Friday night. 8 pm. Restaurant is empty except for my husband and I. First, we didn't know what door to go in the front or one of the two side doors? Hint: back side door leads to the bar area. Second, we entered through the front door and there was no one there and there was no sign to tell us where to go. Once we found someone, got sat down, everything was good. Third, the menu is limited. I ordered the BlackBerry asiago Pizza which comes in a personal size (see picture) and my husband ordered the Grilled Ribeye sandwich (picture). We also ordered the Bourban Cherry Brie that is served with 6 crustinis ( needs to be 10). It was very good - would have been better if they would have taken the wax off the top and it served warmer - but still, Yum! My pizza I added sausage, and it came out great!! I ate the whole thing. And would definitely recommend, but is it worth the $16.50? It's a bit overpriced. My husband sandwich came out warm but not hot. He said it needed more flavoring. And wasn't worth the $18. But the staff was friendly, and the place is beautiful. Overall, I will be back...not so sure my husband will. read more

The restaurant offers a bar area, air conditioned patio, and regular dining area. We sat in dining area (pictured below) very pretty, loved the ambiance most of all. My husband and I both got the steak sandwich and house chips. It was good. The dinner menu is different so would like to go back and try some dinner plates. Service was also decent. WiFi is spotty, constantly loses sync, couldn't get to any websites and couldn't upload at 72K PDF. The walls are paper thin and you can literally hear every word the guests in the neighboring room are saying. Last night we end up leaving at 12:38am because the people in the neighboring room either fell asleep or passed out with their TV blaring and we couldn't even get to sleep. There's no one on site to assist and when I asked about the WiFi, I received ZERO response. Save your money s d find a better place to stay! read more

Bring your ear plugs, night mask, and hair dryer if you plan a stay here. I wanted to like this place, I really did, but it just wasn't in the cards. The communication and check-in / check-out process was super easy. It was a self-check-in, which I appreciated since we arrived later in the evening. The pictures show a quaint spot by the river. You feel like you should see Huck Finn floating by on his raft. It really is something to see from the outside. The charm ended there. The room itself was just that. A room. Nothing spectacular about it. Not decorated in any manner. You would think the style would match the outside of the building. It didn't. The bathroom was remodeled and was large. It had a nice walk-in shower, but for some reason, when they hung the shower curtain, they left a gap of about 1 foot or more at the bottom, causing water to get all over the floor. There was a hair dryer provided, but it was attached to the wall directly above the outlet which was tucked into the corner of the wall by the sink counter. The hair dryer had a very short cord, so I couldn't use it. I normally bend over and blow my hair upside down. No possible way to do this. I stood at the counter and could blow air on my face and the front of my head, but not much else. I gave up. My sister brought her hair dryer, so she didn't even bother with the one on the wall. My guess is it was installed by a man (as was the shower curtain) and no one went behind him to check the location. The hair dryer could have been further out on the wall - it had plenty of electrical cord to do that. But instead, they coiled up the electrical cord tight and mounted it right above the outlet. The details matter people. Speaking of details - the only mirror in the place was in the bathroom over the sink. I thought this place catered to wedding parties. You need more mirrors to get ready for a wedding than just a bathroom mirror. While these were annoying, they were not life shattering. We just wanted a nice place to lay our heads during our trip. We crawled into bed and watched a bit of tv. They did have Netflix, which was nice. We found a movie to watch and then the AC kicked on. And boy does it kick on. It was LOUD. So much so that you couldn't hear the tv anymore. We were adjusting the volume up and down throughout the movie to match the rhythm of the AC. Now, the movie is over, so we settle in to go to sleep. I will say the bed and the pillows were very comfortable. The door into the room is one of those fiberglass doors with side panels on each side. They have no curtains - only the built-in adjustable blinds in the windows. We closed the blinds, of course, but there were porch lights directly outside. Our room was flooded with light. There was no way to block it. Now that we have the tv off, we can CLEARLY hear our neighbors talking (amongst other activities). And I mean clearly - so much so that we can relate to you exactly what they were saying to each other. They must've been new lovers because this gal went all the way back to 1993 for her story. And it went on until 1:30 am. Then the motel 6 light kicked on and they started the shag fest. Luckily - that didn't last much longer. All in, they finally settled down around 1:45 am. Finally, maybe some rest. Until the AC kicked back on. I always pack earplugs, so I was able to get a bit of sleep, but my sister didn't sleep at all. We awoke early in the morning just before the morning shag fest started next door. (Granted - there's always morning shag for lovers at a hotel, so we knew it was coming.) Thankfully, he wasn't an early riser, so to speak. We packed up and got out of there. I can see how if you are having a wedding and you rent the entire floor or Inn for your wedding party this may be ok. (Just be sure you don't talk about anyone because they WILL hear you.) But to rent out the rooms individually, I think more work needs to be done. Again, details matter. Whoever owns this Inn should personally spend the night in each room. And make sure you have a neighbor so you can understand how paper thin the walls are. Then you will have a better understanding of what your guests are experiencing. I paid less for a room at the Hyatt at the Arch in St. Louis, than I did for this place. When I booked it, I didn't mind the price. I thought it would be an experience. Boy was it! I was very, very disappointed. Thankfully, it was only a one night stop. read more

