I'm a New York City contractor. I know what it takes to run a job right, and Sweeney's ran mine right. Joe handled the consultation and construction. Kenny, the owner, and Anthony, the manager, were on it from start to finish. Timing was on point. Execution was flawless. Promises made, promises kept. Nothing's ever perfect, adjustments were made, plans were modified as we went. Every single time, they handled it without me having to chase anybody. I'm enjoying my pool and wanted to give credit where credit's due. read more

**UPDATE** The maintenance manager, Anthony, contacted me and was extremely professional, apologetic, and respectful. He offered to send over two different pool techs the next morning and have our service completed at a heavily discounted rate. Our techs, Alex and Marlon, were wonderful and did a great job. After the service was complete Anthony called me again to see how it went and ending up comping the entire service for us. While it started off a little rocky, they definitely made right nbd us and we hope to use them again. **** Very disappointed in our service, especially because they came so highly recommended. We hired them for a power vacuum and were scheduled for Monday 6/22 between 11-3. When I got home from work at 3:30 the pool techs were fast asleep in their van in my driveway. Once they woke up they worked for about an hour and told me they don't have time to finish (but had time to nap) and said they would reschedule me for later in the week. They left a hose running in my pool without telling me and it ran so long it almost overfilled. We were scheduled to have them come back and finish this Saturday 6/27 between 1-5 and they never showed up. No one called to inform of us a change in scheduling. When I called to cancel any future services with them and express these concerns all I was told was "I understand." I never post reviews, but we are extremely disappointed in the service we received and after getting minimal response when I called to express these concerns, a review felt warranted. read more

The pool techs, Gerson and Germain closed down the pool for the season. They were friendly and thorough, and explained why my filter wasn't as efficient as it could be for next year. They put all the equipment in the shed, and left the backyard in clean condition. Would definitely recommend! read more

We have been having this company come for a couple of years now and the one who keeps coming to clean out pool is amazing. He is funny and always is cracking jokes as he works if you are outside hanging out with him. I know I am spelling his name wrong, but it is Chevau from what I can remember. My family has 3 dogs in the house, and he rings the bell each time he comes here to let us know he is there. read more

i've used these guys for three seasons now and have always been satisfied with the service, the response and communication. The service technicians Chevaughn and Germaine were able to provide me information on how I could self diagnose a leak and I really appreciate their help. Super friendly and there for you with whatever you need. read more

Had to re-do the entire pool this summer, unexpectedly. Sweeney put the process at ease. First, they came to inspect what was wrong. Kept communication open. I received all updates and all questions were answered. Pool was completely redone with upmost service. I'm very satisfied with an end result. Would totally recommend. Alex and Marlon are the best! read more

Alex and Marlon arrived promptly (even received a text 15 minutes before that they were on the way). They worked as a professional team to close my inground pool - checking all the water bags for leaks or tears. Everything was cleaned up afterwards. Great job - yet again. Would highly recommend these guys!! read more

Just used Sweeney's pools to replace our torn vinyl liner. Was told by our old pool service that they only replace in April so scrambled to find someone during the busy season. Thankfully read about Sweeney's which came through with a reasonable quote and used a coupon. They did an excellent job and all their people were terrific: Ken, Joe, and especially Reed who always helped with every step along the way. Was especially happy to have Reed arranging the schedule and sending people to me as needed to get the job done in a timely fashion. Thank you Sweeney's and thank you Reed! read more

If I could give this place ZERO STARS. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE. They came to fix our pool and broke a clamp that attaches to my filter. When I followed up with them regarding the fact that they broke this, they claimed it was already broken and it wasn't their fault even though the guys who came to my house had no idea what they were doing. They expect me to go on Amazon and buy my own clamp to fix something they broke. I have to get another pool company to come in and pay more money. TRAIN YOUR WORKERS. This place is SHIT. read more

Sweeney's stepped up when others crapped out! They came in, connected all new equipment, did all inspections and had the pool up and running... on the east end when others weren't even answering calls anymore in July. Nice friendly person answering the phone, and getting the work set up in record time. Owner used his resources to get techs out in the hectic times when all are doing overtime to the max. Good reliable people at the helm. read more

