Chung and the team of doctors and nurses became like family. They showed such amazing kindness to us during a difficult time, and going to the office always gave us so much HOPE. My husband and I preserved 9 embryos, which we had frozen, and I promised Dr. Chung I'd be back after my treatment to make some babies! Having our embryos gave me the strength to fight through very difficult cancer treatment. They gave me hope, and a light at the end of the tunnel. 2.5 years later, I kept that promise to Dr. Chung. I'd beaten Stage IV cancer, and returned to USC Fertility with my amazing friend, who acted as our gestational surrogate. We did two transfer attempts, and while the first wasn't successful (no fault of this office, that's just how it works sometimes), our second attempt was successful. And it was twins! This office gave us hope when we felt all hope was lost. We laughed and cried and celebrated with the members of this office. And in the end, they gave us the best gift imaginable: our family. You have lots of choices for fertility. If you want doctors and a staff that truly cares about you and your family, this is the place to be. read more

I have had the best experience with Dr. Chung and the entire staff at USC Fertility. After 5 miscarriages in 2 years, followed shortly by a breast cancer diagnosis, I had little options left and not much time to decide to move forward with fertility preservation. USC Fertility offers an extremely reasonable rate for cancer patients. They walked me through and assisted in the process of applying for grants to get the IVF medication through various organizations. From start to finish of my fertility preservation cycle, the process was smooth and every encounter with staff was so lovely and caring. We now have 7 embryos frozen! I humble myself in order to write this special review for USC Fertility, Dr Bendikson, and the nurse Vicki. After a diagnosis of unexplained infertility, miscarriage after a miraculous natural pregnancy, and frustration after loosing the pregnancy, i visited 3 different clinics for ivf. And i decided for the Best one. It is not easy for any woman or couple to decide for ivf. It takes lots of emotional support, strenght, money, and patience. When i met Dr Bendikson, i knew she was the ONE. She was realistic, intelligent, and caring. I met 3 different fertility doctors, many of them famous, from Beverly hills and stuff, but they are so cocky and impatient. Their arrogance made me not to believe in ivf until i met Dr Bendikson. I officially graduated from the fertility clinic last week and ready to move on with my pregnancy with obgyn. During the process of ivf, I had many personal questions & issues and i was able to email Dr B and Vicki and they replied within hours! Even on the weekends. That means they really care for you. Who likes to work on the weekends? Nobody! But Dr Bendikson was always there for me. Also, when you do ivf: organization and clear explanations are extremely important. Vicki was amazing. She was so informative and smart. She's pure awesomeness. It's impossible to express my full gratitude in this review, but if you have doubts and worries about your fertility, don't hesitate to see Dr Bendikson. My only recommendation is that you have to be serious and willing to open your heart and mind and trust the professionals. They know what they are doing. read more

This is long overdue. In the Fall of 2019, I had the privilege of working with the team at USC Fertility. My primary provider was Dr. Bendikson, along with Vicki Paddock - the Nurse Coordinator - both with whom I couldn't have been more pleased. I was more than satisfied with my care. I felt that the team was very transparent with the costs that would be associated, and the appointments that would be required. Every person is different; a baseline cost is presented, but each individual may need MORE than that (tests, medications, etc). That was made clear, and I elected to proceed knowing that. I also simply asked questions if I was unsure of something, or if I desired clarification; and they answered my questions without hesitation. Vicki made herself available via email, and was very responsive. Dr. Bendikson was very up front from the beginning, re: the potential for someone my age. She also stated that if she was unavailable (for one of my appointments) that one of her colleagues would see me; the physicians are routinely facilitating procedures with other clients. On the few occasions I was seen by another provider, there was continuity of care. I had no issue with being seen by another physician in the office. Dr. Bendikson facilitated my procedure and I was very pleased with the outcome. This is not a decision that women or couples should take lightly. Do your research and ask questions. I was highly pleased with my choice in care, and wouldn't hesitate to return. read more

