A friend has property near here and recommended we try it for lunch. We are so glad we made the trip from St Louis! We both had pizza for Pizza Day, then a really big cinnamon roll for desert. We had the Mediterranean and Bavarian pizzas. We'd never had a pizza with hot dog, kraut, and mustard, and it was very good. The Mediterranean had chicken, lots of veggies, and olive spread. Both were on pitas. You order at the counter, then someone brings your food to your table. The staff is very friendly. It's located in an old mill, so the decor is pretty casual and rural. We absolutely love The Bistro at the Mill! All their Mediterranean menu items are amazing as well as their regular favorites. The owners and staff are super friendly and always give great service! The inside is uniquely decorated with nostalgic memorabilia of the old mill and their family heirlooms. They have some nice outdoor seating on the front porch too. Good options like Gyros, several Paninis, Reuben, Garlic Chicken, BLT, Spicy Roast Beef, Burger's, Deli meats, salads and more in an old "mill" location with character, friendly staff and casual ambience. Order at the counter, and staff brings food out to your table. I liked it, rate it a 4.0, and reasonable cost of ~$7-9 per sandwich. Today our group ordered a bit of everything, the Fire Gyro, Spicy Hot Roast Beef, Turkey Panini and Italian Beef. All sandwiches were tasty and enjoyed! Each sandwich came with a side, everyone voted for the fresh Potato salad. We topped it off with dessert of Baklava and home-made Scone (not as airy/crumbly but more dense in style). Next time back I'd really like to try their Italian Muffuletta, Garlic Chicken or Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich, all sound great! Also, they have a freshly made soup of the day. We've been looking forward to visiting this place. A Mediterranean restaurant out in the country. The hospitality is in keeping with true Midwest fashion. We were greeted and treated like regulars. We went there with a Groupon. You get an appitizer, 2 sandwiches and 2 wines or beer. All the appitizer choices are Greek, none them to my liking as I am not a fan of Greek apps. Chips and dip (other than hummas) would have been fine. No such luck. They need to add a couple of American appitizers for the Groupon. Otherwise it's a bad deal. My wife had the garlic chicken sandwich. Chicken was rubbery (perhaps microwaved). I had a special BBQ brisket wrap. Meat was tasty and potato salad side was very good. We entered the place a bit disappointed that it wasn't a full service restaurant, but left happy! We had bacon cheese burger, gyro, Greek salad, BLT and the Italian beef. We all loved our entrees. LIterally the 12 year old, 15 yrs old, and both parents extremely happy! My only wish was a greater sides selection - potato salad, pasta salad, and chips are all great lunch type sides. From outside it's got a bit of a boring barn vibe but once you walk in and see their washbasin light fixtures and specialty cocktails you'll feel a bit more of the indie vibe. The food is just what you'd expect from this type of place, soups, sandwiches, and salads with a somewhat Mediterranean flare (you can get falafel, gyros, or a hummus plate alongside more classic American staples like a ham and cheese sandwich and a bowl of chowder). The beer selection is mostly standard American big brand stuff (Bud and Michelob mostly) the wine selection has a couple varieties, and the house cocktail is a charming touch. Place your order at the counter with the friendly cashier then grab a table to wait for your food. The presentation won't be anything fancy, plastic baskets with parchment paper lining, but the food will satisfy and the prices are more than fair. I wouldn't call Bistro at the Mill a must visit if its our of your way but it's easily the best little eatery within 30 minutes of its location. We discovered this restaurant last year on the way to the Lake. One word sums up the food, excellent! Fortunately, we were able to eat there again last week. We had a gyro, tuna salad, potato salad and slaw...everything was great. Service was very good considering they were busy and everything is fresh. Ambiance is refreshing. Stopped for lunch at a great little place in Gerald, MO. Had the special, BBQ beef brisket sandwich served on very fresh pita bread with a side of lobster bisque. All was excellent, very friendly staff explained all the dining options as it was our first time there. We were too early for the live music, but it definitely looks like fun. This Bistro just opened on June 19th in the old Gerald Roller Mill. It is an interest blend of American and Middle Eastern Cuisine. We had the Sampler platter, which is hummus, baba ganoush, grape leaves, falafel, tahini, tzaziki, feta cheeses, olives and tomatoes with toasted pita. Stopped for lunch while on a ride in the area. The owners were very nice and accomodating. It is clean and decorated with antiques and other quaint things...even old doors for tables. I ordered a corned beef reuben, minus sauerkraut and thousand island, but with swiss cheese and the horseradish dressing. VERY good! The pasta salad was a little dry and lacked some flavor...maybe could have used some Italian dressing or seasoning...but it was still pretty good. For a small town especially, this food is 5 Star. I had the Greek Salad with the added Gyro meat and my husband had the Rueben with Turkey instead of Corned Beef. We got an appetizer of some of the best hummus I have ever had. Very creamy, garlicky and totally yummy. The Greek Salad was plenty big with a generous amount of Kalamata Olives and fresh crunchy green leaf lettuce. There was plenty of meat on the salad without overwhelming the vegetables . My husband's Turkey Rueben which, he found refreshing since he likes the combination of ingredients but doesn't not like corned beef, was very fresh tasting with a generous amount of meat and fresh Marbled Rye. It came with a choice of chips, red potato salad or pasta salad. He chose the Red Potato Salad which he very much enjoyed, again fresh. This location has had several failed restaurants. I hope these new business owners are able to overcome the stigma of this. Greek in Gerald? Genius. Franklin County needs some Mediterranean. I can't wait to try some other menu items. Wishing they had some Saganaki though. While not all of the food may not be completely authentic, there was good variety, lots of flavors to please differing palates and a definite desire to please from the staff. read more
