Visiting Jester King is an all-around great experience. I had visited once before (pre-COVID) and I enjoyed it then. They have made a few changes since then and I actually enjoyed the experience even more when I visited last weekend. First, I love how they have different areas to choose from when you make a reservation (and I do recommend making a reservation, particularly if you are going on the weekend). Since it was a date night with my husband, we chose the Canopy since it looked intimate from the pictures. It definitely was. It is a bit of a walk from where you get food and drink, but we preferred that - we felt like we had a spot all to ourselves. There are only about three picnic tables total where we were sitting and they were spaced pretty far apart. We could still hear the live music, which was nice, and the goat parade came by while we were dining too, so we didn't feel like we were missing out on anything. When it came to ordering food and drink, you place your order via your phone, so you don't have to waste time standing in line to place an order. The whole process was very smooth. Now for the food and drinks. I'm not much of a beer drinker, so I can't comment much on that, though I had the Super Ultramega Hyperforce Ale (so many superlatives!) and I did like that. I can talk about the food though, which I really enjoyed. We started with the Green Salad, because we were pretending to be healthy before we stuffed our faces with pizza. It was a good choice. In particular I really liked the tomato basil vinaigrette that came on it. We tried three different pizzas and the Benno was hands-down our favorite, we were actually fighting over who got the last piece. The Benno has béchamel, roasted mushrooms, and caramelized onions. The Luca was also quite good. It has mozzarella, pepperonis, and pickled jalapeño peppers, which gives it just the right amount of kick. For dessert we had the Strawberry Babka Bread Pudding. It was odd, in a good way - it had tres leche custard on the bottom with babka on top. It was an interesting mix of textures and we couldn't stop eating it. My husband and I had such a lovely, relaxing evening; the setting is so idyllic. We are already planning our next visit, this time with the whole family (two kids + grandma) because we think they would love it too. Next time we'll probably get a table in the Goat Barn area. Awesome brewery with a huge amount of land to enjoy, relax, and play! Great for people with kids, dogs, or want to go have some pizza and beer with friends or family (aka just about everyone)! Ambiance/Service: This place is pretty much self-serve, but the staff is super friendly and will let you try what you need to be happy, even though they are most often times extremely busy. The place is awesome. They have multiple buildings to grab drinks and pizza (different business but amazing pizza!) as well as a ton of space to throw a football or frisbee, play corn hole, whatever you desire for yard games that you want to bring). Food/Drinks: I am not a huge sour fan, so unfortunately this place when it comes to the actual drinks is not my favorite brewery by any means, but i have had some and they are actually quite good, but they do also have a place there where you can order other types of beer (IPA being my favorite), which is great for people not necessarily into sours. They also have a pizza place (different business) on the property that is super good and worth getting when you are there! Definitely recommend checking this place out even if you aren't into sour beers! Do note that the line for the pizza as well as the beer can be quite long, so if you are able to divide and conquer on both lines, that is the way to go. read more

The wait was very very very long. We were in line for exactly 73 minutes. Then once we ordered - the food took 20 minutes. It's one pizza oven so it takes a while. The pretzel was not very good. Like at all. The pizza was alright. I liked mine but my friends didn't. The bathroom was alright - like an upscaled port-a potty. There is a family restroom that is part of the main building - but I didn't see it. They staff was nice and the sand pit area was cool for kids. Lastly, the beer was good. I wouldn't take visitors there again at 5pm on a Saturday because of the wait but it was nice to go somewhere to get beer with an area for kids. read more

