Much smaller than I thought it was going to be (based on pictures) but don't let that deter you! Plenty of packaged snacks and drinks to buy from all the shelves, and a very good selection of tea bags. I came here for a breakfast sandwich and a latte. Breakfast sandwich: you get your choice of bagel type, and I ended up getting a egg and cheese breakfast bagel on an everything bagel. No complaints about the bagel, could have been toasted a bit more. I wish I had hot sauce or some other seasoning for it, the egg and cheese itself didn't have that much flavor. There were other sandwiches and I would come back to try something else. Latte: Very reasonably priced for Berkeley, especially for the size. It was an okay latte, definitely hit my caffeine need. Staff: incredibly sweet. They knew their regulars and very personable. Definitely support them if you are in the area. I think I would need to figure out my ideal sandwich coffee combo but there are plenty of choices. read more

I love this place. You will love it too. The owner and staff are all super kind. The mango smoothie is my favorite. I also appreciate all the ready made options, there's lots of stuff you can quickly get or you can also get a fresh made custom sandwich, which is also ready super quickly. I have fallen in love with this little eatery - Yelpers have got it right - they pack a MAJOR punch in a tiny space, making high-quality sandwiches, offering a yummy selection of pastries, fresh fruit and 'middle-eastern plate' delights ... and all for A TOTALLY REASONABLE PRICE! Where else in Berkeley can you eat a full lunch for under $6, including tax? I haven't found it yet! The employees are super-sweet, helpful, friendly, and familiar. This review is coming from a loyal Peet's fan, but when I'm in Berkeley and want coffee, I head for Nuha's Cafe. Their Yemen coffee is so delicious. I drink it black myself and it's really just one of the best coffees that I've enjoyed. If you get there early you might be able to grab a cheese danish to go with it. Not sure if they are still serving their yogurt cups, but I was a fan of those as well. But ultimately it's the coffee that keeps me coming back and I like to support the friendly staff as well. read more

Nuha's Cafe is incredible. If my dawg Isla, a five star kiddo, goes to there everyday of her life, you know the food finna be hella raw. I love going there with her and her squad and calling an Original New York Raspberry Seltzer and a muffin my lunch. She gets an Avocado Pesto Sandwich and a Lenny and Larry's Double Chocolate Complete Cookie (which is gross, but there's something there for everyone I guess). The service is excellent and Isla often finds herself getting free items as their favorite customer. Not me though. Anyway, it's a perfect spot for lunchtime shenanigans and gossiping about Naima and Amalia when they separate from us "accidentally". Everybody who reads this should wish Isla a happy birthday, she's probably depressed that she's gained so many wrinkles by the age of 17. Five Stars. read more

I've only ever been satisfied with this place. I stop by here for lunch sometimes as its quick and close to school. And don't let the teeny tiny space turn you away, for the food is great! I usually get the avocado sandwich, and it's uh-mazing. All avocado, tomato and pesto, perfectly big and ready made. Their baklava and bagels are also as good as can be and they have real good chai latte at a great price. I would also like to compliment the staff here as they're usually really friendly. I once forgot a rolled up drawing here and had a slight panic attack when I came home and realized it was gone, but when I went back the next day it was still there! Thankfully they hadn't thrown it out, and I bought a celebratory baklava for this fine little cafe. read more

I work near Berkeley City College, and Nuha's is one of the handful of counter-ordering coffee/muffin shops I frequent in the mornings. I rank them solidly in second place for muffins (behind Sandwich Zone) and first for their amazing lunch salads. Their muffins and pastries are Semifreddi's, which means they're tasty, have "real" ingredients/flavors, are super fresh, and a touch overpriced. The Bran Muffin is great if you're a bran muffin fan (huge muffin top, tiny muffin bottom, toasted along the edges) and the Blueberry Muffin tastes as close to homemade as I've had outside Mom's kitchen. Altogether, for pastries, they're solid. Their Greek Salads (both large and small) are outstanding! Lots of mixed greens (not just romaine) topped with Kalamata Olives, really fresh cherry tomatoes and cucumbers, some kind of magical feta, and absolutely the best balsamic vinaigrette of all time (on the side). They make these fresh, behind the tiny counter (and the vinaigrette), and even though it's a simple mix it manages to have the most outstandingly fresh and rich flavor. The young man and woman who always seem to be working are so kind, as speedy as possible with only two people and zero workspace, and never seem to take their stress out on customers despite the fact that it's usually 80 degrees in there. The line inside/out front is delightfully awkward, but the customers (young and old) seem to be respectful of each other and the wait time. The prices are just about right--a little higher than some places, but worth it. read more

