First time here the other day. Very spacious outdoor areas to eat and drink, and hang out with friends! Easy to order on your phone, keep a tab open, and track your orders. Good selection of drinks (beer, wine, etc), and at a reasonable price. As for food, i tried a pizza and the pretzel.. both were absolutely worth it! World famous (seriously, people in the beermunity KNOW) and known for their farmhouse, wild, and sour style brews (they're canning IPAs now too), Jester King in one of my very favorite Austin area joints to visit. Located on a sprawling and pretty piece of property in the Texas Hill Country, there's lots of outdoor seating. The staff is also amazing...and did I mention pizza yet? It's SO good! They change the complete menu seasonal, based on fresh and sustainable ingredients. DURING COVID-19, JK has been a Godsend for my husband and I! We've really enjoy making the pretty drive out to pickup food and brew contact free curbside. In addition, they also have a small pop-up market where I've been able to staple items like fresh veg, flour, etc. They have opened "picnic" dining and drinks by reservations only and curbside is available daily from noon - 8pm (simply order online); pizzas ONLY available Wednesday thru Sunday. Covid 12/2020 review. Love the vibe. So many places to sit whether it's near the pick up area or further out by the goat barn, or trees past the hop yard. Wish there was live music when we went Saturday afternoon. Lots of sour beers. My fave was the blackberry beer, but my man preferred the ale. Sour beer isn't for everyone! We got the figlet, the prince (ale) and Nocturne Serenade (blackberry). The olives had fennel and rosemary they were good and they gave an abundant amount it was just drenched in oil. Ribs were good, but I think the pizzas here are what you should go for. The marshmallows are also made in house do try the s'mores! They burn faster bc it's less processed = delicious. Also had the bean salad and it was a good healthy side, no complaints. Bathroom needs a bit more help... some stalls don't close....not super clean, but overall decent for such a large place! Plenty of parking and yes, people bring their dogs! Make reservations if you can... we did but saw some people try to walk in that were turned away. They are trying to keep a lower head count due to Covid. I'd definitely come back here or bring friends. Cons: bugs, heat (depends on season), can get pretty dark, not a whole lot to do so bring a football or frisbee. This was my first visit and not only was it packed due to an event, two bars were closed so there was one line to order food and drinks. It's mid October so the high was 95 degrees but thankful for the 85 evening temps with a slight breeze. I'm not from Texas so these picnic style outdoor eating environments are only my vibe in winter and spring when the weather is cooler and there are less bugs but there is a ridiculous amount of parking, picnic table outdoor seating, a wooden playground and a trail that runs through it. I thought there would be more of a view but I imagine people go for the beer. I had the blueberry wine which was very tart and Meade-like. I loved it but I wouldn't call it dry and it certainly wasn't sweet (if that's your thing). The pizza was really good.Capri was my fave and the pesto added a nice salinity. I love a wood-fired pizza. We're not local to Austin, but this is a must visit every time we are here. When then weather is nice, there are few breweries globally that can top an afternoon at JK. The sour (spontaneously fermented) beers are on par with the best in the world, like Cantillon. The rest of the beer lineup is solid, the food is fantastic, and the ability to walk amongst the acres of farm in the hill country makes this a great place to visit. Just spent the afternoon drinking Atrial Rubicite watching goats play while the sun began to set - it was sublime. In previous visits we've done the tour, which is really informative as well. The peaceful surroundings are such a perfect counterpoint to the speed and growth of Austin, it's a beautiful respite a half an hour away. read more

We were recommended this place by a friend and were not disappointed. Jester King is about 20 to 30 mins outside of Austin (depending on traffic) in the scenic TX hill country. When you arrive, you will be amazed at how big the place is! The brewery is basically on a ranch with a large outdoor space that has a playground, walking trails, and goat pen. We ordered beer and pizza and loved both. There was also musicians which was a nice touch. Staff were friendly and the overall vibe of the place was great. Nestled in the hill country, this used to be a hidden gem, which is no more hidden. This has become a popular destination and now turning out quite touristy. From the point one enters through the dusty gravel road, it reminds me of the country side living. There is a goat barn, a huge community seating area both enclosed and open. During my visit, I had to park in the overflow parking lot as the regular spaces were filled. The onsite brewery offers good blend of both hoppy and lighter beer options. The best part is the online ordering experience. Scan the QR code, order the drinks or meal, pay, wait for the message once the order is ready, go and pickup. It was a beautiful day and we needed a little time away from the house so we used my favorite Yelp to find a brewery to enjoy. Jester King was at the top of the list and had everything we were looking for: beer, food, live music and GOATS. The beer was amazing and loved the pizza. Loved goat happy hour. It was the best. We booked our farm tour and our goat happy hour reservations on their site. The farm tour was free. The goat happy hour was $10. It was so worth it. Those baby goats were precious. Some of them had too much energy for being three weeks old and some were tired enough to fall asleep in your arms Brewery: beer sold in bottles at the non bar location (which is faster than the bar or brewery). Averaging about $13, but they are big enough to share. They also have draft at the bar, restaurant and brewery. They have mostly sour beers, but they do have a few other options to include wine. Restaurant: the menu has pizza and some appetizers. We shared the sweet potato baba ganoush- yum!! Great tasting and easily shared by four. The bruschetta was also good topped with the best cream. The pizzas are thin crust and delicious. They are a pretty good size and can be shared with one other person unless you have a big appetite. Both the pizzas we tried were tasty and had a good amount of toppings. The Hannibal is perfect for the meat lover. The grounds: beautiful and large. You can walk around and see their farm animals without being on the tour. Parking is available on site and plentiful. Bathrooms can be found all over the grounds. They are clean. Be aware that it can get busy and you may have to wait in lines for everything. The food line did improve the later in the day it got. We waited about 35 min for our pizza, but our appetizers came out in about 10min. Relax and enjoy. read more

