OK, my review update is long overdue. I owe these guys an apology, as my old review was mainly an ignorant critique of their burger prowess, and not with what they are truly spectacular. Since in the past year, I've severely reduced my meat intake and upped all things plant-based, I've sought out alternatives, Middle Eastern cuisine being one of them. I can honestly say that the Jerusalem Falafel here is the stuff of dreams, and that everything else from their chicken soup to baba ghanoush is simply outstanding. JK has won the prominent 'go-to' status for lunch when I am working from home. These guys seem to be there every day of the week, and always with a 'hello, my friend' when I walk in the door. Came here randomly and the people here were super friendly! It was me and my cousins first time here and they gave us free hummus with the platter because of it! They have the best falafel shawarma in a 10 miles radius. Really good and tasty. Chicken and salmon shawarma are also very good.

Solid Israeli-style food in the East Bay is not easy to find. This place makes a very good falafel, which is praise I do not give lightly! (I preferred the platter to the sandwich, which came in a burrito-style tortilla). The hummus is good, tahini and hot sauce the classic kind you get back home (Jerusalem), and the baba ghanoush isn't overly smoky like many are. I wouldn't cross the bridge for it, but when in the neighborhood it's a good bet! read more

We had passed this place many times and were curious. The photos and menus on the windows looked promising. This past Friday night, I wanted a burger and my partner wanted Middle Eastern. Perfect, let's order online at Jerusalem Kitchen. When my partner went to pick up our order, none of the staff were wearing masks (this is in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic). When we got the order home, we realized they'd forgotten to include the salad I ordered - we did get charged for it, and my partner heard them mention it when they were packing our order, but it wasn't in there. One strike. The bun on my hamburger was a little burned (how?), but otherwise mediocre. The side order of hummus had no flavor - no garlic, no lemon, no cumin, no flavor at all. My partner had a falafel sandwich - they asked if he wanted it spicy, and he said yes. First off, the wrap was burnt and very greasy. Unfortunately, the burnt flavor was the only flavor involved in the sandwich. No spice, no nothing. He took about two bites and put the rest in the compost. He said maybe three times in his life he's ordered a meal that turned out to be inedible. This was one. We won't be back. read more

I wanted a burger and while I knew I could get a great one at Barney's down the street, my wife and I thought we would try something new. I had the Jerusalem Burger (lamb/beef combo) and it was fine, but not nearly as satisfying as Barney's. My wife had the lamb shwarma--it was fine, but nothing to write home about. If you want a burger, I would just walk the few blocks west on Solano and go to Barney's. Sounds like we should have had the falafel. read more

Decor very tacky... Place needs to be cleaned. Sitting on the booth looking up you can see all of their toilet paper stock. Lady/owner not kind.. No greeting when we walked in or thank you after we paid. Maybe because I'm middle eastern... Once our food was served owner and cook went outside to smoke and ALL the Disgusting smell came in.. The food.. It wasn't the best and not the worst I got the kabob platter.. Chicken kabob dry dry and dry Lamb kabob was decent shish kabob was dry Israeli tabooli was really good Salad was waaay salty.. How do you make a salad salty. Nice local spot, great food, reasonable prices, wide variety of menu items to choose from. Easy and convenient location, plenty of street parking, friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend for groups and families with children. Limited inside seating but outside seating is available. Restroom is upstairs. Lower level is for dining and ordering food. You can see the kitchen and the cooks while you eat which is nice! And the smells from such a close view are great. read more

The first time that I tried this place I thought it was okay but something stuck in my craw that made me not want to go back....I think it was the fact that they served my boyfriends plate way before mine so he had to sit and wait for me to finish my food. I was willing to give it another shot and I have to say that I regret it. We went back there last night and here's what happened: we both had skewer plates, I have the beef he had the lamb. Like many others I was excited to have good quality beef from Niman Ranch, but they did the worse thing you can do.....they OVERCOOKED it, and the cous cous was mushy..... I was not impressed. We spent $28.00 for two plates of food and two soda's (and tip). If the food had been perfect that would have been fine, but as over cooked as it was.......I felt totally ripped off. I swear they pre-cooked the beef and then put it back on the skewer to warm it up and roast the vegi's, really bad technique. My advice is that you stay away. read more

I was happy to find Jerusalem's Organic Cafe on Solano Avenue. I've enjoyed the chicken shwarma sandwich on two occasions. They've got a good selection of items, and I've always left full and satisfied. The veggie burger looks basic and left my dinner companion wanting more as far as presentation and "accessories". My family and I had a pleasant dining experience here. The owners are friendly and efficient, and the food is really good. I'd say this is the best Mediterranean food I have tried since moving to the area six months ago. We loved the falafel, and the chicken salad was quite good. The chicken was perfectly seasoned. I was craving for a burger and came to Jerusalem's Cafe. I ended up not getting the burger and instead had the mediterranean plate. Hubby ordered the combination plate and a jerusalem burger with cheese, and Niece #2 had the Falafel plate. Their pita breads are very good and well seasoned, but less a star for charging us additional $2 for more pita, when not enough was given. Burger was okay and not great. I really liked the hummus and the olive. The falafel was not at all greasy and was quite tasty. My husband's kabobs were all very good. I think for mediterranean food, we'd return... for burgers... we'll search for equivalent of Burger Joint in the City. read more

Went here with Judy T. for lunch this afternoon. She got the "Hebrew dog," which turned out to basically be a regular hotdog on a plain-looking roll thing with chopped onion and some tomato. Boring. I got the "Jerusalem falafel sandwich," which turned out to actually be a wrap, with falafel, hummus, marinated eggplant and some kind of green, which was actually quite good. We also shared a raspberry ginger soda--hadn't ever seen that flavor on offer before. I might come back, but probably won't hurry back or anything. read more