Ok so where do I begin, my wife and I have been trying to have a child for about 5 years. Due to medical reasons it made having a child naturally very difficult. My wife had issues that needed special treatment. We tried everything leading up to the final decision for IVF. Our decision to do IVF was one of, if we are going to do this we should go to (what we thought at the time) the best of the best, naturally you would think USC had the best bang for our buck! BUT actually this was a horrible decision! I have never felt so uncomfortable and nonexistent (as the male/significant other) I felt that the whole time all that was cared about was our financial means. Every visit was a different "charge" or test that needed to be done. All communication was done thru my wife and no communication was ever made with me. Even at times when I was on a group email. The Dr. would reply to only my wife. But that's not the worst thing! The worst thing that happened was during the whole process after the first failed attempt, we were going to try a second time as we had left over eggs half way thru our second attempt we discovered that our prescribed medicine that was need for whole process actually was EXPIRED! Naturally I was furious my wife and I both sent off angry emails one from her and one from me! The dr. At the time only called to discuss the issue with my wife and never bothered responding to my email or discussing it with me. The answer we got was "medicine never technically expires so we are ok" but my answer to that was "but how can you give out expired meds to people trusting in you to be the best and spending my money of hopes that you will take care of us" that was my last straw! I was completely done with this place and these dr's my wife and I literally wasted 25k down the drain on 2 failed attempts, and after the second failed attempt the dr basically said "oh I'm sorry, well if you want to do it again we are here for you"! And my response to her was HELL NO! We also saw dr. Bendikson maybe 3 times during the whole year of the process. After this happened my wife and I struggled emotionally and financially to try get back on our feet and get our lives together, we still had hopes and dreams of having a child together. So we started doing our research. To our surprise we found a dr. In Tijuana Mexico (I know it sounds crazy) but this Dr. was amazing and have told us and explained to us issues with my wife that USC Dr's had not even attempted to test and or figure out! I have never felt so comfortable and so in touch with a Dr. she actually made us feel like she genuinely was trying to help us and cared! She explained and figured stuff out with my wife thru her standard testing what my wife's issue was. That NOT ONE of the Dr's here even bother checking! I am happy to announce after our first attempt with Dr. Isabella Martinez Robles my wife and I are expecting our fist baby!!! Don't waste your money on this place, do your research on ALL possibilities on how and why you can or can not get pregnant! read more

I always felt comfortable and at home due to the highest level of service and the friendly, approachable demeanor of the nurses and Dr Paulson himself. I had to do IVF twice and it wasn't easy for me emotionally. Being in a comfortable safe environment while achieving good results were most important factors for me. I'm so glad we went through our fertility journey with her. She is extremely kind, encouraging and knowledgeable. She was always very patient and articulate in explaining things to us and would always get back to me quickly if I had any questions. Dr Chung and her nurse Leslie and previous nurse Teri always made us feel comfortable and went out of their way to help us with some out of the ordinary requests. I want to thank the USC team and especially Dr. Quinn and nurse Josephine for all of the care, guidance and skill in helping me freeze my eggs. Dr. Quinn has wonderful bedside manner, has bountiful knowledge, and was very responsive to all of my questions. On the days she was away while I was getting my injections, the doctors I saw were also lovely and kept me updated on Dr. Quinn's analysis. The doctors seem to work well as a team. Josephine was also with me every step of the way, answering my many questions with the utmost patience and sending helpful videos and schedules of what I needed to do. Having any sort of medical procedure can be stressful, but Josephine and Dr. Quinn helped put my mind at ease. After the extraction (42 eggs!), I was worried about my stomach and sent an evening email; I received a nearly immediate response from Josephine and Dr. Quinn along with a number of follow up calls in the following days. These are people who care. Thank you so much! I will say, I almost didn't use USC because of the difficulty booking an initial appointment. USC and HRC share a facility and getting routed through the HRC call center makes things very painful. I had to try a number of times to book an appointment and would not get callbacks. I was luckily able to lean on Carrot (an external service, to get someone to call me back), but trying to book an initial appointment through HRC was a big turnoff. They also sent me a Google link for my first appointment to the wrong location (their old address). If you can get past the initial booking, it is worth the effort! Once you can deal directly with the USC nurses, it is a breeze. read more