We came because of recommendations. We wanted pizza and beer so what better place to hang out? Let me start by saying that this place is huge. It has ample parking, a walking trail, a huge field, a bar for drinks and a large seating area with a stage and fans w/misters. We tried their beers and enjoyed them with the exception of the raspberry beer. Unfortunately, we were told this is what placed them on the map. They also have wood fired pizza, which does take a long time on busy nights - so order right when you arrive! We also got a chocolate chick cook & the Texas Twinkie (jalapeño wrapped in sausage and bacon) to snack on and they were INCREDIBLE! The blueberry beer and mushroom beers were my favorite from our 3/18 visit. The beers change often so get excited to try something new at jester king! I had heard so much about this place I was excited to go try it out. The location is far out and for drinking And then driving so I highly recommend a DD. And planning a few hours because it gets busy and there's lots to see! They have food and beer, but I wasn't super impressed with either but would still be willing to give it another shot. Had been meaning to come here for ages and was really happy to see they were able to stay open despite the rollback or openings. In terms of keeping people safe covid wise, they mostly did a good job: reservation only, their space is HUGE so very easy to keep distance between groups, order via your phone. One of the times we came to pick up our order we had a tough time hearing what the bartender had to say so he pulled his mask down to make it easier to hear, but we're all getting used to this weird new world and i think they're mostly doing well with this. Their space is fantastic, certainly worth a day trip to get out of the city, plenty of room to toss a frisbee around and explore their vast farm like space. Beer wise I was really excited to try their offerings since they have such a great reputation. I was surprised they only had one sour beer on tap (13$ for 12oz as well..) given that's what they're known for. I tried their oak aged ale, which I thought was very tasty and different than any other beer I've tried before, and their hazy ipa which was quite a bit hoppier than you'd expect from a hazy, but was still super refreshing on a hot July night The one area I'd have to dock them on is the food, usually I'm not too hard on breweries for their food options since it's not their thing, but since they're so isolated and don't allow outside food I think it's fair to be a little more critical. I had the Vick and thought the garlicky white slice taste was pretty good, but $17 for what amounts to slightly more than a personal pie is pretty steep. My friends tried some of their more traditional pizza options and were pretty unimpressed for about the same price. Outside of the pizza they don't really have any other substantial food options, so if you do come here for a visit I'd recommend making plans to eat nearby before/after! read more

So I visited JKB literally like 10 years ago and got one of the tours and it was fine, but JKB is WAY BETTER now. We went to do the Goat Experience which was freaking amazing. Lots of sweet mama and baby goats to snuggle and take selfies with. Then afterward we stayed for some delicious (albeit spendy) pizza. I did the build your own and did it through the website and paid like that. They text you when it's ready and you pick it up at the counter. I ate the whole dang thing. I also got the Cider. I don't remember what it was called but I asked the bartender dude which "non beer" option was more on the sweet side and he recommended that and it was perfect! I wish I was a beer fan because I would frequent JKB more; however, I will for sure be back for more goat time!! read more

Whether or not you enjoy that lovely funk most sought after in a barrel-aged, yeast fermented sour, there is still something to be had here for everyone. You are sure to encounter sours on their beer list, but they do have other varietals, even a "table beer" for those not so fond of the strong taste of beer. A list dedicated entirely to guest taps are sure to offer you even more variety. Everyone knows JK for Atrial and SPON, but they are sure to have other farmhouse ales, usually those fermented in their own cultured yeast. The setting is also very "farmy" as JK really is a farmhouse with a large pasture. Most seating is in the outdoors and overlooks this lovely pasture. You have the option of strolling around the property and even wandering up to the main brewery for free tours offered at various times throughout the day. There are two bars which serve most of the same thing, but certain beers are only at one location. They do culture their own yeast, so while I was grabbing left and right for beers at each bar, I did eye the *Today's Sourdough* on their menu over at their kitchen. I did eventually give into temptation and ordered this hearth-baked sourdough quarter with apple butter and herb infused olive oil on the side. There's something so comforting about fresh bread especially the yeasty kind as is often the case with sourdough. It was quite moist, but fluffy and yeasty as it should be. JK is the more well-known brewery in the Austin area, but it is still 40 minutes outside the main city center. Honestly, there's not much good beer to be had in Austin, but somehow JK still makes it a worthy beer destination. And so much more if they have a bottle release of Atrial. In our case, we took a chance by coming during New Years hoping they would have something, but they did not. Either way, a worthwhile visit it was and golden hour out on the benches and overlooking the pasture was quite memorable. read more

