I Yelped for a coffeeshop and JJ coffee (or J&J or James & Joan) popped up as the number one choice and it was literally on the other side of the parking lot of our hotel. However, during the early September heat, we opted to drive there instead. This is a college town so you see college kids everywhere. And, the perk is they have one of the best coffee shops for you to check out. This place is very trendy and cute and offer some of the best coffees, matchas, and chai out there! From cortado to lattes to matcha (their coconut ube matcha was so delish), everything was so satisfying. I also had the avocado toast and the turkey panini (which was okay, very strong pesto). The winner for me here was the coffee and the matcha, whether regular or the coconut ube, 50% sweet, was so good. Even much better than other matcha places back in Socal. Highly recommended!

I clarified that I was not seeking reimbursement for the tip, only the agreed-upon refund for my purchase. Her tone felt irritated and dismissive throughout the interaction. Fortunately, I still had my receipt with me and was able to verify the correct amount. Mistakes happen, and I appreciate that the store acknowledged the possibility of an error. What disappointed me most was how the refund was handled. I left feeling that my concerns were met with skepticism rather than understanding. Additionally, on a completely separate side note, while I was there, I noticed a customer had a dog inside the café. When I first visited with my friend, we had her dog with us and we were told dogs were only welcome on the patio because they had an open kitchen. So it was unexpected to see this dog inside and drinking from a reusable customer water cup provided by Peace on Earth. The inconsistency in enforcing store policies was surprising.