Sweeney's Pool service is a sloppily run careless operation. Use Sweeney's at your own risk. Prior to the pandemic I contracted Sweeney's pool service to build me an 18x36 rectangular saltwater pool. The pool was constructed askew and I had to redesign my patio in order to compensate for the mistake. This cost me thousands of extra dollars. Included in the price of my pool was a pool alarm after five calls, a year and countless attempts to get Sweeney's to deliver. $100 pool alarm for my 30k pool I still to this day have no alarm. I called Sweeney's to open my pool for the season. Their technicians dropped bricks in my pool and punctured my liner. Another several thousand dollar mistake. Don't waste your time with this company. Not only is the owner rude he does not provide solutions for the mistakes that are a result of poor management and attention to detail. You would be better off paying his competitors who value their customers. read more

You'll see a theme in previous negative reviews of Sweeney's: if something goes wrong, they blame you. One of the worst customer service experience of my life. Had Sweeney's close my pool last summer. They used a plastic bag and duct tape to winterize a pipe, which seemed less professional than other pool companies but what do I know? They open the pool this year. I go outside to check after they leave (no knock on the door before/after): there's a ton of debris in the pool, the jets are sputtering like crazy, and the equipment is leaking. Clearly, they were rushing and did not stop to check the pool once they finished. No answer via text or voicemail. According to google, it's a common error during pool openings: if everything is not perfectly sealed, you get air in the lines, and the jets will sputter until you unscrew/rescrew everything back perfectly. Next day, the filter isn't working AT ALL. It's running without any water because of the leak, which is super dangerous for your equipment. After getting mild attitude from whoever handles the texts, we finally get a call from the service department. The guy interrupts me constantly and gives me extreme attitude for not wanting to wait days for someone to come fix their mistake. He eventually yells at me that he'll send someone today and then hangs up on me (very mature). The same guy who opened it incorrectly returns to fix it. Though nicer, he, too, is extremely defensive, and blames me! He says he doesn't see a leak, and when I show him exactly where it is, he says he'll put tape where it's leaking and that's the best he can do. I ask if he can simply unscrew it and rescrew it properly, as it's misaligned. He continues to blame my equipment, saying it's not his fault the equipment is worn down (it's literally still under warranty bc it's not even 3 years old). I end up having to debate him about whether or not it's worth his five minute effort to unscrew the leaky part and screw it back on properly. Eventually, he does as I ask. When he leaves, I ask if they leak is fixed, and he says "there was no leak." I could have said the sky is blue and he'd say it's polka dots. tl;dr: they will mess up, blame you, hang up on you, and blame you again. read more

Love the new pool cover. Having a safety cover means one less thing to worry about. Sweeny's workers were very nice and did a great job. These guys are Professionals. After an extensive due diligence process, we chose to hire Sweeneys Pools and Flawless Masonry to complete renovate our older gunite pool and blue stone patio in Old Field. The owners of the respective businesses came over and walked me through everything that would happen. It was a big job and I had a lot of questions but they were very good at walking me through every step. The finished product is below. We went with a bright white marble dust color and the end result look like the Caribbean. We also got a heater so now we've hopefully extended the season by six or seven weeks on either end. They are gentlemen and very fairly priced considering the scope of the work! read more

Sweeney's Pool Service - New Gunite pool by Sweeneys - Pool Cleaners Near Me - Holbrook, New York

I spent way over $12k and hired Sweeney to replace a liner, it turned into a Light and filter and a pool leak, The pool leak after a pressure test for $350.00 dollars turned into fixing the leak for $2500, the leak was never fixed or identified prior to the liner being added, and when they came back to fix the leak the second time they wanted to charge $1700 for a new leak that happened a week after they fixed the old leak and the pool was leaking. Impossible, we hired a new company who said the leak was on the drain completely different location than they said, and that they should identify this during the pressure tests the original leak could not have caused this much water to drain and never addressed the leak and wanted to charge for more $$$ read more

