My favorite breakfast place in Arizona. Just discovered this locally owned cute mom and pop spot a few months ago but it's become my go to. The couple that own it are super friendly, they make their own jam and the biscuits are incredible. Just had it this morning 2 eggs over medium, 4 strips of bacon and a biscuit with peach jam with peach pieces in it. Delicious. And the same local folks are in there all the time. read more

The food was served cold. We ordered ham/ one egg with biscuits and gravy. The biscuit was dry and doughy. The gravy was also cold and fairly tasteless. We were there once before and ate sandwiches. The service was good. Timely and friendly with good follow-up read more

Great service! Great Food!! Nice family run business. Katie was our server :) would definitely go again!!

I saw Joe's promoted on Channel 3 news the week of July 4th. We tried it on Sunday. Cool looking inside-we sat next to a non-functioning juke box. How cool would "that" have been, IF it worked?! Nice waitress, did the minimal waitress duties. I asked if the juke box WORKED, and she said, "no." I see where Mr. Joe said it DID. Maybe he'd better inform his employees?! ANY business owner who responds to a review of mine like Mr, Joe immediately did, needs to take a deep look into their psyche & question WHY they over-reacted so viciously, so fast! All it was, was "my opinion" of his restaurant--isn't that WHY they "have" reviews?! Grow UP Mr. Joe, take a deep breath, and swallow. It's ONLY a truthful review, about the experience my husband and I had!!!--NOT the whole city of Phoenix! "My" opinion...I thought the food was CRAZY expensive! EVERYTHING! It was maybe 50% full on a Sunday morning. That time of day places are usually packed! I got an eggplant omelet, tasty BUT...looked for eggplant pieces, never found them. I "ALWAYS" butter my biscuits/pancakes as soon as they arrive, so the butter is melted. I saved my biscuit until last so the butter would melt-it never did. I had to ask to have it microwaved. That must mean it wasn't REAL butter. The butter on the pancake I could deal with-I just poured IMITATION syrup over it. (They HAVE pure maple syrup but they charge you extra!) There's soooo many GREAT places to eat, WHY pay high prices for under-par food?! SAVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!!! read more

Yes, definitely go there. Reminds you of an older diner back in the day. Service is very good. Ambiance, well u can say there is none. That doesn't matter because the food is outstanding!!! read more

We went for Father's Day! Everyone was so nice and so excited to celebrate all the dads in the restaurant. The staff fawned over our infant son. Breakfast was amazing! The jam they make in house was some of the best I've ever had and we bought a jar to take home. Great coffee. Not busy when we went. Definitely should be packed. read more

Ate at Joe's Halloween morning. Food was terrific. I had the eggs Benedict, my girlfriend had the biscuits and gravy. We shared and both were very, very good! Now we know why the place is so crowded on Sunday mornings. read more

My family and I have eaten at Joe's Diner a few times and the food was good. The last time I was there I was having breakfast with a friend. We enjoyed the food and were talking. **Suddenly the Owner came to our table, asked about the meal, then said we had been sitting there too long and that we should leave to free up our table!!**We were shocked and embarrassed!! There were other tables available, there weren't any issues with the staff, we were just eating and talking. I am Mexican American and my friend is white so unknown if that had something to do with it. It was more embarrassing because I had told my friend how great this place was. I haven't been back since. read more

Great old school diner with fantastic food!!! Fresh! Yummy! Affordable! Great service! And it's a locally owned gem!!!$

I have been craving some good pancakes for a week now. And Joe's is a classic good place for all of it. From the coffee to the 5 star service! Kristina was so kind and made sure everything was out fast and hot. Even got to meet the owner who was just as great. Not my first time in here but I'll always come back. Also they have homemade jam! read more

