1ST STREET BAR @ ENCINITAS Parking is available on public streets or in nearby neighborhoods. I visited during Halloween weekend and, since I was the designated driver, I ended up finding a spot just a street down--it was surprisingly easy! This was my first time visiting any of the bars in Encinitas, and my friend had recommended this place, so I was really excited to check it out. The line was out the door probably due to Halloween, and the cover was $20, which is on the pricier side. I'm not sure how busy it gets on a regular weekend, but it was definitely packed when we arrived. The space itself was great, with good music, lots of people dancing, and a lively crowd overall. I really enjoyed my experience and would definitely consider coming back on another weekend. read more

I want to start off saying I use to love this place but a employee named (ASHLEY)- bartender had ruined this whole experience for me! I had bought 2 drinks with different transactions tipped a decent amount on the first, and as I get my 3rd drink (ASHLEY) says, "your friend tipped me and you didn't so I'm denying you service" and she looks at me and smiles and walks away as if I didn't wait like 10 minutes for her attention!! On Thursday Car Show in Cardiff I was enjoying the car show and having beer just outside of the 1st street bar. After leaving for the night I discovered that my billfold (wallet) was missing. The next day when the office was open I could out they discovered it and was returned intac nothing missing, credit cards and all my cash. If you have ever lost or misplaced something like that you will never forget the felling when they give you back your belongings intact. Best of all no charge. I will be back for sure! read more

I come here often with my friends and always enjoy playing pool and I've always had a nice bartender, and drinks are good. But the security guards are rude and give no explanation as to why they kick people out which is stupid. My friend got kicked out for making space to let someone get back to the dance floor, and bc it's overcrowded he stumble a bit and immediately got removed. Maybe it's what you get when you go to an overcrowded run down bar I guess... but just be aware of getting "too drunk" at this bar. read more

We sat at the bar, Becky and I ordered beers, our friends had cocktails. The wives jumped up and played the "Duck Dynasty" video game then my buddy and I played. He slaughtered me. The four of us then moved on to shuffleboard. Boys against girls. Boys won! ...barely. We had a blast, in no small part due to Kirsten. We love 1st Street Bar for day drinking! read more

Terrible expierence with a rude bartender I want to share my experience at 1st Street Bar on Sunday, February 16, 2025, around 2:15-2:30 PM, in hopes that the business takes note of this incident. My friends and I walked into the bar and were greeted by the only male bartender on shift, wearing a brown and yellow SD hat. Unfortunately, this visit left us feeling extremely unwelcome. We simply came in for a casual afternoon drink, but instead of a normal ID check, the bartender aggressively yelled at us as though we were trying to sneak in illegally. His behavior was completely unnecessary and unprofessional. Also just to mention he proceeded to check every ID and feel them up to make sure they were not fake. While we understand the importance of ID checks, there's no excuse for the hostility and rudeness we experienced. Rather than creating a fun and welcoming environment, this bartender made us feel uncomfortable and disrespected. To make matters worse, everyone who came in after us was treated with far more respect and courtesy. He should really pick a different job because no bartender should treat anyone this way. Having a bad day or not he should not ever talk to anyone with the disrespect he spoke to my group with. I won't be returning to this bar, and I would caution others to avoid it unless they're okay with being treated poorly. read more

Great find ! We were in town on Sunday afternoon for the spring fair . Walking by we heard some great music so we decided to stop in. The band was really good. The bartenders were friendly and service was great! Beer prices were reasonable. We decided to eat at their food truck out front . We had a cheeseburger and it was very tasty. It comes with lettuce, purple onion , tomatoes, pickles.. you put your own condiments on it . It was football style which apparently means it's on a long deli roll and the patty is long and not round. My BF and I both really enjoyed it . 1st Street seems like the go to place in Encinitas with a crowd. I wouldn't necessarily say it was poppin but a nice local spot when you're out with friends. Music is a hit or miss. My first time here was Halloween '18 and perhaps it was my friends dressed in onesies that made it fun, but we had a good time. Not a fan of last night's music but still had a great GNO. Ladies if you need to tinkle, there's only one toilet..so grab a drink and move to the beat in line lol. If you are searching for a dive bar to escape the gentrified establishments popping up every month in Encinitas, then look no further. 1st Street bar is an old school drinking establishment in the heart of the city. This dimly lit dive offers guests the requisite pool table, shuffleboard, neon lighting, and random surfboard wall art. If you can not wait for the witching hour to get your drink on that is okay. The stucco walls keep the sun out and even if you arrive at noon, you will escape the light of day. A group of us walked to 1st Street after celebrating my birthday eve elsewhere. These loyal friends wanted me to kick off my Monday birthday with a drink at 12:00 am. The effervescent crowd at that hour was mostly made up of twenty-somethings, but I felt welcome nevertheless. I ordered drinks for everyone that I met and before you know it we had a large group dancing to the DJ who was primarily interested in playing Karaoke. I tipped her and she played a song that I thought I could sing. Thankfullly, she turned up the volume and drowned out my crackling voice so that nobody left the party. We ordered a pitcher of beer and we showed the bar tender my Yelp app. He looked so impatient and he asked "What is this", I told me "Yelp check-in offer". It's close to the beach so you can come before or after your beach sesh. Since covid, they have now built an outdoor patio which is a great addition!
