Always the most friendly service, great prices and perfect sandwiches. I recommend this place to all my friends

I submitted a large order of 700 sandwiches for a campus event and Sandwich Zone knocked it out of the park! They were able to commodate our vegan and vegetarian requests as well. Lois and the rest of the staff were super kind and patient with our order process. Highly recommend Sandwich Zone! read more

I had the worst Reuben sandwich of my life. The meat used for the Reuben is certainly not proper. It's my fault for ordering a Reuben from here when the other options on yelp look much better. Order a typical sandwich and I'm sure you will be pleased. The green giant sounded great. read more

Great Sammy's, even better people. Loved this place. Super close to campus nice place to grab food n go

I just wanted to take a moment to appreciate Lois and her husband. I have worked in Berkeley for over 3 years and I just recently found this spot. The sandwiches are amazing and the prices are fair. My order is always ready and always delish. My company orders from here at least once a week. The Chipotle dagwood and The Ruben are by far the BEST. Thank you Sandwich Zone :) read more

Fresh, filling portions. Somehow able to make a pretty basic sandwich taste phenomenal. Quick service. Fresh bread and produce. Best takeout sandwich that I've ever had! We ordered from them every day that they were open during our time in town. Easily reached by walking. Reasonably priced as well. Five stars. read more

Great little sandwich shop. A hidden gem. I had an egg salad sandwich made to order which was delicious. The chocolate covered rice crispy treat topped off a light and satisfying lunch. read more

This mom and pop shop has been here for years. I have never been a regular but have stopped by occasionally. I definately recommend the veggie sandwich - fresh, quick, and tasty! Minus one star for their credit card surcharge. Mimus another star as I noticed they re-sell costco muffins for $1.75 each! What worries me about this is these muffins only stay fresh 24-48 hours and the ones on display looked a bit stale.. read more

Tried it via DoorDash, and got a Turkey sandwich and a breakfast burrito. Both were delish

They made amazing sandwiches for Berkeley Project Day and everyone really loved them! Well packaged, great tasting, and filling portions too! Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good meal :) read more

I got a chocolate croissant for breakfast. What a mistake. The croissant was not flakey nor buttery. It was a puffed dough, that mimic a croissant. The texture was unappealing for what I expected. I do want to try one of the sandwiches, as that is what they are named for. Getting a breakfast pastry is a sure NO from here. I have to wonder which bakery/wholesale they get the croissant from. Shudder..... read more

Food - 4 Service - 4 Value - 5 My mom and I stopped in here based on the Yelp reviews -- I got the Dagwood Chipotle and my mom got the other Dagwood sandwich. I enjoyed mine quite a bit, but she just thought hers was just "ok". This is a good place for a late lunch that won't leave you too full and will allow you to still eat dinner at a normal time. read more

This place is great, the sandwiches never disappoint and the people at the counter are always so sweet.

Good sandwich. I'd like to highlight the sweet roll. It was soft on the inside and nice and crispy at the edges without being too hard. Mine was warm! $3.99 for a "cold cut" roast beef sandwich is great. Everything in the sandwich was fresh. I've walked by this place a few times, but passed by because of the long lines filled mostly by the high school students. If you're a fan of cheese n stuff, this place is pretty comparable; however, they're not as fast at making your sandwich! read more

The chipotle dagwood is a solid sandwich and not quite the sizable monstrosity of the sandwich spot across the street (not to besmirch their fine sandwiches, just too large to eat regularly). It's a good handful still and they're generous with the bacon. Their chipotle sauce is nice and hot and not too creamy letting its inherent smokiness shine through. read more

Tasty lunch sandwiches to go. I really enjoyed their Chipotle Dagwood sandwich. Turkey, avocado, bacon, cheddar, and chipotle sauce just worked wonderfully. They wrap their sandwiches very nicely, perfect for eating on the go. The sandwiches are not particularly large, but are nicely packed. I also tried their breakfast sandwich, which was not bad, but unmemorable. The restaurant is located at what seems like the perfect place for a cafe, with a nice upstairs sitting area. Unfortunately, it is crammed with boxes, so it is best to just get your food to go. They also close surprisingly early, so I can never catch them for dinner. My recommendation, try the Chipotle Dagwood. read more