Best pancakes in Phoenix. Or as the Fonz aka Henry Winkler calls them "pancakes from Heaven." Joe's Diner is the local watering hole. The breakfast water cooler of sorts. Where you go to find out the latest news about your town. Or enjoy a morning with friends, chatting over a cup of coffee. It's not the typical place you'd expect an Emmy Award-winning actor to seek out. Nor a tourist. But that's where I found myself shortly after arriving in Phoenix. Sitting in a booth near the jukebox, listening to the conversations around me, and enjoying a simple breakfast. When I choose to eat at Joe's Diner, I didn't know that the owner, Joe Seriale was a classically trained chef. Nor that he had cooked at the Fairmont San Francisco and the Boulders Resort & Spa. Unlike a modern hipster diner trying to be retro, Joe's Diner is the real thing. A Rowe AMI jukebox machine sits against one wall silent, unplayed. Possibly forgotten. A reminder of what once was and is no longer. It's a seat yourself type of establishment. Choose from a red or green vinyl booth or a nondescript table with stacking chairs, the type you'd see at church or school. Laminated faux woodgrain tabletops featuring business cards and ads from local businesses. Old gas station signs and photos reminiscent of a day long ago. It's quiet. There's no music or TV. You can have a conversation and hear the conversations of others. One waitress running the restaurant, taking orders and busing tables. The way it used to be before big corporations and their franchises rolled in. Regulars sit in the same booth every day. Men talking about golf, AA meetings, and Bible study. Where it's not uncommon for heated argument between family members. Mother against daughter. They leave for a few minutes and then come back, order their food and enjoy their breakfast in a state of detente. Cold stares across the table. Soundless except for the clattering of silverware against plates. The food at Joe's Diner is homemade from scratch. Scratch meaning starting from nothing. You won't find a bag of Krusteaz's or Bisquick pancake mix in the kitchen. Jams, jellies, biscuits, gravy, croissants, pastries, and of course, their pancakes are made at Joe's Diner. Fun tip: They sell 3,000 pancakes a month. Twice a day they make pancake batter and three times on Sundays. They make every effort to source and use local ingredients. Their flour, coffee, cream, honey, and chorizo are all produced in Arizona. Despite being a diner, prices were high. Higher than I had expected. This was Phoenix, not San Diego. An $11 meat and cheese omelet? A $10 breakfast burrito? Visions of saving money no longer danced in my head. The best value items are the: Pancakes - $4.79 for a short stack or $5.79 for a three stack Waffles - $5.99 topped with strawberries and whipped cream French Toast - $5.99 Biscuits and Gravy - $4.49 Waffles are my go to. But today I wasn't in the mood for carbs. I wanted protein. Something light and not too heavy to tide me over for the two-hour drive to Sedona. Eggs. The two eggs special comes with seasoned homemade potatoes and choice of toast or biscuit for $7.99. Tip: Order the two egg special separately a la carte from the sides menu and save $0.22. But my hips didn't need the potatoes so I ordered an egg and toast for $3.98, not including tax. My over-medium egg was over easy. But the toast. Oh, the toast. I love a good hearty piece of bread, especially wheat or a multi-grain bread. Gluten all the way baby! The thick slices of bread were almost twice the size of a standard slice. The only bummer. It came pre-buttered, perhaps margarine or ghee. But I'd order it again, specifying to leave off butter. And send back the over easy egg. read more

Worst steak I've had in a long time. Tough, flavorless, full of gristle, no seasoning, no love. Pancakes are great though.

This was my give it a second try place. We were seated right away. I ordered the Monte Cristo, but it was probably the most mediocre Monte Cristo I've ordered. It had no swiss cheese on it and no strawberry preserves to dip it in. The coffee is still not impressive. On the plus side, my dates chicken fried steak and eggs were great. I think there are some good items there to stick with but a lot of stuff that I would not suggest. read more

I really enjoy going to Joe's Diner. It is a perfect mom and pop type place where you get excellent service and the food is top notch, home made. I was in the area yesterday morning with a friend, and the service from Carrie D and Tom was outstanding. They made me feel special and important. If you have not been to Joe's, go in and try it. You'll be hooked same as me. read more

Joe's is a great diner with breakfast and lunch food. It's kind of hidden I've passed by it a lot over the last 3 years I've been living in the area and only now just tried it. But it's fantastic, great service, and delicious food. The chorizo biscuits and gravy is out of this world! We also tried the Monty Cristo with homemade raspberry/cranberry sauce also bacon was cooked perfectly not too soft not too crispy. Overall if you're in the area Joes is a must try! read more

