Jim & Nick's nacho with pulled pork

Have not been in a while so the have redone this place now. No longer a sit down and take an order from a waitress/ waiter. You walk in and order from a kiosk with a cashier, once food is ordered and paid, you get your own drinks and pick a seat to sit. Your given a number for your order and the bring your food to you. At least they still give you corn muffins free gratis when eating within the place. But trust me the also have them listed on the menu to charge as well. The nachos with pulled pork was ok. Pork was a little tough and chewy. Flavor was ok. Not a lot of smoke flavor for my tastes. Cheese was more like a cheese sauce but a fair amount. I tried the Carolina Mustard type sauce. Which I have always known as Carolina Gold. Nice tangy but sweet flavor. Just need a little bit to go a long way. For the prices this place now is, sad to see them go away from the sit down and be waited on type format. Be a hard long time before I go back to a quick and easy food place like this. Miss the old way!!!

Stopped in for dinner and light crowd. Cashier was nice and plenty of seats. Food came out quickly. Drinks took a bit - we had a beer and peach mixed cocktail. When they came out they brought out a regular peach tea and said they would bring the cocktail and prompt about getting us our drink. Very nice guy. Side salad was great and cheese biscuits always great. Brisket, Jalapeno Sausage and pulled pork was well made, flavorful and good sized portion. Baked beans were good and coleslaw is a bit spicy. Loved that they have a fruit side for the kiddos but our little guy wasn't a fan of the cheese in the grilled cheese. Otherwise he was a fan of the place not the cheese. We had one weird interaction. When the biscuits came out we asked for an extra small plate (so we can put our little guys biscuit on his own plate). Normal request for a restaurant, however we got a speech about how they don't do that. They only give 1 small plate for our group size. ‍ She was a bit off putting and said she would get us one, which we didn't get from her. When we asked for extra napkins much later they came on a small plate. That whole situation was weird?! Not enough plates?? Otherwise good BBQ and quick place to grab a bite locally.

We thought we'd give this a try even though the reviews looked mid. I have to say it was really good. The corn biscuits and sweet creamy butter were finger lickin' good! My turkey was moist and well seasoned without needing sauce. I had a side of collards and coleslaw which were yummy. Hubby had brisket that was super moist and juicy as well with Mac and cheese and baked beans. Beans were very flavorful and better than most places.

We had a delightful lunch at this location. It's literally been years since we have been here. We used to go all the time and i think my wife just got tired of it. Anyway, we needed a quick lunch and it was nearby so we stopped in. They have completely changed things since our last visit. They used to have wait staff taking orders at the table. Now you order at a counter on entry and then find a seat. This was actually a whole lot quicker. By the time we got our drinks from the self service bar, our food was on the table. They have enough roving staff to take care of any additional need quickly and efficiently. The food was tasty and large portioned. Pretty impressed.

We sat at the bar and our server was Lee. Lee did a great job. Super friendly and very attentive to any of our requests. The smoker meat platter was perfect and healthy as well. Definitely will be going back to Jim and nicks. Thanks again Lee for the great service.

This review is for food we ordered through delivery on UberEats. We ordered the Mr Jim combo plate, which includes 3 meats (pork, chicken, or tucket, two sides, and biscuits. You can pay about $3 extra if you want brisket and spare ribs. For my meats, we got their ribs, chicken, and pulled pork. The ribs were my favorite. They were cooked perfectly and came with two types of sauce (a spicy and sweet one). The pulled work was okay. The chicken was really moist and delicious. We ordered some onion rings on the side which I probably could have done without. They were good but I just had so much food. I would recommend them if you are craving onion rings. The cheddar biscuits and mac and cheese we got that came with my meal were also good. The mac and cheese were yummy and the biscuits were moist. It was a nice alternative to corn bread. We also got a coconut pie and banana pudding for dessert. Both were great but we really liked the coconut pie. I know a lot of people enjoy their banana pudding but we prefer the coconut pie. All of our food was about $70 which we thought was fair for the amount of meat and food we got. The next time we are Franklin and want some BBQ we would consider ordering from them again.

Visited this place while on a quick trip. Man!!!!!!!! Was I surprised?!?! I wanted some smoked wings. Boy, did I get some smoked wings. They were excellent! We enjoyed fresh onion rings and potato salad which tasted like my grandma made it. I thoroughly enjoyed this meal. We were also able to eat outside. We enjoyed this place . Service was okay. The hostess/cashier couldn't answer our questions but overall that didn't take away from the food.

