I became a customer / client of 1st Choice Autoworks through Chris Tusow at SubiWorks, next door…read more Chris has been the only mechanic to mod, work on, or do anything with my heavily modified, camping, overlanding, off-roading builds...I'm really particular and developed a really close working relationship and friendship with Chris. Last year, he decided to branch off and focus primarily on mods, custom builds, and speciality work on Subarus whiling changing the name of the business to RFC Industries. In doing this, he sold the service side (oil changes, tire rotations, basic repairs, etc.) of his business to 1st Choice Autoworks. So I've been coming to them for the non-off roading specific stuff that Chris still does for me. Luke and everyone else here is incredibly kind, knowledgable, and professional. This past weekend, I panicked since I'm leaving for an extended work trip (1.5 months) which involves my heavily modded Subaru Forester and I had an axle issue days before I was supposed to leave. I texted Chris over the weekend and he said come to 1st Choice by 8:00am on Monday. I didn't have an appointment, and just showed up. And this isn't my style. I'm usually so highly organized and do my best to be respectful, schedule appointments, and go through the proper channels. But I woke up at 6:00am and was in Murrieta by 8:00am. I explained my situation and they were so accommodating and understanding and kind. It took all day but they helped me out and got my car back in good health and I'm so thankful they were cool with me just showing up. This shop is trustworthy, professional, and now is really familiar with off-roading and modded, lifted Subarus due to SubiWorks' and Chris' involvement. Please give these guys your business if you're in the area. They also work on non-Subarus. Thank you, 1st Choice dudes. I appreciate you!

This shop has my trust. It was easy to get an appointment and they seem knowledgeable and honest. A…read moreprevious (questionable) shop had given me a pricey quote for some suspension work they said needed to be done. I didn't like that first place so I waited on it (and I worried about it a lot!). My friend referred me to this shop, where they had done his brakes at a good price. I took my car in and one of the owners (Luke) helped me out. I told him the story of the previous quote, but said let's start from scratch, bc those last guys were sketchy. Luke put the car on the rack, then came back in with a look on his face as if to say, "you're not going to believe this." I had no idea what was about to happen. I was dreading how costly it might be - I had delayed the repair by months. We looked under my car to see these supposedly cracked & leaking tie-rod boots and other issues... and everything was IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. Which makes sense bc my car has only about 50k miles. Saved me tons of money (that would have been wasted if I had trusted the other place). Needless to say, I'll be returning to 1st Choice to get my brake pads and other work done when it's *actually* due to be done. Thank you guys. I can see why many folks appreciate you.

From the time I arrived I was very impressed and thankful for the information they provided. I waited a reasonable time for them to complete the work and we were out the door. They informed me about the braking in of the pads and I appreciated that. I worked on tow tractors in the Navy before I became handicapped and found that there professionalism was very refreshing and appreciated as I did not receive that at prior auto repair facilities. After getting the car returned and was driving home it was like handling so much better. I thank them and for also while putting the car back together they had found other issues that should be looked at in the future. The quality of work and professionalism is outstanding and I would like to hope people will continue to bring their vehicles to this facility to get their work done. If you do please make sure you explain everything that happened during the operation of the vehicle (like what conditions, when and so on). Also explain any work you had tried to do personally so they can give you and accurate diagnosis of your vehicles issue or issues. I was fortunately referred by my son-in-law and daughter who were down here visiting my spouse and me as my spouse had a stroke the month before. They were from Washington State and this facility had fixed it famously. My son-in-law, daughter and grandkids all drove home with no issues and their vehicle is still running strong to this day. Thank you again Temecula Auto Repair and Transmission for not only taking care of me, but my daughter and family. You took care of my whole family. I can not Thank You enough. :) 5 stars are not enough to give this business. I wish I could give them more. :)

I brought my vehicle to this shop for a transmission diagnostic and unfortunately had a very…read moredisappointing experience. My vehicle remained at the shop for over four weeks before I received any final answer regarding the issue. I was charged for diagnostics and was informed that no problems were found, despite the fact that the transmission continues to slip exactly as it did before service. I also noticed a significant amount of fuel had been used while the vehicle was in the shop's possession. I understand that road testing may be necessary during diagnostics, but the amount of fuel consumed seemed excessive given the outcome. Overall, after more than a month without a resolution and still experiencing the same transmission issue, I left feeling frustrated with the communication, turnaround time, and results provided. I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future customers.