4 stars for food and drinks. 1 star for organization of service. Loaded fries, pepperoni pizza, Pilsner and Wytchmaker Rye were all good. Jester King Brewery could use a tour from a fresh set of eyes when it comes to the layout and service experience when ordering food and drinks. Upon arrival, guests are asked to check in at the desk. One must bypass the massive line of people already in line for beer. Once you navigate past the huge line of people to the check-in stand, your arm is stamped with a black goat (the ink rubs off on everything). There is not any obvious reasons for this. Perhaps, if one appears younger than 21, an ID check occurs? This moment in time is where it should be really obvious to Jester King management that some better signage and organization is in order. We were told about the Beer Garden not opening until 1:30 pm, that beer and wine can be ordered at the shed we passed to get to the check-in stand. We can use the app to order pizza and SOME beverages for pick up at the barn and we must stand in line to order food from the food truck. If you open a tab at the shed, it does not allow you to then access/add to the same tab on their app thus you'll have two tabs open. But you must open a tab on the app if you want to order pizza or some beers for pickup (thus avoiding the very long line at the shed). When it was time to close tabs we had to stand in line at the shed to close that tab and then close the other on the app. When ordering food at the food truck you are given a buzzer that is supposed to vibrate when your order is ready. Ours didn't work so I'm glad they ALSO sent a text that our food was ready. How many systems are we going to use here? My husband was on an android and his phone had difficulty accessing the QR code. We had better success with my iPhone. Perhaps open wifi would be in order to support this heavy tech system. When picking up drinks and pizza from the barn there are two signs. One for picking up drinks only and one for picking up food and drinks. It is only when you've stood in the appropriate line for a few minutes you realize that they are really only operating one line and if you stood in the longer line thinking that is where you need to be for drinks only, you've just wasted a huge amount of time. Cover up or take down the signs if you aren't going to use them. There are many areas of opportunity at Jester King Brewery. I hope they figure it out as they do have good food and drinks - It just isn't worth the trip when it's exhausting to navigate their system. read more

Wow! What an incredible place!? From beer to food to entertainment and communal gathering. Jester King has it all. Not knowing a ton about them I was convinced we were lost as we drove towards the address, but then a small sign reassured us that we were on the right path. Parking is in a series of dirt lots and it's a short couple hundred foot hike to the good stuff. This working ranch houses the brewery, Stanley's Farmhouse Pizza and a wonderful communal area to enjoy your food and drink. Plenty of families and interesting folks to share the day with. The brewery tour was great, I've seen hundreds of breweries but this one stuck out. Our tour guide and brewer, Allison was knowledgeable and very well spoken. Obviously passionate about their craft. Lastly, beers were amazing. Not only do they make incredible beers but they also serve amazing beers that others are producing. Plan to spend some time here, it's wonderful! read more

I give them a 5 for foood and drink! And goats. There are lots of adorable goats roaming the land. The beer is sweet and all natural. I was amazed when going about the tour of the farm, the owner said they interact very little in the natural process of brewing! This, I believe, is super awesome for the great taste of all the beer I sampled! I would definitely come back again and again to this rustic little getaway in dripping springs. Jester king is the absolute best brewery in the Austin area. It might be a bit of a drive for you after work, but I promise you it is worth it. You can't go wrong with anything you order here, but they specialize in sour beers. One of my favorite places to bring a few games and camp out with some beers for the afternoon. Very good pizza and outdoor space! The wait was a little long on Saturday at the brewery and kitchen but there was definitely enough seating. There were families and a lot of dogs enjoying live music and a warm January day. It is off the beaten path and about 30 minutes drive from Austin, so a designated driver is needed. My beer was disappointing though - I would not recommend the peach apricot beer, it was the most sour beer I have ever tasted and feel I might have had a bad batch. Overall, nice experience and I would return but get a different drink. read more

Post COVID-19 review: I have always been a fan of Jester King, so I was excited to hear they were reopening with so much thought placed on how to do so safely. We booked a reservation for a picnic table on The Vineyard plot for 6 of us/3 couples. Two of us work in healthcare so we are extra cautious when socializing. -You must make a reservation and bring a mask! -All on-site orders are contactless pick-up so we felt safe with the minimal interaction with staff. You can order both food and drinks at JersterKing.menu then pick-up at a booth. -They've added several plots of expanded seating so our plot was almost empty except for our group. -For the best experience try to book the original beer gardens if they're not full when you reserve. The Vineyard had quite a bit of ants and it was a walk to get to it but some of the other lots may be in better shape. -Bring your own water! We were so used to water stations around pre-COVID19 and completely missed this. They have water available for order but it's in a can, $2 a pop. -We were allowed to bring our own lawn chairs to better social distance. Along with the picnic table the 6 of us were able to spread out safely! -It's Texas in the summer so the heat is a little much but all of the plots had available shade and by the time the sun set it was very pleasant. Overall would rec for a good socially distance activity but please be as safe as possible! read more

