Super salad - the extra large salad is a substantial meal and an incredible deal for $10! Pecans, pineapple, cranberries, shredded cheese and a massive amount of moist grilled chicken on top of crisp romaine. I forgot to snap a picture before I was halfway through it. So good! 5 stars! It was "W" day so we got half off our pizza!!! Make sure to go on the day your last name lines up with the letter of the day! A, B, C, D last names really get a good deal since their day comes up twice a month! We found out this was once one of the entertainment hubs of Springfield with the drive thru theater nearby where people could go after and play arcade games too. Casual service and casual spot, pizza is very good! Thin crust style, honestly some of my favorite. Been here twice now and appreciate the specials they have. We always get the medium size for 2/3 people and find its more than enough to get us full, plus leftovers for later. Will be back to try another flavor soon. read more

We decided to try a little local pizza place Thursday because we passed it everyday and it's not a chain. We love pizza and generally find places like that have better food. It's not fancy which is also exactly what we wanted. When we got home and started to eat I noticed how tough the crust was ,looked underneath and our pizza was literally burned black as charcoal. They don't put much sauce at all and a ton of cheese which they tell you at the counter so keep that in mind too. It had so much potential but it failed badly. For $25 for a medium pizza I'd expected more. Very disappointed and won't go back. I'm sad about that too since it's so close. read more

Daaaaang, this place is awesome. Joey's is pretty much my Platonic ideal of pizza: thick, well-done crust, TONS of cheese, light tomato sauce, a generous hand with the toppings. (I opted for pepperoni. This was a good choice for me.) I appreciate the personal pan sizes existing, (sometimes compromise cannot be reached), but two hungry people put away a medium without any fuss. There were 0 leftovers. I didn't quite manage to figure out how the letter system for discounts worked on my first visit, but I can imagine it would be helpful for regulars, cuz this 'za ain't cheap. It's worth it, though, and all that cheese ain't cheap, either. Vibe is super casual, but the joint was clean and clearly cared for. Bring some quarters for the arcade games and, uh, can I come too? The only way we'd return here is for take-out pizza ONLY. This place was probably a nice place to eat for dinner up until 1970. This place needs a SERIOUS decor upgrade. My date and I have been checking out the various pizzerias in Springfield. Joeys has a classic, old-world pizzeria feel with a gracious staff. The pizza was solid but definitely needed more sauce. Joey's is the best when it's not over cooked. I get they're known for their crunchy crust but I hate when it's burnt on the bottom. Although these days I have my husband pick up the pizza and bring it home. I can't eat in the restaurant, but more on that soon. I love my cheese, and a basic double cheese pizza is almost too much cheese. They use canned mushrooms, which I'm not a big fan of. I wish fresh were optional. I'm a big fan of the veggie pizza as well. Pepperoni is always crispy, almost burnt, which is delicious. Although the pepperoni doesn't agree with my stomach. The reasons I can't eat in this restaurant is that it's THE definition of a dive. The roof leaks, to where they have drip buckets scattered around various places inside the restaurant. It's dark, smells moldy, and hasn't been cleaned thoroughly or remodeled since it opened. So it screams germs and bacteria to me. The staff looks less than savory as well. Like they were just sort of pulled off the street and plopped in here to fill space. If you can get over the fact it's an absolute dive, it's pretty good food.