This has been on my list to visit for a long time and I'm glad I finally made it! It was just a quick trip since I was in the area but they have an extensive and cool grounds! There was an outdoor ply place for kids, it's dog friendly, they had a QR code to scan for their pizzas, mock tails and a small beer selection. Their more extensive beer, wine, cider selection was at the main bar. Plenty of parking, plenty of covered seating (with heaters!) and plenty of space to roam around. Pros: Delicious farm fresh food. Lots of options for people with dietary needs. Sand "put", climbing toy, and lots of open space for kids to play. Lots of seating. Delicious cold Reverse Osmosis water. Cons: my single extra pizza order for my kids didn't get sent to the kitchen, so we ended up waiting a LONG time waiting for a text before going to talk to the kitchen. They didn't know why it wasn't sent through, but then expedited it. Unique to this visit, won't keep me from going back. We had perfect breezy 70 degree weather during our visit here. The kids could have stayed much longer just playing in the sand. It'd be awesome if there could be a little fenced in area for dogs to unleash and play with each other, but our pup was still happy to be there leashed and watching. The food was fantastic. A short drive from Austin ~ 25min outside of town. It was a cold day , so not so crowded , but great selection of draft beer and amazing wood fired pizza selections. There was a mixture of families , singles, and couples that enjoyed a heated outdoor rustic venue. We'd highly recommend here and a visit to Treaty Oak for a fun outing. This brewery is awesome just because of its size alone. Although it is kind of far from the city, it was a very nice place to visit. This brewery had some pretty good beers but the star to show was scenery. They even had a goat farm that you could pay to visit the petting zoo. It was far different from the California breweries that I'm used to. They had a large playground for the kids and a good sized cornhole field. If I were to visit Austin again this place would be on the top of my list. Although I didn't get any food they did have a food truck on site for those that were hungry. read more

This review is long overdue. We visited last year and had a great time with friends. At that time, they had a great assortment of beers and wines. Fast forward and due to COVID, selecting a good beverage can be tricky. I don't believe it's possible to taste test - weed out a few gems from the iffy and horrible lot. Our most recent visit was not good. While I do love the huge open space - which is great for our dog; that alone is not enough to make me a repeat customer. Ordering through the contactless system was super easy and food was ready within the allotted time. However, our first round of drinks were horrible. Hubby's beer tasted like perfume and my Fairweather Cider was just as bad - weird overall taste. That being said, hubby decided to order a second round and that is where this place dropped the ball. What's lacking is full transparency on the alcoholic drink menu. Descriptions and photos are misleading by only showcasing bottles when it fact you just spent $19 for a plastic cup of Rose. We actually spent around $45 on two plastic cups of wine as hubby went for a red priced at $25. Now onto the pizzas - yes they are delicious but is it worth the trip and beverage mayhem mystery? One of the best breweries around the Austin area. It's a 30-40 min drive from downtown Austin but well worth it. Pre-pandemic they had an amazing selection of beers and a great seating area. They have taken that up a notch by constructing 3-4 more buildings with outdoor seating areas. Our favorite is the Goat Barn .. you get to sit under the shade of the trees while the kids can enjoy watching and playing with the goats. They also have plans to build a vineyard and distillery in the area. Eh. Honestly the best part about this place is the farm itself. The barn cats, the goats and rabbits. The food is okay. Cornbread wasn't as flavorful as I thought it would be. The pizza was decent. Tomato soup was the best thing we had. The fancy butter didn't taste like anything. The beer was okay but not great. The wine I had was pretty whatever too. Mostly enjoyed the live music, the fire pit. It was cute when that loud jet engine noise wasn't going off in the background I think it was a generator? We visited here from Milwaukee and have visited probably somewhere around 40 breweries nationwide. This was probably the best brewery I have been to in terms of location. It's absolutely gorgeous. I tried several beers and they were good, but consistently on the sour side which is not my preference. I wish I had tried a few more to see what else they offered. We went here on Father's Day weekend and had a great time! We did the brewery tour, which wasn't too bad. I'm not a beer aficionado... my husband is and he seemed to enjoy the tour. For me, it was all about their outdoor seating, good food options and live music. It's the perfect place to have a nice relaxed afternoon... hanging out with family and friends. We tried their root beer, a couple of different beers brewed on site. I had the Pilzner and it was the perfect drink for a hot afternoon. They offer a pretty impressive menu of starters and entrees.
