We went to Twisted Ranch while in STL for an event. It was a rainy day, so there weren't many people. The restaurant was under staffed, and we had to wait a bit. I can see this being problematic when they are busier. This is a pub like restaurant with the primary feature being an extensive variety of ranch dressing. We got the ranch flight with fries, and loved it. None of the options were actually spicy, but they were tasty. My favorites were the jalapeno popper and dill. I got the burger with an onion ring and jalapenos that was supposed to be spicy. It was flavorful but not hot. The ranch flight was a really fun and unique experience. I'd go back agiain. read more

I was so disappointed with my first visit to this restaurant. I had bookmarked Twisted Ranch several years ago, and as a ranch lover I was excited to experience it. But I live 4 1/2 hours away. The last several times I have been in St. Louis I haven't had time to stop in. But today I was determined to arrange my schedule so I could enjoy a late lunch here. Unfortunately, this turned out to be an extremely disappointing experience. The service was truly abysmal. If I hadn't made such an effort to be here I would have walked out. When I walked in at 2 pm there were only a few occupied tables. One person was waiting to be seated. When the employee took that person to a table she said she would be right back. I waited for several minutes while I observed a few other employees but no one came back to seat me or the other person who had come in behind me and was also waiting. After we had been waiting for several minutes the other person said, "Maybe we should just seat ourselves?" But another employee walked by and said that someone would be with us soon. Finally someone came and led me to a table. Nearly every table in the restaurant was empty but she took me to the very back table, which was facing a stack of upside down chairs, a 5 gallon bucket, and other assorted storage items. She asked if I knew what I wanted but I needed to look at the menu since it was my first visit. That was my first mistake because she disappeared for quite some time before returning. When she finally returned I said I'd like the side of fries with 5 ranch flight. She slapped a paper on the table and told me to mark the ranch flavors I wanted, then she disappeared again. I marked them and waited.....and waited.....and finally she came back to my table and asked, "What was it that you ordered?" I said I hadn't ordered yet then she said, "Oh, right, you wanted a side of fries" and then she walked away as I was attempting to tell her I wanted to order a sandwich too. But she had disappeared. I was talking to her back because she walked away so quickly. It took more than half an hour before she brought my side of fries and ranch out, she laid them on the table and started to walk away and I had to tell her quickly that I wanted to order a sandwich too. I ordered the grilled cheese, thinking it would be quick, as I had already been in the restaurant for nearly an hour. I had wanted to order a side of slaw too but she walked away quickly. I waited another 45 minutes, during which time I kept looking around the restaurant but all the employees seemed to have disappeared. Occasionally I would see an employee briefly appear but no one came near my table. I saw three different employees at different times but after brief appearances they each disappeared. If I had seen my server again I would have asked her to cancel my sandwich order as I couldn't wait any longer but I never saw her. After 45 minutes I was going to leave money on the table and walk out but just then she appeared with my sandwich. I asked for a box as I said I had to leave and she brought the box. No apology for the wait, or thanking me for coming in. This was such a disappointment! Two hours for fries and a grilled cheese sandwich. There were at most four tables with customers in the restaurant and at least three employees so they definitely weren't busy at midafternoon. The fries were good except they weren't hot, just lukewarm. But they would have been excellent if they had been served hot. The seasoning was very good and I enjoyed the 5 ranch flight. Three stars for food, zero for service. Ambiance would have been good if I hadn't been seated at the last table facing storage items. No pictures of my food because I had waited so long that my phone was dead. I noticed that several of the recent reviews are one and two star and mentioned poor service. Twisted Ranch has been on my list for a while and finally made it out there. It is an exceptionally fun concept if youre a lover of Ranch like me. They have 34 flavors of Ranch made in house and a variety of different foods and flights to give you a taste of each one. I ordered the flight of 15 with the Ranch seasoned fries. They were crispy crispy crispy in the way I love them and were the perfect vessel for dipping in those Ranch sauces. Some of the stand outs for me were the Parmesan Peppercorn that hit in all the right ways with being flavorful, creamy and not overpowering; the smoked tomato basil was an add on for the grilled cheese and its killer and was a great choice; the OG Twisted Ranch held its own of course; the steakhouse was a recommendation from my server and he was right! Those were to name a few that rounded out my top five. Some call outs also included Roasted Garlic and I'll warn you its heavy on the garlic so you better be a garlic lover and the creamy Balsmic. My least favorite was the mango as it was very subtle and reminded me of a Pico de gallo without much flavor to it to set it apart. I ordered the grilled cheese and loaded tots without the bacon. If anyone knows me understands grilled cheese is a favorite. The bread was nicely toasted to give it a good texture and it was not soggy. When we arrived, there were maybe five occupied tables in the entire restaurant, so we were surprised when the bartender told us there would be a long wait. A manager then suggested we sit at the bar, which was an odd recommendation considering I am very visibly pregnant plus my husband is 6 years sober. Almost immediately afterward, a waitress appeared and said she could seat us but warned that it would be at least 10-15 minutes before she could take our order. The waitress asked the bar bartender to seat us and took off. When seated the bartender took our drink order, then seemingly vanished into another dimension. About 15 minutes later, our waitress returned and asked if we were ready to order. As we began ordering, she interrupted to ask what drinks we wanted, then hurried off to get them before we could finish. We ordered the 13-sauce flight with fries, Cajun pasta, and a Philly sandwich. Several of the sauces we selected were unavailable, so we chose substitutes. 