Decided to try this place, though it had mixed reviews. It was mid afternoon and I was in the mood for breakfast, and they serve breakfast anytime. We seated ourselves per the sign, and were promptly waited on. Our server was friendly and attentive, and food came out quickly. My omelette was good and plentiful. It would have been better with real cheese...it tasted like cheese wiz. My friend tried the Popeye omelette with spinach, bacon, and swiss and thought it was delicious. I did notice that they had a great kid's menu, so I'll probably take the grandkids there sometime. Overall, a good experience with good food, service, and prices. Do not eat at this place, not if you value your health. The customer service is terrible. It took over 30 minutes to get waited on. Another 30 minutes to get the food my family ordered. Then we find hair in our food. When we had the owner come out to show him the hair in our food he started yelling at us like it was our fault. This was one of the worst restaurants we have EVER tried to eat at. I wish I could give it a NEGATIVE 10. The owner was too busy talking about and making fun of customers with the servers, the place was filthy and comely disorganized as well. This was BEFORE the Covid outbreak. We decided not to eat ther because after sitting there for 20 minutes and seeing so many people upset about their orders, or lack of receiving them for over a half hour. The way the female owner was talking down to and disrespecting the customers was reasone enough to want to leave. It became VERY uncomfortable as a waitress started screaming at a customer. When we told the owner we were going to leave and i would pay for our drinks, she took my debit card and refused to give it back until I gave her a reason why we wanted to leave. She then called a man from the back to come up and confront me as well as the customer that was being yelled at by the waitress. Have been there a few times and the food is always great and service is perfect until this past Friday 8/21/20. Ordered $50+ dollars in carry out and got home and unpacked and no pieces of pie that we paid for. The service has been consistently great every time we've gone! We've tried a lot of items on the regular and breakfast menus and they were all great as well. The fried chicken, reuben, onion rings, potato skins, gyro, and everything on the breakfast was great! The big breakfast was a favorite, and the pancakes and french toast were really good too. On top of all of this, everything is really well priced. We had a table of 6 for breakfast and it was only $45, with drinks and all of our entrees, and we were all stuffed by the end of our meal. We went for the first time last night. Turns out Fridays are all you can eat Fish nights. Their beef barley soup was yummy. Their fried fish was fresh! I would not recommend this restaurant. My husband and I have eaten here several times with no issues, until today. I ordered the western breakfast skillet with eggs over med. When I got my meal, the eggs were over cooked, the hash browns were barely cooked and there were only a few pieces of finely chopped ham. It wasn't up to par and I brought this to the servers attention. I'm not a hard person to please and I don't usually complain. She did not offer to make it right, bring me any extra ham, remake the meal or anything. As a matter of fact I was told I have to pay for it, and not to ever come back. What? We weren't loud, rude, or disrespectful. She talked to the boss who said not to come back. I told her I would be happy to pay for the toast and coffee that I consumed, but they were very rude to us. All it would have taken to make me happy would have been an offer to make it right. I have never been treated this way in an establishment! We are in our 60's and so amazed at how badly we were treated. They did take my meal off the bill as we were leaving, but we were told to that we were banned from their restaurant. I like the chicken & fish, three weeks ago I called in a order of chicken to go & went & it was ready for me. Two weeks ago I called in two orders of fish to go & when I got to Franklins the order was not ready & the waitress told me they don't do call in orders over the phone because there is to many things to go with it. My husband had a leg amputated recently so I get food to go for him. I guess if I don't feel like standing there to get an order to go from now on I will get fish from Millers Grill or Colton's, it's always waiting for me. And I even made eye contact with all of the waitresses throughout this whole process. Never asked if the food was good or if we needed refills. I'm happy to say that I enjoyed my meal here! Make no mistake, this is a country restaurant. I mean, the kind of place you might find on the side of the road in a small dusty town, mom & kids working the front, dad cooking up grandma's recipes in back. I don't think that's actually what was going on, but it sure felt like it. We ordered fried cauliflower as an app. I'm not 100%, but I think the breaded cauliflower probably came out of a frozen box. But I didn't care, because it was pretty good. The ranch dip is supposed to be homemade, I believe. I suspect it was the kind of homemade in which we take the ingredients out of the box/bottle & mix together. Again, I didn't care, because it was pretty darn good. (My grandma made this fabulous Hidden Valley Ranch Dip from a packet, some mayo, & some cottage cheese. That qualified as homemade in her eyes, & none of us kids were gonna haggle over the finer points with her. We ate it & we loved it. This restaurant's dip, while a different recipe, had a similar HVRD packet flavor.) My husband also had a side salad, with ranch dressing (tasted like the dip). The salad was cool & crisp & delicious. I had a french dip sandwich with fries, my husband had country fried steak, fries, & green beans. My french dip: the bread was cut from a french bread loaf, it was not toasted. I was concerned about this initially since it's pretty much a given that it should be toasted. But to my pleasure, while it was soft, it never got soggy. Unless I dipped it in the Au jus, which was perfect. I have had a lot of trouble finding a good Au jus. Usually it's either too watered down, or too salty, or obviously NOT true Au jus but something made from an onion soup mix. I usually give up & abandon the Au jus. I can't say for sure whether Franklin's was the real thing, but if it was made separately, they did a dang fine job of doing it! They did not ask if I wanted Swiss cheese on it, but after I ate the first half, I asked the waitress & she quickly ran back & brought me a good sized piece, which tasted great. To my surprise, I realized I could eat it with or without & still love it. The meat was tender & juicy. Our fries were steak fries, & again, I suspect they were from a frozen box. But they were done perfectly. I was so pleased that they didn't salt them (I hate it when restaurants over salt/season the fries). I was able to salt them to my own taste, and they were fresh enough that the salt stuck to 'em! You know what I mean. My husband's country fried steak was tasty. He skipped the gravy, because we weren't sure what kind of gravy it was (dietary restrictions). Also, his green beans were a bit cool. But we were happy that they were simple green beans & nothing else. Also, worth mentioning: their fountain sodas were perfect. Often we find that a restaurant will chintz out & use too much carbonation to save on the cost of the syrup. Not Franklin's! While I suspect a few of the things we ate were from frozen boxes, they were still prepared very well, & I won't knock them for it because you're not gonna get fresh, truly homemade everything, for these kinds of prices. Used to be our "go-to" spot for breakfast, especially when the weather was just right for the scooters. We will NEVER go there again. When we politely complained about cold, hard toast, we were told that the toast was always cold. Huh? Then all the times we received warm toast, it was wrong? Then, we were told the toast is free so we would not be getting either a reduction on our bill nor replacement toast. Once we asked about the delay in our order and, again we were told it always takes long time to get breakfast. They need to work on their customer experience. We love going here for breakfast. It's nicely decorated with local artwork and the wait staff is fast and friendly. They use real butter, cheddar cheese and half and half, no scary hydrogenated stuff here! The vegetable skillet is my favorite and I can never finish it, so it's a good value.
