I still believe Jersey Mike's is the best tasting sub for a chain. This location is also convenient walk from work. What makes this location two stars is the service. Staff typically are not on it. Joking around having fun seems more important. Today I asked for napkins and they told me they were out. First of all how does that happen from a store management standpoint? Had a very poor experience here. I came in with my wife and daughter. There were no other customers in the restaurant, and there were about three staff standing behind the counter. Nobody looked at us or said hello when I walked in. When we are ready to order, I stepped right up to the counter to make it clear that we are ready. Still, nobody looked up. Nobody said hello. Nobody said anything. Three people just sort of stared down at a sandwich that one woman was making. I found out later that another one was in the bathroom. He was there for the entire 15 minutes that we were in the shop. Finally, I said, "hello, how is everybody doing?" The young woman making a sandwich looked up and said, "Fine, thank you." Still, nobody said "we will be right with you."; " What would you like?" Etc. another guy emerged from the back and asked what he could get started for us. We ordered our sandwiches a little bit clumsily. The woman who had been making the sandwich helped us with the condiments. And then we got checked out. Our stuff was just kind of sprawled out on the counter so I asked for a bag. The woman obliged and put our things in a bag. We walked out with our bag, feeling slightly confused by the poor service. I realize there were no napkins in the bag, so I turned around and went back to the counter. Again, nobody looked up. Nobody said anything. I blurted out, "May we have some napkins please?" One guy looked up and with a completely stone face and said slowly, "We don't have a napkins. We ran out." No "sorry about that". No alternative suggestions. I asked, "Do you have paper towels in the bathroom?" He said, again with no emotion, "Yes. There are paper towels in the bathroom." I walked to the back of the store to the bathroom and found that both doors were locked. Even though one of them said vacant. I walked back to the counter. Again, nobody looked up. Nobody said anything. I blurted out again, "Do I need a key for the bathroom? The same guy looked up and said slowly, "No. You do not need a key". Feeling that I must be in the wrong, I turned around and walked back and tried both doors again. Sure enough, they were locked. I went back to the front counter. Again, nobody looked up. Nobody said anything. I interrupted them again by saying, "both doors are locked even though one of them says vacant." The same guy looked at me like I had horns on my head and started to very slowly walk to the back. While we were walking to the back, I heard the door open and a new employee emerged. This was employee number four or five. This place is very well staffed for a spot with zero customers. With the bathroom now open, I got my paper towels and we left. As we were getting into our car about a block away, I realized that there were only two sandwiches in our bag. I walked back up the street and into the shop again. Again, no acknowledgment. Zero. The entire staff was now behind the counter looking down. I saw there was one sandwich kind of tucked under the cashier's register. I said, is this ours? Another staff member looked up and dryly said "yes." As if it was perfectly normal for customers to leave the shop missing a third of their order only to come back a couple of minutes later. In the end, our sandwiches were fine. It was $40 for two regular sandwiches, a kids sandwich, one fountain drink, one bag of chips, one bottle of Gatorade. I don't have super high expectations of a sandwich shop, but Jersey Mike's is usually well managed, and this was clearly a badly managed place with badly trained employees or employees with a significant morale problem. read more

I've placed several orders online that were not ready until 20 mins after the pickup time. Today I went into the store at my pickup time to find they hadn't even started my order. I waited 25 minutes to get a sloppy sandwich that wasn't even what I ordered. Got late to a meeting with food that I couldn't eat. I'd buy a giant The Veggie and a kid's size roast beef. For The Veggie I would ask for only 1/2 the normal amount of cheese and double avocado - which I gladly paid extra for. I also like extra onions. We always get avocado on the roast beef. Now I will never return to a Jersey Mike's ever again. There are two reasons. We have long had mixed results ordering the kids roast beef. Most employees happily make it and we pay for it. But every once in a while some hard ass complains that the kids size doesn't come with roast beef as an option. That is inconsistent and stupid. Charge whatever you need to to make this sandwich available to order and stop having random power-trippers deny it. But the true final straw is that I was told the last time I was in this Jersey Mike's that they would charge me extra for extra onions. What??? The "extra" onion costs fractions of a penny. I leave half of the more expensive cheese I am entitled to behind every time. I add avocado to one sandwich and double avocado to the other. I pay about $25 plus tip each time. But you know what? I've been a loyal customer of this location for years and have overlooked the slow service and mistakes they make in the past (they will put lettuce on after I LITERALLY JUST told them no lettuce).. but something happened today which I couldn't overlook. I went in today for a to-go order. So far, I have been impressed with the company's reaction to COVID-19; that is, the shield and signs they put in place to respect social distancing as well as the employees wearing masks ever since the Face Mask Mandate went into effect. Two guys were in front of me in line, and I'm not sure if it was them or just the employee, but it was taking a very long time. I waited patiently, respecting social distancing, especially because the customers were not wearing masks. The guy at the counter (he has curly hair and was wearing a white bandana as a face mask) was chatting with them, again, moving VERY slowly to make their sandwiches. I waited patiently. All of a sudden I overheard the employee talking to these customers about Aspergers Syndrome. I work with autistic young people and have spent my career fighting for their rights, and this jersey mike's employee had the nerve to call people with Aspergers "retarded", an incredibly offensive word no matter the context. This was unacceptable. Disgusted, I left right then and there. This employee should educate himself and learn professionalism. I hope this matter is handled. Due to work proximity and the location of this store, I rarely make the trek out here. If it was closer, that might be a different story. Ordered the club sub (#8) which comes standard with turkey, ham, provolone, mayo, bacon, mikes way. I got creative and switched out the ham for roast beef. Very tasty and efficient. There were multiple workers ready to prepare your lunch. The only bottle neck that I saw was probably only having one cashier. A lot of 4 top tables and booths. So if you come by yourself you may be taking up a lot of space. Most people take it to go anyways. So likely not an issue here. Overall, a great experience for a sandwich chain shop read more

