Forget the rest Dyno Trans is the best!

Stop shopping around! YOU HAVE FOUND THE BEST TRANS SHOP IN CALIFORNIA. Dyno Trans (Steve) is Amazing!!!!! I can not speak highly enough about the very polite and HONEST gentleman. The Ford dealership quoted me $10,000 worth of transmission repairs for my 2015 Ford F-150 4wd XLT. After Steve inspected the vehicle he repaired my truck for under $1,000!! This guy is amazing, a God send and I now trust his team and him with all of my vehicles. Thank you for being honest Steve. You are the best and it shows by your yelp reviews!!! Cheers

My Tundra that Dyno keeps in great shape for me

Ask the Community - Dyno-Trans Transmissions

Hi, I have a 2015 Infiniti Q70. I had regular tranny maintenance work done & now it's running not the same. I don't trust the place now. Maybe Dyno can check it out, give me an honest eval of the issue? Are you certified for Infiniti transmissions?

When the car was picked up, the odometer showed the car was driven 3 miles after the car was dropped off. My husband called Walter to ask if there is a reason why the car was driven. Walter said sometimes it is for the transmission fluid replacement. My husband, without disclosing the miles the car was driven, asked Walter how far they would typically drive a vehicle. Walter said no more than a mile. At that moment, my husband disclosed that the car was driven 3 miles (we live less than 2 miles away from his shop). Walter then changed his reasoning, to "well we want to make sure you didn't leave us with a messed up vehicle and then tell us we messed it up." His reasoning was completely illogical. We only went to have the transmission oil replaced. Was he trying to suggest that my husband looked like a shady person? Our car insurance doesn't cover him or his employees to be driving the car. Anything could have happened during the 3 miles the car was driven. For all we know, either Walter or one of his employees took it out to run an errand. Maybe instead of coming up with poor excuses, Walter should have apologized and told my husband he will look into why the car was driven. Do not trust Walter or his employees.

Quick summary: Hands down the best service and quality of work in Southern CA. His attention to you…read moreas a customer and the transparency in his work along with his knowledge of transmissions really give you peace of mind . Okay so I bought a (new to me) 2014 Silverado back in 2019. As I was going through the research process I joined multiple Facebook groups regarding the Silverados. The one thing that became obvious was that the 6l80 transmissions aren't all that great. In reading one of those posts someone had posted that they had gotten their transmission rebuilt by Walter, they gave him and the shop high praises. I screenshot the name just to keep it handy in case I ever needed it. Well unfortunately that day came in 2014. My transmission produced some codes and my trans fluid was cooked, I decided to contact Walter. Right away he walked me through the process. He explained the codes that popped up and what things could have led to them. Overall, his approach to our conversation really convinced me to take my truck down to him all the way from Orange County. He told me exactly what he was going to do the truck. Since I have the 4.3 Silverado he installed a different torque converter in it but he went ahead and called me before he did it for transparency. It took about a week to get the truck back and let me tell you; it's running amazing!!! Hopefully I won't need another rebuild anytime soon but I will be taking the truck to him for scheduled maintenance. Again, since I kinda had done my research in the 2014 Silverado 1500, I had all kinds of questions regarding towing, trans fluid operating temps, and everything thing in between and Walter was amazing at answering my questions and guiding me through the process. So glad to have my freaken truck back and running better than when I had purchased it.

I became a customer / client of 1st Choice Autoworks through Chris Tusow at SubiWorks, next door…read more Chris has been the only mechanic to mod, work on, or do anything with my heavily modified, camping, overlanding, off-roading builds...I'm really particular and developed a really close working relationship and friendship with Chris. Last year, he decided to branch off and focus primarily on mods, custom builds, and speciality work on Subarus whiling changing the name of the business to RFC Industries. In doing this, he sold the service side (oil changes, tire rotations, basic repairs, etc.) of his business to 1st Choice Autoworks. So I've been coming to them for the non-off roading specific stuff that Chris still does for me. Luke and everyone else here is incredibly kind, knowledgable, and professional. This past weekend, I panicked since I'm leaving for an extended work trip (1.5 months) which involves my heavily modded Subaru Forester and I had an axle issue days before I was supposed to leave. I texted Chris over the weekend and he said come to 1st Choice by 8:00am on Monday. I didn't have an appointment, and just showed up. And this isn't my style. I'm usually so highly organized and do my best to be respectful, schedule appointments, and go through the proper channels. But I woke up at 6:00am and was in Murrieta by 8:00am. I explained my situation and they were so accommodating and understanding and kind. It took all day but they helped me out and got my car back in good health and I'm so thankful they were cool with me just showing up. This shop is trustworthy, professional, and now is really familiar with off-roading and modded, lifted Subarus due to SubiWorks' and Chris' involvement. Please give these guys your business if you're in the area. They also work on non-Subarus. Thank you, 1st Choice dudes. I appreciate you!

