Multigrain Kaiser

Stopped by this bakery shop before picking up coffee from next door. Absolutely loved the two pieces of bread I got. First, the pretzel is amazing! It is soft and chewy, and not overly salty! I often stay away from pretzel because it can be too salty, but this one is not! Plus, it is not oily either! It got a great cracker-like flavor, the alkaline taste is very subtle. The other thing that I got is the multigrain Kaiser rolls. Very affordable and tasty. I love plain wheat bread, so this is definitely my favorite. It has a nutty flavor and soft texture; a great combination with some black coffee. There are other selections in store, both sweet and savory ones. They also make fresh and warm sandwiches, and coffee. So it is a great place to stop by for breakfast or brunch. The store is cozy and simple. Service is just alright, but I still recommend on trying their menu.

Wanted some bakery item for a later snack. We arrived later in the day, Baking item were scarce. We still was able to get some bakery item. Vanilla Square, double chocolate cookie, Red Velvet Cookie. They do have sandwiches sausage rolls, whole pies and bread loaves. -Small, with limited seating inside. -nice parking outside -friendly staff at the counter If you want a better selection of bakery item show up in the morning.

Ham and cheese quiche

After reading about Canmore, we decided to stop by and walk around while on our way from Calgary to Banff. What a delightful downtown area. We were getting a little peckish at midday so we decided to stop in and get a quiche and lemonade drink. If we hadn't already had a filling breakfast, we would have probably ordered more to eat. The staff were very friendly and we took our food and drink outside since the weather was nice. We would definitely stop by again.

Hummus and veggie sandwich on gluten free bread, with gluten / Lactose free curry chicken soup.

The menu is great for a soup and sandwich here. They have gluten / lactose free options; and from my experience, is delicious. The sandwich I had today, had by far, the best gluten free bread I have had to date; so good in fact, I had to buy myself a loaf to go.

A great bakery but a disappointing café. Atmosphere: 3/5 - Quaint & vintage. Well lit. Seat spacing is good. Tables, chairs falling apart/paint peeling. Price: $$$/5 - Average pricing for a bakery. Customer Service: 3/5 - Servers were polite but inattentive. Service speed was on the slower side of average. Location: 4/5 - Great little spot in Canmore. Taste: 3/5 - Coffee was nothing special; bread was amazing; sandwiches were below average. Menu: 4/5 - Menu is average size but lacks unique items. Should be able to please a fussy eater. Gluten free friendly. Sustainability: 3/5 - Locally sourced ingredients. No advertised sustainable initiatives. Strengths - Great location. Weaknesses - Not the best customer service. Good items to buy: Cinnamon bun, Macchiato, Build-your-own sandwich. Summary: 3.3/5 - Overall, JK Bakery is a decent spot in Canmore and I would recommend stopping by if you are looking for a quick bite before a hike. They have decent tasting meals but where they really excel is their bread made from locally sourced ingredients. Their menu is average size and should please a fussy kid. The one area I think they could improve in is customer service. Thank you for taking the time to read my review and I hope it helps you!!

Tourtiere (small)

The Tourtiere was very interesting. It was my first time eating it. It had a nice flavor without being too salty. I really enjoyed it.

This was a great stop from our drive from Calgary airport to Banff. Seems it's what a lot of people…read moredid too! This is an order at the counter, get a table marker (which is a fun super hero figurine), and they bring over the food. I ate my whole breakfast and had gotten a coffee which they had 3 choices of coffee to choose from (dark roast, decaf, light roast). Fun place and friendly staff!

It's always hard to find a good breakfast place that has good, fresh food and also good coffee. The…read morehash browns here are clearly made fresh (not frozen and reheated) and I would definitely recommend getting them "loaded" with chipotle mayo, green onion, tomato and jalapeno. The Huevos Rancheros is delicious, I got it 3 days in a row! They made it with a base of black beans and hash browns on a tortilla and then once the eggs and cheese are on it they broil it to toast the cheese and edges of the tortilla. The eggs were always a perfect over-easy and the chipotle mayo from the "loaded" has browns goes well with the dish. The staff is all super friendly and recognized me as a return customer by my second day there. They have toys they hand out to kids when families come in and the place seems very family friendly. In addition to the inside seating, there's a great patio that has a wonderful view from it. If you're here during the summer, I would definitely recommend sitting outside and enjoying the view and great food!
