Paid $100 and got the completely wrong cake! Wrong shape, color, name placement and bread!
    Jessi C.

WARNING! When you order a cake from here PLEASE look over your order form and make sure they have everything right! I ordered my baby's baptism cake from them last weekend and OMG! I got a completely different cake from what I placed. What I ordered: 2 tier square cake white all around with baby pink dots and bows with large bow on top tier. Marbled cake with strawberry and peach filling. My baby's name on side of bottom tier in baby pink What I got; 2 tier round cake with HOT PINK dots and bows and NO bow on top tier with basically all chocolate cake and one layer of vanilla. Oh and let's not forget the two thumb dents on each side of the cake when it was given to me. With name sitting in some plastic thing on top of the cake which you couldn't even read! When I informed the girl working that my order was all wrong, she called the owner and all he could do was offer an apology and ask if I still wanted the cake. Duh I do! It was the day of and I had no other option. All he could do was offer me $20 refund on a $100 cake! Ridiculous! So everyone pleas be careful when you place special orders from here and review your order form multiple times, I put my trust in them for my baby's special day and was completely screwed over

    Delicious cake, looking beautiful!

Once you're in its cozy and casual and they operate like a well-oiled machine. Friendly, fast, and furious. There are so many delicious pastries I wanted to try but didn't have enough time. We definitely had to take some home for later and I would do it again, but get even more! The black sesame and ube coconut cold brews were definitely a great way to start. These were perfectly sweetened drinks that hit the spot and satisfied our tummies while we waited for the main events. I would order both again without hesitation. Yum! Ube huckleberry Basque cake - if you're familiar with the Spanish almond tortes, it was very much like that. Crispy outside and dense cake-like inside. The huckleberry balanced out the sweetness of the ube jam. Very nice! Black truffle croissant, one of the best pastries I've had. Filled with Delice de Bourgogne cheese (my fave) and topped with shaved truffles and rock sugar. A very nice play between sweet and savory...but $16! For me, worth the splurge, 100%! Ube coconut ensaymada. I don't care for ensaymada but had to try this one. It's filled with an ube cream and the big difference is that this had a nice crispy crust, soft inside, and no sugary butter "frosting" (which I don't like in a traditional version). Definitely good but I don't have to have it again. Breakfast sandwich with cheddar cheese, soufflé egg, longaniza, and crispy hash brown between a soft sandwich bun. No sauces needed, the flavors stand out themselves. We need to make this at home, guys. One of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had. The hash brown adds some nice crisp to what would otherwise be a soft sandwich. If I did it at home I'd skip the hash brown and just crisp up the buns on a fry pan to save some calories, lol. Tocino and longaniza--Perfectly fried egg over garlic fried rice with tocino and longanisa, served with pickled green papaya and garnished with cilantro, mint, and green onion. Leveled up for sure with a higher cut of pork for the tocino, but the longanisa didn't impress at all. It was not packed with the full flavor of a good sweet, tart and spicy longanisa that I know. It was more tame and westernized which I think didn't do justice to Filipino cuisine. Albeit, I will say that I didn't have that longaniza after effect that longaniza eaters know too well-- you know what I mean! Ok, last but not least -- chicken adobo. Had to have this and so glad I did. This was my favorite dish and I'm going to bring some of what I've learned back to the home kitchen. This is sliced chicken thigh. It looks like it was marinated and then grilled, topped with a nicely balanced adobo sauce and smothered with chicken skin palapa (scallion, ginger, toasted coconut), and a side of pickled green papaya. D-freakn-licious! This was definitely leveled up adobo!!! I regretted not having reservations for their fine dining experience during my short Chicago stay.

This is a fast casual spot so service was pretty fast. There is a decent amount of seating, most of which was surprisingly taken around 11am on a Thursday. For starters, they no longer have their rainbow cake! I was surprised to hear that considering how popular it's supposed to be. We got both banana lattes which were extremely sweet. It's basically dessert with a hint or caffeine. I'm a big fan of banana, so I actually liked this but I would've preferred half the sweetness. The Turkey Bacon & Egg Croissant was so good! A solid breakfast sandwich - the eggs were cooked perfectly, the turkey bacon was insanely crispy, and that sambal aioli was just what this needed. I highly recommend adding Avocado like I did for some freshness & creaminess since it's a heavy sandwich as is. The Cinnamon Roll was soft, moist, and not overly sweet. Overall, I really enjoyed this breakfast!
