This place is the only thing I actually enjoyed during my stay in Washington, MO. John G's is basically a giant, two-level deck along the river. They serve local beers and have a decent enough number of bar food items. If you want to sit outside and drink some beer, this place is hard to beat. The main level has the bar and is mostly covered. There are umbrella shades at all the tables, and fans or heaters depending on how the weather is going. They are only open March through December, Thursday through Sunday. We visited on a Saturday afternoon after a morning of wine tastings. The hot dog and soft pretzel I got were good and just the fuel I needed to enjoy a few beers before heading to more wineries. There was a guy there playing live music and a cool dog that was more than happy to eat the leftover chips we would throw at him. Bring mosquito repellent.

Such a cool place! It makes me happy to see places like this and Old Dutch thriving in downtown Washmo and nasty, disgusting hoojgasms like Doc Haus closing their doors. Addition by subtraction in that case. =D This place has a totally decent selection of wine from local wineries and local microbrews...so don't come here expecting to get Bud Select. Closest thing they have to something you may have tried before would be a Shock Top or Land Shark. I love the location! Right on scenic Front Street overlooking the Missouri River. The multi-tiered deck can seat...I'm guessing probably 80-100 people, and features frequent live acoustic guitar from local artists. Most of the top deck is covered, and there are fire pits for chillier nights in the fall. John G's is the perfect answer to what to do on a saturday afternoon in Washington between the winery and the late-night spot. The sign may say they're only open until 10 pm on weekends, but I know I've been there until close to 11 on at least one occasion...and someone even brought me and my ladyfriend a blanket AFTER 10 pm on one of those nights...I thought they were coming to tell us to wrap it up!

Good for drinks but stop there. My experience was an empty restaurant, slow service and cold food. Its a nice looking place but they seem to have some execution issues in their kitchen and their service. Not sure there is anything better in the area, but I would only order drinks if I were you.

    John gs burger. Pristine.

Burger was sent back one time because it was just too undercooked for me. Service was amazing and the workers were very understanding and made sure my meal was amazing!

Great service, excellent food and a nice atmosphere. Who could ask for more, but wait..... try Butch's Stout, you'll love it.

The staff is always friendly and welcoming each time I have visited and overall feeling you can spend all day in this place and feel at home. I came today to try their coffee flights. Then theme was St Patrick's. They are small which is perfect because anything bigger would've sent me flying on the sugar! Each drink was different and thoughtful. The flavors blended well with the coffee. I would've liked to have tasted more of the coffee but I have no complaints. This round of flights was tasty with my favorite being the Lucky Charms which tasted like they infused cereal milk into the drink and the Clover with white chocolate, peppermint and vanilla with that striking green hue. They change their flights often, so give them a follow on FB and Instagram to keep up with what they have next.

Cool place, definitely would go back whenever I am in Washington. Service was quick and friendly…read more The egg on my sourdough "egg toast" was perfect, with the yolk soft but not runny, and the white cheddar cheese was nice. I had a Dirty Chai, which I really loved: espresso, chai spice and steamed milk. It was just the right sweetness. The building used to house a hat factory and they have examples of them above the doorway to the restrooms, which were clean and bright, like the rest of the place. Just kind of a cool place all around, and like I said, definitely would go back again! Close to the Amtrak station and the riverfront, and in the historic area of downtown Washington.
