The shop is kinda funky on first impression, but cool. I was warmly greeted and served immediately. We got 2 sandwiches, that were generously sized and filled, with nice fresh ingredients, and were delicious. The convenience store part had a nice selection of snacks, with ice cold drinks in the fridge. We'll go again today when we return to our hotel. They're nice folks, doing great sandwiches. read more

I love E-Z Stop I have been coming to this deli for ages and when I say ages I mean since I was a little girl back in the early 90's when my parents would come to the deli. In the early 2000's I would come here often for lunch when I was in high school and till this day I still come by here to get a great sandwich for the best price. All the fresh veggies that you can get from other well known sandwich shops. All the options of bread that love all with that home like feeling from a NY family run sandwich shop. read more

Rip off artists, they're always charging different prices for their chicken. Some days it's regular prices and others its more expensive depending on who's working. Seems to me like they play favoritism. Never going back to these a$$hats read more

Food here are great. Service is always quality.. ambience chatter street typical store setting.

I love the sandwiches and the speed but I do not love that they catcall my obviously underage female friends every time we're in here. But those sandwiches are so damn good. read more

Honestly some of the most swell people you'll ever meet. Whenever I forgot to make lunch at home, they're my go-to place for a quick bite. They have a variety of dishes from sandwiches and bowls to fried chicken and plate meals. Quick service every time I've been there with no hassle. It's like a small market with all your alcohol, candy, and snack needs, but they're great at deli-type foods as well. They also have a punch card for their sandwiches. A nice shop in the middle of Shattuck with even nicer people running it. Will be coming back for sure read more

The man who's always in here does not wash his hands before fixing sandwiches. He comes from register, outside smoking and touching all things around him. I had to ask him to wash his hands or put on gloves before he fixes my sandwich (why do I need to ask that)????? read more

I've been coming here for many many years and have always really enjoyed their snack selection. I was feeling nostalgic yesterday and popped in for one of their rice crispy treats I used to always get. It was the only thing I ate that evening. I woke up at 5 am with horrible horrible food poisoning that lasted for hours. Can't recommend. read more

Good food, but the service is rude and staff repeatedly misuse pronouns with trans customers.

Great customer service! Gentleman behind the counter gave great advice and my food was delicious! Very happy they have drinks as well. Looking forward to my next stop in. It has a lot more than just sandwiches with a welcoming vibe. read more

Stopped by here today and bought a turkey sandwich with provolone, 3 bites into my sandwich and everything was great until the flavor of mold took over my mouth. And to my surprise after opening the sandwich was mold all over the cheese. I know you want to give them a chance just like I did but I am completely disgusted 0/10 read more

Very nice, I just love the old guys that work here. They're always very sweet and put a smile on my face.

I've gotten consistently good service at this store. Outside their fried items, I have been ordering their cheeseburger and grilled chicken burger combo and for 8.99, they're both a steal. It is usually busy but great when it's slow as I can come in and out in seconds. Ambience is alright. read more

After having a bad experience at Jupiter, was walking back to my car and i remembered this sandwich shop here from years ago. Walked in and immediately greeted by sam the owner and quickly asked me what i needed. This could possibly be the worst sandwich i ever had, but based on he customer service, im giving this place a 5 out of 5 stars Update: Just took a bite out of my sandwich and it was the best ever, if i could give it a 6 stars i would! Very satisfied customer, will be recommending and returning as well read more

Omg! Chef recommended the pastrami with Swiss cause it was made "with love" so so so good! Added Zappos chips and almost considered a "40" of deogonizer.., Jesus. Love this place!! Go go and go again. Delicious and reasonably priced! Clean, yummy, happy environment read more

They are great people but their sandwiches are terrible . And their cooked food is pretty horrible to. It's a shame. They don't seem to take pride in the food. I got a sandwich tonight and it was horrible and when I went back and told them they just ignored me. Whole Foods has great sandwiches in case your looking for one . read more

If you're getting off Downtown Berkeley and looking for LIQUOR (not just beer or wine). E-Z Deli has it!! For you weekend night dwellers, or Greek Theater attendees, or if you just want to be efficient with your getting drunk methods. Is there really no other liquor store in a 5 block radius around here? Bonus: lots of ready to eat deli food & snacks! Key words for people searching for liquor: wine, beer, alcohol, vodka, rum, gin, whiskey, tequila, booze, spirits, sizzurp (jk jk) read more