We were told on multiple occasions that "Steve" was the only person who could help us. "Steve" went on multiple weeklong vacations without any sort of coverage. We were finally able to pick up our truck today only to find it covered in rat feces and mold. Rats have chewed through seatbelts and seats as well as multiple different power cables. We were offered a $250 discount due to the delay however, no compensation was offered for the state of our truck.

This is my experience with AAMCO Temecula (Feb 2025) after a transmission repair, shared so others…read morecan make informed decisions. My vehicle was inoperable and had to be towed in. Steve, the manager, said the passenger‑side CV joint/hub assembly was broken and needed to be repaired before he could diagnose the transmission. He also suggested that fixing it might resolve the issue entirely. At the same time, he explained that if the CV repair didn't fix the problem, the assembly would need to be taken apart again, resulting in additional labor charges. Relying on his explanation, I authorized a transmission rebuild. When I asked for an estimate, I received a verbal quote of $6,000. I did not receive a detailed written estimate before the work was completed. The final invoice was $5,998. After reviewing it, I had concerns: the labor and time charges appeared structured to match the quote rather than reflect a clear breakdown of actual work performed. When I picked up the vehicle, Steve made a comment that immediately raised a red flag: "the transmission really didn't need much." That statement did not align with the idea of a full rebuild costing nearly $6,000. But the work was done, the bill was paid, and I took the car home. Soon after, issues surfaced. The kickdown function didn't operate properly, and the transmission engaged harshly when shifted into reverse. I returned on March 3, 2025, for warranty service. I was told to leave the vehicle with no appointment, no timeline, and no estimate of when it would be inspected. The car remained there for about a week, and when I picked it up, neither issue had been fixed. Later, at another shop for unrelated work, I was told that bolts on one of the front axles--installed by AAMCO--were rubbing and required spacers. This was not a minor oversight. It was an installation error that could have caused further damage. I paid $92 to have it corrected. In May 2025, I noticed fresh transmission fluid under the vehicle. The leak appeared to be coming from the top of the transaxle case. At that point, Steve's earlier comment that the transmission "didn't need much" became more concerning. I contacted him and asked directly whether the transmission had actually been rebuilt. He did not give a clear answer. Because of work obligations, I was out of the area for several months. Still, on February 25, 2026--one day before the warranty expired--I contacted AAMCO to report that the issues remained and to request warranty service. There is no email contact for this location, so everything had to be done by phone and no way to create a paper trail. Steve said he would honor the warranty beyond the expiration date, but again refused to provide a firm appointment or timeline. I was told to bring the vehicle in and leave it indefinitely. When I expressed concern, he said, "You are not going to have this your way," and explained that inoperative vehicles were prioritized over warranty work. On March 17, 2026, I sought a second opinion. I arrived at another transmission shop at 8:30 a.m. and was seen immediately. Within about 15 minutes, the technician identified the issues that had gone unresolved for nearly a year. The transmission was overfilled with fluid, causing the leak from the vent. Additionally, the transmission pan bolts were loose. The technician corrected both issues on the spot. The contrast was impossible to ignore. One shop required open‑ended drop‑offs and failed to resolve basic problems. Another diagnosed and corrected them in minutes. Bottom Line: I would not recommend AAMCO Temecula: * The estimate lacked a clear, detailed breakdown * The invoice appeared structured to match the quote * Post‑repair issues were not resolved despite two opportunities * Work performed required correction at two other shops * The warranty process lacked structure, scheduling, and accountability I'm posting this so others understand what they may encounter. Automotive repairs are expensive, and customers deserve transparency, proper workmanship, and a reasonable warranty process. For now, I'll take my chances somewhere else and would advise others to do the same.
