Bought a new house in January, 16X38 pool. Old school pool cover with bricks, filled on top with gallons of dirty water (gross). E-mailed to get estimate on cover (Loop Loc) to cover pool until next year. Followed up during the next week with phone call. Advised I was in que, someone would return a call shortly. No return call, no follow-up. This was late May early June. So went with another company, have a beautiful cover for the season and will open pool up next year. I appreciate everybody busy, can't find workers etc. All you need to do is call back and let me know you can't do it or backed up for months. We bought our house in Sayville earlier this year. We had the pool company that "maintained" our pool for the last 10 years open our pool. After struggling to get them to show up and seeing the condition of the pool once opened, we called Sweeneys Pool service . The pool was a mess. My wife called Sweeneys and scheduled an appointment to begin leaf raking (over 3 ft of leaves in the pool). They showed up on time for each appointment we had. They were very polite and pleasant. As a new owner of a pool, I did not have any experience with maintaining the pool or the filter. They took the time to make sure that I knew what I needed to do to properly care for the pool so I did not have to call and incur unnecessary charges for service calls. As a result of the good service earlier in the summer, we were happy to bring them back and have them perform our pool closing. Joe and Mike showed up on time and completed our pool closing. We will be calling them in the spring for our pool opening. We will also have them reinstall our loop-loc cover as the prior pool company did not install it properly. Called Sweeney's two years ago to set up a pool closing and have a small part of my liner that was slipping fixed. Explained everything and set up an appt. day of no one showed up, I called they gave me a time. I ended up texting the owner ( I think he's the owner) and he apologized and sent his team. They didn't show until about 5pm and didn't do that great of a closing, also completely disassembled my filter. No time to fix the slipping liner. Today called because my liner needs replacing and we need new coping, they said they don't do masonry which is fine, but the person on the phone gave a cursory "send us some pictures for our liner guy" but didn't try to set an appt or anything for someone to give us an estimate. Worst "company" in existence. Only reason I'm giving one star is because Yelp won't allow zero star reviews. This company is a nightmare from start to finish. In an nutshell, scheduled opening, no showed because guy dislocated his shoulder. No call to reschedule. Upon rescheduling, no showed again on account of rain. Again, no call to reschedule. Third time, came to open pool, didn't turn on filter because water level was not high enough. Was told to turn filter on myself, but not informed how to prime pump. Also, charged additional $250 for leak repair, mind you their prices are already ridiculously high. Called to complain that pool opening has not been completed, and power vacuum was still needed. No call backs and no one answering their phones for 4 days. Finally, after several rounds of back and forth, came to power vac the pool. Only problem, they went to vacuum the wrong house. I'm not kidding. Called again to complain. Came back two days later to power vac the right pool this time, however they broke 3 tiles doing it. No apologies, didn't even acknowledge that they did it. They just left the tiles in a neat pile at poolside for me. Called to complain, but still no answer. I can go on, but what's the point. This is by far the worst customer experience I have had, ever with any company pre or post pandemic. They are clearly a bunch of scammers and not sure why they are still allowed to be in business. Avoid the nightmare and stay far away from these crooks. The best part of their service is their daily automated payment reminders! What a joke! read more

I called and set up an appointment to open my pool for today Monday June 7th I was told I would get a text giving me the time the pool service people would come and nope never happened. Terrible service I payed them $290 after their discount to basically fold my tarp,put in my stair and diving board, throw some shock in and turn on my system. I have a salt water pool. They added no salt. They tell me oh well we also checked the filter for leaks. They don't say anything when they leave. Few hours my filter is leaking. They don't clean or do anything else. Sweeney's closed our pool last season and opened it this season. Their prices are total rip off AND they didn't plug in any of our equipment correctly causing our pump not to work. When I called the owner to tell him what had happened, he told me to text him a video in which he responded with what to do and I replied it wasn't working and then no follow up.. Never had his guy come back to look, never followed up with the vacuum we added on (for an additional cost). Now I have a green pool for over 2 weeks, no pump, and out a lot of money. read more

Very poor communication, customer service and business sense. After I sent an image of my pool and told the owner we disposed of our sand filter and everything with it. He sent his men to my home with a new cartridge filter, but no filter pump. As the professional in his business, he should have known to ask me if I have a filter pump. As a new pool owner, I had no idea that there are separate pieces. I believed that it was all one piece and everything came together. He proceeded to say, "I have never been to your house. How do I know what you have?" I fought with him and he was rude and kept interrupting. I told him I want him to give us a pump for free and he said no. So I asked him for prices. He told me he would get back to me with prices for pumps and never called me back. Highly unprofessional. Wouldn't recommend these guys to clean a baby pool!! PS... After I told his men that my shed was new and we just put belongings into it a week ago so I knew there was no pump in there, one of the guys was looking through my shed windows. Sweeney's pool service is terrible to say the least. Don't deserve one star. Please for your own good, do not use this company. We hired them to open our pool. They weren't able to come because one of their workers dislocated their shoulder. OK, rescheduled. When they did finally come, all they did was remove the cover, charged me $325 and said I still needed to fill the pool more and to call them to COME BACK to finish and I thought that was odd, but ok. Next day I called and Maryann told me to just turn on the filter myself and the chemicals were already all set to go. I was not comfortable with this. This is not what the employees had told me I had to do when they came. Never walked me through the equipment or ever indicated that they weren't coming back. We complained, they did return about 1.5 weeks later to fix a leak we had and to activate our filters, but never cleaned the pool. After begging them with multiple calls to please come back as now algae was again growing in our pool, they promised someone would be there Tuesday. Tuesday nobody showed up. Their excuse? Oh, it turns out the guy went to the wrong house and cleaned a random pool. She assured me they would come the next days. They did the whole reopening and cleaning again, recharged us $300 for another reopening (I had already paid for in my opinion for a job not completed initially). Impossible to get people on the phone. We just called our prior pool company to come and never leaving them again. Also they broke tiles in our pool. read more

