We ordered half buffalo and half barbecue. I definitely preferred the barbecue sauce. The buffalo sauce was good too, but it did have a little kick to it. They also have an amazing craft beer selection, which was another huge plus. The staff members were incredibly friendly and made the experience even better. Overall, this is such a fun spot to hang out, grab some wings and drinks, and enjoy the atmosphere. Definitely recommend checking it out!!!

It was relatively empty of day drinkers so we were able to chit-chat and joke around with Tab. Just a fun, old-school dive bar.

More like a neighborhood hangout for locals but welcomes visitors. We sat at the bar where we were warmly greeted by our friendly bartender. We were just in for a couple. Beers for the guys, White Claw seltzers for the wives. Prices were reasonable, lots of TVs, surprisingly clean bathroom, pool tables, just a really cool spot. Totally a 5-star experience EXCEPT. When the girls each asked for a pint glass of ice to pour their seltzers into, I'd swear that I saw the bartender scoop the ice directly with the glasses, rather than using a scoop to pour ice into them. A huge no-no. Never risk a chip of glass into the ice well. Always use a metal scoop. Our friends went the next day and said it wasn't the case with them, so I hope I'm wrong. If not, perhaps an OSHA refresher training course is needed.

Asked for some house chips (I guess they dont bring unless you ask here and zero accompanying salsa I mean really?) got a small portion to dip in the bean spread; it was the best part of the meal, and it shouldnt have been. Basically, blew a C-note just to find out Sharkey's has much better tasting food. A one and easy done for us, too bad.

When we got there, our IDs were checked, and right away my friend needed to use the restroom. There are two bathrooms next to each other, one clearly labeled "Women," and the other labeled as an all-gender restroom, which should be open to anyone. We got in line, and when someone came out of the all-gender bathroom, we assumed it was fine to use. But as soon as we went in, a security guard aggressively opened the door and started yelling at us. It was honestly really unsettling. He claimed it was a men's bathroom, even though the sign clearly said all-gender. To make things worse, a random person walked into the bathroom while we were inside, which made the whole situation even more uncomfortable. The security guard then blamed the confusion on the owner, saying they "forgot to put up a men's sign," which didn't make any sense given the labeling. Overall, this was one of the worst experiences my friends and I have had. The situation felt disorganized, the security guard was extremely unprofessional, and the staff didn't seem to care at all. We didn't even get the chance to try the drinks or food because this happened right away. I would not recommend coming here. It seems like they don't have things properly managed, and the experience was just awful from the start.

According to the old lady bartender military ID is invalid because it doesn't have your height and weight. She was very rude, this place needs bartenders who actually like their job. Beyond that, nothing inside really stood out compared with some of the other speakeasies I've visited around San Diego. Still, it's a cute experience and worth checking out at least once, especially if you enjoy hidden entrances and themed bars.

And our server was fantastic. So why, you might ask, only 4 stars in my review. Two reasons: 1). Management has prohibited giving a splash of a beer for someone to sample. Bottom line is that I wanted to order a pint of beer, but I wanted a splash of a couple of beers to try to make my decision. They refused, saying that one must buy a 5oz taster if one wants to taste the beer. I find that policy offensive. In the end I bought a taster to taste the Chuuurch, and then bought an additional pint after. It just seems nickel and dimey, and would be asking to an ice cream place not allowing one to sample their ice creams before buying a cone. I hope management reconsiders this policy. 2. My wife got the Hot Mess Fries and was disappointed not only in the flavor, but also in the misleading advertising. On the menu it specifically said that there was bacon in the fries, but in fact what they put on the fries was either chunks of ham or "Canadian bacon" (which as we all know is a very different thing from "bacon"). If they were or of regular bacon, the kitchen should have told the server this so he could have asked her if she wanted ham as a substitute. And, of they always use ham instead of bacon, them the menu needs to be changed to reflect that.

It's far too small to dance unless you're slow or maybe 2 stepping in the corner. The ambiance is dim, relaxed, fun. The drinks are just as good as some of the top bars around, helmed by Wyatt who you may remember from Switchboard and KNVS is a staple in Oceanside. Prices are excellent, staff is great. While you can get a cocktail here, you don't have to. A classic shot and a beer is just as likely to be had here as a stemmed glass proper cocktail. When it's jamming it is near a standing room all the way around. No doorman asking for a password, no re-entry on nights when Heritage are open (Monday is this exception). It's funny to watch South O locals wander in here and realize maybe it's time to stop trying to change places to be like other places and enjoy the experience shown.

I'm not entirely sure if their menu is complete, but they have an assortment of reds, whites, drafts, cocktails (soju-based), about 20 beers on tap and a few bites (including a smashburger, quesadilla, a burrito, grilled cheese sandwich & now Argentina Empanadas). It's important to take note that there's no kitchen immediately on-site. Honestly, I don't know what to make of this place. I can only guess that the old branding wasn't working, so they swapped up some interior, slapped on some paint and added 2 projection screens? The service was fast, friendly & helpful, thank goodness! The bathrooms were clean at the time of use. But this location appears to lack a sense of identity. The interior wants to say "cozy wine bar". But then they're serving burgers and have sports on the tv. It's all very confusing. I would wish they would pick-a-lane and just focus on that aspect. It appears that this place will be a "fine wine bar", that may have tapas & small bites, but currently carries bar-style foods. The high-tables seat couples or pairs of twos. Since I know they're still working out the kinks, I'll come back later and hope that they come to a focal point on what they want to bring to the dining scene in the downtown area. As it stands, I would really recommend The Meantime to those who want to socialize over some wine, but desire a less populated or crowded scene. So, maybe good for an "after dinner sip" spot or social hangout with no expectation of a big dinner & for the selected sports games.
