I can see this being problematic when they are busier. This is a pub like restaurant with the primary feature being an extensive variety of ranch dressing. We got the ranch flight with fries, and loved it. None of the options were actually spicy, but they were tasty. My favorites were the jalapeno popper and dill. I got the burger with an onion ring and jalapenos that was supposed to be spicy. It was flavorful but not hot. The ranch flight was a really fun and unique experience. I'd go back agiain.

But I live 4 1/2 hours away. The last several times I have been in St. Louis I haven't had time to stop in. But today I was determined to arrange my schedule so I could enjoy a late lunch here. Unfortunately, this turned out to be an extremely disappointing experience. The service was truly abysmal. If I hadn't made such an effort to be here I would have walked out. When I walked in at 2 pm there were only a few occupied tables. One person was waiting to be seated. When the employee took that person to a table she said she would be right back. I waited for several minutes while I observed a few other employees but no one came back to seat me or the other person who had come in behind me and was also waiting. After we had been waiting for several minutes the other person said, "Maybe we should just seat ourselves?" But another employee walked by and said that someone would be with us soon. Finally someone came and led me to a table. Nearly every table in the restaurant was empty but she took me to the very back table, which was facing a stack of upside down chairs, a 5 gallon bucket, and other assorted storage items. She asked if I knew what I wanted but I needed to look at the menu since it was my first visit. That was my first mistake because she disappeared for quite some time before returning. When she finally returned I said I'd like the side of fries with 5 ranch flight. She slapped a paper on the table and told me to mark the ranch flavors I wanted, then she disappeared again. I marked them and waited.....and waited.....and finally she came back to my table and asked, "What was it that you ordered?" I said I hadn't ordered yet then she said, "Oh, right, you wanted a side of fries" and then she walked away as I was attempting to tell her I wanted to order a sandwich too. But she had disappeared. I was talking to her back because she walked away so quickly. It took more than half an hour before she brought my side of fries and ranch out, she laid them on the table and started to walk away and I had to tell her quickly that I wanted to order a sandwich too. I ordered the grilled cheese, thinking it would be quick, as I had already been in the restaurant for nearly an hour. I had wanted to order a side of slaw too but she walked away quickly. I waited another 45 minutes, during which time I kept looking around the restaurant but all the employees seemed to have disappeared. Occasionally I would see an employee briefly appear but no one came near my table. I saw three different employees at different times but after brief appearances they each disappeared. If I had seen my server again I would have asked her to cancel my sandwich order as I couldn't wait any longer but I never saw her. After 45 minutes I was going to leave money on the table and walk out but just then she appeared with my sandwich. I asked for a box as I said I had to leave and she brought the box. No apology for the wait, or thanking me for coming in. This was such a disappointment! Two hours for fries and a grilled cheese sandwich. There were at most four tables with customers in the restaurant and at least three employees so they definitely weren't busy at midafternoon. The fries were good except they weren't hot, just lukewarm. But they would have been excellent if they had been served hot. The seasoning was very good and I enjoyed the 5 ranch flight. Three stars for food, zero for service. Ambiance would have been good if I hadn't been seated at the last table facing storage items. No pictures of my food because I had waited so long that my phone was dead. I noticed that several of the recent reviews are one and two star and mentioned poor service. So maybe this service issue is recent and hopefully will improve in the future.

I've known several kids who've had wonderful experiences there, and return year after year. Many have gone on to become mentors and leaders at the ranch and in their communities. The Ranch also rents the property for private gatherings. The property is gorgeous with a lake (beach, swimming, fishing, kayaks, paddle boats, and canoes), open fields, horse pastures, trails, pavilion, kitchen, nice restroom and shower facilities, bunkhouse, RV and tent sites, and much more. There's even a beautiful butterfly garden! Over the years, our family has rented the property for graduation parties and family reunions, and I've attended several special events there. I highly recommend them for their kids' programs and private use of the amenities!

I love this. I enjoy planning my own winery snacks. I was bummed when many wineries quit allowing food because they opened kitchens. So if I have to pay $30+ for food. I'm buying less wine. This place was....interesting…read more I'll be honest, it popped up as a pumpkin patch. My sister just moved to the area and was looking for one close for her kiddos, and this was around the corner, so we decided to give it a try. To start, it was $10/person to get in, which wasn't really promoted. We've lived many different places and have never had to pay to get into a pumpkin patch, so that was a surprise. Kids were the same price, also a surprise. The property is pretty cool, they have some farm animals. They sold food to buy but half the animals you couldn't feed and the other half were already full from being fed so much. We assumed it was a regular petting zoo and bought some food before seeing it, so we ended up with leftover bags of food and no animals to feed. The hay ride only went once hourly so you basically had to wait around forever if you wanted to ride it. The maze was cool and the concept seemed really fun to find a message BUT the first word on the message was "God" and honestly, nowhere did they promote this farm as a religious-based experience. Lastly - the pumpkins. We came here for one reason. They don't even grow pumpkins on site, they ship them in, and they don't keep them stocked. I think we had like 20-30 pumpkins to choose from, if that, and they were picked over. We had a 4YO and a 6YO and they couldn't pick any of the pumpkins up, all the kid size ones were already sold. I feel like this could be a good spot for what it is, and if it was marketed as that - a Christian family fun farm experience. But, that's not what we had expected based on the marketing they had, so it was a bit of a disappointment for us.

Despite all of this activity next door, the restaurant is unaffected, both in access, parking, and view. Despite being near the highway, the view from a booth is not bad, with some rolling hills in the distance. The service was timely and attentive. We had a reservation and were seated almost immediately. The interior has a dark steakhouse feel with a lot of wood materials and the edges of whiskey barrels on the wall as decoration. A great environment to unwind, have a drink, and fully enjoy the meal. The food itself was exactly as ordered; a medium-rare ribeye with creamy risotto and broccolini. I don't frequent steakhouses very often, so I may or may not be back for that reason alone. It did make for a pleasant and memorable birthday dinner!

After a whole lot of research, knowing I wanted scallops for a main, I chose The Crossing. Our meal started with a complimentary offering of their bleu cheese soufflé with crisps and bread service--both delicious. I enjoyed a glass of their current "by the glass" Chardonnay, and my boyfriend got a Yeungling (poured table-side). I got my scallops, as planned, which certainly did not disappoint. Cooked perfectly, fresh and delicious. The wilted romaine seemed odd at first but totally rounded out the potato mash at the base, with the absolute flavor-bomb of the shiitakes. Highly recommend this dish any day! My boyfriend opted for the NY Strip; we both agreed it was one of the best steaks we'd ever had; seasoned perfectly and cooked masterfully. There was a slight mishap whereby a food runner gave him a tasting portion of the strip (likely meant for another table); we first didn't realize and were very disappointed with the size. However, without a word from us, the chef came out and personally explained, apologized, and corrected--I didn't snap a photo of the full portion when it came out, but it was perfect and much more what we expected. That brings me to the service, which was spectacular. Several staff members gave us a personal touch and they all seemed to be genuinely happy to be there. The space is beautiful and intimate. It was moderately busy and still quiet. The atmosphere feels upscale, but not pretentious or unapproachable. This place was on my radar for a long time, and I sure wish I'd gone long ago. If you're thinking about it, just go!! I can't wait to come back and try the chefs tasting menu--thank you for a wonderful dinner!
