Garrett did a great job with my pool opening. Great communication and I am really impressed. He was very professional and friendly to boot. He made it look easy - although it isn't. I'll certainly be booking him for all my future pool work and I strongly recommend him. read more

Garrett was referred to us by a friend. He is consistently reliable and has opened/closed our pool and done vacuuming services for us. A very reliable pool guy we will always try to use . Thanks Garrett! read more

I'm a new homeowner that recently acquired an in ground saltwater pool, that I had absolutely no idea how to maintain or assess if it was in working condition. Thankfully, Garrett was able to inspect the pool prior to me closing on the house in order to ensure there weren't any significant issues (or red flags) that would require a costly, immediate repair. Scheduleding with Garrett was easy. He was very accessible by phone (via text) and was able to squeeze me into his schedule with only a couple days notice, even during peak pool season. I'm super thankful for him, otherwise I may have bought an expensive nonfunctioning pool. On the day of inspection, Garret was very professional. He explained to me his findings as he performed the inspection. He even provided me with a quick tutorial in how to operate my pool. There were so many switches!! He understood confidentiality and even pulled me aside for minor issues (loose pool light, cracked top pool step, and a leaky jet return that was not connected to the main pump) I may have wanted to discuss with my real estate attorney to be put in escrow funds. Overall, he confirmed there was no alarming issues that would need costly repairs. And, in the end, he spoke honestly and said, if he were the buyer, he would feel confident moving forward with the purchase. That alone gave me the peace of mind to close on the house. I would highly recommend Garrett for all your pool service needs. His prices are fair and reasonable. Way more affordable than the quotes I received from 2 other stores for pool inspections. He's also very personable and friendly. He's definitely my go-to pool guy! read more

Although I've never met Garrett (the owner), nor have I paid him a dime, he was willing to give me advice via text. Instead of telling me he should come by, take a look and try a few things and run up a bill, he was HONEST when telling me, anything he could do , I could do myself...by his guidance. Honest, Knowledgeable, Dependable and very RESPONSIVE! I wish I could use him...I'll keep trying!. I would HIGHLY recommend him everytime! Joe Pisano read more

This was our first time using Garrett and it certainly won't be the last. He was quick to respond and extremely patient with us as first time pool owners. He came to close our pool and did a great job. Pricing was very reasonable and his response time is great. He was on time for the job, polite and very thorough. He even took the time to discuss options for upgrades we have been thinking about making with our pool and ways we can save and best maintain our pool. What more could I ask for? I wouldn't hesitate to use Garrett again and will definitely recommend him to friends. It was a great pool season, can't wait until next year. read more

I found GZ Pool Works on Yelp and am SO thankful that I did. Not only was the owner, Garret, patient and immensely knowledgable but he was an extremely hard worker that revitalized my pool all within on day. We recently purchased a new house and never owned a pool prior and noticed that it was turning green in the week after moving in. Garret came and walked us through step by step on everything we would need to know about maintaining the pool and provided a very thorough tutorial. Following, he performed a cleaning/vacuuming of our pool and it was a sparkling clear blue after (the before and after pictures don't do it justice). I highly recommended GZ Pool Works and will continue to recommend Garrett's services to everyone on Long Island! Thank you again! read more

As a new homeowner, I inherited a litany of issues the previous owner left me and Garrett has been an amazing resource to help me correct the problems one by one. I appreciate his consultative no BS approach, responsiveness over text, and general pride in his work. We've ran into a few speed-bumps including sourcing hard to find parts which didn't deter Garrett. I will be a customer for life; he's welcome to take a swim anytime. Thanks! read more

Garrett at GZ Pool Works has been amazing for me as a new homeowner. By a certain string of luck, I ended up contacting him and I have zero regrets. This might be the only pool guy that wants to save YOU money. I have been more than a pain in the behind with all my newbie questions and concerns; night or day Garrett has gone above and beyond for me answering my questions and even walking me through something that would have costed me a ton of money to have him come by to do it. See what I mean?? The best part? He feels great by educating you on your system so that you can learn as much as you can to manage on your own. This man is a diamond in the rough and I'm lucky to have found someone who wants to help me become a more learned homeowner. The education alone is priceless. A great experience, and will continue to keep him as my pool guy. I suggest you give him a call and do the same! read more

