It's a standard Jersey Mikes but this store has serious managment and attitude issues. Was in last weekend and waited in line and they have NO ROAST BEEF. That kills a lot of popular sandwiches including some from my group. And, no wheat bread. Why are they in business? Have to be able to manage the most basic of basics if you want repeat business. This was a sad experience. Went this particular JM's opened, it was the best customer service I've ever had. Coupons, smiles, great execution of sandwiches and just an all around good vibe. We have come here about 20 times and this week was the end. A very rude woman took my order and proceeded to literally throw together a sandwich with a care. And at the end instead of Mikes Way, she did it her way.... no oil, just vinegar. Now, there a tasty sub.... not. Maybe a bad day, maybe short staffed. Not sure why this place has 3-star rating; they make fantastic sandwiches and have great customer service. How can one mess up a sandwich? I have been to other JM's stores and even though they follow directions well there have been times where they just make a sandwich or don't follow directions. This particular Jersey Mike's has an amazing asset in Jason (without neglecting the other staff who are great as well); Jason is very communicative, asks the right questions and encourages you to tell him, while he is making your sandwich, whether or not it looks the way you want it. How simple but how great is that? I have never met another Jersey Mike's staff that GENUINELY cares about how your sandwich looks. He also doesn't just slap on the ingredients but places them neatly resulting in a not messy sandwich. Additionally, if you eat outside, he will come out to ask you how was the sandwich. Amazing customer service and love that a sandwich made by Jason is guaranteed to have been made with love and passion . I've been to this particular store 20+ times and the sandwiches have all been perfect and the staff here has been friendly and quick!

I have been here twice now and I'm still not in love with this place. I thought it was going to be great because of the hype but I feel like it's missing a "pow" ingredient. I've ordered the Italian sandwich and the Reuben and both sandwich's seemed bland like it was missing something. I still want to try one of the cheese steaks but I'm afraid I'll be disappointed again. The service was great, the people were really nice. Will be back, hopefully one of the sandwiches will change me mind..... Update: Tried the Big Kahuna Cheesesteak and it was delicious. If there was a sandwich I would get, it would be the #56. Giovani showed some world class service tonight. Have been coming to this place a lot recently because my pregnant girlfriend is having cravings. We have to ask for the meat to be warmed up every time and everyone has been really accommodating thus far. I showed up tonight (unknowingly) at closing time hoping to satisfy the girlfriend's hunger craving. Had to ask for the meat to be heated, but the grille was clearly already cleaned and shut down for the night. I realized then that it was closing time. Giovani turned the grille back on and took care of the request without question. I work in customer service, so I know how moments like these go a long way. This Jersey Mike's needs to work on hygienics! Handling money, which is the filthiest thing in a food establishment, should always require thorough handwashing. The guy on the slicer and the girl sandwich maker need to wash their hands after handling money at the cash register. Just changing gloves without washing hands is not good enough since there is cross-contamination between hands that have touched money and the new gloves they put on. Also, the slicer must've been set to create paper thin slices-- the shredded slices and translucent slices proved that. We have eaten at lot of Jersey Mike's, and this is one of the worst! There are too many other places to go to in Encinitas to spend $17 for a couple of small sandwiches. Pass this place up. read more

They only had 2 employees working on Sunday (Labor Day weekend) at 1145am (lunch time). We had called in a phone/pick up order so we could pick up food prior to heading to the beach. When we entered the location we were not greeted and we stood at the pickup line for 10 minutes w/o any acknowledgement. There were about 10 people in line (soccer team) and they looked annoyed at the lack of staff, waiting, and poor customer service. I worked in the restaurant business for almost 20 years and there lack of greeting, eye contact, or even a, "we'll be right with you," caused my family and I to leave w/o food or an apology. We ended up driving 15 mins away to the La Costa location. They had 8 staff members working, greeted my family and I immediately, and the manager apologized on behalf of this ENC location. We will obviously not be visiting the closer ENC location and will drive the extra 15 mins to the La Costa location. Kuddos to La Costa management for having proper staff, and shame of Encinitas management for losing loyal patrons! read more