This is the "Stuffed Inn" of the west side of the Berkeley campus. I mean this as a compliment, as their sandwiches are just as good and as inexpensive as Stuffed Inn. They have an large assortment of food items you can choose from such as bagels, salads, sandwich breads and meats, drinks, soups of the day, the whole "sha-bang" of a sandwich bagel deli place. You can customize your sandwich and bagel orders with the huge assortment of deli meats, cheeses, veggies, shmears, and etc. But if that's too much to handle you can always go with their pre-customized sandwiches named a particular nickname (just like the pre-customized list Stuffed Inn has). My go-to is "Richard's Dogwood", which is turkey, bacon, cheddar, lettuce, tomatoes, and avocado on bread of your choosing. The ingredients are all very fresh, in my opinion even more fresh than Stuffed Inn. Oh did I mention they also have a good assortment of breakfast items such as the typical bagel to breakfast sandwiches to even a breakfast burrito? The store itself is the typical mom-and-pop sandwich place, a bit cramped cafe table seatings on the main floor. But they do have a small second floor overlooking things which is nice. A very consistently good quality morning and lunch spot! read more

Sandwich Zone - Richard's Dogwood! My yummy go-to sandwich here!! - Sandwiches Near Me - Berkeley, California

Chipotle Dagwood. Damn. I wish I had come here before. I have been to almost every other restaurant in the area but never bothered to come in here for some reason. I was going to go to Subway and the line was too long and I didn't feel like a Vietnamese sandwich (too much bread = too much carbs) so I saw this across the street as I was leaving. Glad I went because this will be my new sandwich spot from now on. Fresh produce, much better flavors than Subway offers, and practically the same amount of meat. read more

I've been a frequent customer of sandwich zone since they first opened a few years back. I usually get their cold sandwiches or grab a bagel in the morning. They are definitely catered to students as their prices are fairly low $5.50 for sandwich, chips and drink. Bagels are about $2. Putting in an order is simple.. when you walk in the door, there's a jar of pencils and smells sheets of paper with the menu on it. Circle what you want and bring it up to the register where they'll ring you up. You'll need to buy at least $5 worth for debit/credit otherwise you have to pay cash. Love their pastrami, tuna salad and roast beef. I docked one star as their sandwiches have shrunk dramatically since they opened. read more

Rock solid sandwich place all around. Great breakfast burrito and cheesesteak. Owners are the nicest couple. Would recommend to anyone!

I love the Richard's Dagwood sandwich from the Sandwich Zone. It's beautiful to look at and absolutely the best sandwich (IMO)! You can order a turkey, avocado, bacon sandwich anywhere, but it never tastes as good as the Sandwich Zone's. They must use better ingredients and they definitely use good bread. It's my favorite way to cheer myself up when I'm having a hard day. The owner's make it with love, intelligence, skill, and beauty. I am grateful to you, Sandwich Zone! read more

Love this place. Bread is always fresh and ingredients as well. They are not stingy with meat either, perfect ratio and lunch every time (: oh and owners are always super sweet. read more

Fresh, delicious, low price, various menus, and kindness shop. Good place to have a lunch

There's not much atmosphere here - just a solid little deli with a good selection of sandwiches plus some premade salads, drinks and chips. There are lots of students from Cal, as you would expect, and the business is locally owned and operated. Grab a sandwich and then head over to Blue Bottle nearby to feast in style! read more

Amazing, tasty, carefully crafted sandwiches at very reasonable prices. The flavors really jump here. Just show up well before noon, when the Berkeley High students form a line out the door. read more

$4.99 for a sandwich, fountain drink and a bag of chips? SOLD! I've been here a handful of times and have never been disappointed. All ingredients are fresh, and I've tried the roast beef and egg salad sandwiches, which were both really good. The 10y/o 10-key/cash register/credit card machine wiz is a future ceo in training, I assume she's the owner's daughter helping out for the summer. She'll have you rung up and checked out in seconds time. =) read more

Very good prices on respectably good sandwiches. Not Cafe Intermezzo quality, but still quite good (and they were very generous with the avocado on my veggie sandwich). As Andrew K. notes, they have a good array of chips, and also mountains of apples and bananas. As for ambiance, the place definitely feels family run (though I don't know if that's really the case). It's very cozy, in that cluttered-but-clean kind of way. I'm actually sitting upstairs in the low-ceilinged nook area, and there's still some exposed wiring (not anything dangerous--just looks unfinished), and a TV sitting on the floor against the back wall. Oh! FREE WIRELESS! A nice touch. Also, plenty of outlets. I will definitely be coming here from now on instead of going to Subway. read more

Less than 4 would be way too critical. I work right near this place and I'm here 3-4 times a week. Come lunch time, this is how it usually goes. Me: What do you want to eat? Coworker: Uh, I don't know... Any ideas? Me: uh..... Let's go to the Zone. Cheap prices (love their combo deal), fast and friendly service. Try to go before all the high school kids are out. Once you order your sandwich, just strategically place yourself so you're not in the way when people get their sodas. read more

