However, my reason for coming here was not for that it was for the food. I ordered the Egusi Stew and Fufu. The entire order was INEDIBLE. I knew something was wrong when I got the order into the car and there was no aroma. Nothing! Then the stew just looked wrong it was thick but watery. But I wanted to give them a chance so I drove home, made a plate and started to eat. Even at home there was no aroma which I found odd. I dove in and there it was. Watery stew with no taste and bland meat that was too tuff to eat. The fufu left a horrible taste in my mouth as if it was old or made out of boxed mashed potatoes. I took three bites. One to try. A second because I know it can't be this bad and the third because I had to make sure it was as bad as I thought. The meal cost me $30 dollars. Yeah, they got me! But Never Again! If it wasn't for the kind smiles from the lady and gentleman at the register I would have given this place a 0

Two Hommés is truly an absolute gem in Inglewood and I highly recommend coming here because of how they've blended West African, Mexican, West Asian, and American ingredients & flavours - the food is a lovely mix of feeling light & fresh, paired with more meaty (but not dense) options, and overall very delicous. Pro-tip: Make a reservation online through Resy - this restuarant qualifies for AmEx's Resy credit! Layout & seating: The front-door faces the main streetThere are high tables, bar seating, and low tables throughout the area. I haven't used their bathroom, so I can't speak to that. Parking: There's a free, public parking lot in the back that's shared with the school, so be mindful that you're not parking in designated spots during school hours. Other times, e.g., weekends, it's fair game. It thankfully has never been packed, so I have been able to grab a spot for myself. Accessibility: The door is a little heavy, but there are no steps to get inside from the street, so that's good. The inside can feel a little cramped. Ambiance: During the late afternoon, the sunlight filters and the entire dining area feels nice but not too bright. Service: Very prompt and attentive; friendly staff. What I've tried: Pre-Summer menu 1. Duck Dibi Ssam: Senegalese smoked lamb shoulder, bib lettuce, green Shito, pickle, and suya peanuts; $52 I love the combination of Senegalese and Korean dishes here to create this juicy duck dish. I do wish there was more Shito because the amount you get is not enough for the entire plate and extras have a cost. 2. Jollof Platter: Ghanaian jollof, bomb azz black beans, plaintains, arugula salad; sauces: Scallion, BBQ jerk, cilantro-lime cream; added on root beer braised short rib; $28 + 22 (protein add-on) Absolutley tender, fall-off-the-bone short rib in a rich mole-like root beer sauce. The jollof was well cooked - definitely parboiled before cooked off at the end with the seasoning & spices, and nicely smoked. The beans were simple, but I do remember tasting the bay leaves and seasoning. The plantains were soooo well cooked; crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside. Summer menu 1. Suya Mushrooms and Greens: Oyster mushroom, snap peas, peanuts; $15 Absolutely scrumptious mix of suya, fresh & crunchy snap peas, and just smokey enough. I cannot stress how much everyone must try this dish, if nothing else on the menu. 2. This is, A Tasty Burger: Short rib, caramelised onions, pickles, cheddar, Gold-Coast BBQ sauce, fries; $23 Not heavy, but very filling and juicy; loved the BBQ sauce - I think there was mustard in there? Either way, the flavours were so "simple" yet flavourful. The meat felt "light", if that makes sense. 3. Lamb + White Bean Hummus: Flatbread, yassa onions, (ground) lamb bits; $21 The hummus felt very traditional Palestinian/Syrian and the ground lamb was delicious. The flatbread was reminiscent of the flatbreads from the Levant, Khubz Arabi or a type of pita - soft, pillowy, and perfect for hummus. 4. Smashed potatoes: Labneh, Lula Mae's chilli oil, fried rosemary; $15 This feels like their version of Batata Harra and it was nice; loved the fried rosemary and garlic - so crunchy and flavourful. Really rich & tangy labneh - I wonder if it's homemade or from a Lebanese store? 5. Drinks: Hommémade lemonade (jamaica) and Mocktail of the week Love the (spicy pineapple) Both drinks were well-made - a little tart, a litle sweet, and well mixed. My absolute favourite items have been the duck and the Suya Mushrooms and Greens; I cannot wait to go back and order more of the latter and try out the Big Fish, and finally try the desserts! My only issue is the noise; there's a TV that's on in the background, music playing overhead, and rather close seating to the next party (to the point that you can hear what they're saying rather clearly). Having a conversation is very difficult with all these competing sounds. Note: There is a time limit for parties of 4 or larger of 1.5 hours, so please be mindful as Two Hommés gets busy from opening to close.

My friends…read moreand I ordered some typical dishes, including jollof rice with goat, fufu with light soup, and red red (fried plantains and beans). It took a while to get our food, but as the dishes were cooked to order, we didn't mind. The verdict: -- Jollof rice with goat: the goat was decently tender and the jollof rice was nice and chewy, with a spicy kick to it! The more you eat it, the more the heat builds. -- Fufu with light soup: it was my first time trying fufu, and I liked it! Sort of reminded me of a "chewier" mashed potato, and it was a great vessel to dip into the light soup. The light soup was flavorful, but SPICY; it was definitely not light! Chicken inside was tasty and fall-off-the-bone tender. -- Red red: the least-spiciest dish of the trio, and while I enjoyed the crispy, fried, and sweet plantains, the beans were okay, but it wasn't to my taste. Not bad, but not my favorite. Overall, a nice taste of Ghanaian food at Airport Royal Cuisine. Service was nice and courteous. Ghanaian cuisine is certainly flavorful, but beware the spice!!

