The shop is kinda funky on first impression, but cool. I was warmly greeted and served immediately. We got 2 sandwiches, that were generously sized and filled, with nice fresh ingredients, and were delicious. I love E-Z Stop I have been coming to this deli for ages and when I say ages I mean since I was a little girl back in the early 90's when my parents would come to the deli. In the early 2000's I would come here often for lunch when I was in high school and till this day I still come by here to get a great sandwich for the best price. Honestly some of the most swell people you'll ever meet. Whenever I forgot to make lunch at home, they're my go-to place for a quick bite. They have a variety of dishes from sandwiches and bowls to fried chicken and plate meals. Quick service every time I've been there with no hassle. It's like a small market with all your alcohol, candy, and snack needs, but they're great at deli-type foods as well. They also have a punch card for their sandwiches. I was feeling nostalgic yesterday and popped in for one of their rice crispy treats I used to always get. It was the only thing I ate that evening. I've gotten consistently good service at this store. Outside their fried items, I have been ordering their cheeseburger and grilled chicken burger combo and for 8.99, they're both a steal. Aaagghhhhhhh! This afternoon, I saw a guy behind the counter with a gigantic bowl of hard boiled eggs. He was cracking them on the counter and putting the shelled eggs in another bowl. One SHELLED, NAKED egg falls on the floor and rolls a few feet away, across the black rubber floor mats, presumably plotting its escape to Shattuck Ave.* The guy thinks for a minute, shrugs, bends over and picks up the egg. Rinses it and pops it into the bowl with the other eggs. I think this was actually the owner of the store, as he was a few decades older than the rest of the staff, and seemed to have an air about him of "I know what I'm doing." A solid little liquor store right on Shattuck! The alcohol is definitely pricey, but you expect that from a small liquor store. They have a decent selection of hard liquor, a very big selection of wine, and beers and chasers in the back. They've also got a little selection of sandwiches and food for a quick lunch, and the new Krispy Krunchy Chicken addition is pretty great. Just took a star off for the prices. read more

The turkey was well executed, chunky and adequately tender, though not perfect (152f internal temperature in my opinion for poultry.) For $7.69 this sandwich was fairly priced: not a steal but also not a ripoff. Berkeley doesn't seem like a bastion for food enthusiasm, so this place is worth a checkin. read more

I have been going here for years because their sandwiches are hearty portions. But today, the Reuben I ordered was half of what I was used to, size-wise. I commented that this isn't a ten dollar sandwich and the cashier became argumentative (skinnier, middle aged) and started to lecture to me what a Reuben is. The older guy (bigger) yelled at him to stop and to give me a refund. Furthermore, the cashier exhibited creepy behavior with their female cashier (physical distance, language/ tone, verbiage.. saying "shay shay" to a female Asian customer after she displayed a Korean passport to purchase alcohol.) Since the lockdown, this place has been doing some price gouging on paper goods and sanitizer and single cans of beer. I do stop in to buy fried chicken once in awhile. I sure wonder why they sell biscuits that are so dried out, every time, that when I bite into one, most of the biscuit crumbles.