Every time I come here, my order is typically the same: catfish, collard greens and macaroni. The service is always exceptional at the bar. The restaurant is always nice and clean. Jim N Nicks has some of the best catfish around.

It's a counter service joint; you walk up, order, and then someone runs the food to your table. First off, they asked for a point of service tip; that bugs me when I'm ordering my own food at the counter and fetching my own drinks. The menu is fairly standard for a southern BBA joint; brisket, pulled pork, ribs, turkey, chicken. I am generally suspicious of any place that offers chopped brisket. Brisket is meant to be sliced and enjoyed as a slab of meat, not as a pile of hash. So, the chopped brisket sandwich was out for me. I asked if the brisket platter would be served as slices, and they assured me it was, so I ordered brisket with two sides. They recommended the beans and the Mac 'n cheese, so that's what I went with. They also asked me if I wanted the meat lean, marbled, or half and half; I took that as a good sign, and asked for marbled. They food came out in about 5 mins; just enough time for me to head to the soda fountain and fill my own cup. Maybe they should tip me? On the plus side, the portions were pretty large. I'm guessing that the served at least 6-8 ounces of brisket, and the individual sides were pretty large as well. On the other hand, whoever sliced the brisket simply didn't know what they were doing. They sliced it WITH the grain, producing slices full of stringy meat. Stringy meat that was hard to cut with the plastic cutlery provided. I find it hard to believe that anyone who regularly serves BBQ brisket doesn't know to cut the meat against the grain. The meat appeared to feature a nice bark; however, on further exploration, a) the bark was so tough that it couldn't be cut as all with the plastic cutlery, and b) when I tore into it with my fingers and ate a piece, it had no taste. Not even a basic Texas salt and pepper rub could be detected. A large portion of tasteless, poorly cut meat does no one any favors. The beans were a little underdone; IMHO, that's far better than mushy, overcooked beans. However, they, too, had no flavor. No spice, nada. The mac and cheese was shells in a white cheese sauce. Strike 3; zero flavor for the sauce. I don't know how you can make cheese sauce without flavor, but they managed to do so. I have never, ever thrown as much food away at a a BBQ joint than I did today. What a shame. Not recommended, not even a little bit. Try Martin's or Edley's; if you prefer a chain, Mission BBQ will do you much better than Hogwood.

Hogwood occupies one end of the plaza that also holds Sperry's, Smoothie King and few other local businesses. Given its location in the corner, they have a nice patio that is fairly shaded by the surrounding trees. If outside isn't your thing, or the season isn't right, they have a nice sized, open inside dining room too. The set up is counter service and table delivery, with self serve drink and sauce stations. The space is well laid out and features an open kitchen/prep area where all the goods are and the fun happens with chopping meats, prep, etc... Their menu is fairly standard for a BBQ spot, but the quality is far from standard. I was not expecting much more than a decently tasty lunch, but what I got was tender and juicy chicken, equally juicy and cheese stuffed sausage that has an impressive snap, a lightly dressed, crisp and refreshing slaw and an Alabama white sauce that may be my favorite I have ever had! Price point is a tad high, but honestly after the meal, I get it. I paid around $20 for the two meat sampler with a side and water to drink. Service was stellar here as well. From entry to food delivery to exit, everyone I encountered was helpful, friendly and seemed genuinely happy. Overall, big fan of Hogwood BBQ at this point!

Our group decided to sit in the common area so everyone could grab food from different restaurants. After ordering, I told them where I'd be sitting, and they gave me a table number so they could bring the food right out. Easy and convenient! I ordered the Tri-Star platter, which came with pulled pork, brisket, and pulled chicken. All three meats were tender and flavorful. Don't be shy with the BBQ sauce, it really takes everything to the next level. The platter comes with two sides. I chose one vegetable, baked beans, and one fruit, banana pudding. For those not from the South, macaroni and cheese is considered a vegetable, and banana pudding is absolutely a fruit. That's just science around here! The meal also included cornbread and slaw, making for a hearty plate of food. Everything was very good, portions were generous, and the service was excellent. I found myself over at Bellevue for dinner, 2 hours before my hockey game. I wanted quality food…read morebut not super carb heavy but also not something that could potentially wreck my stomach. After all, can you imagine having digestive problems while playing hockey? I love barbecue so I thought I'd try this place. I walked in and it wasn't at all busy at 5:32. However when I finished my order, the line was out the door. I asked the cashier what was good and the manager (maybe owner) walked over and I asked him. I wanted ribs or brisket, but needed a 2nd opinion. He said he would choose brisket because theirs is USDA Prime and he would put it against any other barbecue restaurant in Tennessee. Those are some bold words. So I ordered the brisket platter (fatty portion) with green beans and cinnamon baked apples. What I received was 3 good sized portions (1/2 pound) of fatty brisket. The meat was tender, melt in your mouth without an overbearing amount of fat clumped together. The bark was salty and very peppery. It was actually good enough to eat without a sauce. Speaking of, there was only one sauce on the table, so I used that. It was a sweet sauce, definitely honey-based but not overly sweet like other honey-based sauces I've had in the past. The thing is I love everything honey-related, so I would definitely buy this to take home. It was so good, I was scavenging for brisket fibers on my plate. So I praised the brisket but I think the shocker was the green beans. These were hands down, the best green beans I've ever had...ever. Salty, tender, peppery, with chunks of meat and fat, sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. Who would have thought that a side could be that good? Last but not least, the Cinnamon Baked Apples. I love baked/fried apples. Something about the tart and sweetness brings me back every time. The apples were soft, but not mushy. I would have liked them to be a little more tender and more slices of apples. I think there was more sauce than apples but nevertheless, they were great. Overall I'm glad I visited Honeyfire for the first time. I'm here often (near Bellevue) so I'll definitely be coming back again and again.