My wife and I were patients of Dr Bendikson at USC Fertility Center. In short, it was a very frustrating, expensive, and unprofessional experience I cannot recommend to anyone. Upfront, USC Fertility informed us they did not accept any medical insurance as they explained most plans had no coverage for fertility treatments. But we were free to submit to our insurances ourselves. This was our first fertility clinic so we took their word as truth. Later we learned from our second fertility clinic that our insurance actually did cover a significant portion of our expenses. In fact, all five other fertility clinics I called after requested our insurance so they could check our coverage. This meant USC Fertility was the only one unwilling to check their patient's insurance just to avoid extra work on their end. We had about 7 visits and we only saw Dr. Bendikson twice. The first time was the first visit during the consultation and the second was after I informed them we would be checking out other fertility clinics. Our doctor never even saw us for scheduled appointments. It was a different doctor or nurse every visit, who we would have to retell our background and information again and again. I'm pretty sure we saw every doctor they have on staff. The instructions given would change from each nurse to nurse and from visit to visit. When we brought up the conflicting instructions, the nurse would shrug it off saying the previous instructions and nurse were incorrect. One upside is that it is very nice and clean. Think of it as an upscale puppy mill for human beings. All the staff were nice and friendly. Every staff greets you with your name and your birth date. It begins to sound like your very own barcode; just another number in their system. Our current fertility clinic accepts insurance, remembers your name, and you see the same doctor every visit. tldr: 1. doesn't take/check insurance, responsible for full cost out of pocket 2. saw our dr (bendikson) only 2 out of 7 visits, first visit for consultation & last visit after I told them we were done 3. inconsistent care and instructions read more

My husband and I knew the minute we met Dr Paulson that we were in the right office, with the right doctor. We loved how they took a "before" picture of us. I left the office that first day totally believing that there was going to be an "after" picture with a baby in it. And there is :) Dr Paulson and the entire office held my hand (literally!) the entire time, their support never waning. Dr Paulson is not only a brilliant reproductive endocrinologist, but a wonderful man. He truly made the process as easy and gentle as possible. I consider myself lucky to be a patient of his. My review is specifically for Leslie Oldham and the front desk staff (including the nice lady who helped us in financing). After the head ache and run around from Kaiser (who is my insurance carrier) my husband and I both decided to have my tests conducted with USC. I've gone down the rabbit hole of google so I'm one of those people who self diagnose themselves with the worst news. Nurse Leslie was amazing she put me at ease to what I would see on my ultrasound and explained in very basic terms so I would know what shes referring to. I even got to ask her some free for all questions and pick her brain because after all she's the one who has a degree and works in the medical field, not me. If you like someone who is patient and doesn't treat you like a statistic then I suggest you schedule your appointment here where people seem to care about their patients. read more

