Exterior by the 20 minute limit parking, Sunday 29 October 2023.

After years hearing good things about this Jimmy John's location on Northgate Way in the Northgate neighborhood of Seattle (my home neighborhood in my American hometown), I finally decided I would make it the Jimmy John's location for my first ever time having Jimmy John's. Driving past about half an hour before opening on Sunday 29 October 2023, I quickly checked out the parking situation. There was a small stretch with a few parking spots for retail parking with a 20 minute maximum abutting the side of the restaurant. Beyond these spots was a larger garage for retail parking. Returning about opening time, 11:00 a.m., I opted for the parking garage and was able to find an open compact spot on the top floor (ground level). Walking to the restaurant entrance, I noticed a sign on the door communicating the location was short staffed and thus there might be long waits. However, I was one of the first customers in for the day and the wait was not too long. The worker took about 4 orders, then filled them all in one go. He was a clear and straightforward communicator and in good spirits. I went with the 8 inch (regular) Vito (Number 5) on French bread. My choice was largely inspired by a video by USA Swimming on YouTube that featured Drew Kibler sharing his commitment to Jimmy John's as part of his training regime. As a runner, I was hopeful for a mix of tastiness and good-for-the-body ingredients. Eating on-site in one of the booths, I was happy both with the sandwich and the amount of natural sunlight serving as lighting. The ingredients were fresh and flavorful. The meats (capocollo and salami) were salty, the cheese (provolone) creamy/soft, and the seasonings (basil, oregano), oil, and vinegar helped the vegetables (tomato, onion, lettuce) shine without taking away from their flavor. In terms of the food being a good fuel for training, I had good workouts later the same day as well as the following afternoon (today, Monday 30 October 2023), including achieving an all-time second best time for myself in my current training set this afternoon. So in that sense, the food was good training fuel (I find food choices can impact my performance up to 48 to 72 hours later, typically). Reflecting on my experience yesterday and today, I was pondering some of the signs posted in the restaurant, such as the shirt and shoes required by state code. If Drew Kibler wanted to come in and dine wearing the attire he competed in at the 2020 Summer Olympic Games, would that then mean he would need to don additional clothing in addition to what he wore in competition... Left me with food for thought in terms of transferability of athlete competition attire to real life scenarios.

Wtf do you expect? To be treated like a noble? You are going to jimmy John's ain't no way you are reviewing a dining experience. You grab your sandwich and be glad you got a meal for $10. Also anyone that eats their sandwich like the picture here, is kind of a psychopath. The ppl that work here get that bread and get me bread too. Ain't no way I'm planting a hair for yelp clout.

There you can see a piece of hair that does not belong to me in my food while eating I pulled out.

The customer service. Wasn't welcomed in upon arrival and the lack of communication. It was my first time there and wanted to try something new. I was excited but disappointed in the customer service didn't seem to care about the service they provided for their company. They should be grateful for jobs right now in the economy I got laid off mine and I know a lot of people are struggling out there right now. And food experience in sub par. I found a piece of hair in my food. You can see the picture below. I would say go take your money somewhere else.

I love this location, i feel like it's really been on the come up again after a hard winter. It also helps that this most recent promo has been my fave!

Definitely not freaky fast. Currently still waiting for 2 sandwiches and it has been 30 minutes. We shall see if we ever get the sandwiches.

They only had four people working during lunch. It took 25 minutes waiting for a single sandwich.

Otherwise, they just ignore you - even when there's a staff of over 5 people "working". I thought they would call out the completed orders/names, but they usually don't, so I've ended up with a melting ice cream cup before which I had to send back. It would be easier if they had a designated worker and area to check in for pick ups. The dining area is a decent size at this location. I'm glad they have different receptacles for recycling, compost, and trash, since a lot of fast food places only have one bin to throw away everything.

I've been annoyed how difficult it is to access Chick-fil-A's in Seattle, so I was happy to be there. Despite the random location, this shop was really nice. The interior is clean and maintained very well. I was surprised that they put real flowers in a little vase for all the dining tables - a nice touch! Staff were friendly and attentive too. It was also first time for me to see a Chick-fil-A hosting bingo nights. I'm curious what kind of crowd they get here. Since I was there in the morning, I could only choose from the breakfast menu (lunch menu becomes available at 10:30 am), but it did not disappoint! I had the biscuit sandwich and it went very well with the Chick-fil-A sauce. And it was under $6. The only thing that I found off-putting was that the building is fenced almost all the way that I have to walk a long way to enter. It makes sense because the shop is located in a very car-centric area, and it was not pedestrian friendly at all. I guess one other good thing is that even though you have to walk extra around the block, the bus stop is right next to the store. I wish they leave the part of the fence facing the bus stop open so that you can go right from the bus stop to the shop.

Aurora Ave is well-known for its plethora of Mexican food trucks (at least to me, what did YOU…read morethink it was known for?) El Camión stacks up with the best of 'em. Which is good, because you can't feasibly name your food truck "The Truck" if your food is trash. We were famished, so my dog and I were on a late night hunt for an Absolute Unit-Rito. Something that would take an army to demolish. After a disappointing realization that one of my favorite spots was closed for the night, little did I know that the stars were aligning for a real Guac-Ness Monster that was headed my way. I think that one of the truly special things about El Camión is that it's in the Home Depot parking lot. What's better than taking in the aura of home improvement before smashing some tacos? Let's get to the food here. I knew I was getting a burrito, but what type? It turns out that El Camión is serving up cochinita pibil, which is a rarity in Seattle, so I had to give it a try. They will also LOAD up your burrito with vegetables for $2. And I'm not talking about some skimpy little vegetables. We had some thick slices of peppers, onions, and even squash. This made me feel a liiiiiiittle better about the long term health effects of my burrito obsession. This may have been one of the heftiest lads I've ever encountered on my lifelong apprenticeship of burrito studies. If I could give you one piece of advice here, do NOT operate heavy machinery while eating this. It's meant to be enjoyed while sitting down. But what the meal lacks in structural integrity, it makes up for in flavor. As a sauce-boi, I applaud El Camión for their variety of salsas. This is completely necessary on a burrito of this size to cut through all of the fat. Major props to The Truck. Stop here after you get your new light fixtures for a good time.

Anyways, again, it's been YEARS, but gollllllly that first bite was so nostalgic. It's crazy how such common things have such unique tastes e.g. the way we can all differentiate a whopper from a Big Mac from a jumbo jack etc etc. but yeah. The whopper itself was solid! Good amount of veggies + sauce. The patty itself tasted nice and fresh. The fries were pretty mid and they definitely weren't fresh lol. Overall, I mean I can't hate!