If you're looking for a great place to get away from the city and enjoy some amazing live music,…read morethis spot in Liepers Fork is absolutely worth the trip! We've been here several times, and the one thing that never changes is how incredible the music is. Every visit has had a great lineup and a fun, energetic atmosphere that makes it easy to forget you're just a short drive from Franklin. Make sure you get a reservation! This place sells out almost every night, and for good reason. If you don't plan ahead, you might miss out. Once we were seated, I started with a Margarita, not bad at all, but honestly, this place is really about the music, not the drinks or food. For an appetizer, I went with a couple orders of Pork Rinds. If you know me, you know I always look for hidden menu gems, so I asked for some pimento cheese on the side, and trust me, this is a must! I've been asking them to officially put it on the menu for years. Maybe one day! The pork rinds come out sizzling hot, and with that pimento cheese, they're absolutely next level. For my entrée, I had the Saturday Special: Beef Brisket, Baked Beans, and Mashed Potatoes. It was solid comfort food and hit the spot. Others at the table went with the Famous Big Bologna Sandwich, which is honestly a memory in itself, definitely one of those signature items you have to try at least once. But let me be clear: you are here for the music, not the food! And the music alone makes the whole experience worth it every time. Tip: Get there well before the show starts so you have time to eat and settle in before the music begins. Once the band starts, you won't want to miss a second of it. Great food, great atmosphere, and even better music, this place is a true hidden gem just outside the city.

It's a solid, casual meat-and-three that's become a gathering place for both locals and visitors. The friendly staff and frequent live music create a lively atmosphere, and if you're already coming to Leipers Fork for a show, it's a great place to grab a meal beforehand. The menu offers classic Southern comfort food with rotating daily specials. The pulled pork is one of the more consistent meats, although I've had it arrive perfectly tender on some visits and a bit dry on others. The second meat changes throughout the week, which keeps things interesting for repeat customers. I've worked my way through all of the sides, and the fried okra is easily my favorite. It's consistently served hot and crispy, though I think a signature seasoning blend would make it even better. The macaroni and cheese is another standout, although I've occasionally received it lukewarm. The sweet potato fries are also enjoyable but could use a little more crispness, and I think they'd really shine with a house-made dipping sauce like a hot honey mustard. The green beans appear to be canned, which doesn't personally bother me, but they leave an unusual aftertaste that keeps me from ordering them often. The collard greens have good flavor but tend to include more stems than I'd prefer. The baked beans lean savory rather than sweet, which may appeal to some diners, though I usually prefer sweeter baked beans with barbecue. The mashed potatoes are simple and would benefit from the option of either cream gravy or brown gravy. One item that always kept me coming back was the chicken fingers. For a long time, they were some of my favorites in the area--crispy, flavorful, and good enough that I've driven out from Nashville just to order them. Recently, however, the breading seems to have changed, and they haven't quite been the same. The onion rings are another reliable choice, arriving consistently crispy, though I think they'd be even better paired with a signature dipping sauce or seasoning. Overall, I think the atmosphere is what makes Fox & Lock special. The staff is consistently welcoming, the live music is excellent, and it's an important part of the Leipers Fork community. If you're visiting the area for the music or exploring the town, it's absolutely worth stopping in for a meal. While I don't think the food alone is worth making a special trip from Nashville, it's enjoyable comfort food in a fun setting and a place I'm sure I'll continue to visit.
