Repairs: - front brake pads replace - serpentine belt replace - 3 engine mounts worn out (replace with new ones) - transmission fuel change (dealer fluid), will need to go total of 3 times. Came in two separate times because he didnt have parts for engine mounts. Finished both days in 1hour and 15 min each time. Very quick, honest, hard working. Consider: His labor fees might be a bit more expensive than other shops, but he knows his stuff and is good at it. So I'm willing to pay a little more to get a professional job done. read more

Finding out these guys didn't do anything that was requested. I went about 9 months ago to get front rotors replace and check the brakes, transmission fluid change on my Honda pilot @ 85 k miles . Today I had my 100k check where I asked the new shop to check transmission oil and it was dark black which tells me nothing was done at 85k. Brakes are already squealing more than ever. I would not recommend this shop. If you take your car there ask them to provide proof the work was done.. don't get scammed read more

I went to Tans due to the front end of my car making strange noises. When I walked into Tans the lady at the counter was very nice and accommodating. She told me to bring the car in at 8 in the morning. I dropped it off and within an hour they called me and said I need new bearings on the front wheels and shocks in the back. My car was fine then Mon.I had a loud screeching sound and grinding when I put on brakes.I am a senior on a limited income who just paid my mo.bills so this was not the time for car repair as I have no savings.I went to Tan told him & his sweet wife what I heard.He drove it off to ck.it out while I waited with his wife.I got emotional as I was very low on cash at this time.She assured me to not worry it will be alright.As it turned out my rotor was bad on driver side as well both pads, plus back brakes were grinding which needed cleaned and realigned.He took my car in right then. Kinda sucks having to give these guys a low review. Really nice folks, and very quick. Brought my car in for diagnosis, I thought I had a bearing issue, but it turned out to be brakes. I have done my own brakes for over 30 years, but decided to let these guys do them, this would let me try a new mechanic as I moved to the area a couple years ago. They had car done initially in a couple hours and everything seemed fine. About 2 weeks go by and I start getting vibration, brake fade and smoke coming out of brake area. I took car back to find out the put very low quality pads on that failed. He put better pads on the car and the same day they start squeeling very bad. They did not bother putting brake quiet on the newly installed pads. I typically spend 50-90 bucks doing my own brakes and always use best pads. They charged $320 plus tax for a job that has now failed twice. read more

Absolutely the best! I had purchased a used vehicle from a dealership in Mission Viejo on a Friday. As part of their pre-delivery inspection and repair work on the vehicle, the dealership had done a valve cover gasket replacement. After purchasing, the car was smoking on the drive back to Murrieta. When I got home, I looked under the car and there was a significant amount of oil leaking. After calling the dealership and listening to them tell me "they will think" about seeing if they can help me the following week. That is another long story. But, I wasn't going to wait. I took the car to Tan's first thing in the morning hoping he could at least diagnose the problem. I am pretty sure no other mechanic would have even taken the time to look at the problem on a Saturday morning without an appointment, but Mr. Trang did. He confirmed that the valve cover gasket was installed incorrectly and was leaking oil. He also told me that it could have caused a fire since the oil was dripping onto the exhaust manifold! I asked if he would fix it and he did that same day! There was no way I could be without a car for days while the dealership thinks about what to do. Now, I have to go after the dealership for their shoddy work. Amazing service and an honest mechanic!! read more

My 5th cylinder was misfiring and I purchased 6 new spark plugs and one coil. I needed to have these installed and I called several mechanics in the area. It was Thursday afternoon and I needed to have my car fixed by the weekend. One mechanic couldn't fit me in until Monday. The 2nd place I contacted said they could fit me in on Friday with labor cost of $275. I decided to try one more mechanic and walked into Tan's Auto and the owner, Tan, greeted me and I explained to him my predicament and he said he wasn't too busy and would take my car immediately. I asked him how much he would charge he said he would do it for $200. I said awesome, let's do it. He completed the job in 2 hours and I was back on the road by 4:30pm. His wife, Tu, worked at the front counter and I spent my 2 hours while waiting for my car having a very nice conversation with her. I will be back for anymore mechanical work I need knowing that his prices are more than fair and he didn't try to sell me up on additional work which I know my car needs. But, I will bring it back to have additional preventative maintenance work done on my car. read more