A very solid diner, locally owned and operated. Joe will often stop by to make sure you're enjoying your meal. The best pancake in town as far as I'm concerned. Their lunch options are also plentiful and I'm a fan of the tuna melt. The servers have all been around a long time and the kitchen is especially expedient. read more

Most delicious pancakes I've ever had. Bacon was thick and juicy, lean too. Eggs cooked to perfection and sausage patties yummy! I had the fresh maple syrup which was superb. My son had the patty melt with fries, and it looked awesome, high quality. He said the patty melt tasted great! And I noticed how crispy and big the fries are. Absolutely recommend this place! read more

I don't understand how I've lived down the street from this place for two years and have never been here before. The diner is so old school in the best way. It felt like I was back in the south with those sweet, attentive waitresses and oh-so-good cookin'. Let me tell you I haven't had breakfast sausage like this in a hot minute and the BISCUITS. I was craving the ones my Gabu (grandma) from Mississippi would make the family every morning, and I think I just found my fix. We got our food in under 10 minutes and I ate my food so fast I forgot to take pictures. Definitely come here. read more

Stumbled upon this place while looking for somewhere else. Glad we did! The restaurant was pretty empty for a mid week lunch. I ordered the croissant club sandwich and it was delightful. The croissant was full of air and perfectly buttery. There was a stack of meet in the sandwich and the French fries were crispy, seasoned and delicious. The service was just ok. With such a huge space it was hard to wave anyone down for a box or to get our check. The prices were pretty high but will likely come back because the quality of the food was on point. See ya next time Joe! read more

Food and service was good.. I would recommend this to anyone looking for casual dinning.

Stopped and was quickly greeted and the server took our drink order. We ordered the vegetable omelet and I had an egg white omelet with back and ham. Also had the pancake and wheat toast. Food was excellent and served hot. Our server was attentive but not overbearing. Old style restaurant with a lot of charm. read more

Last time I was here- it was a Chinese buffet. Well let me tell you, what a phenomenal experience we had here. The service was tops, thank you Amanda! The corned beef hash and eggs- supreme! First time here. From the outside this place fits right into the neighborhood. Doesn't stand out from any of the other buildings around... but don't let that stop you from trying this joint out. I read through the reviews and there were enough five star reviews for me to make the pit stop and fuel myself up. The inside of the restaurant reminds me of some place out of a Quinton Tarantino movie. I'm not into fancy or overly decorated interiors... so far, I'm feeling like I've just walked into a very welcoming place. The room is huge. There was a sign that read to seat myself, so I grabbed an open booth by the front window. The waitress, Paula Z, greeted me and took my drink order. When she returned with the coffee and water, she took my order. I went to the restroom for a quick bio-break and to wash up. The restroom was immaculate. Talk about clean. On this cold day, it was nice and warm in there too. Sat back down, and got myself situated with my coffee, phone, and shortly after the food came out. I ordered a bowl of oatmeal, which comes with a side of brown sugar and raisins...but I had them hold the raisins. Those things just don't jive with me. Anywho...I digress. I also ordered a banana and side of crushed pecans. The bowl of oatmeal was plentiful! The bowl was about 10" and the oatmeal was loaded to the top. It was moist (we're still allowed to say this, right?), and very delicious. It's oatmeal...it's hard to mess this up... but some people do. I did my thing with the sides, and also added a little of the creamer that was brought out for the coffee...which by the way came in one of those little metal creamer mini pitchers....that's diner material right there. The food was delicious! The coffee was good! And the glass of water was cold and refreshing. Bobby Boucher Jr. would've called this "high quality H2o". The bill came, I paid, wrote this review...and now I'm outta here! Next time I'm in this part of town and hungry, I'll remember this spot. Give it a try. You might like it..you might not. We're all different and like different things. read more

I had a great morning today at Joe's. i had never been before and really enjoyed my breakfast. It is an old school diner atmosphere. For food I stuck with the Avocado toast with eggs. It is different here, the guac has a more sour taste. They use hot sauce in it so my guess is that is why it tasted different. It has an extra vinegar taste to it. I was not sure I really loved it enough to get it again. However, that just gives me an excuse to come back and try something else from the menu. My meal came with tomatoes and an orange slice. it was the perfect sized breakfast for me. Good coffee and they have old school diet RC. I will definitely be back. read more
