I recently discovered this location of Mr. Peabody's, and I'm so glad I did! I was only familiar with the one over by Mission Valley/Fashion Valley, so I had no idea this spot existed. It has quickly become a new favorite. Their daily specials and happy hour deals are absolutely amazing--my friend and I were shocked to find drinks for just three dollars! We also ordered a burger special while we were there, and it was so good. If you're looking for great food and unbeatable prices in a fun atmosphere, you definitely need to check this place out! I entered. And sometimes I like to have a moment to myself in between work and picking up my son. But I also figured I'd get him a surprise snack! So I ordered the cheese fries which are supposed to have bacon etc but the nice bartender explained the cheese was out but they could put cheddar on it, I said sure! The only problem is they dont have bacon or anything on them. Are they out of bacon too? I planned on writing a good review but now I see my fries dont even have the bacon so I dont know if they are out of that too. But I do know that JACK was very helpful and cognizant of his surroundings and I appreciate that because it leads to excellent customer service. Who knows maybe this review will get me some free fries as a do over! Lol. Reasonable prices, nice vibe inside. Dark sort of with seating outside and a juke box all the goodies. Three successive trips in a matter of days and each time, Justin and Heidi were very friendly and conversational as well as being able to take care of a full bar and tables without missing a step. Great breakfast deals with $3.75 bloody marys and bleeding madras cocktails. 2 breakfast tacos for $5, with sausage, bacon or potato. Happy hour tacos at two for $5 with steak, chicken or fish options. $10.99 burger with fries and salad is a great happy hour deal. It is a San Diego Padres house, so the TVs provide local games and color. Most patrons are convivial and eager to engage in conversations to keep the vibe lively. read more

I just went to Mr Peabody's Bar and Grill today for happy hour. Once again they've changed the menu. 2 for $5 fish tacos - 1/2 the size of the last fish tacos they offered - shrimp cocktail ? 5 tiniest shrimp they can find. Not worth it !! read more

I typically go to Mr Peabodys for lunch. They have a great burger deal. My kids love everything they have eaten off the menu (burger, quesadilla, taco). I concur and also enjoy their onion soup. After 9 pm when there is live music it is 21+ only. My friend and I decided to check it out since Moho Strut was the band for the night. So much fun for me. A great local spot to have some good food, music and dance! Service was good. Got a drink right away. Bartenders were busy but still got to me. read more

I almost hate to review Mr. Peabody's for fear that it will become more popular than it already is. This is THE place for North County locals. There is a great selection of menu items & a service staff that are on their game. Friendly, efficient and fun to be around. There is a full bar managed by skilled (and attractive) bartenders who make sure your next round is on the way as you're taking your last sip. There are several things that set this place apart. There is entertainment 7 days a week with great bands most Fri & Sat nights. Food service is available well after 10:00 pm and in this area that is hard to find. Also, plenty of free parking, which is great! There's good media coverage as well. All in all it is a well managed property & has become my local favorite. read more

We like Mr. Peabody's, but we always are reminded when we sit down that the food service is a little slow same with today maybe it's the kitchen staff I don't know but we were hungry at 1:45 and the burgers took a while other than that, a really good spot to have a beer, glass of wine and start F off Friday. Funny note I was wearing my Ireland shirt so I asked the bartender if they had any Irish beers and he said now we don't have any Irish beers and then I looked above my table and the picture will tell you that they have the sister to Guinness called Harp, which I would've ordered, but at least I got a picture with the sign read more

