Terrible ! Our pool was opened April 22 and we still haven't been in it once. The heater is busted only after three years and they have yet to fix it. Broken appointments, no shows, and runarounds ! John Joseph Custom Pools did a phenomenal job from start to finish. I'll admit I'm not the easiest person to work for but the office staff stayed professional and always addressed any questions or concerns that I may have had. The team worked hard and kept a clean work environment which I was happy about. Everything that they said they would do they did, and all in all I'm very excited to finally have our pool in the yard. I would not recommend!!!! John Joseph pools did not show up on the date they were supposed to, and didn't have the decency to call and let us know. To make matters worse, when we rescheduled they didn't show again. I would highly advise you look else where. I still have not heard back from them.5 days later. read more

I was not happy with the office staff and their condescending comments. I would like to think if pool service is scheduled and being changed whether it be due to weather or whatever don't you think they should call to let the homeowner know? When I called and questioned why they had not arrived I was told it was due to the rain. When I asked about when I could expect them I was told, "I am not a weatherman." Excellent customer service. I left a message with the office staff to have the owner John contact me; however, he never did. When the technicians finally arrived they were very nice and assessed our issue. Since our repair was going to be costly, the service technician was speaking on his cell phone with John the owner. I do think when a customer is encountering a large repair it would be nice if the owner could make the call since he is the one who sat in our backyard and sold us the liner in the first place. I told the technician I wanted to speak with John and to please have him call me. He never did. Unfortunate when you have rude office staff as the point of entry to your business your business is ultimately going to suffer. It must be their protocol at this place of business because as I said I never heard back from the owner to discuss in detail the repairs required. We have since hired another pool company whose office staff was extremely helpful and kind. The technicians arrived as scheduled today and work is underway. After several years with John Joseph, I will no longer be using them because of my recent experience for my pool closing. The person used a wretch (hand tighten only) and cracked the collar next to my chlorinator. When I complained about it, they stopped by my house after a week to examine the issue. Somebody from John Joseph called me back and informed me that the collar was cracked because somebody overturned it. I agreed and asked several times why they decided not to remove the chlorinator during the winter for this year when in the past they did (placing it in the pool shed and putting the plastic to cover the holes in the PVC pipe). She completely dismissed my concern and said that she was only the middle man. Bottomline they not complete the job. In addition, John Joseph did not remove the waste pipe (in which they did the past). Also, they broke one of my plastic fittings on the stairs without informing us Ironically, I was planning to have them work on our pool matters (new spikes for the pool cover, bricks, etc.) A blessing in disguise as they might have potentially have done more damage than good. Given the lack of customer accountability and NOT taking ownership, she also had the nerve to blame me for the matter. So without wasting John Joseph's "policy" and her nonsense, I decided to contract a reputable pool company to address and fix the issue. According to the other company (as I am not a expert in pools), it was plainly obvious that the original closer was inexperienced, lazy and decided to not inform the customer after the damage was already done. $700 later with a new pool company plus more future business in a couple of months. We considered three companies to install our pool, each of which were recommended by neighbors. We ultimately selected John Joseph Pools and could not be happier. John, the owner, was approachable and knowledgeable. Nestor, the designer, was phenomenal. He literally spent hours with me and my wife to find the perfect pool design for our property, and then even went with us to the masonry yard to find the perfect stones. Everything came out wonderfully. I love the pool and the masonry work. Everyone of their crews was terrific and experts in their craft. 2018 was the first year we had the pool, and it was the best Summer we had at our home. I'm very thankful I found them. Great company... Great and pleasant staff and employees. I just bought a house with a pool and had no experience on how to open it, maintain it and close it. There were a few different guys who came out on a few different occasions and all of them took the time to "school" me on how to maintain it myself and other tips. Jackie & Cara who manage the Business are very efficient, always answer the phone on the first ring, call back immediately, and send assistance quick, if needed. The Guys who come to maintain the Pool are quick, and do a great job, I know zero about My New Pool and I thank goodness they don't mind constant calls from me asking for help! Our experience with this company has been great! John came out and sat with us to discuss what we wanted and then sat with us again when we decided to make changes to our original pool design. He was patient and answered all our questions. We knew nothing about running the pool, but once it was in a guy came out and showed us what to do. The following year when opening the pool, the guy again showed us how to run the pool. The ladies who answer the phones are very kinda and also know a lot and answer my questions, even stupid ones. John Joseph pools built our pool. Their work is amazing and their price is reasonable and affordable. We love our pool. We had an issue with the heater which they took care of within a week. They are probably busier than they can handle because they frequently miss appointments and don't show up. You have to keep after them if you want service, but when they do show up they fix the problem. Bill is very friendly and extremely helpful. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Their company motto is "deal directly with the owner" but that is only until you sign the contract. Then with ANY problem that comes up you never speak to John (the owner) only the receptionists, and they never have answers. He is in the office but does NOT come on the phone to speak to his customers. This company installed our pool and put in a dry well that was too small and floods our backyard when we use it. The dirt above the dry well collapsed several times and they have never addressed the problem. The stonework around the pool is pitched incorrectly in one area that each time it rains, all the rainwater pools and has to be brushed away. (Again, never addressed problem) Maintenance appointments must be made 2 months in advance, and then they do not show up or call to let you know. They are not apologetic with this, and do not work with you to reschedule you as soon as possible. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL for a business! Do not use this company. I agree completely with Cathy L.'s review. I am never called back with an answer to a concern. I have asked repeatedly that they call me before they come. They never do. They promise you everything and don't deliver. The girls are the only ones who talk to you and you might as well talk to a stone because they are useless. To make matters worse, when I got divorced I was promised $5.00 less a bi weekly service visit to keep me as a customer. They supposedly serviced my pool but my son who is home all the time has never seen them. Nor have they rang the doorbell as I requested so many times. So, I get a bill in my mailbox for not $5.00 less but $5.00 MORE. Then they added tax which they never did before. Unconscionable! I'm sure when I call the girls (yes, Cathy is right...you can never speak to the owner) they will tell me in their typically annoyed voice that they don't remember promising me that, there's nothing they can do about it, blah, blah, blah.
