**UPDATE** The maintenance manager, Anthony, contacted me and was extremely professional, apologetic, and respectful. He offered to send over two different pool techs the next morning and have our service completed at a heavily discounted rate. Our techs, Alex and Marlon, were wonderful and did a great job. After the service was complete Anthony called me again to see how it went and ending up comping the entire service for us. While it started off a little rocky, they definitely made right nbd us and we hope to use them again. **** Very disappointed in our service, especially because they came so highly recommended. We hired them for a power vacuum and were scheduled for Monday 6/22 between 11-3. When I got home from work at 3:30 the pool techs were fast asleep in their van in my driveway. Once they woke up they worked for about an hour and told me they don't have time to finish (but had time to nap) and said they would reschedule me for later in the week. They left a hose running in my pool without telling me and it ran so long it almost overfilled. We were scheduled to have them come back and finish this Saturday 6/27 between 1-5 and they never showed up. No one called to inform of us a change in scheduling. When I called to cancel any future services with them and express these concerns all I was told was "I understand." I never post reviews, but we are extremely disappointed in the service we received and after getting minimal response when I called to express these concerns, a review felt warranted. read more

If I could give this place ZERO STARS. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE. They came to fix our pool and broke a clamp that attaches to my filter. When I followed up with them regarding the fact that they broke this, they claimed it was already broken and it wasn't their fault even though the guys who came to my house had no idea what they were doing. They came in, connected all new equipment, did all inspections and had the pool up and running... on the east end when others weren't even answering calls anymore in July. You'll see a theme in previous negative reviews of Sweeney's: if something goes wrong, they blame you. One of the worst customer service experience of my life. Had Sweeney's close my pool last summer. They used a plastic bag and duct tape to winterize a pipe, which seemed less professional than other pool companies but what do I know? They open the pool this year. I go outside to check after they leave (no knock on the door before/after): there's a ton of debris in the pool, the jets are sputtering like crazy, and the equipment is leaking. Clearly, they were rushing and did not stop to check the pool once they finished. No answer via text or voicemail. According to google, it's a common error during pool openings: if everything is not perfectly sealed, you get air in the lines, and the jets will sputter until you unscrew/rescrew everything back perfectly. Next day, the filter isn't working AT ALL. It's running without any water because of the leak, which is super dangerous for your equipment. After getting mild attitude from whoever handles the texts, we finally get a call from the service department. The guy interrupts me constantly and gives me extreme attitude for not wanting to wait days for someone to come fix their mistake. He eventually yells at me that he'll send someone today and then hangs up on me (very mature). The same guy who opened it incorrectly returns to fix it. Though nicer, he, too, is extremely defensive, and blames me! He says he doesn't see a leak, and when I show him exactly where it is, he says he'll put tape where it's leaking and that's the best he can do. I ask if he can simply unscrew it and rescrew it properly, as it's misaligned. He continues to blame my equipment, saying it's not his fault the equipment is worn down (it's literally still under warranty bc it's not even 3 years old). I end up having to debate him about whether or not it's worth his five minute effort to unscrew the leaky part and screw it back on properly. Eventually, he does as I ask. When he leaves, I ask if they leak is fixed, and he says "there was no leak." I could have said the sky is blue and he'd say it's polka dots. tl;dr: they will mess up, blame you, hang up on you, and blame you again. read more

Sweeney's Pool service is a sloppily run careless operation. Use Sweeney's at your own risk. Prior to the pandemic I contracted Sweeney's pool service to build me an 18x36 rectangular saltwater pool. The pool was constructed askew and I had to redesign my patio in order to compensate for the mistake. This cost me thousands of extra dollars. Included in the price of my pool was a pool alarm after five calls, a year and countless attempts to get Sweeney's to deliver. $100 pool alarm for my 30k pool I still to this day have no alarm. I called Sweeney's to open my pool for the season. Their technicians dropped bricks in my pool and punctured my liner. Another several thousand dollar mistake. Don't waste your time with this company. Not only is the owner rude he does not provide solutions for the mistakes that are a result of poor management and attention to detail. I spent way over $12k and hired Sweeney to replace a liner, it turned into a Light and filter and a pool leak, The pool leak after a pressure test for $350.00 dollars turned into fixing the leak for $2500, the leak was never fixed or identified prior to the liner being added, and when they came back to fix the leak the second time they wanted to charge $1700 for a new leak that happened a week after they fixed the old leak and the pool was leaking. Impossible, we hired a new company who said the leak was on the drain completely different location than they said, and that they should identify this during the pressure tests the original leak could not have caused this much water to drain and never addressed the leak and wanted to charge for more $$$ read more

Last year, at the seasons end Sweeny's installed a beautiful new liner. Unfortunately it leaked thereafter. They sent a diver and tried to tell me that it was my fault. The light Sweeny removed in the pool to install the new liner was leaking. The diver never reinstalled the light. This season when pool was opened the level was down. I hired a diver and he stated the light was leaking. He repaired and reinstalled the light. Still leaking and the diver never invoiced me. Small brotherhood of divers. I have had the pool repaired properly. The new skimmer was leaking. Sweenys has a woman (MaryAnne?) that is very snotty. Referred by Angi. Texted with Kenny over a weekend re replacing my sand pool filter and he was very responsive with quotes for a sand as well as a cartridge filter. Contacted the service department on a Monday and went back and forth via text and voice mail for 3 daysl trying to schedule it. In the meantime they sent people out to repair our filter which was not what we requested. It took another 2 days and multiple voice mails texts and a phone conversation discussing cartridge v sand filters. Service sent another team to install the cartridge filter we decided on but brought a sand filter with no sand. When I called Marion in service-- because I needed the filter installed asap and could not figure out the mix up-- she was extremely defensive. This was the first season utilizing the services of this company. Initially, good job on the pool opening and weekly cleaning. However, and this is a big however, it appeared that my pool was leaking. I contacted Sweeney to pressure test the plumbing system. Subsequent to doing so, I was presented with a work order indicating the pool had significant leaks in the skimmers and return lines. I was advised to replumb the entire pool for a cost of $6,000.00 plus the cost of removing and reinstalling the patio. I contacted a professional leak detection company to confirm the leaks. Guess what. . .NO leaks! This is a lesson to all homeowners. Always obtain at least two quotes on any significant issue, unless you are confident in the integrity of the company with which you do business. read more