The food was good--but unfortunately, that was the only positive part of this visit. We came to Mr. Peabody's in Encinitas on January 5th, after the holiday rush, when the restaurant was slow. Despite that, the service from our server, Lily, was shockingly poor. It took way too long to receive our first round of drinks. My date waited 15 minutes prior to me arriving. Which appeared she did not ring in her drink. When I arrived we ordered food and my drink which came out prompt (the only thing to come out prompt). After food was delivered, she never returned to check on us. When additional food came out, we were not given the correct amount of silverware or plates, and I had to get up and ask another staff member for basic necessities as she was not present. Our beers sat empty while Lily stood in the corner or chatted with other tables. Eventually my date left, and I waited to close out. I stacked all plates and glassware and stood by the table--only for Lily to walk directly past me without acknowledging me. I once again had to rely on another server just to pay. I work in the industry and know the standard of service. This was complete neglect. I did not tip, which I never take lightly, but tips are meant to ensure prompt, attentive service--and that did not happen. Good food does not make up for being ignored. If I didn't know other staff members here, I would not return. I will not be choosing to dine here if Lily is serving on the floor. read more

Saturday, Novembe 15 2025 I went to this restaurant with some friends local great restaurant in the Encinitas area off of Encinitas Boulevard a little bit past the five freeway and a strip mall This place was great great customer service great food. They had a band that played about 9 PM. They were awesome. Really enjoyed the atmosphere of sports bar atmosphere TVs nice bar set up. Nice tables. Everyone enjoyed their food and enjoy the live music. A lot of us were dancing. The music they played was from the 70s and 80s air great band enjoy dancing great place highly recommend read more

I've been going to Mr. Peabody's for years and have enjoyed the low-cost food. I went recently on a Sunday night and the food was mediocre and the jazz band had the music turned up so loud it was painful. Never again. read more

Updated Fish & Chips as of 11/1/24! In addition to the very fresh and plentiful battered fish fillets (of different sizes) and great french fries, they now have added a side caesar salad on the plate. The band was good and the service great, but unfortunately the food was not. My wife ordered the prime rib which looked great on their on line photos, but she ordered it rare, which it was not, and was disappointing overall. I was excited about the prime rib French dip, and had a similar experience. It didn't taste great and kept falling apart like a sloppy Joe. It was LOUD (Thursday Night Football was in full swing) ‍The server was very kind, but super overwhelmed. There was only 1 on the floor for the entire restaurant, which caused serious delays in service. (She would forget or get sidetracked because there was just a lot going on .) The food is good/ok. I tried the Prime Dip Sandwich. It does come with Ancho Chilis which gives it a bit of a Philly Cheese Steak vibe than a French Dip. The au jus could use a lot more flavor for my taste. The fries are the bomb though! Side note: no fountain sodas/drinks. They have canned Coke products. read more

Good items include prime rib ( bigger slice than high priced restaurants) Hugh baked potato with everything. Mud pie to die for. Great pours on all mixed drinks. Tonight was our Sunday take-out Prime Rib dinner the wife and I will split for $20 ($19.99). TO - GO!!! Note my previous review @ $21.99. Also note the size is 12oz compared to local casino and other prime rib stops locally @ 8 and 10oz portions. We arrived just before 6pm and the band looked like it was setting up. The service staff that greeted me at the door were efficient and friendly. They gladly took my credit card and brought my food out in a nice paper bag - with handles. Fancy schmancy! And the bag was heavy. I called the huge, loaded potato as being the cause, and I was right. Very large russet. Very tasty with skin on. I think they must salt the skin. The prime rib was delicious and cooked perfectly to our desire. The mushrooms were satisfactorily prepared and plated to the side. It has been a while since I have been to Peabodys. Came back recently to watch a band play. It's a lot busier than it used to be and the food is still great! The waitress Alyssa was super sweet and nice. We ordered the loaded potatoes skins and they were delicious. They have inside and outside seating. TVs inside to watch sports, etc...I noticed they took out the pool table and kind of turned it into a dance floor/viewing area. Still a great place to get a drink, great food, and positive vibes. read more