15 minutes later, the sauce flight arrived with tater tots instead of fries and still missing two sauces. We were told there were "no fries were up, so I brought tots instead" yet moments later fries were delivered to a neighboring table that had ordered after us. At that point we were hungry enough that we let it slide. Unfortunately, things didn't improve. About thirty minutes later, my Cajun pasta arrived looking as though it had spent quite a while under a heat lamp. The noodles and cheese had solidified together and it was difficult to even stir. We were then told my husband's sandwich was delayed because the bun had been burned. Another 15 minutes passed before it arrived on a replacement bun, but the meat and peppers themselves were so overcooked they were charred. At that point, we asked for boxes and the check. Everyone has an off day, and I genuinely try to be understanding as a long time waitress myself. However, between the long waits, missing items, unavailable menu selections, incorrect sides, overcooked food, and disorganized service, this was a disappointing first experience. What made it especially surprising was that the restaurant was nearly empty the entire time. The service was great even though the kitchen was 45 mins behind they still kept us updated on how long the food would've etc. Unfortunately the food has went up in price quit a bit since they moved and it's just not worth the price. My burger was not even cooked all the way through. All i got was a burger and loaded fries with dr peppers and spent 50 dollars then plus tip over 70 bucks definitely was not worth any of that. When you enter, it definitely gives off sports bar vibes. We decided to do the 5 ranch sampler which comes with fries. We decided against the 13 or 34 sampler due to price and not being interested in trying all the flavors. My favorites that we got were Asian zing and jalapeño popper. My least favorite was the sweet onion bacon I believe it was called. I love onion and bacon, but it just had a strange flavor. For our entree, our server recommended the chicken tenders, which you get with a side and your choice of 2 ranches. I got pasta salad for my side, which was decent. The chicken was nothing special, as the server had said it was. It was good, just not as good as she hyped it up to be. This place did not live up to the hype. This restaurant has a lot of opportunities to improve; however, it's currently in the pits. We are under the impression that all their staff is new. Between our server and watching/hearing other servers at different tables, it seems like there were plenty of mistakes made with orders and bills. From our own experience, our waiter didn't introduce himself nor ask us if we'd like drinks, our food took way too long to come out, my husband had to get his order remade as the guy who brought it out spilled it on him (thank God it wasn't wet/saucy), and more. Although the chicken tenders and burger were well made, the former was supposed to come with two ranches and didn't and the latter was the ranch burger but didn't have any ranch on it (we opened it up). The fries were not good on their own, but if you looked at them as a vehicle to move ranch into your body, then they fulfilled their purpose. We did get to the point of wanting to try ranches from our flight but not wanting to eat anymore of the mediocre fries... We are interested in returning here for a drink at their bar or maybe going to a trivia night (Tuesdays at 7pm), but we're not in a rush. I came here right after I got out of the airport. It was late and I thought they stopped serving food after 9pm, and not sure if I was right or not, but they still did serve my husband and I. My husband got the 'Chicken Bacon Ranch' flatbread which he enjoyed and I got the 'Jack the Ripper Burger' which was good. It wasn't my favorite thing but definitely decent. The place was fairly empty with a few people at the bar but we had to go up to the bar multiple times to get assistance such as ordering, getting the check, etc. but everyone was very friendly. We met the manager and told him it would be a great place for NJ. It would do extremely well .. especially in the beach area. I think Twisted Ranch is a fun dining experience to try different ranch flavors and compare and discuss your favorites together. The fries flights are a must-do and perfect to share! I appreciate they printed out the flavors you chose so you know what each dip cup is. We also tried the Jack the Ripper Burger which was average, but nothing special. They have a ton of other typical bar food fare and fun drinks from the bar, so anyone can find something. Their new location in the Central West End is much nicer and you can easily walk to a few dessert places afterwards, but street parking is harder to find, especially on the weekends. The food was great and reasonably priced the first time. I was surprised today at the increase in cost and the quality of food decline. I'd expect if I'm paying more, the food would at least be better quality. The ranches were great, but the food definitely lacked. A $60 tab for 2 meals (one being a kids meal) and an appetizer is a little extreme especially when it's not like the portions are huge or anything.
