First time at Hamburger Hut. It's a cool little spot. You order outside but all seating in inside. We ordered a single burger, Jabba wedge and chicken nuggets. The wait for our food wasn't too long. Inside they have fountain drinks, lots of chilis and ketchup and mustard self serve. I really liked my burger, patty was tasty, fresh veggies and the bun was semi sweet. If I could title this review, I'd call it Sheet O' Meat. Calling this patty a smash burger seems generous. I could probably roll out my craft cart and slide it through my laminator and hang it on the wall next to the cool masked luchador painting and the Polaroids of every cool Lucadia tween who's wandered through. I could not tell if they are pre-mixed or not, but the overall result is tasty. The atmosphere from the exterior gives a good impression. The sad part is, they're trying in all the other areas, but just not delivering. Cons: Let's start with the order. Our order was for 6 burgers, 3 fries and 4 cocktails. 155 +15 tip ? That's a little pricey for fast food. You order at a window and get a pager for your efforts. Pick up at counter in about 15 minutes... no delivery to your table, pick up. I began to look at the order and asked myself, where is the burger part of the sandwich - is that burnt patty the extra bacon I ordered? What a mess of an order with missing drinks, wrong sandwiches, and no labeling. Back to the counter. As far as quality, nothing to get excited about. Tasteless. There are so many better burgers. It was not busy so I ordered right away, for the first timers like me, you order at the outside window before walking in to find a table. The aesthetic of the restaurant is great! Loved the vibe. They have a bar area as well so you could just walk in, sit at the bar and order there. It's a lot bigger than I expected it to be. They have seating area in the back patio as well with fire pits, so big groups of people can definitely enjoy eating here. The service was great and the restaurant is clean and has clean bathrooms. Driving down the coast and we spotted HH on the side of the road. So glad we stopped. It looks like a little shack from the road, very deceiving. I had high hopes for this place, especially since it's a cool looking corner shack on the North Coast Highway 101 in Leucadia. However, it was an odd experience on a few levels... The music was blasting and it was rather dark inside with an interesting crowd. There is a chill vibe here with a small bar area that caters to just a few locals who brought their dogs and even their babies. I could tell that everyone knew each other. When I ordered, Colin tried to upsell me on some chicken nuggets in addition to the burger and fries that I requested. He was a cool guy, but that was a first for me in a burger joint as a native San Diego. Then, I asked for the meal to be packaged to go, and we had some discussion about it, so I was surprised when it was delivered on a tray for here. I got the sense that business was slow here, and that he was trying to bring in some more business. Now for the food... The Classic Hut Burger was more like a smashburger (1/4"), which was a dissapointment. If I would have known that the burger patty would be so small, then I would have ordered the double burger. The fries were similar to shoestring fries, and they were a bit over salted for my taste. Overall, the food was good, but nothing special... This was a one-time visit, but I'm sure if I lived in Encinitas, then I would stop by for a beer and those chicken nuggets that they raved about. Decided to pop into Hamburger Hut and were pleasantly surprised by the festive holiday decor. We ordered at the window outside and found a small table. I used to give this OUTSTANDING ratings, as a vegetarian they used to have Cesar salad and fries that was supportive to vegetarians. From what looks like a small unremarkable burger joint from outside, Hamburger Hut is full of surprises. The restaurant has a small bar with variety of craft cocktails and small yet mighty menu. I appreciate cute and unexpected ambience and expresso (tequila) martini, but I wish there was at least a chicken option on the menu. Prior to visiting, I found a copy of the menu on Google review, saw chicken option and was excited to try it out. After we arrived, parked and got to the restaurant we were informed that chicken option was removed months ago. A very cool and cute hamburger stop with a lot of charm. I enjoyed the look and feel of the outside and interior. Burgers for the family and even a bar for the adults! You order via the outside window and you find a spot inside. They even have an extended back patio area so there's a lot of space. The service was fairly quick and we got our order within 10 minutes. The Double Hut was a really good classic cheesburger. The bun was nice and fluffy as well. My favorite part, was the charred/crisped texture of the smashed patties. I recently visited Encinitas for the first time with family. While driving to our Airbnb, we passed Hamburger Hut and knew we had to bring my burger-loving brother to the spot. We were not disappointed. The interior is so sleek and trendy-looking in a sense. They truly mastered that "cool" ambience. I loved how they had outdoor seating options and indoor seating options and both were equally as inviting and clean. The girl who helped us with our order was so so so sweet and looked like she had a good time surfing before her shift! There were a lot of families so definitely kid-friendly. The food was beyond delicious if there could even be better ways to describe how good it was. They had ketchup and mustard stations throughout the premise which I dabbled in for extra sauce on my hut burger, my two brothers got the jabba fries and the burgers as well and agreed they were even better than a certain popular chain, and my mom got the wedge salad which she was delighted with. They have gluten-free buns which made me feel so safe as someone with a gluten intolerance. Overall a great spot to be at and a must-try. Will definitely be back soon! read more

Decided to grab a burger during a bike ride and was happy to see a bike rack right outside. $10 for a single hut is pretty good these days and it comes with a variety of toppings. I love Hawaiian buns so that put this burger towards the top of my list! I did receive a really big end piece of lettuce on the burger that was a little too big.