People come in and out of our lives. Some of them, if you're lucky, will truly touch your heart. Dr. Paulson is one of those people for me. It was very hard for me to come to the realization that I needed fertility treatment and honestly, I was completely anxious & overwhelmed by it all. I met with multiple doctors & didn't feel at ease or comfortable until I met with Dr Paulson. My journey has been an uphill battle. My body rarely cooperated and we were always being challenged with some kind of obstacle. One of the biggest factors that carried me through it all was Dr. P's creative treatment plans, optimistic nature, expertise in the field, and his genuine kindness. This has been the hardest chapter in my life. My biggest dream in life is to be a mom. Knowing in my heart that I have a doctor who is doing everything he can to have a successful pregnancy makes this hard journey a little easier to cope with. I will forever be thankful for Dr. Paulson & everything he has done. If there is one thing I am going to miss from this period of infertility, it will be him. I came here after a frustrating experience with a very expensive, inconsiderate clinic. They were such a nice respite after my prior frustrations. They were concise, clear, informative, helpful & encouraging & started me immediately on treatment that appears to be very effective so far. They go out of their way to ensure you understand all the costs associated with the treatment & they tell you about all discounts available. I'm working with Dr. Bendiksen, who seems to know a tremendous amount and has a passion for helping women preserve fertility. They're very cost effective but they're as skilled & experienced (I believe) as any of the clinics in LA. A few perks: they INCLUDE everything in one package -so you don't find yourself spending extra $$ because they keep delaying treatment plans. There's no wait time with them for appointments -when I waited 12 minutes once, they actually apologized!! It's been so much more professional & better run. They also offer a 2nd round at half the cost if you want it. I overlooked them initially & I'm hoping that my review steers others in this direction. Also, it's affiliated with a research institution and the physicians are involved in research as well as clinical treatment. I'm not sure that's true of the other clinics. read more

I was very happy and impressed with my experience at the USC fertility clinic over the past few weeks. After reaching an age where my window of healthy fertility was starting to close, I decided to explore the egg freezing process. I had an initial consultation via zoom with Dr. Ho, which was very informative. Her team was very attentive in answering my follow-up questions on additional details about the process. I really appreciated the efficiency of their web-based patient portal for information sharing (both ways). I rarely had to wait more than 10 minutes to be seen for my office appointments (which was much appreciated since I about ten visits over two weeks) and had a smooth egg retrieval surgery. Dr. Ho's team and front office staff really helped streamline the process for me and showed genuine interest in my well-being along the way. Worked with Dr. Baker and couldn't have asked for anything better! My wife and I tried to get pregnant with IUI (not at USC, but still with Dr. Baker) for about 2 years before we finally took the plunge and went for IVF with her at her USC office. Dr. Baker was wonderful to work with. Open, honest, genuine, friendly and informative. She also has a very "gentle" approach when it comes to a woman's lower anatomy--I never felt discomfort during my appointments with her. She's very good at what she does, and I highly recommend her. The staff was always friendly and I didn't usually have to wait too long when I came in for my early morning monitoring appointments. Our nurse, Sarah, was also always just an email away--which was great! The retrieval itself went smoothly. We were successful on our first round of IVF and are expecting our baby boy in 10 weeks. Dr. Karine Chung is a doctor who killed my 2 growing eggs, she dropped me without my consent in the last miu before my eggs retrieval day. this is my last chance to get my own baby, I started IVf with her insisted to take injections and waste $ 6000 about 10 days more, then she dropped me and thrown my case out of USC ! She is a killer and killed my 2 eggs without my consent! I will never forgive her in my life! Because this is my last chance to get my own eggs to have my own baby in my age 48 ! I cannot say enough in praise about my experience at USC Fertility. I arrived with unknown unexplained fertility and learned I had a rare uterus condition. Dr. Chung (and her amazing nurse Leslie) took incredible care of me. While they had so many other patients, I felt they always gave me personalized attention and care. Beyond that, both women are clearly incredible in their field but they were wonderfully gentle with me and my husband through the often heartbreaking & scary process. I was spoiled by being able to always call the office to speak to them and after hours they would respond to my emails so quickly. Every nurse and doctor I saw along my journey was fantastic as well. Best part, I was completely successful with my IVF and I'm writing this review while breastfeeding my newborn. I even have eight (!!!) more embryos waiting for me. When I started going to Kasier as a pregnant lady, my doctors all knew Dr. Chung and clearly respected her. I recommend USC to anyone who will listen! I also found their prices to be standard to fair. Bonus, the pharmacy in the same building has some sort of deal with USC and their prices are great as well! read more