Last year, at the seasons end Sweeny's installed a beautiful new liner. Unfortunately it leaked thereafter. They sent a diver and tried to tell me that it was my fault. The light Sweeny removed in the pool to install the new liner was leaking. The diver never reinstalled the light. This season when pool was opened the level was down. I hired a diver and he stated the light was leaking. He repaired and reinstalled the light. Still leaking and the diver never invoiced me. Small brotherhood of divers. I have had the pool repaired properly. The new skimmer was leaking. Sweenys has a woman (MaryAnne?) that is very snotty. She gave me more nonsense and ridicule than any reasonable business would be ashamed of. I have contacted BBB, Consumer affairs and counsel. Very nasty and rude people along with poor workmanship. Referred by Angi. Texted with Kenny over a weekend re replacing my sand pool filter and he was very responsive with quotes for a sand as well as a cartridge filter. Contacted the service department on a Monday and went back and forth via text and voice mail for 3 daysl trying to schedule it. In the meantime they sent people out to repair our filter which was not what we requested. It took another 2 days and multiple voice mails texts and a phone conversation discussing cartridge v sand filters. Service sent another team to install the cartridge filter we decided on but brought a sand filter with no sand. When I called Marion in service-- because I needed the filter installed asap and could not figure out the mix up-- she was extremely defensive. The guys who came out 3 times were great and extremely apologetic. The communication with the service "department" was abysmal. read more

Did an awful reopening. Filter not put on and Pool was left a filthy mess. Left my pool with tadpoles and leaves and mind you I paid for them to close my pool year before. Basically took the tarp off and put a ladder in they charged me 217 dollars. I called company to tell them what happened and Maryann said that girl messed up and didn't put my right number in and told me she was going to try to get someone to get over to my house but for now I could do it by myself. By myself??? I wouldn't have paid the 217!! She offered me 50 dollars off. Three days later no call no show and no 50 dollars off. The place is a scam!! read more

This was the first season utilizing the services of this company. Initially, good job on the pool opening and weekly cleaning. However, and this is a big however, it appeared that my pool was leaking. I contacted Sweeney to pressure test the plumbing system. Subsequent to doing so, I was presented with a work order indicating the pool had significant leaks in the skimmers and return lines. I was advised to replumb the entire pool for a cost of $6,000.00 plus the cost of removing and reinstalling the patio. I contacted a professional leak detection company to confirm the leaks. Guess what. . .NO leaks! This is a lesson to all homeowners. Always obtain at least two quotes on any significant issue, unless you are confident in the integrity of the company with which you do business. read more

I did my research and had several pool companies come by and give me an estimate, I was very impressed with Sweeney's prompt service and fair pricing. I met with a number of pool companies for my liner replacement and choose Sweeney's because of their reasonable price, detailed quoted, and a number of people recommended them to me. I would highly recommend Sweeney's for you next liner. The guy measuring my pool was detailed and took his time to get exact measurments. The installers did a great job making my pool look like new. I got the liner installed in 2020 and I opened the pool in 2021 and it looks perfect. I look forward to seeing if their pool service is as good as their liner replacement! Great Work! read more

This company is on point. All of their employees are great. They open & clean my pool. Evelyn in the office helps me and answers all of questions and gets my pool up to date. I'm a new homeowner that had no idea where the previous owner put any of their stuff, but Eddie and his associate (wish I got his name!) were both amazing. I didn't feel rushed even though I asked a lot of questions. Absolutely wonderful to work with them and will be using them going forward! read more

Paid almost $300 for a pool opening. Explained I needed them to do the works and that the pool needed about a foot of water. All they really did was take off the cover. The lady said she explained all I had to do was turn the filter on and pour the shock in after they left with the hose on. Uh, you did not. You weren't even there. I said I needed the works. I paid you in full but now I have to put the shock in, run the filter, put in the ladders and eyeballs or you're going to have to charge me $95 an hour to come back. If I could give this company-SPECIFICALLY THE OWNER KENNETH SWEENEY a negative 0 I would. I have so much to say but I will sum up by saying- this dude absolutely refuses to take responsibility for his shortcomings and incompetence of his technicians. He insists on placing blame on customers who HIRES his company as if he's doing you the favor and that there aren't hundreds of other pool servic providers to choose from. I suggest- no I URGE EVERYONE READING THIS GO ELSEWHER- they are SUBPAR at best and you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you use them. We used Sweenys pools for the first time this year. They put in a new pool liner which looks great and was done relatively fast without any issues however when it came to opening the pool Sweenys was a disaster. They said our pool would not be open until after Memorial Day as they we would have to go on a list for vacuuming. They then contracted out the work to anyone they could find online as they are severely understaffed and the guy that came almost destroyed our filter. They have still not come to clean our pool and it is now going green again. All they are good at is texting and sending the same bill multiple times. DO NOT use this company. They are unreliable and you WILL BE DISAPPOINTED! read more