We stayed in the Honeymoon suite at the inn. The room was cute, the jacuzzi tub was very nice. The bed was super soft, but maybe too soft. It was a little hard to get in and out of. Overall, the room seemed clean, although we did find the sock of a previous guest on the floor next to the bed. We stayed on a Saturday night and there was live music on the patio next to the restaurant, which would be great if you weren't trying to sleep as the music went until about 11/11:30 pm. The walls were super thin. I could hear "everything" going on in the room next to us so we had to turn the ac on to drown out their...noise. I really liked the mobile check - in feature. It was really convenient. I wish that you could give 1/2 stars, because I would rank this 3.5. I believe a little bit of acoustic engineering or sound panels on the walls, and a quality check in housekeeping would make the overall experience a 5 out of 5 read more

This used to be a great place to dine and enjoy memorable dinners. I remember coming here for several Thanksgiving meals years ago. Today, food isn't the main draw so it's lost its charm as the place yo eat in Washington. Now it appears the focus is events, not the dining. Great history and location. read more

I was led to believe this was the fanciest restaurant in Washington, MO... and while it is in a pretty, old house on a hill overlooking the Missouri River, it is really more of a bar than a restaurant. We were there mid-day and we were the only diners. Our waitress was very nice, but knew little about the menu. Her service was very attentive, though. Food-wise, the coffee was great. French onion soup was delicious with a mustard edge. Homemade horseradish-ranch salad dressing was good. Chicken breast and salmon had good sauces, but meats were dry and hard. Prices were pretty high for the area. Overall, ambiance was nice (exept for hard plastic folding chairs) but food was overpriced. read more

Went to Elijah McLeans for lunch on Sat. April 27th 2019. This was our first visit since they reopened. Called ahead to ask the size of their pizzas. Talked to two different people and neither one would give me a straight answer. I didn't think that was a very difficult question and never did get an answer. After receiving the pizza I understood why they did not want you to know---- you only get 5 very small pieces for $16.50. To say that's overpriced is an understatement. I got soup and tea. My husband got a salad and we split 5 slices. When we got the bill, we were overcharged for the salad by $3.00. When we told the waiter he didn't seem to understand. We pointed out the correct price on the menu & he adjusted the price. This place is so overpriced. Can't imagine anyone going back. We certainly will not. read more

I was so glad to see this restaurant reopen. Several years ago this is where my wife and I ate before I proposed to her so this place has sentimental value. We ate here for lunch. It was a limited menu but a good selection. The prices were high for what you received. The wine list was great but again, a bit overpriced. I ordered the rib-eye steak sandwich. It was a bit over-cooked but not dry. The Duchess potatoes were phenomenal. The venue was very clean and beautifully decorated. Mckenzie was a fantastic server. She was personable and attentive but not being overbearing. I would suggest asking for her to be your server. My wife and I found it great to chat with her. We might go back. So excited! This beautiful Victorian mansion has been updated with gas fire places and amazing ambiance. Went with my husband. He surprised me! Currently has a limited menu, and it's expensive. The chicken ceasar salad was delish. read more
