DESTROYED THE MEAL

good portion to price ratio. we also got free cookies and it has a cute little loft area. theyre so sweet and sandwiches (and bfast burrito) are yum!!!! heres a pic of our DESTROYED MEALS

Richard's Dagwood Sandwich
Maggie C.

I have recently been on an adventure to try every sandwich place around Berkeley and Sandwich Zone has ranked up in my top 5! It's a small storefront but has an upstairs area with tables. I got the Richard Dagwood and the sandwich was packed! Bread was really soft and ingredients were fresh. The food is reasonably priced. I recommend bringing cash because there is an extra charge (3.99%) for using a credit card. The owners are the kindest people. I went near closing time with a group of friends on a Friday and the man brought out a tray of cookies for us :)

ROACH in my chai latte

ROACH in my chai latte- DO NOT COME HERE - I ordered a Chai Latte from the place, I've been coming for a few weeks now. The staff are kind and it's clearly locally and/or family owned. To my surprise, after a couple sips, I spit this out! I am appalled and disgusted because I've been coming here for a few weeks now! STAY AWAY! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

"Turkey" club sandwich with not enough meat to even call this a sandwich. This is a piece of bread.
Brent P.

First time today and I will not be going back. Look at how little turkey is on this turkey sandwich. 1 cold cut that doesn't even cover the bread. I can't believe they had the gall to charge me $12 for this sandwich! It's offensive. Do not waste your time or money at this place.

Roast Beef on Dutch Crunch. Only $5.49. Mind.... Blown....
Johnny T.

Little hole in the wall when big delicious sammiches for dirt cheap! I paid only $5.49 for a roast beef on Dutch Crunch that looks and taste like something you get at Ike's for $15. If you're on a budget and want a solid sandwich, the Sandwich Zone is it. Happy Grubbin'!

Chicken Pesto Sandwich - finger for scale
Serena J.

Was feeling a hot chicken pesto sandwich, and this one was good enough. The sourdough was pleasant, the chicken was chicken, and the sauce was yummy. There's a nice upstairs seating area. It's affordable. Not much to say. It seems like the cold avocado ish sandwiches here are more popular. Maybe I'll check them out later. My mocha was pretty terrible - very watery. That's what I deserve for getting cheap coffee at a sandwich shop though, so don't let this deter you.

The Smoked Salmon Bagel
Marquissa C.

This is a $9 bagel.. when I tell you these people are on crack, smh beyond dissatisfied and disappointing. My first and last time eating here. I tried to support a local small business that's down the street from my job and this is what I get. Save your money and go to Pete's there's wasn't enough night salmon to cover the bagel. A complete scam.

If you don't get the tuna melt or the pesto chicken with a side of their pasta salad, you're doing life wrong. Also, treat yourself to one of the cannolis - you won't regret it. For your ambience, sit outside. It's seriously so cute and lovely back there and you'll be surprised how little of the busy street you hear. It's seriously like stepping into someone's backyard for some of the best food you've ever had.

I've been here twice, so I'm surprised I haven't posted a review yet. The food is really good!…read more Parking in the area can be tough, but I've lucked out with finding a spot across the street both times, though I did have to drive around a bit on my first visit. I like that they have a patio area, but it's been full each time I've been, so I haven't had a chance to sit outside. The staff is kind, though they tend to be a bit slow when taking orders at the front. I guess it's nice that they don't rush things, but it can be a bit frustrating when the line is long and they're chatting with each person ordering, which feels like forever. However, once you sit down, the food is delivered quickly. During my first visit, I ordered the Lobster Roll with fries, a donut to-go, and we shared an order of Fried Mozzarella Sticks. The donut was very mild; I've had way better vegan donuts, so I wouldn't get one again. I thought the lobster roll was good, but not great. It did not remind me of a lobster roll at all and was too acidic in my opinion, so I wouldn't get that again either. I loved the mozzarella sticks, though. As a vegan, that typically dislikes vegan cheese, they were a hit. My non-vegan best friend loved them too! During my second visit, I ordered a Jalapeño Business sandwich with potato salad, rocky road to-go, and mozzarella sticks to share since I loved them so much the first time. My friend got a Buffalo Ranch Fried Chicken sandwich, and we decided to swap halves to try more things. I love spicy food, so if I had to choose a favorite, I'd pick my sandwich over hers, but both sandwiches were fantastic! The potato salad was good, but kind of bland for my taste. The rocky road was so yummy, and like last time, the mozzarella sticks did not disappoint. I love supporting fully vegan restaurants and will definitely go back to try more items on the menu. Maybe brunch next time I'm in the area? Not sure, but I highly recommend dropping by. Whether you're vegan or not, they have something tasty for everyone. In fact, each time I've gone, it's been with non-vegan friends, and they all say they'd eat here again.

The bread was super fresh--soft on the inside with just the right amount of crunch on the outside. You can tell they don't cut corners with quality. The meats were just as impressive--fresh, flavorful, and stacked perfectly. Every bite had a great balance of meats, cheese, and toppings. Nothing was overpowering, and everything tasted clean and well-made. What really stood out to me was how fresh everything tasted. It didn't feel like a rushed sandwich--it felt like it was made with care. If you're looking for a solid Italian sub with fresh bread and high-quality meat, Brothers Deli is definitely the spot. I'll for sure be coming back.

I really shouldn't single them out because I've noticed that a lot of the east bay delis have the same type of bread, but I will say that it just wasn't my taste. The rolls (I got the Dutch Crunch, sourdough roll, and the soft roll) were not that great and --like I said-- maybe it's the same vendors everyone uses in the east bay. For the cost, I'm not too enthused to try the other options. Every time I passed by their spot, it's busy, so I figured I'd try it. It's just not for me, but people seem to like it. ‍

The best chicken curry salad I have ever had hands-down and I've had a lot. I think they put watercress in it, but I'm not sure. Just the right amount of sweet and savory. Texture was delectable and so tasty on the Acme sweet roll. I should have just eaten half of it, but I could not stop. Can't wait to have it again and I will take pictures next time.

I recently developed an allergy to onion and, unfortunately, onion is the only ingredient not listed to remove on the Saint Francis sandwich (on their website). I decided to call to place a pickup order so I could mention the allergy. The man who picked up the phone refused to take an order insisting that I must place my order online. I explained there wasn't the option to remove the ingredient and was worried since I had an allergy. He argued that I was mistaken, and I could edit the order online or order a "build your own sandwich" (without acknowledging the additional cost for such a thing). I mentioned the inaccessibility of such a system and that I truly wasn't seeing the option to remove ingredients. He spent longer arguing with me over the phone than it would have been to take my order over the phone. Eventually, I relented, and placed an online order stating in the "notes to seller" (the only way to edit an order in this case) no onion on the Saint Francis sandwich. There was onion on my sandwich. Maybe instead of believing they need to be right, they should just listen to the customer and try to accommodate.