I came here on recommendation from a friend/colleague. I live in Ocean Beach so coming up to Encinitas is rare. My friend lured me here with the prime rib special. I came with 4 other friends to try the infamous $19.99 prime rib. I liked the bar feel since I love dive bars so that was a plus. We all ordered the same thing. The prime rib was okay....a little on the salty side. BUT oh man the baked potato was like to size of Shaq's shoe!! Holy moly it was huge. :0) Needless to say that was my gift to take home but I finished the prime rib and a little of my friend's too. Place is clean and usually has live music. Cheap drinks, food specials and big portions make this place loved by locals. Staff is friendly and attentive. Been here a couple of times and enjoy hanging out, with that said they had the worst band I have ever heard in my life play last night. The echo and reverb was up way too loud and the band was not great which did not help. A patron even stopped the band in between songs to help with a sound check. I did not last to see if that helped and got out of there to stop the bleeding coming out of my ears. I'm sure I'll be back. Came here last night and got to Sit in on the Thursday Night Jams with Bradley and friends. Very wholesome experience , I had my girlfriend meet up and even got a bit of dancing in! Really happy about the vibrations and the host is very professional. Definitely I want to make this Thursday jam a routine. Bartenders are very sweet and the cooks are awesome. The prime special is a fantastic deal! The fully loaded potato is delicious and the prime rib was nice and rare. The outstanding part, though were the mushrooms that come with the meal. Mr Peabody's is a very noisy sports bar heavily promoting their $19.99 prime rib special available after 4PM. My wife an I went there for their special and ordered it. When we got the bill, I was surprised to see we were charged $29 each, some 50% more. When I questioned the mistake, I was informed we had ordered the higher priced cut and they couldn't correct the bill to the proper, lower price. At the time we placed the order, the waiter could have sought clarification to verify that we really wanter a higher price item which seemed to be identical to the item we ordered, paticularly as noisy as it was, but he didn't do so. He may also have thought that we were a senior couple and would not check the bill for accuracy before paying and thus increase the company's profit. It was an unpleasent experience. I come to Mr. Peabody's on occasion. It's a small bar that quite often has good bands. I was there a few nights ago to see a favorite band. I had one cocktail. When I was ready to check out, the waitress was nowhere to be seen so I went to the bar to get change so I could leave payment, including a tip ($15), on the table. I stood at the end of the bar (closest to the stage) for at least five minutes while the female bartender chatted up another patron down the bar. I know bar employees are very aware of their surroundings and who has or hasn't been helped so I assumed she would take a break from her chat and come wait on me. In the meantime, my friends (and ride) were walking out the door because they were paid up and ready to leave. I finally lost my patience and left. People who work at establishments that require interacting with customers need to remember the customer pays their bills while attitude does not. If I hadn't thrown away the check I might consider going back and pay the waitress directly because she did nothing wrong, she did not deserve to be stiffed. I'm posting this mainly so management is aware of this experience and why some people such as myself walk out when that is not something they would normally do. read more

Food was mediocre at best. Chicken Quesadilla had little to no cheese. :/ pretty bummed. But the worst of all was the odor inside the restaurant. It was more prominent near the bathrooms so we chose a table by the front door. The smell needs to be addressed immediately, it smells like old musty sewer. Strong enough to make one gag. I love the food in Mr. Peabody's because they used to be cheap and good but now with inflation, the prime rib that used to be $20 is now nearing $30, which made me a little sad. They also had golf on tv so that was unexpected since I was hoping to watch a basketball game for March Madness. The good news is that they still do live musics on Friday and Saturdays, but the service here is so slow that I'm not sure if I wanna go back especially for takeout (just to give you an example, I was ordering a slice of pie but ended up waiting 20+ minute for it). I was really bummed with the price increase but I understood the reasoning behind it. I guess my favorite hole in the wall is not a hole in the wall anymore but still great food and friendly service. Wish I lived closer by so I can hear live music every week! Price: $$ Location: Close to Lazy Acres & Moonlight Beach Parking: Plenty of parking Service: Friendly but slow. Recommend dine in. $20 prime rib dinner and happy hour to 6pm, need I say more? Small place but very homey vibe. Servers are attentive and polite. Food is amazing and huge portions and also jazz on Sunday nights.
