It was not busy so I ordered right away, for the first timers like me, you order at the outside window before walking in to find a table. The aesthetic of the restaurant is great! Loved the vibe. They have a bar area as well so you could just walk in, sit at the bar and order there. It's a lot bigger than I expected it to be. They have seating area in the back patio as well with fire pits, so big groups of people can definitely enjoy eating here. The service was great and the restaurant is clean and has clean bathrooms. When I ordered, Colin tried to upsell me on some chicken nuggets in addition to the burger and fries that I requested. He was a cool guy, but that was a first for me in a burger joint as a native San Diego. Then, I asked for the meal to be packaged to go, and we had some discussion about it, so I was surprised when it was delivered on a tray for here. I got the sense that business was slow here, and that he was trying to bring in some more business. Now for the food... The Classic Hut Burger was more like a smashburger (1/4"), which was a dissapointment. If I would have known that the burger patty would be so small, then I would have ordered the double burger. The fries were similar to shoestring fries, and they were a bit over salted for my taste. Overall, the food was good, but nothing special... This was a one-time visit, but I'm sure if I lived in Encinitas, then I would stop by for a beer and those chicken nuggets that they raved about. I used to give this OUTSTANDING ratings, as a vegetarian they used to have Cesar salad and fries that was supportive to vegetarians. I recently visited Encinitas for the first time with family. While driving to our Airbnb, we passed Hamburger Hut and knew we had to bring my burger-loving brother to the spot. We were not disappointed. The interior is so sleek and trendy-looking in a sense. They truly mastered that "cool" ambience. I loved how they had outdoor seating options and indoor seating options and both were equally as inviting and clean. The girl who helped us with our order was so so so sweet and looked like she had a good time surfing before her shift! There were a lot of families so definitely kid-friendly. The food was beyond delicious if there could even be better ways to describe how good it was. They had ketchup and mustard stations throughout the premise which I dabbled in for extra sauce on my hut burger, my two brothers got the jabba fries and the burgers as well and agreed they were even better than a certain popular chain, and my mom got the wedge salad which she was delighted with. They have gluten-free buns which made me feel so safe as someone with a gluten intolerance. Overall a great spot to be at and a must-try. Will definitely be back soon! read more

I appreciate cute and unexpected ambience and expresso (tequila) martini, but I wish there was at least a chicken option on the menu. Prior to visiting, I found a copy of the menu on Google review, saw chicken option and was excited to try it out. After we arrived, parked and got to the restaurant we were informed that chicken option was removed months ago. A very cool and cute hamburger stop with a lot of charm. I enjoyed the look and feel of the outside and interior. Burgers for the family and even a bar for the adults! You order via the outside window and you find a spot inside. They even have an extended back patio area so there's a lot of space. The service was fairly quick and we got our order within 10 minutes. The Double Hut was a really good classic cheesburger. The bun was nice and fluffy as well. My favorite part, was the charred/crisped texture of the smashed patties. I also didn't like the fact that you have to get 2 drinks. Why can't they just sell you one for half the price during happy hour? We waited about a good 20 mins or so for our food. I usually don't mind the wait if the food is going to come out hot and fresh. To my disappointment, the food was not hot. It seemed like it had been made and sitting there for some time before being brought out to us. Not to mention, the woman taking orders who also brought our food was quite rude. When she was taking our orders I thought she couldn't hear well because the music was loud and there were cars driving by but NO she was just being condescending and rude, that's just her normal attitude I guess. Hubs wanted to try this place for lunch while we were in Encinitas. This is located off of Coast Highway, between Leucadia Boulevard and Orpheus Avenue. More specifically, between Cadmus Street and Basil Street (right next to Basil). We were lucky that someone was leaving on Basil right when we pulled into the street, so was able to park right away. It was a Saturday in March around 1:45pm. The inside looked maybe half full?The restaurant is like a small beach house (I believe it's an actually renovated beach house), and customers order at the front window first. We ordered the single hut ($9.99), double hut ($11.99), fries ($3.99), Jabba fries ($12.99), and some fountain drinks ($2.99ea). Since it was a nice day, we decided to sit in the patio/backyard. There were a lot of people with their dogs so my kiddo and I were going crazy (ohhh howww cuuute!!). Our order took a long time though. There were people still waiting for their food when we sat down, and by the time we thought that we'd get ours, their food came out. When it finally did arrive, we were kind of disappointed. The burger was okay, patty well done and nothing out of the ordinary. The fries were waaay over-fried. That included the Jabba fries...couldn't even stab them with a fork. There was a full beef patty on top (basically a hamburger with the buns switched out for fries), but couldn't cut it with a fork since it was well done so between that and the hard fries, talk about laborious (they look okay in the pics, but they were hard). Also, the patio bathroom was out of service so I had to use the one inside, but there's only one women's and one men's, and someone was already in the women's and taking a loooooong time (seriously, this other lady and I and were waiting for 15 minutes).