I want to brag about Garrett who I only spoke through texts when inquiring about an Aqaulink kit to replace my old control center with for my pool. I was totally surprised not only how quickly he got back to me but how much support he gave me on the phone. He actually doesn't do the specific conversion I needed but he never stopped answering my questions and gave me several suggestions to try getting the product I needed. Even with his full schedule of pool jobs he always got back to me with more information and shared his knowledge. I started to feel bad that I was texting so much. That kind of concern for someone who hasn't given him any business is rare. I was so impressed I wanted to give him my pool opening and closing business but he had to decline because of his full schedule of customers!!! Thank you Garrett I saved your number in my phone and will go to you for any repairs needed. Rob Whelan read more

Can't believe I didn't review Garrett prior. Sorry! I've been using him for three seasons now, opening and closing only, and I can't complain. Might not seem like much, but it is. Knowing my $30K investment is opened and closed properly is very important. My pool is literally crystal clear when he opens it. I know that's mostly due to the solid Loop-Loc cover, but, he installs it correctly. Remember, these covers are nearly $5K alone, important to take care of them as well. Garrett organizes everything, removes the cell without you asking, manages to actually get the cover in the storage bag as if it was factory-packed, and is just a good guy. He has also saved me money on service-related visits just by offering me advice. He's not the type to take your money for nothing and that's rare these days. When he first came, I was shocked because it's just Garrett, and one assistant. The other guys I used sent four guys and it would take them a little over an hour, messing around with hand-trucks, and whatnot. Garrett is in-and-out in less than 30-minutes I'd say. Not that I care, but Garrett does a better job in less time. Thank you! read more

Garrett is absolutely amazing. This fall we bought our first home with our first pool. We needed to close the pool and had no idea how to start. We found Garrett from yelp and he hasn't disappointed. He's incredibly responsive and patient with our thousands of questions and has really gone above and beyond for us! His rates are very reasonable! Next spring we are planning on having him convert our pool to salt as well. Highly recommend!!! read more

Look no further! Garrett is the best, in every way. Incredible communication, knowledge, and service. And he's personally as interested in your pool as you are. Also, he's as interested in saving you money as you are. Yes, you read that right. I'm so glad I got angry with the previous company I used and found Garrett. What a pleasure it has been working with him, and I'm looking forward to continuing to do so. A+++++++ read more

So happy I found this company. I reached out to several companies on this app and even though Garrett from GZ pool works couldn't provide weekly Maintanence, he was able to come out and power vac for us. He and his partner came in and got right to work. He also gave my husband a bunch of tips on how to maintain the pool. He saw that the filter was very dirty and washed it and had everything running up to par. We opened our pool June 7th but had the hardest time getting it clean. Now, because of Garrett, we can finally go for a swim! He has a new HAPPY customer. He is very kind, responsible, reliable and trustworthy. I also love that he confirmed appt day before the appt and kept me up to date with the time he would arrive the day of service. read more

I found GZ Pool Works three years ago based on other Yelp reviews. I had been looking for someone competent and reliable to open and close my in-ground pool each year. Other companies failed to keep appointments or made a mess when opening or closing my pool. Garrett is amazing and I would recommend him to ANYONE that asks. Here's why: 1. Communication: There is NO guesswork with Garrett. You know when he is coming months in advance. I've used Garrett for years, and he has never missed an appointment, and if there ever comes a time that he does, I will know in advance because he will let me know. I can't say enough about how easy Garrett is to deal with. Furthermore, he is in direct communication weeks before the appointment by providing detailed information about the opening or closing. On the day of the appointment, I know whether Garrett is ahead or behind schedule because he communicates with me. 2. Experience: I have an 18x40 inground pool, and every year, Garrett brings his experience, knowledge, and professionalism when opening and closing my pool. Whenever I have a question, he gives me the right answer and follows up with me to make sure that any problem that I have with my pool is addressed. 3. Value: The price that I pay is more than worth it. Many companies charge a lot more to open or close a pool, and they do a great job. Garrett seems to pride himself on making his customers happy and he does not leave your home until everything is addressed. 4. Performance: So, how is the quality of his work? Does he get the job done? The quality of his work is great and YES, he gets the job done. He leaves my yard in better shape than he finds it. His work is neat, organized, and efficient. As I said before, any issues with my pool are addressed immediately. This spring started right with Garrett opening my pool. It is a pleasure to recommend you and thank you for always doing such a great job and treating my pool as if it was your own. read more

He power vacuumed my pool and my pool stayed nice and pristine all summer long.. his prices are reasonable too.. cash only though.. very accommodating to all my questions because I'm a new pool owner.. he also gave me advices on how to maintain my pool.. very helpful! Very honest company. Sadly they could not take our pool on because of a spa issue, but...the owner took the time to educate us and provide excellent information. Incredibly helpful! Very honest person/business. Prompt response to communication. Great to work with. Would recommend to anyone who has pool trouble.

