I had never heard of Joes Cafe until some girls after class started talking about it... and my little yelp-self just had to go immediately. Like right after class I went there immediately. I was also starving. Once getting there I realized soon that Joe literately worked at Joes Cafe and it seemed like a family restaurant which I thought was adorable. Joe was very loud in persona and funny while you were ordering. First I ordered the grits (cause everyone in line said to do this), the silver dollar pancakes (ditto on being highly recommended), and the chili cheese omelette The grits: its like a sweeter and creamier oatmeal but the oats have been more finely chopped. Id say if you like oatmeal get this. Silver dollar pancakes: (my favorite) theyre mini pancakes and if you drizzle honey on them. Pure perfection. Chili cheese omelette: (i didnt like it) there was so many things wrong with this omelette and im sorry I feel this way. First of all they top the omelletes with kraft cheese...I hate kraft cheese. Secondly the chili was just poured on top of the egg rather than combined in the omelette and it also tasted like it came from a can. Im willing to bet it came from a can. *important note the Denver omelette came with kraft cheese topped on it too so ask when ordering what kinda cheese youre getting* read more

And yes, you actually get to meet Joe who is the most welcoming, friendliest, most hilarious owner of this delicious cafe. They serve great portions for a fair price. And it's made upon ordering and served while still HOT! You get to take a picture and he adds it to his IG and treats you like if you're going over to a families house for Food. Not only are there pictures plastered on every square inch of his wall of all of his customers for the year, but Joe is a fellow Houstonian who loves his hometown! Larger than life and hilarious he serves up some amazing food! Thick cut bacon bounteous omelettes loaded full of fresh vegetables and high-quality meat!! I got the Denver omelette and I couldn't even eat half of it! You got to try his amazing grits! Mind blowinglinly good and it reminds me of home! The thick cut bacon is lightly seasoned to perfection! He's famous also for his biscuits and gravy and they were wonderful and filling! Ephriam had the chili cheese omelette and loved it! I have been wanting to come here for months! Met Joe at the register and he personally took our order. Asked Joe what he recommended and he said everything! Joe is so warm, kind, and makes you feel like he's your Uncle and calls you "Boo". So sweet! Tried their French toast combo, while my colleague tried the biscuits and gravy. French toast combo was def a large portion and I was only able to eat half. So were the biscuits and gravy! It was very tasty, very filling, very southern. Then - omg, then my colleague let me taste a spoonful of the grits she ordered. My mind was BLOWN AWAY of how good (and addicting!) those grits were! I mean, SOOO GOOD, that it didn't leave my mind for two days until I came back two days later just for the GRITS. I took my mini me with me and she ordered the silver dollar pancakes off the kids menu and she liked it pretty well. First, let me ask, "How is this place not a more common breakfast stop for all my friends in the area?" This place was BUMPING on a Saturday morning and for good reason. When you first walk into Joe's, you can't help but notice the thousands of photos of joe himself with so many happy customers. Since this was our first time eating here, seeing all these photos definitely validated the fact that this was a good place to be eating. I ordered the french toast plate with eggs and Texas sausage (which tasted a little but like a Slim Jim) and my husband ordered the Denver Omelette. In his words, the omelette was "the best omelette I've ever eaten!" The eggs were not dry, it was bursting with flavor and the size was unbeatable. My French toast was cooked perfectly -- a little crispy but still soft. Not soggy and the bread was thick and delicious. I was also very happy with the portion size! The one reason I wouldn't give this place 5 starts was for this reason: Although the environment was very unique, it was very crowded. This would not be a bad thing if their ordering system was a bit more efficient. There was a huge line to order in the small space and instead of paying when you place your order, you have to go back up again to the crowded front part of the restaurant and pay after you eat. With that said, the service was top-notch, the food delicious (and hearty- we left feeling STUFFED) and the environment a fun step away from any other breakfast location in the Provo/Orem area. read more

This is southern comfort breakfast and lunch. There is butter and magic in the food. The bread and English muffins are the same you could buy at the supermarket. The grits (which is delicious) is Quaker brand- you can see the containers of it behind the counter. We had literally just finished boxing up our leftovers and we were winding up our conversation and getting ready to leave.