Having lived on Long Island for over 20 years, I experienced countless disappointments when dealing with pool service companies. These negative experiences have ranged from missed service calls (without the common courtesy of a phone call) to services being "allegedly" rendered and then being over-billed for these phantom services. Well, Kenny, the owner of Sweeney's Pool Service and his team are a rare breed. His company's responsive is unmatched. Service calls are on time, attentiveness to the idiosyncratic needs of the customer is unparalleled and his prices are truly competitive. On a personal note, I am divorced now and live out of state and for obvious reasons, I can no longer tend to the pool. knowing that Kenny is there to assure that my kids have a crystal clear and safe pool to enjoy this summer in my absence is a godsend. After reaching out to about 8 different pool companies, I decided to go with Sweeny's. Boy, was I glad I did because the owner Kenny, and the rest of the team are amazing individuals. Kenny was on point, always answered my questions, and picked up the phone whenever I needed something. When it was time for the job, Tom and his team did excellent work and went above and beyond to make me happy as a customer. Unfortunately the liner they installed failed but that was on the manufacturer with two seams coming apart. When I reached out to Kenny, he sent a diver the next day to diagnose the problem and had the new liner installed in the same week, that alone shows you what kind of customer service they have. They gained a life long customer! read more

Sweeney's has been amazing all around. I cannot wait to float around in my beautiful resort like backyard pool, listening to the soothing waterfall and feeling the warmth of the sunshine on my body. Yesterday Nick turned on the pool and it was a miracle that they turned our backyard into an oasis. It has been incredible to watch their team come in, Tom, Paul, Frank, Emerson, Nick, Nelson, Jose Chris, the office team, Salt guys and Mary, Bob, Mike from the diving team day after day, and anyone I missed, to make it right. We purchased this home about 5 months ago and the L shaped pool looked perfect. It was a disaster that needed major help. Thanks to Nelson for troubleshooting the problems and most importantly resolving them. Guided by this incredible team, we replaced everything except the hole in the ground. Sweeney's office and team have efficiently done the job. Hats off to this company. I cannot wait to bring my granddaughter into our pool and have our children and their spouses enjoy family time in the pool. It truly looks like a resort. God Bless Sweeney's for your patience and expertise. Thank you Kenny. You are all amazing! read more

I wanted to share my experiences with Sweeny's pools and the owner, Kenny. I've been working with Kenny since he started his business about 5 years ago. Before that, we had gone through 4 or 5 different pool companies and we were never able to keep someone for an extended period as they were either unreliable, or simply didn't do the job well enough. First time working with Kenny, I had a pump that was on it's way out, but Kenny spent the time repairing the pump to get it up and running immediately as we had an event the next day. His repair allowed us to go through that season, with the knowledge that we would be upgrading the following year. Since then, we have upgraded our pump, switched to a salt generator, put a heater in, and re-piped all the plumbing necessary for the job. His staff is courteous, prompt, and does an excellent job on the weekly maintenance. I have only great things to say about Kenny and has staff and will continue to use them for years to come. It's difficult here on Long Island to find a small business that is both service and retail that treats you as well as Sweeny's pools does. Highly recommended! read more

I used Sweeneys for the first time this year because we wanted to save some time this year!! I always do my homework when hiring anyone but this time I didn't...big mistake!! I specifically told them if they couldn't come before June 3rd, then don't come until June 7 as we were going to be away!! They showed up on June 5 so nothing was prepared for them. My daughter, (who I didn't say anything to before we left because they weren't supposed to come) let them in the back figuring I knew about them coming. All they did was dump all the leaves from the cover into the pool and make a huge mess!! We called to complain and they said that their guys would never do that!! My husband said would you like me to pull up the camera footage?? Then they're tone changed and they wanted to make things right!! Soooo after spending hundreds of dollars on shock and chemicals so that they could power vac my pool (at their expense), they give us a 2 hr window of 9 to 11. At 12, we called and they told us they changed our window to 12 to 4 but no one called us!! When they showed up at 4:15, it was pouring and they said they were only there to test the water!! That's when my husband lost it!! When he called the office, the woman said you got belligerent with my workers and he was like we waited all day for a power vac n they show up to test the water!! They finally did come to power vac but left a bill for it!! I paid the initial pool opening bill and told them I wouldn't be paying the power vac bill since it was their negligence that caused us to need a power vac!! Definitely will not be using them in the future!! read more
