    Carrot and orange juice

Always great coming here when in Berkeley. The Spicy chicken burger is so delicious and the carrot and orange juice is amazing. They are always welcoming and nice place to chill and eat at.

Bongo Burger is a Berkeley city for both natives and especially for students. I come back for a cheeseburger when I'm craving the nostalgia of their crinkle fries and the quality beef with each bite of their perfect burgers. Coming here reminds me of my friend and mentor, Monica Hastings-Smith, who was a UC Berkeley alum and a great artist from The Bay. Their service is great, the food is perfect each time, and there are quick to complete orders. This is the original Bongo burger, and has been there for over 50 years- the location on the other side of campus was sold to different owners. So, if you've never had Bongo- give it a try. If you have had it; you know you miss it. The location is quaint and cute, and nearby other shops if you wanna stroll Telegraph. Highly recommended.

Ordered a quick Falafel burrito here. Service was quick and kind. Super chill vibe, you could study here or order to go. Nice quick lunch spot. Wish I had ordered more!

Best burger I ever tasted! Not a chain restaurant here @ Cal Berkeley. I'll for sure comeback here again and try other food in the menu.

Went to Bongo Burger located on Dwight (off Telegraph) for lunch in June 2025. Persian Burger combo (5/5) tasted so good; brought back memories of going here when I was in college. Also wanted to try something new so tried the Shish kebab plate (3.5/5). It was decent but not as memorable as the persian burger. A small no-frills dining spot where you order at the counter after reading the menu board and pick up your food when it's ready.

We were not really that hungry so we split the Persian Burger combo with fries and a small drink for something like $17.95. The Persian Burger remains consistent - a thin lamb patty that is spiced right and grilled up. It comes on a relatively thin sesame roll with lettuce and tomatoes and a bit of mayo (?). The burger/sandwich is the right mix of ingredients. The fries are surprisingly good - crispy but not overcooked. This place has somehow stayed the same all these years and I am happy for it.

Good burgers especially the lamb . The place was nice and clean with nice staff. The place has lots of room and you can get your your drinks yourself.

Persian burger with fries. The Bongo Burger staple!

My parents started taking me here as a kid in the '70s. It's been around that long. A true Berkeley institution. I remember when the location was third of the size. The other day I was in the area and visiting telegraph and decided to come here for lunch. Of course I had the Persian burger. I suggest ordering it with Swiss cheese. They do have good vegetarian options. I think I never ordered anything other than the Persian burger except a couple times over the Luleh Kabob on a pita sandwich, if they still have that. And I did come for breakfast once or twice a few years ago. But other than that I stick to my staple.

Delicious burger!!! Got hamburger with mushroom and grilled onions addd on. The fries also came nice and hot. Super super yummy! Worth a drive up to the north bay just for these burgers. The buns are also crunchy and the sesame on top is flavorful.

It came with a side of coleslaw (3.5 Stars) and spiced honey (3 Stars). They fried a whole breast, it was so large that it over flowed the toasted brioche bun. The only thinking that made it spicy was the homemade spicy mayo, so it wasn't that spicy. I noticed on the menu they have sauces, like Nashville and buffalo. I think next time I'll try one of those sauces to kick up the heat. The cheese I add was not needed, I should have left off. The Fries (4 stars) were coated with potato flour and seasoning, which made a great crispy crust, served hot. Mac N' Cheese (4 Stars $6.49) I ordered the small 8oz, it was corkscrew pasta covered with a cheese sauce that was awesome with some Cajun spices, a like dirt Mac and some extra cheese on top. The burger was fresh and flavorful--you can taste the quality in every bite. The onion rings were on point too: crispy, not greasy, perfectly cooked. Dipping them into the habanero mayo gave it just the right kick. Definitely recommend that combo. The staff was friendly and kept things cool even though there were only two or three people running the place. The spot itself is small, just a few tables and chairs, with a little bit of Latin music playing in the background, which gave it a nice touch. When I first got there, it wasn't too busy, but by the time I finished, it was filling up. Walked around the block to stretch out, came back 15 minutes later, and the place was packed. What's also impressive is that their fried chicken sandwich was voted one of Yelp's Top 50 Fried Chicken Sandwiches in California, ranking #33 in the state. That's what I'm definitely trying next time. Final verdict: Great burger, great onion rings, friendly service, and a spot worth checking out if you're around University Ave in Berkeley. Two thumbs up from me.

We shared a plate of the tossed green salad and crispy Brussels sprouts, in addition to two pizzas - Fun-Gi and the Spicy Tomato. The crispy Brussels sprouts stole the show - the deep-frying created a smoky flavor and melt-in-your-mouth texture that was equally loved by vegetarians and non-vegetarians in the group. The tossed salad was decent; the lettuce was heavily coated with oily dressing, which I think could have used more acidity. The Fun-Gi pizza was our favorite of the two pies - the hint of truffle oil and rosemary took this mushroom pizza to the next level. I also loved the light and airy crust, which had the perfect amount of crispiness. I wasn't as much of a fan of the Spicy Tomato pizza; while I really liked the unexpected sweetness from the tapenade, the cashew cream drizzle seemed out-of-place. The ambiance of the restaurant was whimsical and warm, providing the perfect backdrop for my friends to linger over our meal.