I have been going to Tan ever since he opened his shop in Menifee. A lot of years and a lot of cars! Two Toyota Siennas, Mini Cooper, Ford Mustang, Ford Escort, 2 Nissan Pickups, Kia Forte, Honda Accord and a Ford C-Max and he worked on each one like it was his own! He is a man of integrity, and has a beautiful family! I think I have watched his kids grow up as mine did. This is a family run business in the truest sense of the word. I thought I had reviewed Tan before at least a couple times, but I cannot find one to edit, so I am writing this "new" one. This past week my Sienna motor started making a "clacking" noise that kept time with the rpms in the motor. As soon as I noticed it I started asking folks what it could be. I live on disability so not looking forward to a big repair bill..... anywhwere. So I took it to Tan and asked him to listen to it and tell me what he thought. I had been told it was either a stuck /collapsed lifter or a connecting rod bearing that had "spun". Either of those two jobs is almost enough to just get another motor. Tan listened and said it did not sound like it was coming from the bottom of the motor where the rod bearings are located, but rather he thought it was coming from the top part of the motor "in the back". I asked him to do an emergency oil change just in case my filter was clogged. He obliged and when that did not solve the problem he told me to bring it in today (Monday). It got worse over the weekend, even to and from church, where it was the subject of not a couple of prayers :-) So I took it in this morning, and while waiting to drop it off, one of the mechanics from an adjacent shop walked out to my car with me in it and the engine running. " What do YOU think that noise is?" I asked. He confidently stated, "You have a bad rocker bearing or cam bearing. It is definitely in the bottom end of the motor. It is going to be an expensive repair, no matter how you look at it." My heart sunk! When Tan came out, I asked him again what he thought. He said, "It is definitely NOT coming from the bottom of your motor. Leave it with me and IF I can fix it I will charge you only for my labor and no more than two hours. I rode my bicycle home and waited anxiously all day for THE call. I was worried sick and after doing some research was preparing myself for spending over $2000.00 for a USED engine! I got THE call around 3pm. Tan's lovely wife advised me that my car was ready. I asked what the diagnosis was? She gave the phone to Tan who very calmly told me that "there is no more noise!". I know very little about automotive mechanics, but as I understood it when I added some gasoline additive to my tank last week, a bunch of crud was freed up and went where it was not supposed to go wreaking havoc and leaving a bunch of crud in my intake manifold and everwhere it could get. Among other things one of my plugs had fouled out and left a "dead" cylinder. Somehow all of that produced the flat knocking that was heard by all, and diagnosed by all EXCEPT Tan as a bad rocker knock! Tan could have charged me whatever he wanted and I would have gladly paid. HE saved my car! He charged me only what he had quoted before beginning the job. I cannot think of a time when I was happier to part with $150.00. Just another true story in my long relationship with Tan and his wife where I can point to his knowledge, skill, and integrity. I am 72 year old Veteran. I am driving a 20 year old Toyota Sienna. Thanks to Tan it is once again purring like a kitten. Just cannot say enough about Tan! As far as I am concerned he is absolutely THE BEST mechanic in Menifee. But most of all he is honest and a man of integrity! read more

This shop is unpretentious but excellent. I think it is surrounded by 9 other repair shops but this place is the gold standard. Fair prices and great work. Brought my 2003 Highlander in for brakes and tuneup. Old car runs like new! And even though I asked him to replace all 4 brake rotors, Tan convinced me that they could be surfaced one more time and saved me a LOT of money. Also replaced all spark plugs for $200. You practically have to dismantle the firewall in a 6 cylinder Highlander with the transverse engine to do that. Check cost at dealer! Astronomical. Anyway, couldn't be happier. Highly recommended.