Ah, the Sandwich Zone. I have stopped here many times for either a bottled water or a bag of chips on the way home, in-between classes at Berkeley City College, or before heading to classes over the hill to UC Berkeley. Sometimes both a bag of chips and bottled water. This past summer semester, I got the opportunity to have sandwiches here to takeaway to chow down on before rushing off to Cal. (Fiat Lux! Go Bears!) I have had the roast beef sandwiches so far here at the Sandwich Zone. Rare roast beef, Swiss Cheese, onion, lettuce, tomato, light mayonnaise, and light Dijon mustard is my litmus test. I am delighted to report Sandwich Zone passed the my litmus test! I like the method of ordering sandwiches here. You take an order form and pencil, choose the bread, meat, and condiments, and give the order form to the cashier at the till who will go over the order form before ringing up the price. You are given a number and when the sandwich is ready, your number is called and you go claim your sandwich. Easy peasy. You're good to go whether you decide to takeaway or eat in--I do agree with the other reviews that seating is limited here. I do believe this is a family-owned and operated business. The owners are very serious and nice at the same time. Their young son rang up my bag of chips in a professional and polite manner beyond his years. Their employees are quite pleasant and friendly. I will have to return to try the other offerings at Sandwich Zone for sure. Wishing you all good eats here. SYOY! read more

I'm kind of a pig, so the sandwiches, while good, aren't filling enough for me. I also don't like the fact that they mummify them in plastic wrap. I saw her make it right in front of me, so what's the point of preparing it for a refrigerator? I'll definitely be back, but not when I have a big or even normal appetite. read more

Came with a large group and they were happy to accommodate us. The owners were super kind and brought out a tray of free cookies for us as well. Sandwiches were easy to eat and really filling :) read more

Gosh, I am ALMOST a regular here. Sandwich Zone is my one-stop EXTREMELY FAST to-go lunch or breakfast spot (so many adjectives!). Basically, if I'm in a hurry, need a meal to last me ~5 hours at work, and don't want to spend over $5, I go here. I always get the cold sandwich ($3.99 flat) pastrami on dutch crunch, pepper jack cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, red onions, mustard, mayo. The sandwich is about 7 inches in length and a 1 pounder. It's definitely a deal over Subway across the street. They wrap it in paper & saran wrap to make sure your sandwich doesn't fall apart or leach juices in transit. So when I get around to eating it 3 hours later, it's still as good as it was when I bought it. The cashier will ring you up real quick and with your meal (brown bagged and all), you'll be ready to tackle the rest of your day. read more

Sandwhich Zone is a Mom & Pop deli. It seems the Owners are there everyday and you can tell that the place is their baby. I appreciate business Owners like them because you know that their hard work and sweat will pay off! They have a hearty array of hot and cold sandwiches prepared by hand they way you want. A good mixture of breakfast options and great salads. The deli is always packed with high school kids during the week so I try to go there after 2pm. My favorite sandwich, is egg salad on sour dough bread. With a bag of chips and a soft, who knew you could get a meal under $7 bucks these days. Their soup selection is also impressive; the cream of broccoli is Delicish! Move over Subway.. SZ makes it your way and way better! read more

Cheap, healthy, fast. When you walk in, there's a standard custom sandwich order form (like the kind they give you at Ramona's on campus) that you can fill out while waiting for the register. Or you can just order off the menu board, both works. There's a 50 cent charge for using credit or debit for purchases under $5, so watch out for that. If you're buying a standard cold cut sandwich for $3.99, grab a candy bar for $1 (or just bring cash - BoA's next door!) Similar to sandwiches from Cheese N Stuff, Golden Bear Cafe, and Pat Browns. read more

I forget what my sandwich was called, but it was basically a club sandwich (turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato) with avocado and a spicy chipotle sauce on Dutch Crunch. It was $5.99 without chips and drinks, but it was so delicious that I didn't even care. The family who owns the place was very nice, even though the man confused me and did not add chips and drinks to make my sandwich a meal. However, they accept credit cards and the food was great, so I'll definitely be coming back. Don't settle for Subway when you can get a sandwich you can really enjoy for about the same price! read more

Looking for a quick, simple, $5 sandwich? Go for any cold cut on Dutch Crunch. Can't go wrong. 3 stars for cheap sandwiches Revisit? Maybe P.S.
