I placed a pickup order from their website, for a white rice combo with Goat, and a coconut rice with chicken. Turns out, they were out of both goat and coconut rice. I found out when they gave me only one dish - white rice with beef. Along with a handwritten note that said "sorry no goat meat or coconut rice, prepare with beef, once again, so sorry." They didn't offer a refund or anything. I paid for 2 dishes, but only received one, and it wasn't what I had wanted. They should have just cancelled my order and sent me a full refund. Otherwise this was just a scam!

Ok, so the food wasn't bad I got Egusi Soup and Pounded Yam and Stew with white rice and Plantain and yeah it wasn't bad ... but the customer service was some of the worse I ever experienced the guy at the counter was rude and didn't give me the correct change I got to the car and realized he didn't give me the correct change and went back inside I said excuse me this isn't the correct change he looks at the receipt and with much of an attitude and opens the register and gives me a very nasty look and starts taking money out of the register and counting he still gave me incorrect change SMH ... not sure if I will return at least not to this location

I enjoyed my jollop rice and fish is waa very flavorful. Aa far as my daughter dishThe coconut rice and chicken wasn't as flavorful it seemed as it was just ketchup spread on dish

I had chicken Egusi Stew twice and the first time I made it myself. And the one I made was way better. This shit had no flavor to it at all. I couldn't even finish it. You literally could not taste any seasoning. I am highly disappointed. I learned about this place on Door Dash. No bueno!

Authentic spot with Nigerian cuisine. Came here for dinner on a Wednesday evening around 7pm and there seemed to be a steady inflow of customers, but never a line. The food is pre-prepared. Delivery/takeout is available. There's a private parking lot in front as well as street parking. Credit cards are accepted. They don't have tap water so you'll need to buy bottled water. I got the jollof rice combo with chicken (your choice of soft or hard meat, which I wasn't able to clarify since only soft meat was available at that time). The worker helping me asked if I wanted some sauce in the rice, and I think that was a good call otherwise the rice would've been too dry. The combo came with two pieces of chicken. The food was a bit old but I still enjoyed the rice with stew mixed in.

I was scrolling through DoorDash hungry during lunchtime and saw this place being featured! I decided to try out their food and order! It was my first time trying fufu with egusi and it was so flavorful and paired well together. What I ordered: -Fufu and egusi soup with trip and beef -Fried plantains

The Vegetable mix meat with fufu was super delicious at this hidden gem Nigerian restaurant on lincoln. DIno had a great presentation and helped with the menu.Highly recommend this for authentic Nigerian food #NigerianCuisine #MarinaDelRey #AfricanSoulFood#Restaurants@SumptuousAfrican

I am so excited to try this place as I've only heard good things about it. Was in LA today on business so this made sense. First I tasted the Fried Rice. I could taste the Curry in the rice and then instant Flavor Bomb. Jolif Rice was also very taste as I order a Side for later. I had a Beef Patty that looks very similar to a Jamaican Patty. It was very flavorful and not Spicy as you might think. But still very good. They are also Handmade. Best part was the Egusi Soup. Rich, flavorful and cooked to order. I would drive from Orange County to LA for this any day. I'll definitely be back. Yallhollatchaboy

Ask the Community - Sumptuous African Restaurant

When did the Marina Del Rey restaurant open?

Hello Karen, Our Marina Del Rey location was open last year December 2022

Is this the same one on Atlantic in Long Beach?

I don't know if they are owned by the same person. They look to be the same, however the food is NOT! The Inglewood location is a lot better. Good customer service at both locations

Are there vegan options? If so, what are they?

I actually never saw that many seagulls in the city side. Parking is at Ralphs though I'm unsure if you could park there or not. There is a sign for parking for Ralphs only and several parkings are for teachers. Service and food are amazing though. The restaurant is very clean. The bathroom sink has the most narrow faucet ever. The faucet is 1 in above the sink so I don't know how people wash their hands. These are what we ordered 1 Plantain + Crab $20.00 - 3/5. I fried plantain is good with the little bit of crabs on the side. Dish is creative but overall not extraordinary. 1 Root Beer Braised Short Rib - $44.00 5/5 this is the most delicious and my favorite dish. The mashed potato is so creamy and beef is so soft. It is the most creamy and buttery mashed potato I've ever had. 1 Jollof Platter $28.00 + Berbere Shrimp $12.00 - 4/5. The spicy rice dish has enough moisture and dryness. The shrimp was grilled in creme sauce. 1 Garlic Noodle $22.00 2/5. It tastes like soy sauce noodles because I couldn't really taste the garlic part of it. 1 Plantain Sticky Cake $15.00 5/5 toffee pudding style and is amazing. Moist and creamy. Overall I would definitely come back. Service is outstanding and water is filled with bottle and we could constantly refill it.

You have to try the Egusi stew with chicken! Egusi Stew is made up of diced spinach and pumpkin & It's so good that even if you don't eat meat you can have it without and it still tastes bomb! Next dish is not a full meal but it's their Kelewele (Nuts and spicy seasoned plantain) Delicious! I prefer this over their regular plantains and trust me you would too once you had it with the seasoned spice! Staff was Nice. Ambiance is cool and casual

My friends…read moreand I ordered some typical dishes, including jollof rice with goat, fufu with light soup, and red red (fried plantains and beans). It took a while to get our food, but as the dishes were cooked to order, we didn't mind. The verdict: -- Jollof rice with goat: the goat was decently tender and the jollof rice was nice and chewy, with a spicy kick to it! The more you eat it, the more the heat builds. -- Fufu with light soup: it was my first time trying fufu, and I liked it! Sort of reminded me of a "chewier" mashed potato, and it was a great vessel to dip into the light soup. The light soup was flavorful, but SPICY; it was definitely not light! Chicken inside was tasty and fall-off-the-bone tender. -- Red red: the least-spiciest dish of the trio, and while I enjoyed the crispy, fried, and sweet plantains, the beans were okay, but it wasn't to my taste. Not bad, but not my favorite. Overall, a nice taste of Ghanaian food at Airport Royal Cuisine. Service was nice and courteous. Ghanaian cuisine is certainly flavorful, but beware the spice!!
