Good things: the server explained everything thoroughly, and let us know that traditionally, the meat is not as tender as meat we may be accustomed to. The portions are large enough for 2 people to share. The jollof rice with chicken was the favorite. We were a part of four, and one person loved the fufu. The just okay: We all agreed that the plantains were extremely dry and didn't taste fresh. This could be because I'm used to Cuban-style plantains that are softer, less dry, and often syrupy sweet. We didn't finish the plantains or the puff puff, which are like little donuts but lacked sweetness and were pretty dense and dry. Maybe this is typical, though. We ordered one meat pie. It was also a bit dry but it was flavorful and I used some of the sauce from the chicken to give the crust some moisture. There were mixed reviews in the egusi (we got one with beef and one with chicken,) but the consensus was that the chicken was much better and strangely, the egusi's flavor was much different in each dish although only the proteins were different. The egusi with beef was by far not the favorite. Again, I know there are many styles of African food and I am far from a connoisseur, so what we had might be usual Nigerian flavors and textures. We tried this place because of the good reviews, and I'm glad we did, but I'm curious to try other types of African cuisine.

This was my first time trying Nigerian food and I'd say it is definitely worth the hype. The parking is free, but small; however we went when it wasn't as busy so parking was easy to find. We were welcomed and seated quickly. Our server (unfortunately we didn't get any names) explained each dish and made recommendations. Since it was my first time, it was recommended for me to get the Egusi and Jollaf Rice. My friend and I both ordered Egusi with Chicken and it comes with Fufu (pounded yam). Two bowls of water were given for us to rinse our hands (since we chose to eat with our hands and not utensils), quickly after, freshly hot Fufu and Egusi came out. The servers were very attentive and friendly. The fufu tasted like a sticky (or gummy? but not in a bad way) mashed potato. The Egusi was delicious! Chicken was cooked to perfection. I'm unsure how to describe the Egusi, but I couldn't stop eating it. Ms. Veronica came out to greet the guests when it got a little busier and we had a conversation with her. I absolutely recommend dining at Veronica's Kitchen. The staff is extremely kind and the food is delicious. I definitely plan to make the drive to try more menu items!

MY MANNNN Veronica is DA BOMB. I was SO surprised at how DELICIOUS this is. This is my first time eating Nigerian food and it is SO FLAVORFUL. This is definitely worth a try if you're feeling adventurous. I wish I lived closer to here, I would be coming here WEEKLY to try all their dishes. Great price. Amazing food. 100/100 experience.

We came last night to grab some dinner. I was excited to try this place since I keep hearing about egusi and fufu and this was one of the few west African restaurants in the area. To start the entrance door was so hard to open lol everyone struggled and tried to other door. They definitely need to get that door fixed. We both ended up getting the egusi with fufu but I got mine with goat and my friend got his with beef. While it was tasty and super flavorful, I'm not sure what all the hype is with egusi hahaha I mean it's good but I'm not sure if I will crave it again. The fufu was also an interesting texture but flavorless so you definitely need the flavor of the stew to add to it.

First time trying it, and I fell in love with this dish. They have the best red stew and plantain, hands down. The Jollof Rice stole the show, as it was the main event and my personal favorite. I will definitely be going back.

After seeing fufu and egusi soup go viral on tiktok I just HAD to try it for myself to see if it was worth the hype and it very much was. The fufu was very sticky and chewy like how I expected it to be. The taste was potato-y since it is made of yams which compliments the egusi soup's slight kick. I got it with beef that I did have to smyself. The jallof rice was not mushy and leaned more towards a dense grain. It had a nice spicy kick to it which paired really well with the red stew which I got with chicken.

Delicious, Generous Portions - Take It To-Go and Thank the Chef! My wife and I tried the Egusi soup and Okra-Ogbono soup (both without meat), and we were blown away. Each soup came with a serving of Fufu (pounded yam), and we ordered three extras--but we definitely didn't need that much. The portions are huge. Each soup came in a large to-go container, and we only managed to eat about a third of each. At $20 per soup (even without meat), it's absolutely worth the price for the quantity and quality. The flavor was outstanding--spicy, rich, and full of depth, even without any meat. We brought the food home, and over an hour later it was still steaming hot. The Fufu was soft, moist, and perfect. No need to reheat. Just a heads-up: both soups come spicy, so be ready for some heat! The highlight of our visit, aside from the food, was the older woman who seemed to be in charge of the kitchen--she might even be the owner. She was incredibly warm, helped us order, and genuinely made us feel welcome. She even asked us to come back if we enjoyed the food. Her kindness left a lasting impression. That said, the front-of-house service could use some work. The cashier was slow, nearly overcharged us, and forgot we had already paid. It was a bit of a mess, even with three people running the front. But the food and the kindness from the back of the house more than made up for it. If you're trying this for the first time, I recommend taking it to-go and enjoying it in the comfort of your home. We'll definitely be coming back--because the food and that sweet lady made it worth it.

This food is amazing!!!!! Had never tried African food before and this blew my mind. It's a small hole in the wall but from what I can tell they own the whole building? They do take quite some time getting the food ready so just keep that in mind and either order way ahead of time or just prepare to wait. The egusi with fufu and jollof was everything I needed on a cold Saturday morning. I definitely plan on coming back!

I've tried their food at a friend's house several times before but this was my first time eating at the restaurant. The staff is so friendly and the food is delicious! We had red stew with goat, okra ogbono with goat, jollof rice with plantains, fufu, moi moi, and beef suya. I enjoyed everything but the suya was my favorite! I also tried Vitamalt for the first time and was surprised with how much I liked it as I don't usually enjoy malt beverages.

The Pepper soup was absolutely delicious-- so flavorful, spicy and the goat was tender. And it was a nice portion. The pounded yam was nice--it was like a mashed potato ball, smooth and the perfect neutral canvas for the soup. Next, the Jollof rice with the fish--very tasty, and a generous serving of rice that lasted me up to 3 days and by day 3 the rice was even better (I made chicken to go with it). I truly enjoyed my meal and rated it "I love it!" The funny thing is, I apparently ordered from them a year or so before and didn't have a good food experience so I didn't rate them well--I completely forgot and only realized it when my old bad DD review popped up after I posted my new good one . But everyone deserves another chance and they hit it out the park with that meal. So much so that I ordered from them again the following week and tried the Fufu combo with the mixed meat (cow leg, beef and tripe--I had always seen tripe but never had it) Egusi and the Eba. It was well prepared but the flavor was interesting to me--there were notes of bitterness (from the bitter leaf I presume or maybe the melon seeds?) and the Eba was a bit sour, like Ethiopian injera but stronger in my opinion. I really wanted to like it -- I even tried adding salt -- but I think maybe it's an acquired taste for my personal palate. The beef was a bit tough and the what I think was the cow leg skin was thick, tough and chewy. I've had Jamaican cow foot soup before and the skin was tender so not sure if it's just a different kind of cooking or what ‍. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't my cup of tea but maybe for someone else it's perfect. I'm only sharing my experience for someone who may have never had it and like me was curious, so this is my opinion on it (after all, Yelp is all about the word of mouth). But nothing ventured, nothing gained. Still, I want to try the other items and will always come back to that pepper soup and rice combo! UPDATE on 3/2/26 -- After my review I then got a taste for jollof again. So Yesterday I ordered the Edikanikong too and it was truly delicious!!! So flavorful and fresh! These are some of the best greens I've had! And that's it. Honestly because I ordered from DD so much I mostly do my reviews now there vs here on Yelp, but I felt compelled to share my experience on this spot on this platform too. FYI - I deleted my food photos that I uploaded to DD so I have none to share here.
