Stopped by with my family and a few friends after visiting the botanical garden down the road for a late lunch/early dinner meal. We luckily were able to find parking easily since it was an odd time that we were there. There's a small window right in front before entering that you order from. We ordered 4 burgers(2 single huts, 1 double hut, and 1 fish hut), 1 order of the Jabba fries, 1 fountain drink, and 2 draft cocktails(happy hr deal is BOGO) for almost $90. Drinks came out pretty quickly. I thought the drink was a bit too sweet for my liking. I don't remember the name but it's the one with tequila. I also didn't like the fact that you have to get 2 drinks. Why can't they just sell you one for half the price during happy hour? We waited about a good 20 mins or so for our food. I usually don't mind the wait if the food is going to come out hot and fresh. To my disappointment, the food was not hot. It seemed like it had been made and sitting there for some time before being brought out to us. Not to mention, the woman taking orders who also brought our food was quite rude. When she was taking our orders I thought she couldn't hear well because the music was loud and there were cars driving by but NO she was just being condescending and rude, that's just her normal attitude I guess. She was handing out our orders and saying the wrong things so when my husband asked where his specific order was she was snappy(when she had said his order was something else-all good people make mistakes but no need to be RUDE). Anyways, food was just mediocre at best. Fries were served COLD with a beef patty, thousand island and some grilled onions(pretty overpriced for the quality and size). The burger didn't really stand out to me. read more

So when I looked at the menu and saw people getting their food served I said out loud "soooo it's like in and out?" like a knockoff? And then I got my food and thought HOLY CRAP THIS IS AMAZING. Everything about this was right. Especially the nuggets. THESE ARE THE BEST NUGGETS IVE HAD IN MY LIFE. *read as yelling I'll be back. for nuggets, a single cheeseburger and fries. read more

Great local spot for burgers beers and fries! I love how great the service is and how kind everyone is! They also host a great trivia which is a lot of fun! The hut burger is so good! read more

Very possibly the best burger I've ever had. So good we ordered another burger after finishing the first. Vibes are great.

If you are in the Encinitas area and craving a smash burger, Hamburger Hut is a must-stop. The meat is always packed with flavor, and the toppings are consistently fresh and crisp. One of my favorite details is that they use Hawaiian roll-style bread for the buns--it adds a nice hint of sweetness that pairs perfectly with the savory beef. Don't skip the fries either; they are always fried to a perfect, golden crisp. The vibe is great, too. They have a full bar inside with a solid selection of beer and what looks like excellent mixed drinks if you're into that. I'll definitely be back! read more

Hubs wanted to try this place for lunch while we were in Encinitas. This is located off of Coast Highway, between Leucadia Boulevard and Orpheus Avenue. More specifically, between Cadmus Street and Basil Street (right next to Basil). There's no parking lot (don't park in the lot across Basil as there's a "no parking" sign, and is reserved for the residents), just limited street parking. We were lucky that someone was leaving on Basil right when we pulled into the street, so was able to park right away. It was a Saturday in March around 1:45pm. The inside looked maybe half full? The restaurant is like a small beach house (I believe it's an actually renovated beach house), and customers order at the front window first. We ordered the single hut ($9.99), double hut ($11.99), fries ($3.99), Jabba fries ($12.99), and some fountain drinks ($2.99ea). Since it was a nice day, we decided to sit in the patio/backyard. There were a lot of people with their dogs so my kiddo and I were going crazy (ohhh howww cuuute!!). Our order took a long time though. There were people still waiting for their food when we sat down, and by the time we thought that we'd get ours, their food came out. When it finally did arrive, we were kind of disappointed. The burger was okay, patty well done and nothing out of the ordinary. The fries were waaay over-fried. That included the Jabba fries...couldn't even stab them with a fork. There was a full beef patty on top (basically a hamburger with the buns switched out for fries), but couldn't cut it with a fork since it was well done so between that and the hard fries, talk about laborious (they look okay in the pics, but they were hard). Also, the patio bathroom was out of service so I had to use the one inside, but there's only one women's and one men's, and someone was already in the women's and taking a loooooong time (seriously, this other lady and I and were waiting for 15 minutes). Don't get me wrong, I'm just saying that they need more bathrooms. Hopefully, the other bathroom will be fixed up soon if not by now. All the servers were friendly, and it sounds like their food is usually better, so maybe we just came on an off day... read more

