We were in Berkeley for a basketball game and had some time to kill and hungry tummies. I forgot that there was a Super Duper Burger on Telegraph - score! It's on the main corner near campus - Telegraph and Durant. There is street parking and also a large parking lot on the next block with reasonable parking rates. If you're strolling Berkeley for the day, this is a good spot to hang for yummy lunch. The prices are reasonable and the service was fast. Our order was perfectly made to our specs. The employees are friendly and helpful. First of all, the inside is huge! I was surprised by how much seating there is. Also, there is an upstairs area with MORE seating! You order at a computer screen at the front, but employees are there to help you if you need assistance. It was easy to order our food. They text you when it's ready and you go pick it up at the counter. Burgers - perfectly cooked and hot - and delicious. SO many toppings you can choose from. Fries - hot and crispy. Served with ranch, and lots of other sauce options. We are not soda people really, so we drink water usually. Two burgers and two fries was $25.00 which isn't bad for downtown, freshly made food. They have wine and beer on tap, but I have been drinking excessively for the last few days now, gambling at GSR, Reno and at the Livermore wineries. Atmosphere - Decent size location, two floors. A security guard at the door. Plenty of indoor seating, table seating, and counter seating. Two unisex bathrooms. The one behind the soda machine fan/vent does not work well; use at your own risk. Open 7 days a week from 10:30am to 9pm or 9:30pm. Because we came on a Sunday (Caltopia Event, see other review), plenty of free street parking. Service - Counter self kiosk service. Two kiosks available. Plenty of employees everywhere. The manager was visible and greeted us. A team member was cleaning the ENTIRE time I was there! Price - $40. Reasonably priced. Will not be eating here again. One time, when I was waiting for my fries to be made, I was just eating a burrito I ordered from another restaurant down the street. Then a security guard thought I was just eating outside food in the restaurant. Instead of escorting me out, he smacked my shoulder and said what's wrong with you?? Don't be eating outside food here??? It was the older black security guard here. Super Duper Burgers is a Bay Area gem. I love how they expand only within the Bay Area. It just makes it all the more special to me and so may others. Super Duper hits any time of the day. But it hits the right spot the most in the evening. Something about coming in to the excellent playlist, seeing a sports game on the TV, and ordering my usual just gives me all sorts of happiness. What is my go to? Mini burger is cheddar cheese, a fried egg, grill onions, and no tomatoes with a fountain drink and garlic fries. Plus extra ketchup to dip on the side. The food is 10/10. Not too greasy! Not too heavy! The people who work there have been friendly and helpful. When there's an issue that needs to be addressed they have, to my experience, been able to handle and solve it promptly. Great location spot for this one in particular. We've been coming to Super Duper on Telegraph since this location opened (anybody remember Smart Alec's??) and literally only ever had good experiences. Food quality is consistently great. Staff is friendly. Pickles are free and delicious! I love that everything is organic and I reeeeeally love that all the packaging is compostable. The fried chicken in my sandwich was very chewy and had lots of slimy fat that wasn't trimmed, which kind of turned me off to the whole thing. I liked the slaw, however, and the pickles were delicious! I enjoy the atmosphere inside and the service is great. All of the employees are nice. During my 3 years at UC Berkeley, I frequented this place. While this is partly because I lived close, it's also a testament to the quality of this place. That being said, I have felt disappointed here enough times to not give it 5-stars. I was delighted when my aunt first discovered this place when visiting me. Though I missed my usually LA spots (namely In-n-Out and Habit Burger), this place was a good--but not perfect--alternative. I found the mini burger and fries more than enough to satisfy me, though I have a smaller appetite than most. The mini burger is good. Still too expensive, just like everything in this unaffordable city, but not unreasonable. It was tasty, too, and they had enough variety. The dipped soft serve tasted great, but was super leaky and messy. My hand was drenched afterwards even though I did not hesitate to eat it. Unfortunately, this is a major problem for it. The Naked Chick was downright disappointing. Two measly nibbles of chicken and pickles I got from the jar in the front for free. I don't remember how much it costed but I remember it being super unreasonable. Not worth it at all! The storefront is nice. It's right next to the campus and it has a nice storefront, but on a super shady intersection. I wouldn't recommend walking here alone at night. There's more than enough room inside and it's fairly clean. Staff was nice and attentive, but orders can take a while. This, however, might be due to the fact that they were always busy and seemed to make their food from scratch. Finally, I have to say I highly recommend their milkshakes. The seasonal truffle burger (I got a veggie patty) is VERY GOOD, though it was excessively greasy. Your hands will be shiny afterwards. But maybe well moisturized? The hazelnut milkshake is my favorite of all their seasonal flavors. Highly recommend. This location is a bit dirtier than other Super Dupers, but the service is still excellent. I usually make it a point to stop by Super Duper with my family for a quick burger--we've always enjoyed the food and the experience. However, tonight gave me pause and made me reconsider coming back. Surprisingly, the issue wasn't with the food but with the service related to the two beers I ordered. After paying, an employee with black hair, glasses, and a face mask asked to see my ID before handing me the drinks. I provided a valid ID, and he asked if both drinks were for me. I said yes. He asked again, and I confirmed. Despite this, he told me he could only give me one drink at a time and that I'd have to come back for the second one later. When I asked why, he said it was in case I intended to give the second drink to someone else and that each drink required a separate ID. I was taken aback. I had just explained--twice--that both drinks were for me, and I had presented valid ID. His insistence came across as accusatory and dismissive, as if I were lying. I wasn't intoxicated or causing any disruption--I simply wanted the drinks I paid for. Rather than escalate the situation, I asked my wife, who was at a nearby restaurant with our kids, to come over and show her ID. Another employee then handed her the second drink without issue. The food was good, and the rest of the staff was friendly. But this one interaction left a bad taste in my mouth. I hope management provides better guidance to staff on how to handle situations like this with more respect and common sense. read more

Was there Thursday night. Had possibly the worst chicken sandwich I have ever had. They offered me a mini cream cone,n which I declined . The chicken was either not cooked enough or 50 % fat. The outside was so hot i had to wait 5 min to try to eat it. So my guess is they deep fried a frozen piece of chicken which did not cook all the way through . It was supposed to be fried chicken. I love the burgers but will never order chicken again. I would stick with The Habit or Chick Filet. I am not looking for free food. I come here often with my mom. As someone with arfid its been one of my safe places to get burgers! I ask for my burgers well done since they are cooked medium. Decided to give this place another shot and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. The garlic parmesan fries are my favorite menu item and never disappoint. I visited this place after a long day of classes, and I am in love with the juiciness of their patties! I realized that the mini burger was already more filling than the super burger, but the flavor was still very exquisite. Sauces were yummy, and it pairs so well dipping with both the burger and their signature fries. I ticked off a star due to the milkshake being somewhat runny (maybe because it was a limited-edition Strawberry Shortcake at the time yet it takes time to mix in with the fresh strawberries, though the taste is surprisingly creamy.