No one ever awnsers the phone. They don't know how to use a calendar so making an appointment is useless. When they don't show up they don't have the decency to call. You have to try n get in touch with them to find out when they will reschedule by tex. There foreman told me it's just a pool closing what's the big deal. Paid almost $300 for a pool opening. Explained I needed them to do the works and that the pool needed about a foot of water. All they really did was take off the cover. The lady said she explained all I had to do was turn the filter on and pour the shock in after they left with the hose on. Uh, you did not. You weren't even there. I said I needed the works. I paid you in full but now I have to put the shock in, run the filter, put in the ladders and eyeballs or you're going to have to charge me $95 an hour to come back. They put in a new pool liner which looks great and was done relatively fast without any issues however when it came to opening the pool Sweenys was a disaster. They said our pool would not be open until after Memorial Day as they we would have to go on a list for vacuuming. They then contracted out the work to anyone they could find online as they are severely understaffed and the guy that came almost destroyed our filter. They have still not come to clean our pool and it is now going green again. All they are good at is texting and sending the same bill multiple times. DO NOT use this company. Kenny was on point, always answered my questions, and picked up the phone whenever I needed something. When it was time for the job, Tom and his team did excellent work and went above and beyond to make me happy as a customer. Unfortunately the liner they installed failed but that was on the manufacturer with two seams coming apart. When I reached out to Kenny, he sent a diver the next day to diagnose the problem and had the new liner installed in the same week, that alone shows you what kind of customer service they have. Sweeney's has been amazing all around. I cannot wait to float around in my beautiful resort like backyard pool, listening to the soothing waterfall and feeling the warmth of the sunshine on my body. Yesterday Nick turned on the pool and it was a miracle that they turned our backyard into an oasis. It has been incredible to watch their team come in, Tom, Paul, Frank, Emerson, Nick, Nelson, Jose Chris, the office team, Salt guys and Mary, Bob, Mike from the diving team day after day, and anyone I missed, to make it right. We purchased this home about 5 months ago and the L shaped pool looked perfect. It was a disaster that needed major help. Thanks to Nelson for troubleshooting the problems and most importantly resolving them. Guided by this incredible team, we replaced everything except the hole in the ground. Sweeney's office and team have efficiently done the job. Hats off to this company. I cannot wait to bring my granddaughter into our pool and have our children and their spouses enjoy family time in the pool. It truly looks like a resort. I was told Tuesday or Saturday they didn't make it on Tuesday so they should have been here but no so therefore my BBQ planed for Sunday is now canceled there is such a short season for pools on Long Island that to have this company bail on me is really a crap move on their part. I wanted to share my experiences with Sweeny's pools and the owner, Kenny. I've been working with Kenny since he started his business about 5 years ago. Before that, we had gone through 4 or 5 different pool companies and we were never able to keep someone for an extended period as they were either unreliable, or simply didn't do the job well enough. First time working with Kenny, I had a pump that was on it's way out, but Kenny spent the time repairing the pump to get it up and running immediately as we had an event the next day. His repair allowed us to go through that season, with the knowledge that we would be upgrading the following year. Since then, we have upgraded our pump, switched to a salt generator, put a heater in, and re-piped all the plumbing necessary for the job. His staff is courteous, prompt, and does an excellent job on the weekly maintenance. I have only great things to say about Kenny and has staff and will continue to use them for years to come. It's difficult here on Long Island to find a small business that is both service and retail that treats you as well as Sweeny's pools does. Highly recommended! read more

I used Sweeneys for the first time this year because we wanted to save some time this year!! I always do my homework when hiring anyone but this time I didn't...big mistake!! I specifically told them if they couldn't come before June 3rd, then don't come until June 7 as we were going to be away!! They showed up on June 5 so nothing was prepared for them. My daughter, (who I didn't say anything to before we left because they weren't supposed to come) let them in the back figuring I knew about them coming. All they did was dump all the leaves from the cover into the pool and make a huge mess!! We called to complain and they said that their guys would never do that!! My husband said would you like me to pull up the camera footage?? Then they're tone changed and they wanted to make things right!! Soooo after spending hundreds of dollars on shock and chemicals so that they could power vac my pool (at their expense), they give us a 2 hr window of 9 to 11. At 12, we called and they told us they changed our window to 12 to 4 but no one called us!! When they showed up at 4:15, it was pouring and they said they were only there to test the water!! That's when my husband lost it!! When he called the office, the woman said you got belligerent with my workers and he was like we waited all day for a power vac n they show up to test the water!! They finally did come to power vac but left a bill for it!! I paid the initial pool opening bill and told them I wouldn't be paying the power vac bill since it was their negligence that caused us to need a power vac!! Bought a new house in January, 16X38 pool. Old school pool cover with bricks, filled on top with gallons of dirty water (gross). E-mailed to get estimate on cover (Loop Loc) to cover pool until next year. Followed up during the next week with phone call. Advised I was in que, someone would return a call shortly. No return call, no follow-up. This was late May early June. So went with another company, have a beautiful cover for the season and will open pool up next year. I appreciate everybody busy, can't find workers etc. All you need to do is call back and let me know you can't do it or backed up for months.