Definitely a must for farmhouse/saison fans if you're in Austin area. The brewery itself is off the main road and is in the farmhouse. You can try all 9+3 tasters to get the idea of their expertise. There's also an outside station that offers 3 more beers that are not on tap at the farmhouse. You can sit on the bench and enjoy the scenery, but for today it's raining cats and dogs! As for beer, I personally recommend Mad Meg, Fair Voyage, Buddha's Brew and Das Wunderkind!!! If you like your beer dank, this is the place! Jester King, oh Jester King, how do I love thee. This brewery is one of my favorite breweries in the United States and I am so fortunate it is here in my home state. They are one of three breweries that truly does Lambic style beers in the US and they truly go above and beyond what it means to be brewers. They have a large acre farm where they grow their ingredients so everything is completely in their control which is one reason I think their beers are so incredible. They have such a beautiful farm and area to serve their beers and they have multiple spots on the property to grab your beer depending on what you like. We were here before they even opened and there was quite a line of fellow beer lovers also waiting for them to open at noon. They have multiple brewery tours throughout the day as well which are complimentary for those who want to join. They also have a really extensive list of other breweries beer on tap and have a KILLER bottle selection of rare beers or bottles throughout the land. Just coming to see what they have in stock is worth the drive. This is a must and worth the drive if you are in the area when they are open! read more

Jester King is such a fun brewery. I went with a group of friends to do the goat experience and had the best time. When it comes to the goats, everyone was very knowledgeable and the goats absolutely love people, it's awesome. Also, you can bring a drink into the goat experience so win win for sure. I only went for a short time but would definitely go back to make a day of it. I tried a few of the different beers and was impressed by all of them. My only complaint is that it's about a 30 minute drive, so if you're coming from downtown ATX be prepared for that on the Uber/driving front! read more

This is the very best brewery I have ever visited, and all the beers are absolutely fantastic. I don't even know where to begin! The venue is of course totally charming. There is a beautiful ruggedness about the Hill Country that cannot be overstated. The makers at JK celebrate that ruggedness, and infuse their craft with everything that central Texas has to offer, from its water to its vegetation, from its air to its people. There is a true soul in what they do, and their brewing art represents that soul perfectly. If you can, take the brewery tour. Understanding what the folks at JK are all about adds a true depth to each of their numerous beer. I litterally felt humbled by every sip I took, understanding the artistry that brought their products together. Lots of beer, lots of space, and lots of tables to enjoy your pizza. Jester King is located on a huge lot of land, and as a result, they have three different bars where you can try either their current beers or some guest rotations. Not a beer expert, but they seem specialize mostly in sours. Those used to beer classifications/naming such as IPA, American Ale, stout, porter, etc may be a little thrown off here, but just walk up to any bar and ask for recommendations. I personally prefer darker beers and am not a big fan of very hoppy beers, not a lot of their beers were super hoppy. Tried the Figlet - ale refermented with Texas figs roasted at Franklin BBQ back in Austin - and was pleasantly surprised. Also got to try some of their gin barrel-aged beer and other refermented with grapes or honey, but I have to say the Figlet was a good start and definitely my favorite. I'm honestly not sure if I'd frequent Jester King for the beers simply because it's not something that I'm used to drinking. That being said, they do have good beers and I would love an opportunity to come back and try some more. They also have a small kitchen serving pizzas and small sides, great for enjoying with your beer while you're enjoying the courtyard or under the roof. On a Friday evening, the pizza took some time, but they had a good system going. Pizza was delicious - had the Jardín, Calabrese, and Turino. I would recommend Jester King to anyone looking to get a just a few steps outside of Austin to chill and relax. Come and try some unique beers, learn about the process, and just enjoy the Hill Country. They even have some lawn games for the kiddies. And plenty of water bowls to keep the pooch hydrated. We pulled in on a cloudy Sunday just after a little rain shower. Even though most of the seating is outside, it was still full of families and friends enjoying a weekend outing. They had a brewery tour starting just when we were arriving but opted out. Be prepared to show your ID in order to get your beer. We decided to do a sampling which entailed ordering as many or as few of the smallest size, 4oz, I think. Really unique concept for a brewery. It's basically winery themed, but with beer. You do have to drive out from Austin half an hour or so, as Jester King is located basically on an open ranch. They typically have 4-5 bars open throughout the area, each with their own set of beers and wines to choose from (wines are not made on site). They also have a food bar where you can order pizza, garlic knots, etc to go with your drinks. The staff were all really friendly and made some great recommendations based on our unique tastes. And if you want souvenirs to go, you can purchase bottled cans or some other swag to take home. You also get the chance to meet and play with several of the furry local residents (kitties)! The ambience is pretty romantic around sunset/dusk. The brewery is right next to a bunch of open land so I can totally see people getting married here and then having a reception in the open building next to the grass. read more