Aaagghhhhhhh! This afternoon, I saw a guy behind the counter with a gigantic bowl of hard boiled eggs. He was cracking them on the counter and putting the shelled eggs in another bowl. One SHELLED, NAKED egg falls on the floor and rolls a few feet away, across the black rubber floor mats, presumably plotting its escape to Shattuck Ave.* The guy thinks for a minute, shrugs, bends over and picks up the egg. Rinses it and pops it into the bowl with the other eggs. I think this was actually the owner of the store, as he was a few decades older than the rest of the staff, and seemed to have an air about him of "I know what I'm doing." Yeah. * Though God only knows what that egg expects to find there. read more

E-Z Stop Deli has slightly pricey microbrews, cheap $ chips/crackers.. standard deli sammie offerings. store is lengthy but has small walkways. bottlenecks occurs at cashier station and deli/sammie counter. eats: chips: 2/$1 -backup snack food. takeouts: -dislike standing around cluttered areas -clastrophobic, so just grabbed something and checked out. -friendly service but bottlenecks gave off bad vibes. maybe this place is 4 stars, didn't linger to find out. read more

+ 1 star for being open at 10 pm to make me a sandwich that I'm really craving. The guy behind the register was pretty friendly and had a sense of humor. I got a prosciutto sandwich and a turkey sandwich for $5 a piece. The sandwiches were fairly big, though the turkey could have used more meat (prosciutto had plenty!). They were darn good too! read more

This was the spot to go during my high school days. It's a cute little shop that has pretty much what a high schooler needed - snacks! Lol they also had a mini lunch bar where they made yummy sandwiches at! The place is small , so you could imagine how crowded it got when all the students were out for lunch. The owners of the location were really nice and friendly. Check it out if you are in the area! read more

Hot food and other unique offerings. Its part deli. Part liquor store and totally awesome. You will feel just like your in New York. This place helps serve all the Berkeley community including the scrawney Berkeley students who no longer can depend on regular meals from mommy. Find an excuse to come in. Bring a couple friends. If you're looking for something quick, cheap, and good tasting, this is your place. I stopped by to pick up a cheap schwarma wrap for R as we were driving to Napa. I was hungry, cold, late, in a hurry to get home, not in a good mood, untrusting humanity, doubting the value of a $4.49 Homemade Meatloaf and Mozzella (on Sourdough Roll with everything on it)Sandwich Special and wearing a "best get out of my way" face. They took care of all that and made me smile. Now, I carry their card in my wallet. They admired my camera so, I took their hammy mugshots. I like these E Z guys. You will too. read more

Don't even bother coming here Monday-Friday from 11:30 to 12:30pm. You will be stuck with 20 or more Berkeley High Students all ordering food. Matter of fact if you are planning to get food Downtown Berkeley during that time I would avoid the area and go someplace else that doesn't have 500+ High School students roaming the streets. Walked into today around 11:45am and it was just a massive amount of people all in my way. Completely fucking ridiculous. read more

A solid little liquor store right on Shattuck! The alcohol is definitely pricey, but you expect that from a small liquor store. They have a decent selection of hard liquor, a very big selection of wine, and beers and chasers in the back. They've also got a little selection of sandwiches and food for a quick lunch, and the new Krispy Krunchy Chicken addition is pretty great. Just took a star off for the prices. read more

Roast turkey sandwich. This sandwich was slightly dominated by the sourdough bread that previous yelpers had enjoyed. I recommend a less hearty bread selection. The sandwich had a excellent flavor profile with ample savoury mayonnaise and condiments. The turkey was well executed, chunky and adequately tender, though not perfect (152f internal temperature in my opinion for poultry.) For $7.69 this sandwich was fairly priced: not a steal but also not a ripoff. Berkeley doesn't seem like a bastion for food enthusiasm, so this place is worth a checkin. read more

I have been going here for years because their sandwiches are hearty portions. But today, the Reuben I ordered was half of what I was used to, size-wise. I commented that this isn't a ten dollar sandwich and the cashier became argumentative (skinnier, middle aged) and started to lecture to me what a Reuben is. The older guy (bigger) yelled at him to stop and to give me a refund. Furthermore, the cashier exhibited creepy behavior with their female cashier (physical distance, language/ tone, verbiage.. saying "shay shay" to a female Asian customer after she displayed a Korean passport to purchase alcohol.) I wouldn't want any woman that I care about to go to E-Z stop. This place will be closed soon if they keep this behavior up. read more