The Pepper soup was absolutely delicious-- so flavorful, spicy and the goat was tender. And it was a nice portion. The pounded yam was nice--it was like a mashed potato ball, smooth and the perfect neutral canvas for the soup. Next, the Jollof rice with the fish--very tasty, and a generous serving of rice that lasted me up to 3 days and by day 3 the rice was even better (I made chicken to go with it). I truly enjoyed my meal and rated it "I love it!" The funny thing is, I apparently ordered from them a year or so before and didn't have a good food experience so I didn't rate them well--I completely forgot and only realized it when my old bad DD review popped up after I posted my new good one . But everyone deserves another chance and they hit it out the park with that meal. So much so that I ordered from them again the following week and tried the Fufu combo with the mixed meat (cow leg, beef and tripe--I had always seen tripe but never had it) Egusi and the Eba. It was well prepared but the flavor was interesting to me--there were notes of bitterness (from the bitter leaf I presume or maybe the melon seeds?) and the Eba was a bit sour, like Ethiopian injera but stronger in my opinion. I really wanted to like it -- I even tried adding salt -- but I think maybe it's an acquired taste for my personal palate. The beef was a bit tough and the what I think was the cow leg skin was thick, tough and chewy. I've had Jamaican cow foot soup before and the skin was tender so not sure if it's just a different kind of cooking or what ‍. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't my cup of tea but maybe for someone else it's perfect. I'm only sharing my experience for someone who may have never had it and like me was curious, so this is my opinion on it (after all, Yelp is all about the word of mouth). But nothing ventured, nothing gained. Still, I want to try the other items and will always come back to that pepper soup and rice combo! UPDATE on 3/2/26 -- After my review I then got a taste for jollof again. So Yesterday I ordered the Edikanikong too and it was truly delicious!!! So flavorful and fresh! These are some of the best greens I've had! And that's it. Honestly because I ordered from DD so much I mostly do my reviews now there vs here on Yelp, but I felt compelled to share my experience on this spot on this platform too. FYI - I deleted my food photos that I uploaded to DD so I have none to share here.

That meant a lot and shows he does care about his customers. The owner gets 5 stars. The customer service staff and delivery experience gets 1 star. Today I was able to make the near impossible happen and we got to the market before it got busy (around 10am). I ordered the goat stew whereas my partner (who is Filipino) just wanted to check out their food. As such he got the salmon. The goat stew reminded me of a flavorful and creamy, Indian curry and the meat was very tender. The owner said to be careful of bones but I encountered none. Meanwhile the salmon was well cooked, soft and not dry. The sauce itself had a pleasing sourness to it but the hot sauce on the side really kicked up the flavor. It reminded us of a creamy Tabasco with a myriad of other flavors like garlic and onions. Ironically, the salmon had bones. The side salad was sweet in a good way with quartered grapes providing the main sweetness. The rice had a nice flavor profile rich with tomato--it reminded us of a cross between a creole rice and Spanish rice... but also not? We don't quite know how to describe it but it was good. If I'm ever able to get my partner up early again on a Sunday, we'll be sure to go back! I hope they eventually open a brick and mortar store. Tip: Buy a bottle of the hot sauce if you remotely like hot sauce. If you buy online, the shipping alone is the cost of buying a bottle in person.

No menu? This was…read morethe first stop in our Non-Ethiopian-African-Adventure of last weekend. We'd enjoyed Ngoma on Wilshire and had been looking around for some new non-Ethiopian African choices when we happened upon an article that mentioned some Nigerian restaurants in Inglewood. Bamboo Cafe is a bit of a drive over highway and land streets. It's located near the racetrack. We were curious as to what to expect, as we'd called a couple of times and been told: "Yes, we're open until ___, but we're closing early because I'm going to the store." When we walked in, the place was practically empty on a Friday night and the kitchen seemed closed. "Hi," I said. "Are you guys open?" "Oh yes!" said the owner, very friendly. "Do you have a menu?" "Oh no!" he laughed in a jolly way. (We were later to find out there *was* a menu. I guess it was some sort of off-night?) "I can cook you up some goat with rice." "How much?" "Oh, say $10." Hm. Okay. The dish that came, accompanied by spiced spinach, was very good, and quite SPICY. (In a nose-running, teary-eyed way.) But very tasty. He said: "A few people are out of town." I said: "Do you normally have a menu, or is it always like this?" "Hold on!" he said, and then left the building. (We still don't understand where he went.) He returned with a very nice postcard that said "Bamboo Cafe" with a full menu. (Why did he have to leave the building to find this is yet another mystery.) Aaanyway, the food was good. The decor -- dusty old plastic flowers and an interior that seemed more like someone's bare little living room -- was charming and cozy. If you want a glossy, Hollywood / Silver Lake style hipster place, DON'T go here. If you want an interesting, friendly, authentic little African vibe, definitely go!