Food and drink are ordered on your phone and picked up after receiving a text. I appreciated the variety of socially distanced seating options which included shaded picnic tables. Restrooms were also clean. Tried the pizza, pulled pork sandwich, pretzel, and cornbread which were all pretty tasty. Jester King is set on a ranch right outside Austin and is certainly worth the drive. Picnic tables are set up outside with live music and three bars to order from. The bars outside were limited selection. All beers come in two sizes, one for sampling (4 oz). There is a pizza place for people to eat although we were not hungry. We enjoyed the tour and it really gave insight as to how the brewery works and why people love it so much. They brew there beers on sight with little to no machinery. Most beers are influenced by the land and the natural resources around the ranch. I am not a beer enthusiast but enjoyed the beers that were available. Large selection and most were interested in the final offering of a the Colour 5, a blueberry sour beer. Definitely a whole day excursion. read more

I've been ro Jester King several times over the years, but mostly fo a beer or two. This was the first visit that involved their pizza too. Absent the 95 degree heat, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. First, they are serious about COVID-19 safety. You have to get reservations, which are staggered so you're not arriving with a crowd of people. They limit admissions so that you're easily distanced from other small groups. Ordering is via a QR code on the table, but you have to go pick up your beer, which is ready immediately and they text you, and your pizza, which understandably takes a little while. Depending on where you settle on their capacious grounds, that might entail a hike. But our crew had no objections, as we found a spot where our friends' toddler could stumble around and explore. Their beers are always intriguing. They somewhat focus on sour beers, though they do have some taps from other area breweries. I tried the Wunderkind, and found it to be a good choice for a hot summer day. Good citrus lightness. I also had the Cornbread Kvass, which I found to be excellent. Lots of undertones running through that brew. Jesters pizza is superlative. I had the Sud with jalapeños and Italian sausage added. Crust was perfect to my way of thinking. The braised pork was delicious. Green tomatoes and cabbage added flavor and texture. My spouses build your own she really enjoyed. All things considered, we will be back. Had so much fun at Jester King! They had a ton of room to roam around and it's a great place to go with a group of friends! While none of us have kids, it is very kid friendly too! Best of all, they had goats!! We ended up eating lunch there and had a wonderful wood fired pizza, salad, and cornbread and it was all delicious! The beer was good, but not my favorite. I love saisons and ordered one, but wasn't a huge fan. Only downside was that it started to rain when we first got there and they did not have accommodations for us. They had some indoor seating, which was booked for other reservations and a few umbrellas, but not nearly enough. We had to book the reservation weeks in advance so we couldn't exactly just leave and come back another day. Luckily it slowed down after awhile! All in all, I had a really great time. I can honestly say I've never been to a brewery like this before. When we walked up It was pretty standard but as we made our way up the hill we saw the goats. Tons of goats. The Brewery's gimmick I suppose but it worked. They had two baby goats in the pack and that's all it took to keep a stead crowd of observers coming up yo the fence. The goats are used to people too, they're cool with you petting them and they have a guard dog who basically acts as the sheriff in the pen. Bizarre but oddly entertaining read more

This is a great place to spend a Saturday afternoon. Order a pizza, grab a picnic table and some beer and listen to some live music. The line to the indoor bar tends to be long but the outdoor not so much. It's a little bit different menu between the two but the outdoor has a great selection. Their drinks and very unique and pretty portent, so get prepared! They have a food truck and a kitchen to serve you food, it smelt incredible but we didn't get any during our visit.