This is the first time we have used a service to open our pool because we were away through Memorial Day and my husband had to return to work as soon as we got home. We called and scheduled our pool opening for the first day after returning from vacation. My husband brought out all the parts for the guys before he began working so they would be ready to go right away. The guys were very nice and did a good job for the portion of the opening that was able to be completed. But I do feel the job was left incomplete. They told us there was an issue with the system and that it was pulling in air (which they showed me and I agreed with them) and said that the part would likely need to be replaced. It seemed this was an issue that the previous homeowners may have run into (as evidence by some residual silicone on the piece that seemed to be causing the issue), so we suggested that a little silicone be applied and they told me that we can try that or replace the part. At this time, they left and we were charged the full amount for the services. We had to remind them to leave us the diatomaceous earth (for the DE filter) before they drove away since that is included in the price we paid. Early the next morning, my husband and I went out and applied a small amount of silicone to the piece that seemed to have an issue. The system began to run perfectly fine (and is still going strong)! My husband then completed the rest of the job himself (backwashing, testing the system, adding the DE to the filter, running the filter, setting the pump schedule, etc). I understand that sometimes issues with the system can cause a problem with the opening and appointments are booked on a tight schedule, but I would have appreciated a better attempt to resolve the issue (i.e silicone which we had on hand and worked fine when we used it), or an offer to return and finish up once we were able to resolve the issue. I felt a little gypped considering we paid full price for a less than full job. I am sure if there were no issues with the system, the guys would have done a great (complete) job. But this situation has caused me to re-think using pool opening services going forward unfortunately. read more

Some of the best parts of hiring Kenny and the team at Sweeney's Pool Service is the responsiveness and expertise. All communications and questions are returned promptly and always comprehensive. Kenny's continued responses to all my novice pool questions (via email, text or phone) were always quickly answered, thorough and complete and he always had patience and took the time to walk me through many of the aspects of our large renovation job. Even though I had many questions, he never made me like I was pestering him. They came when promised, did the job quickly and professionally, and always left everything clean. And they do great work! There were a few snags along the way with leaky pipes and pressure issues due to a well overdue filter cleaning and I was always informed about any possible new charges and was given options before anything was done. Terrible pool service company. They have missed 4 appointments so far this year...didn't show up because they were too busy. Service is poor...they charge you for the service calls and the extras, yet leave work undone. Then charge you again to come back and fix what they should have fixed in the first place. I've left voice mails for them twice this week and still have not received a return call. They use a subcontractor named Craig who is unreliable and always seems to find ways to upcharge you for extras that in the end are not really needed. The owner Kenny does not follow through or call back...he seems to think the the customer is always wrong. Highly suggest you don't use these guys. You'll be sorry. Beware!!!!! If I could give them less than 1 star I would. Terrible service and rips you off! We had a leak in our hot tub that we called Sweeney to repair. They sent over a subcontractor that was suppose to fix the leak. The subcontractor named Craig could not pin point the leak but said he was 99% sure it was under the concrete. He quoted us $1750 dollars to rip it up and repair the leak. We agreed. After ripping it up, he said he didn't see any leak in the piping but because he did this type of work for years, he was confident that by replacing that pipe, it would stop. Well it didn't. The sad part was he didn't stay to test it. He just assumed it was fixed. We called him for 2 week straight. He kept saying he would be there the next day. BUT he never showed!!!!!! After multiple phone calls to Kenny the owner, Anthony the manager, and Craig, they agreed to have Craig come back over to seal the front of the hot tub. When Craig came back (over 2 weeks later at this point), both my husband and I told Craig to make sure he seals a certain crack we saw. (My husband spent hours looking for the leak btw after Sweeney failed to do so). He sealed everything BUT that crack!!!!!! Guess what? The leak was still there!!!! My husband and I went to Home Depot and got a bottle of sealant. We sealed the crack ourselves. And guess what??? The leak was gone!!!!!!!!! We called Sweeney multiple times to give them an update and to hopefully see if they would give us some of our money back. But they never called back! After 5 days my husband called again and guess what? No one was available!!!! This is the best part of the whole situation. The owner Kenny finally calls back and says to my husband and I quote "Craig recorded you saying the leak slowed down". !!!! We never received any money back, a month of agony dealing with these people, and the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Hopefully you don't have to go through what we did. read more

Called Sweeney's to come out and replace pump motor on my elderly Mom's pool that I determined was the issue upon my last visit up from Florida. They gave us a fair price over the phone and were able to come out and fix within 5 days of my initial call. Last year, after having someone check my pool for leaks to no avail, I contacted Sweeney's Pool Service for help. They pressure tested my underground lines and discovered a leak in the return line to the pool. Soon after, they replaced all of the underground plumbing, but a leak persisted. It wasn't as great as previously, but I still needed to add water weekly. Kenny Sweeney had me measure the water loss accurately for 12 hour intervals with the pump running and not running to discern the nature of the leak. The leak was not evident over the winter, but persisted after I opened the pool with the pump running, Mike did another pressure test and discovered that, in fact, the leak, although small, was still in the return lines. After a while, Nick duplicated the pressure test, but at the pump end of the return line, and discovered that the leak was at the gasket covering the closest return line. He used a drill to tighten the screws on the gasket plate more than I could with a hand screwdriver, and the leak was fixed. Many thanks to Kenny, Mike and Nick for finally fixing my leak. It's been nearly a month now and the water level has not subsided, thanks to Sweeney's Pool Service. read more