Visiting in the area and looking for a place with gluten free buns for my husband. This place is a must try local spot! You order at the outside window and they had a plain burger for a picky person like me :) and chicken nuggets! Theres plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and bathrooms. We ate outside. It seemed to take a bit longer than i was expecting but everything was hot so i know it was made fresh. My burger was fantastic and my husband loved his, said it was as close to in n out as he could get. The fries were just ok but i loved the nuggets and their lime aioli stuff! Outside there was a condiment + napkins and trash station and it looked kinda icky. Like not that clean. And all the ketchup bottles needed a refill. I honestly thought it was a employee only area until i saw someone else get mustard from there. I would absolutely return!! Parking is street mainly so it can be minimal depending read more

The burger was hot, fresh and juicy! The condiments were tasty, crisp, and fresh. The fries were perfect. The service was prompt, polite, and professional - our burgers took about 12 minutes to prepare - WORTH the wait! The ambiance was open, cool, and retro - a perfect beach setting for a great burger, fries, and a coca-cola after a long morning baking in the sun and swimming in the ocean. Literally a perfect experience - I'll be back on every trip I make to Carlsbad, Oceanside, and Encinitas. Great job to the crew and the cooks today - a job WELL Done! read more

I need to preface by saying, I LOVE this place, I love the vibes, Hamburger Hut is a must! I've been here many times. However tonight, we went with our friends who are not from the area. They have two kids under the age of 3. And at 6pm this place did not feel family welcoming with how loud the music was. The loud music plus dim lighting was incredibly overstimulating and didn't feel like a place we should be with kids. Felt more like a club/bar. We could hardly have a conversation. That is my only complaint for a weekend night visit. I have never been disappointed with Hamburger Hut otherwise. Love this place! read more

Hurray for Hamburger Hut. It's a simple place that only has a few things on the menu but has a full bar. You either approach the outside window and order, then find a seat or sit at the bar. They also have a nice outdoor patio which would be fun in warmer weather. My husband ordered the double and I ordered the plain. My burger was only $6.99. That's almost as cheap as a fast food burger but way better. It tasted exactly what I was hoping for. And the fries are skinny which is the way I prefer them. Great service and the turnaround was very quick. Very interesting cocktail selections too. Definitely will be back. read more

First time here, decided to try them over one of the bigger chain burger places and was pleasantly surprised. I got a double hut burger, which says it's 2 x 1/3 patties. It didn't quite seem that big, but they weren't small either, and very good otherwise. I also got a fry, which were good, better than most, but I have personal issue with the rising cost of french fries - but I digress. I took mine to togo, but place is actually really cool inside, with plenty of seating including a full service bar. The staff was also very friendly, making conversation and offering a drink while I waited. I will be back to eat there, and I have a feeling I might be upgrading my review to 5 stars after doing so. read more

Friend recommended so we tried. Arrived just before Happy Hour crowd. Order at counter open window outside, they give you a number and deliver to your table. Chillaxed beachy vibe, fun people watching. Burgers were smashed and juicy, also enjoyed shared order of fries (big serving). Good experience, we'll be back. read more

Kid approved. Adult approved. Burgers, bar, Pac-Man, what more can you ask from a place?!? This place was slammin' on a Sunday. It was the place TO BE with the fam. We luckily got a table rather quickly after ordering at the counter. Menu was simple. The one thing I was I saw that was listed on the white board was the chicken nuggets that my 4 year old was asking for, luckily the cheeseburger paid off well for them. Great cocktail list to choose from. Burgers were smashed in between the sweetness of a Hawaiian bun. I almost wished I got a double burger after I was done. Looking forward to making this a regular spot of ours! read more