I'd probably give Nuha's 3 1/2 stars. I have been going to this place from the start. It appeared to have change owners but has been pretty consistent. The people who work at the cafe are really nice, sweet people. They get 5 stars without questions. The standard breakfast fair is ok. semifreddi's pastries. bagels and what have you. Unless you request "well done" bagels are "toasted" to a mild warmth. The butter I believe is margarine and the cream cheese is some kind of gloppy goo - blech. It will keep you alive but I don't find it very appetising. 2-3 star breakfast. Lunch has much better options but I rarely get lunch here so check the other reviews on that. 4 star lunch. Coffee... well it has had its ups and down over the span of this place's existence. Lately I would call it "not very good". Not so long again I would have said "Good and the Yeman is excellent". The Yemen blend is pretty hardcore stuff - wild, dark and gamey. When its strong, it is a unique if not borderline mind altering. However they have been making it weaker and it just doesn't add up. 2-5 star coffee. Overall its a very decent place, with very nice people, but it does have its weaknesses. read more

I came in looking for pastries and saw they had bagels, I opted for their breakfast bagel with egg and cheese and a chocolate croissant. The sandwich was really dry, the egg over cooked and flavorless (probably from being made in the microwave). Might return to try their coffee but definitely not for the food. read more

But, I've ordered a double espresso multiple times and I've been disappointed every single time. Too watery, little to no crema, etc. Yuck. Really good place. I go there atleast, 3 or 4 times a month and they have never disappointed me. Well, this one time when the staff got my order all messed up but that's not really something I want to brag about here. They make good sandwich. Get the Chicken Stripped Sandwich; they are delicious. Good pricing also, very much relevant to the quality of their products and they prepare it before your eyes. I've recently been trying the iced lattes offered by the small places in this neighborhood, and I have to say Nuha's really impressed me. The espresso almost seemed to have a hint of caramel, and I've already found myself addicted after two separate occasions. I happily sit at work planning my next break at work to grab an iced latte from Nuha's. Sadly, I often get there too late to try any of the pastries, but the service has been pleasant, and I guess everything's good if their pastry case is so empty by the time I get there in the early afternoon! (And they sell my favorite Mexican chips that taste like Doritos without all the crappy MSG! Woohoo!) read more

Cozy little store, great for a quick lunchtime fix. My co-workers and I often pop over there for a quick sandwich. Pretty good selection of various breakfast, lunch and snack foods for the cubicle crawlers in the area. Their veggie sandwiches are quite good -- the hummus sandwich in particular is a great buy for veggie lovers. Stay away from their fresh fruit salads, though. The fruit is good quality but over priced. If you really want fresh fruit salad (the kind with cut up melons or other fruits), you're better off at Lox, Stock & Bagel. I have been walking past here for years and decided to check it out. The men behind the counter are super sweet and welcoming. I chose the Middle Eastern plate, which is worth getting if you want to try a little of everything. Unfortunately, they were out of tabouleh, but did substitute cucumber salad, which I had wanted to try. There was no parsley and the tomatoes looked like they had been plucked before they ripened, but the cucumber was tasty. I also thought the falafel was dry and the pita on the stale side. However, I did like the hummus, and I am not usually a hummus fan. I loved the baba gannouj, which had a marvelous smoky flavor. The dolmas were also great. Overall, it was a delicious, filling experience, and I look forward to returning and trying another scrumptious meal. read more

I just grabbed an iced latte from here on my way to work. It is really good, has just the right amount of bitterness and was reasonably priced. Their pastry selection looked pretty dismal: some croissants and dried out looking bagels. They have some fruit and snacks you can purchase. I'm not sure if getting lunch here would be worth it but I may try it soon. read more