I didn't like that first place so I waited on it (and I worried about it a lot!). My friend referred me to this shop, where they had done his brakes at a good price. I took my car in and one of the owners (Luke) helped me out. I told him the story of the previous quote, but said let's start from scratch, bc those last guys were sketchy. Luke put the car on the rack, then came back in with a look on his face as if to say, "you're not going to believe this." I had no idea what was about to happen. I was dreading how costly it might be - I had delayed the repair by months. We looked under my car to see these supposedly cracked & leaking tie-rod boots and other issues... and everything was IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. Which makes sense bc my car has only about 50k miles. Saved me tons of money (that would have been wasted if I had trusted the other place). Needless to say, I'll be returning to 1st Choice to get my brake pads and other work done when it's *actually* due to be done. Thank you guys. I can see why many folks appreciate you.

From the time I arrived I was very impressed and thankful for the information they provided. I waited a reasonable time for them to complete the work and we were out the door. They informed me about the braking in of the pads and I appreciated that. I worked on tow tractors in the Navy before I became handicapped and found that there professionalism was very refreshing and appreciated as I did not receive that at prior auto repair facilities. After getting the car returned and was driving home it was like handling so much better. I thank them and for also while putting the car back together they had found other issues that should be looked at in the future. The quality of work and professionalism is outstanding and I would like to hope people will continue to bring their vehicles to this facility to get their work done. If you do please make sure you explain everything that happened during the operation of the vehicle (like what conditions, when and so on). Also explain any work you had tried to do personally so they can give you and accurate diagnosis of your vehicles issue or issues. I was fortunately referred by my son-in-law and daughter who were down here visiting my spouse and me as my spouse had a stroke the month before. They were from Washington State and this facility had fixed it famously. My son-in-law, daughter and grandkids all drove home with no issues and their vehicle is still running strong to this day. We were told on multiple occasions that "Steve" was the only person who could help us. "Steve" went on multiple weeklong vacations without any sort of coverage. This is my experience with AAMCO Temecula (Feb 2025) after a transmission repair, shared so others…read morecan make informed decisions. My vehicle was inoperable and had to be towed in. Steve, the manager, said the passenger‑side CV joint/hub assembly was broken and needed to be repaired before he could diagnose the transmission. He also suggested that fixing it might resolve the issue entirely. At the same time, he explained that if the CV repair didn't fix the problem, the assembly would need to be taken apart again, resulting in additional labor charges. Relying on his explanation, I authorized a transmission rebuild. When I asked for an estimate, I received a verbal quote of $6,000. I did not receive a detailed written estimate before the work was completed. The final invoice was $5,998. After reviewing it, I had concerns: the labor and time charges appeared structured to match the quote rather than reflect a clear breakdown of actual work performed. When I picked up the vehicle, Steve made a comment that immediately raised a red flag: "the transmission really didn't need much." That statement did not align with the idea of a full rebuild costing nearly $6,000. But the work was done, the bill was paid, and I took the car home. Soon after, issues surfaced. The kickdown function didn't operate properly, and the transmission engaged harshly when shifted into reverse. I returned on March 3, 2025, for warranty service. I was told to leave the vehicle with no appointment, no timeline, and no estimate of when it would be inspected. The car remained there for about a week, and when I picked it up, neither issue had been fixed. Later, at another shop for unrelated work, I was told that bolts on one of the front axles--installed by AAMCO--were rubbing and required spacers. This was not a minor oversight. It was an installation error that could have caused further damage. I paid $92 to have it corrected. In May 2025, I noticed fresh transmission fluid under the vehicle. The leak appeared to be coming from the top of the transaxle case. At that point, Steve's earlier comment that the transmission "didn't need much" became more concerning. I contacted him and asked directly whether the transmission had actually been rebuilt. He did not give a clear answer. Because of work obligations, I was out of the area for several months. Still, on February 25, 2026--one day before the warranty expired--I contacted AAMCO to report that the issues remained and to request warranty service. There is no email contact for this location, so everything had to be done by phone and no way to create a paper trail. Steve said he would honor the warranty beyond the expiration date, but again refused to provide a firm appointment or timeline. I was told to bring the vehicle in and leave it indefinitely. When I expressed concern, he said, "You are not going to have this your way," and explained that inoperative vehicles were prioritized over warranty work. On March 17, 2026, I sought a second opinion. I arrived at another transmission shop at 8:30 a.m. and was seen immediately. Within about 15 minutes, the technician identified the issues that had gone unresolved for nearly a year. The transmission was overfilled with fluid, causing the leak from the vent. Additionally, the transmission pan bolts were loose. The technician corrected both issues on the spot. The contrast was impossible to ignore. One shop required open‑ended drop‑offs and failed to resolve basic problems. Another diagnosed and corrected them in minutes. Bottom Line: I would not recommend AAMCO Temecula: * The estimate lacked a clear, detailed breakdown * The invoice appeared structured to match the quote * Post‑repair issues were not resolved despite two opportunities * Work performed required correction at two other shops * The warranty process lacked structure, scheduling, and accountability I'm posting this so others understand what they may encounter. Automotive repairs are expensive, and customers deserve transparency, proper workmanship, and a reasonable warranty process. For now, I'll take my chances somewhere else and would advise others to do the same.