Garrett is devoted to his customers' successful enjoyment of their pool, while keeping their costs under control. His communication is timely, detailed, and specific, and he's punctual and efficient. His love of pools is obvious, and his desire to educate his customers makes him extraordinary. His prices are so reasonable, I thought I misheard him. I can't recommend him highly enough. I just cannot say enough good things about Garret & his business. He was so nice, professional, efficient, helpful. First of he went out of his way to help me, a first time pool owner. He made sure we understand everything, gave us tips, ideas and was just super nice. He even checked in with us to make sure we are okay after the visit. I cannot thank him enough, it is clear that Garret loves what he is doing and that he cares more about helping people than anything else. read more

Garret's company GZ is always accommodating, polite, on time and an absolute pleasure! He responded in a timely manner given how busy this pool season is. The demand for pool service has sky rocketed with the pandemic. I did call numerous pool service providers just in case Garret would be busy and their prices/availability were outrageous. I am so fortunate and honored to recommend GZ pool works to all my friends and neighbors. Best service on Long Island! read more

Can't say enough good things about him. First season with the pool after purchasing our home last September. Pool was never opened the prior year, so we didn't know what to expect. Garret came by gave me his opinion on the condition of my equipment, multiple options for repairs and upgrades aswell as being honest about what could be wrong once we opened the pool up. Everything worked out great, highly recommend him as he's honest, fair pricing and a hard working dude. read more

While I cannot review the quality of work this gentleman provides, I can tell you that the individual is extremely rude. Takes days to get a response, doesn't call back and is not a nice person to deal with. I try to remember that you never know what someone is going through that causes them to act a certain way, but as a business owner I also know that you cannot allow those things to affect how you treat customers or potential customers. read more

Garrett @ GZ Pool Works saved the day for us. Our scheduled pool closer was injured on the job the day before he was to do us. We called GZ and they were able to fit us in on Sunday, the next day. They arrived exactly on time. They were very knowledgeable and competent. The closing went perfectly. We are now in their database and they will contact us about scheduling our opening next spring. This will be great compared to trying to get through to my prior servicer 20 times in one day trying to schedule. We are satisfied new customers. read more

we moved into our house at the end of aug last year and the previous owners had already paid for the full season of pool maintenance. we didnt have to do anything at all. at the end of the season however....the contract ended and we had to start doing things ourselves this season. i have never owned a pool before and i know absolutely nothing about maintaining one. we called gz pool works to open our pool because his prices were well below what the previous company was charging. garrett was professional, personable, and more than willing to answer all my newbie questions. garrett took his time to explain what was going on with my pool, and also to instruct me on how we could maintain it ourselves, and avoid costly yearly fees to pool companies. he also went out of his way to take care of some issues with the filtration system that he could have easily just said we needed new equipment or pricey repairs. from now on, im calling gz poolworks whenever i need pool service. read more

I used Garrrett for the first time this year to close my pool. Easy to reach by cell phone. No need for repeat calls or waiting for call backs. We set a date to close and confirmed it, reminded me of what I was expected to do in advance. On the scheduled day, he let me know he was running a bit late. He showed up and was very efficient in closing the pool, which translates into a very fair price for his work. There was one slight issue that required him to return and he did so promptly within a few days. All in all, a very good experience and hopefully the start of a long relationship. Overall, a 5 star performance! read more

Let me start off by saying this if you are looking for someone who is reliable, fair priced and pretty much a nice guy then you have found the right guy, Garret returns calls promptly and is pretty much always available when I need him to come by or even if I have simple questions. He takes time to explain everything that he is doing and what he has done. He takes his work seriously and we would not use anyone else. This is our second season using him and have zero complaints you will not be upset that you called him for your pool needs. You will find that on top of his service his prices are more than reasonable. read more

Garrett is the best! Plain and simple. When we bought our house in the summer of 2018, we inherited an inground pool we didn't really want. After finding Garrett on Yelp, we scheduled a time for him to open and vacuum our pool. Knowing that we were new pool owners, he took a considerable amount of time to walk us through everything we needed to know and answer questions we had about set up, function, etc.. Taking his own time to teach us everything left such a great impression on us and we have used his services to open, close, and help us with maintenance ever since. read more
