Wanted some bakery item for a later snack. We arrived later in the day, Baking item were scarce. We still was able to get some bakery item. Vanilla Square, double chocolate cookie, Red Velvet Cookie. They do have sandwiches sausage rolls, whole pies and bread loaves. -Small, with limited seating inside. -nice parking outside -friendly staff at the counter If you want a better selection of bakery item show up in the morning.

After reading about Canmore, we decided to stop by and walk around while on our way from Calgary to Banff. What a delightful downtown area. We were getting a little peckish at midday so we decided to stop in and get a quiche and lemonade drink. If we hadn't already had a filling breakfast, we would have probably ordered more to eat. The staff were very friendly and we took our food and drink outside since the weather was nice. We would definitely stop by again.

The menu is great for a soup and sandwich here. They have gluten / lactose free options; and from my experience, is delicious. The sandwich I had today, had by far, the best gluten free bread I have had to date; so good in fact, I had to buy myself a loaf to go.

A great bakery but a disappointing café. Atmosphere: 3/5 - Quaint & vintage. Well lit. Seat spacing is good. Tables, chairs falling apart/paint peeling. Price: $$$/5 - Average pricing for a bakery. Customer Service: 3/5 - Servers were polite but inattentive. Service speed was on the slower side of average. Location: 4/5 - Great little spot in Canmore. Taste: 3/5 - Coffee was nothing special; bread was amazing; sandwiches were below average. Menu: 4/5 - Menu is average size but lacks unique items. Should be able to please a fussy eater. Gluten free friendly. Sustainability: 3/5 - Locally sourced ingredients. No advertised sustainable initiatives. Strengths - Great location. Weaknesses - Not the best customer service. Good items to buy: Cinnamon bun, Macchiato, Build-your-own sandwich. Summary: 3.3/5 - Overall, JK Bakery is a decent spot in Canmore and I would recommend stopping by if you are looking for a quick bite before a hike. They have decent tasting meals but where they really excel is their bread made from locally sourced ingredients. Their menu is average size and should please a fussy kid. The one area I think they could improve in is customer service. Thank you for taking the time to read my review and I hope it helps you!!

The Tourtiere was very interesting. It was my first time eating it. It had a nice flavor without being too salty. I really enjoyed it.

The melt stood out to us due to the coconutty flavor but I would order both again! There were plenty of seats available and service was quick. Breakfast/Lunch Stop Worth the Detour…read more I'm a pretty picky eater. Not because I want to be, but because I have to be. I try to eat vegetarian in the morning, and I'm allergic to wheat, which makes dining out a little more complicated than it should be. My boyfriend found this little café outside Banff, and honestly, it turned out to be one of the better food surprises of the trip. We both ordered the Pad Thai -- one loaded with extra protein, one without. I had low expectations. I've eaten enough Thai food to know that about 7 or 8 out of 10 places overcook the noodles. They become soft, mushy, and fall apart the moment you touch them. Not here. The noodles were cooked perfectly -- still chewy with a nice bite. The peanut sauce was another pleasant surprise. It wasn't overly sweet or heavy like many North American versions. The balance was just right. The spice level was mild, which I appreciated because the dish actually tasted like Pad Thai instead of being buried under a mountain of chili. The vegetables were generous, fresh, and plentiful. My boyfriend's chicken portion wasn't huge, but there was plenty of tofu, which made sense since the dish is originally designed as a vegetarian option. The chef seemed to add the chicken as an extra rather than making it the star of the plate. The portion looked manageable when it arrived. It was not. I couldn't finish mine, and my boyfriend had to rescue the remaining noodles. Pad Thai: 4/5 The Vegan Berry Scone was light, not greasy, and not overly sweet. The strawberries and blueberries added little bursts of tartness, and there was a nice oat flavor throughout. My only complaint? It might have been too healthy. A tiny bit more sweetness could have taken it from "good" to "wow." Vegan Berry Scone: 3/5 The Vegan Chocolate Cake was exactly what a chocolate lover would want. Rich dark chocolate flavor without being sugary or overwhelming. It was a little dense and heavy, but in a comforting way that made me keep reaching for another bite. If the cake itself were slightly more moist, it would be nearly perfect. That said, making something both vegan and gluten-free that tastes this good deserves credit. Vegan Chocolate Cake: 4/5 What really impressed me was the overall value. Since the café is outside the main Banff tourist zone, prices are much more reasonable, parking is easy, and they offer a surprisingly large selection of gluten-free and vegan options. For someone like me, who usually spends half the meal interrogating the menu, that alone is worth celebrating. Final Rating: 4/5 Good food, fair prices, easy parking, and plenty of options for people with dietary restrictions. I'd absolutely come back. In fact, if I'm passing through again, I probably won't bother looking for another place.

He and the excellent Chicago hot wings make Fergus & Bix worth more than one late night Happy Hour visit. The wings are marinaded, fried, dipped then baked - perfect. Ambiance is warm and relaxed. Happy Hour offers some nice choices, and is twice per day every day as is the norm in this tourist town. Definitely recommended for folks who want a pleasant adult atmosphere. You also avoid excessively intoxicated and rowdy revellers. They're over at the corner of Rose & Crown and Drake.

Casual spot where we could sit anywhere. The tables are all raised, so a little awkward, but manageable. Our server was prompt with bringing us menus and water. My brother was also curious about one of the beers, so she brought us a sample. There are half pints available, so perfect for a driver who doesn't want drink too much. My steak came out perfectly medium rare and the mashed was so buttery! Would definitely recommend for anyone who likes good food, drinks, and friendly service.
