I had a great experience with 395 Auto & Performance. Rene, the service advisor, was very helpful from the moment I arrived and walked me through the inspection process. I scheduled an appointment as well. I brought in my 2021 Toyota Supra for a second pre-purchase inspection for extra reassurance since Carvana offers a 7-day return policy. Rene gave me helpful pointers and general maintenance information about the Supra, including what to expect during ownership. He also explained that I would receive pictures from the inspection, which I really appreciated. The inspection cost $250 and took about 2 hours. Afterward, I received both a text and email with the inspection results and recommendations. Rene also shared that he regularly partners with local shops for car inquiries and refers customers to specialists when needed, which showed me that they care about getting people the right help. The front entrance has a smaller waiting area with movies playing, which made the wait more comfortable. One helpful note for first-time visitors: when entering the lot, the main entrance is to the left rather than straight ahead. All Dash lights always on. On full free exam Rene discovered my transmission needed to be replaced. He took multiple photos showing major damage. Wow! What a refreshing finish to my service appt. I left my BMW at 395 thinking I needed a new tranny, or at least a lot of expensive tranny work. Late in the day, I got an email that was an extensive report from a full inspection of my car and I was ticked, thinking I told them what I needed to get fixed, and concerned I would get billed for an inspection I didn't need. That's what the dealer did to me and charged me $500. Rene explained that the inspection was free and that it told him the tranny was fine. It just felt like it was slipping because the motor had a bad cylinder. It only needed a new coil and plug. The quote to replace all 6 was substantially less than the tranny would have cost me, and now I trusted him, so I had him replace all 6 and now my car runs like it did when it was brand new. Plus, we have the inspection report that we can use as a service plan monthly to stay ahead of any future problems. Very clean, professional shop with an honest guy running it. I just moved to the area not very long ago. I have been getting my car serviced at my old local shop in San Diego for the longest time. I got home from a trip and my car was asking for maintenance. I usually just get oil done at Walmart but they were closed the time I got there. I decided to ask for quotes for a service locally. Rene at Old 395 Auto Service responded promptly. He got a day and time set up and even though I got there early he took care of me right away. A full inspection was done and they showed me a very dirty air filter, so we got that replaced. Rene is a super trustworthy mechanic . The dealership reccomended some very expensive repairs for my cars and Rene was going to do them for a very reasonable price. After i took the car in for the repairs Rene called me and told me there was nothing wrong with the car, and that the dealership was just trying to make money off of me. He did a full inspection and rotated my tires and everything free of charge. I offered and insisted to pay him for the wasted time but he refused it saying that those services are free with the inspection. Do not waste time going around, he is the man. read more
