After 5 years of having a rattle in my suspension that would wake the dead, and after being to 4 other shops (SF bay area) and being told it's everything from breaks to bearings, the steering colum and the subframe mounts (i know they were full of it), I was about to just sell my car but figured I'd let one more shop have a good at it. I'm glad I did! They changed my struts and then found the problem... my swaybar end links needed to be greased. They won't upsell, won't undersell, they'll only let you know exactly what's needed to ensure reliability based on their decades worth of experience. The truck wasn't drivable - misfiring, overheating while idle, coolant leaking, milkshake oil, etc. It was confirmed that it needed a swap as practically every single engine-related error code showed up during inspection. We shopped around and got working on swapping the old 2018 for a new 2023 motor. They finished within a couple of days, and she's been driving beautifully ever since then. I highly recommend doing business with this company, but do recognize that they're a very small shop and are likely backed up year-round. Just know that the service is well worth the wait. read more

Great service. The guys here are awesome and happy to help which makes me feel good about seeking help for all my car needs. I had a starter installed about 9 months ago and it all of a sudden went out. These guys advocates for me and got it replaced. I've been coming here since they opened with the original owner being Joe. New owners are just as great. Two thumbs up. 5/28/19 update On 5/1/19 my ac stopped working on my Honda CRV on my way back from Vegas :( I wanted to fix this especially with summer coming along. After exploring my options as to what to do and where to fix the ac, I came to Joe's engine one again where I received the best price and customer service. After calling Honda in Temecula they even recommended that I take it to Joes engine. This place is great! Wonderful down to earth service. I have taken 2 cars in now, one of them mulitple times and have been very happy with all the work done so far. Very fair prices. The only issue I have is that they are not open weekends so you must get the work done during the week. Save yourself some money and avoid the dealerships. The small mom and pop shops are so much more personal and worth the consideration in my opinion. read more

Josh and Shane...... Mechanic dream team. New owners of this shop in the last at least 6 months. First off, they are able to fix the problem other shops cannot figure out. That is the biggest reason they are #1. Secondly, they were the only shop I have been to that helps get you a rental when your car has to be worked on, or wait for parts. Yes it can get hot in the front office from the sun shining thru the windows, but while waiting leave and they will call you when it ready. I have not enough words to describe the hardships I have been going thru to get my brakes fixed. But, Shane and Josh figured it out. Their prices a little high on the 1 hour shop fee of $100, but at least they figure out the issues no other shop can get done. They have my blessings as the new Angels Mechanics of Menifee. Update: After my brakes have now been fixed and paid for so far they are working still, but the normal new brakes smell. Good luck to the owners here. read more

A recent road trip back from San Diego to Vegas (home) the Honda hit a cement brick on the 215 and rendered it un-drive able. Quickly on the Geico APP a tow was requested and with some cross referencing here, on Yelp! Joe's Engine Repair shop was selected for the repair. After coordinating alternative transportation home to Vegas, I relied on the consistent and thorough communication from Josh to assist in the repair. He was fantastic, sent pictures, helped assist with Geico and the claim, answered my many initial questions, he continued to maintain open communication as navigated the details of my retrieval upon completion, from out of state. Despite the stress ensued by a waiting game for the repair to be done, the quality of service made for a truly great experience. A mouse chewed through the engine wire cable harness of my wife's car. The dealership was not willing to repair it, only to replace it by keeping the car for 4 to 6 weeks in order to drop the engine to replace all of the engine wiring at a minimum quote of $7,500.00. I declined and instead took it to Joe's Engine Shop where I've had great work done previously. They very easily fully repaired the engine wire cable harness in one day, reset the engine diagnostics and tested it. Everything was back to normal in one day at a cost of under $500!!! These fine, young men are so earnest, respectful and sheer genius when it comes to itemizing repair costs (Shane - easy to work with) and Josh - well, he's the Einstein of car repair. Let's not forget 'Soda-Pop' and the other young mechanic in the shop (who's name I didn't get). Super experience - AND they fixed my beloved, ratty, 2004 Ford Focus - resuscitated the rear wheel bearings, walking me through the valley of repair costs the entire time. One of the most friendliest fastest most efficient shop I've ever taken my vehicles to. The staff are all friendly and very informative.

Took my car in to get the oil pan gasket replaced, upon inspection they recommended replacing all timing seals, timing belt, timing sprocket and crank position sensor and I agreed and got my car back. After driving it a couple days I have to pull over because I notice my engine is on the verge to of overheating. Under the hood there's a tiny pinhole leak in one of the coolant hoses, and I know this was not there before :(. I called them and let them know, they fixed it for me and offered to pay for the hose which was about $18, and I still had to pay $60 for labor after spending $1200 (which is fine) on the other repairs. I really do appreciate all their work and they have great service but just confused on why I was charged for the labor :/ read more

WOW! This place is Awesome! I was referred by the tow truck driver who towed my van when the alternator went out. I took my chances and I'm so glad I did. Shane was wonderful and excellent customer service! He spent a lot of time with me on the phone about my vehicle, and in the end I found out it was covered under honda warranty. I needed a part changed, and although it was a simple unscrew one, screw in the new one, it was under the car and I couldn't reach it. So I came here after they were recommended on social media. They gave me a reasonably fair price and it was done in about 10 minutes. Since that went well I came back when I needed more extensive work done. I trusted him (Paul?) when he gave me the estimate and said it was the lowest I was going to find. So I let them do the work, and while waiting, he kept saying what a great deal I was getting. When I decided to post a review, I checked with some other well recommended places to see how great of a deal I got so I could post it. As it turned out, this great deal was $100 higher than everywhere else I checked. And some of those places were known to be on the high end. I'm on an extremely tight budget, and $100 is a huge deal for me. I had to stop going to physical therapy to afford to fix my car. That $100 dollars would have made a difference, and I would have been able to go to a few more sessions. I'm very disappointed that he could continue to tell me how lucky I was to get such a great deal, while knowing it wasn't true. Shame on them for taking advantage or an older person. I gave them two stars for getting the work done, even though I had to come back to have them adjust what they had just fixed. My advice is to check around on the price no matter how great of a deal they tell you it is. read more

On her way home, the car overheated. The L.A. mechanic, who repaired her water pump gave her a laundry list of additional items that needed repairs... Her sticker shock was an estimate of over $2,500! Luckily, she decided to drive home to seek a second opinion. The next day, a friend recommended that she call Joe's Engine Repair. She needed an Asian engine repair specialist and was pleased when they quoted her nearly half the cost! They gave her a 100k service, tune-up, new spark plugs, tension belts, timing belts and struts, and incredibly, they didn't skimp on car parts. They only installed Lexus certified parts. Now, her Lexus drives like a Champ! Normally, I like to go with female family members to mechanic shops. From experience, I have found that many mechanics like to take advantage of women. They assume that they know nothing about cars. But, I can happily say that in this case, Joe's mechanics were honest. They were also very patient with her explaining what needed to be repaired. Great shop. Dont trust many places due to dishonest mechanics. We've all meet the type, tell you you need your engine fixed, when all you need is a starter. You dont get that here. Great mechanics, friendly staff, always get right back to you.