Been here many times and would confidently say that the quality and taste is very consistent. I normally go for Jersey Shore Favorite on white or wheat (can't really tell the difference) if you get it Mike's way since they put a lot of oil and vinegar. I dread going here and the only reason I did this time was because Subway was out of tuna. It's like stepping into a frat house where they expect you to thank them for making you wait a long time while they make you a crappy sandwich. There are 6 people behind the counter and one person making sandwiches. I ordered a tuna wrap. They put the wrap "bread" on the grill for some reason and left it on there so no I am home eating a burnt, crunchy wrap. It too the guy 23 seconds to assemble my wrap with a very little bit of lettuce, tomatoes which almost made it into the wrap, very little oil and vinegar, he just shook the salt and pepper over the wrap once as if it was holy water, laid the pickles on then had the girl working the register actually wrap it up. I asked her first to change the paper as they didn't wipe the board and it was covered in the previous sandwiches drippings, then I asked if she could wrap it thin like a wrap and not thick like a burrito, but she told me they were taught to make them thick like a burrito. She apologized twice for the fact that the wrap was breaking because they had left it on the grill too long and was clearly embarrassed by the sandwich, but didn't offer to redo it. If Subway is a little too industrial for you, Jersey Mike's is worth a try. Tired & hungry after a round of golf, I remembered this place had newly opened (thanks to my Yelp friends). I was greeted, very enthusiastically, I might add, by no less than 3 people in the store, and decided to try the mini Original Italian sandwich. I was kind of surprised to see the person behind the counter cut everything fresh from the cooler in front. (What do they do where then is a line of people??) He was also very nice to explain that the standard dressing is lettuce, tomato, pickle, red wine vinegar, but there are also additional toppings available. Not wanting to mess with their formula on my first visit, I took their usual "Mike's way." It's a good sandwich, and it's a little more expensive than Subway, but when you see what they do, it's a fair price. The store is very bright and everything is clean - the chips display, the soda machine, the tables, the register area, everything. There are also 2 flat-screen TVs hanging in the corners of the store. What I really liked is that the employees have clearly had some training or workshops in customer service. The person making my sandwich asked if I had any questions about the menu, asked what I wanted on my sandwich before just piling stuff on, asked if I wanted it cut in half - just super polite service all the way around. I have been to numerous Jersey Mike's, most recently in La Canada. I am so glad we now have one in Pasadena on South Lake. Freshly sliced meats and cheeses right in front of you. Subway? Who knows where and when those things were pre-sliced, bagged up and sent to a store. Sandwiches are big, a regular is very filling with the toppings piled high. It's as close to an East Coast style sammy as I can get out here. Haven't tried the hot subs, but have to get one next time.Those are also made in the front, no microwaving here. read more

The place is always dirty. This is the third time I have had to bus and wash my own table and it's still sticky. The kids behind the counter don't do proper hand hygiene. They take money, touch their hair, faces etc. then put gloves on. When you don't wash before putting gloves on you put germs all over the gloves then touch food. You might as well not wear gloves. The food is fresh but I don't order. My husband always gets food, but based on the cleanliness I usually don't order, I go elsewhere. I wasn't sure if she was training new employees but I'm long time customer and from my experience I always get the same thing and the way she was training them was wrong and argued with me when I told her how I would like my sandwich .