I will give a very detailed explanation of what my experience was like in USC fertility center and with my Doctor (Dr Karine Chung) 1. My case: I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility with features of PCOS. I started with one cycle of clomid+timed intercourse that was unsuccessful. After a couple of months break I did two IUI cycles with clomid that were again unsuccessful. I am currently in the middle of my third IUI cycle with letrozole. I will update the results of this cycle later. 2. Why I picked USC fertility? I was a student at USC and I was enrolled in Aetna insurance for students and according to my insurance USC related medical centers were considered in network. However, I later recognized that this was not true for infertility treatments and they are not covered by insurance and this center is also considered out of network. 3. Dr Karine Chung: I didn't know any of the doctors in the center and the reason I picked Dr Chung was her availability at the time. Dr Chung herself was very caring and confident and patient. So, when she was treating me I could easily trust her. She answered all of my questions with patience and answered emails very quickly. When performing IUI she clearly explained every step to me that was great. I believe she is a very good doctor. 4. The other doctors: Whenever doctor Chung was not available other doctors in the center performed Ultrasound and/or IUI. My experience with Dr Paulson was great and he was an amazing doctor. Dr Bendickson was okay but was in a rush and didn't spend enough time for me and didn't explain much about what was going on. I personally didn't like Dr Ho specially because she was not confident enough and once in a while during her ultrasound examination said things that were not correct although she corrected herself afterwards. I also had a not so good experience with one of the fellows who gave the wrong number for my egg reservation (later my doctor corrected that number). 5. Reception: The receptionists were very cold and unfriendly. That was a down side of my experience. The waiting room itself was nice and had a coffee maker and water machine. There was a comment box on the bench but no paper or pens available to make a comment. 6. Nurses: Nurses were generally okay. Victoria Paddock was the best and explained everything very clearly and was always smiling and very nice and warm. Other nurses were also fine. 7. Waiting time: Very long. 8. Finance: This is another down side. They gave me the impression that my insurance does not cover any of the expenses and it is useless to claim for any of the expenses. I later claimed from my insurance and some of the expenses were counted towards my deductibles. I requested for an itemized bill from them and although they told me that I will receive it in a week or two, it took them a month and several calls to send it to me. Often when I called their office no one responded. 9. Medications and orders: I received a prescription of progesterone vaginal caps that MDR pharmacies were providing. When I visited the pharmacy, they showed a box of compounded (home-made) capsules (not FDA-Approved) that were dual purpose (both oral and vaginal). For vaginal application they did not provide applicators. And It was not covered by insurance and they were charging me around 100 dollars for it. I was very shocked by the appearance of the medication and I insisted that they call and check it with my doctor. They did and changed the medication to Endometrin suppository afterwards which was FDA approved and was 100% covered by my insurance so I didn't pay anything. I later asked Dr Chung and she told me that in theor center they have got better results with MDR compounded capsule and they recommend it for IVF. This explanation was not sufficient for me and I am going to look more into this. If this was true they still should have checked it with me specially because of the insurance coverage. I will update my comment if I receive more precise information. read more

Had the most terrible experience and zero results. Nurses and doctor never called me, even when big, big things were happening. The feeling I get is that they are arrogant and not caring. The entire process of fertility treatments is so stressful and to not have people that care?! I hated my experience with them. They also messed up the most important step in the egg retrieval and that is why we have had 2 cycles and zero results with them. I would not recommend USC at all. read more

As another Yelper offered, outcomes are so person- and situation- dependent that it doesn't make sense to really focus on the outcome specifics. I chose USC Fertility for egg freezing due to their aggregated results and reputation with both patients and other fertility specialists. I felt informed and well-taken care of from start to finish. Like most people, I'm not a huge fan of needles (read: phobia) but the nursing staff and physicians were excellent. You'll end up practically seeing everyone at some point during your treatments. The entire staff was warm, friendly, and guided me through everything. They made it as painless as possible, both emotionally and physically.