I was surprised at how good the food is here. The double Hut burger had two perfectly cooked smash patties and just the right amount of sauce, onion, tomato and lettuce. The fries were also quite tasty. I wish their iced tea was as good as the food. It comes from the soda fountain and fresh brewed would be much better. The music volume in the dining room was a little loud, but hey, when the weather is nice you can dine outside in the patio area. read more

Our first visit to Hamburger Hut and it exceeded our expectations! We rode our bicycles and there was plenty of bike racks. I loved ordering outside. Host was very friendly. I live locally and have been coming here for six months. Took a month away, came back, and it's like a totally different (and worse) place. Whole staff changed. Zero consistency. Brought two close friends here for a quick burger. It took 55 minutes--yes, nearly an hour--for one burger to come out while I was sitting at the bar. Re-f*cking-diculous. To make it worse, they've killed the beer taps. No more draft beer. What even is this place anymore? There were maybe 40 people in the whole restaurant--it's not like it was slammed. I've met the owner before--good guy, seemed solid--but whatever is happening now is an absolute zoo fest. Totally lost me. When I asked the bartender why it's taking so long he said "bro it's a Sunday, it needs time" what a joke. read more

New spot for us. Great bar space for a happy hour maybe. Fun vibe, nice easy service. Went basic burger and guess what???? The tomatoes were red and juicy. Off the grill burger was hot and delish and the bun worthy of another visit. Maybe a Hawaiian bun? Fries huge and crispy (i would ask for a side of 1000 island to dip.) All in all a really nice experience. Go back again soon! read more

The service was terrible. We ordered for a large group and it took over 1 hour. While we waited we realized one person from our group did not order their food. We went to the front to order one more burger to add to the order and they refused to try and help. They would not add the one additional burger to our current order. We had to order a separate order for this one extra burger. After waiting 1 hour Everyone else got their food except for the one guest which "ordered after" everyone else. we waited an additional 45 minutes for her food to be come but it wasn't ready. After waiting long enough, everyone had enough so we just left. We asked for a refund for the one burger after having spent over 400 dollars on all of the other food but were met with strong resistance. We tried to discuss our situation with the manager, but she was no help. We spent over 400 dollars that night and we wanted a refund for a burger that was 12 dollars. It wasn't even about the 12 dollars at that point. We come to this place frequently, approximately 3-4 times a month. We will no longer come back to this place and will tell all of our friends not to go either. There are plenty of burger places in north county with food just as good or better BUT with much better service and accommodation. read more

Really like their burgers. But, a little worried about their business acumen. If you call their phone you get a recording saying they are closed M, T and Wednesday. NOT CORRECT. Visited HH for burgers on a Saturday afternoon for burgers. First time eating at HH. The space is smaller with both high tables closer to the bar/counter, longer tables for families and stools with high tables in the actual dining room. The service was fast and efficient. It can get a bit loud with the larger parties- so be aware. Surprisingly, not too loud overall. THE FOOD: the burgers were delicious! I ordered the single hut with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles. It's served on a Hawaiian bun making it extra yummy. Delicious burger with the perfect thin, smashed, charred patty. My goodness!! Can we make the Single Hut Burger at Hamburger Hut the standard for a good American cheeseburger?! Move over In and Out, Shack burger and all other small burgers of America. Not so sure about this place-- I'm pretty positive we came on an off day. Got here within the hour of opening and sooooooo hungryyyyy. The bartenders have a very Cheers in the modern age kind of vegan vibe. This is Encinitas-- it's a lifestyle choice not a diet- duh. Big ol' letters of cocktail in red on white background written by the side and hamburgers on the front. Great beer on tap selections and perfect setup for a smooth and echoable hammered before noon. The food does seem to take a while to come but it's highly possible they just were unexpectedly short staffed that day. There's different 'lifestyle' choices for any kind of eater. Got to try their spinach salad with beet spirals-- solid salad with plentiful topping and dressing. Nothing to build a shrine over but good enough for the clean plate club. And if you're a chub-tub of lard like me you'd love the loaded fries. Like animal style but I feel better with the impossible patty. The fries are a cross between in n out and Mac Donald's. Thin and long but crispy and straight. Very solid burger and beer joint. If I rode a Harley and had a girl on the back of my bike rocking her weathered tooth-- this is totally my kind of hut. There's also a pac-man machine!! Talk about fun I want to spend without anyone around. Nerd out with my cork off. Overall-- we had a ton of fun here and two bathrooms available-- outdoor seating- covered and uncovered. Plenty of dog owners and lovers. Good amount of parking in by the side of the building. read more

Loved loved loved this place! First and foremost you're greeted by Sheryl the most genuine kind soul. My wife and I had singles added chopped chilies, 10/10 the burger was so flavorful, you could tasted every ingredient. Best burger joint in town. The burgers are great but also a lot of their other menu items are fantastic as well. Their chicken nuggets are like a better version of the McNugget, really yummy. The inside seating has a lot of atmosphere and totally on brand, if that matters. Outside, there's a lot of seating and space for kids to run around. Everyone I've interacted with who works there is super friendly too. Side note: I also really love reading ridiculous one star reviews and there's some gems on this page. The stand out to me is one person saying their Kids prefer McDonalds hamburgers over this place ... like that's an insult. Of course they do, they're children! I can make the most delicious homemade 3 cheese macaroni and cheese at home with buttery crispy bits on top and my kids will still want Kraft Macaroni and cheese all day every day ... because they're children. Or the people complaining about the fish sandwich they ordered the very first time they came here and leaving a one star review? No offense to the fish sandwich but who goes to a burger joint and for their first order ever gets the fish sandwich? Or the woman complaining that her wrap was so saucy that she was spilling it on her dress. Don't you know how to eat food over a table like an average person? read more

Had lunch here last Friday. Parking was easy since it was a bit after 1pm. Ordering was quick, food delivery was quick. The Roadhouse Rickey was absolutely delicious. Will order again. Burger was solid, hit the spot. Fries were on the lukewarm side of things but still tasted good. The chili ranch was a bit less flavorful than I expected, but still way better than plain ketchup in my opinion. It was a tad chilly in the restaurant which makes sense given the windows/doos were open and it was a tad chilly and breezy outside. There were some elementary school aged kids being annoying while their parents didn't give a rip so that was fun. That's nothing to do with the restaurant and everything to do with the parents. This was my second time here, will be back. read more

Dope spot. We were surprised this burger spot service cocktails and pretty good cocktails I might add. My wife and I stumbled across this spot just walking on coast highway 101. From a distance you could see the smoke coming out of the chimney from cooking burgers. To me, that's like a mosquito following the dazzling light. We followed the "light" and it was well worth it! The spot is deceivingly bigger than it looks from the outside. The bartenders were super chill and made us cocktails based on our taste buds. At last call we ordered a burger and fries and they were pretty good. I enjoyed the burger most. I'm a sucker for burgers and cocktails so next time we're in town, we'll be stopping by again. Awful and extremely disappointing experience during the Christmas holiday. We came in as a group of about 20 people and spent over $400. One person's order was missed due to a mistake on our side, which we fully acknowledged. We placed the additional order, but the manager, Sheryl, handled the situation in an unprofessional, rude, and dismissive manner. Sheryl insisted the added order would take another 45 minutes with absolutely no flexibility. We even offered to pay $50 extra to have it expedited, and she refused. Later, when our small kids were tired and we politely asked if the order could be rushed, Sheryl shrugged and told us to "wait like everyone else," showing no empathy or basic professionalism. We ultimately decided to leave. The order had not been started, yet Sheryl refused to issue a refund, despite our large overall spend! I will note that the bartender and a tall male server were genuinely kind and tried to help, but were clearly limited because of their manager. Kind staff held back by toxic management. We understood the initial mistake was ours. What was unacceptable was Sheryl's rude attitude, poor customer service, and refusal to reasonably resolve the situation. How a manager handles issues defines the experience--and this one was handled terribly. read more
