Their Jollof meal with tomato & spicy rice from Ghana & Nigeria with Chicken or Fish is too spicy for me, but my husband loves it and he loves the fish. They also have Thieb rice which is a must try. It is a traditional Senegales rice. You also might enjoy their Jollof rice which is traditional Ghaneans and Nigerian rice. Add grilled chicken to any rice item and you will have a great meal. It was all incredibly, intensely flavorful. This isn't bland stuff! The sauce had a nice low-level heat that kept your belly warm while eating. I want to have a bottle of this sauce at home and put it on everything! I have never tried West African dishes before so I have no set idea of what it's supposed to taste like. Everything was mushy. the meats were a messy smelly bunch of mush, the chicken and the beef alike. Compared to the meat inside the pastels I receive these were on the disgusting. The rice smelled bad. it was already going bad. everything was overcooked (probably because it was reheated many times). I was extremely disappointed since I usually order food to eat for a couple of days. it costs me. You are a restaurant. It tasted very bland to me. Not sure if I ate it wrong or if it was authentic African food made by a Latino cook. Not sure but I was sorely disappointed with that flavor. I asked my boyfriend to switch with me as he got the Java rice meal and THAT was so delicious. Seasoned perfectly and the rice texture was fire. Extremely disappointed in this resturant. As a fellow African/ Ghanaian, I was extremely excited to see an african resturant near me. I ordered the jallof rice with chicken. The food came out within 5mins( big red flag). The rice tasted nothing like jallof rice. Instead tasted like traders joes version from a few years back. The price of the meal was expensive, and didn't match the price. Usually I try to promote african food/ restaurants, but was extremely disappointed with the food here. The best food that I've ever had in my life is from a Senegalese restaurant in Chicago. I've been searching for something similar here in LA and I am sooo glad WEAF came across my FYP. I came at 7pm on a Monday night with my family and we were met with amazing service. I ordered the Thieb chicken plate and it was delicious! My daughter who is a picky eater ate all of hers and wanted mine too. The plantains and the pastels were really good too. The meal I got today was extremely bland and the quarter chicken was significantly smaller than when I originally ate this meal. When I got it before there was a Hispanic cook who I think did a better job at cooking the chicken and even rice than what I received today. I'm disappointed that not only the food lacked any taste but also the chicken was maybe half the size it was originally when I had this meal on two other occasions. Very difficult for them to fix an incorrect order. I tried explaining that the order wasn't correct so I didn't eat any of it. I tried to return it so it could be remade. The employee refused. We argued for about 5 minutes eventually he said "I'm trying to be nice" I didn't care if he was nice or not, I just wanted the meal I paid for. I called the number online multiple times. I was informed that the owner was in France and the only way the order could be corrected is if I spoke to him. Something told me to try texting the number... the owner responds immediately. He doesn't text back he just calls me and asks what's happening, I explained, he then asked to speak to the employee, it was a short 2 minute convo on my cellphone and guess what happens? The employee was forced to fix his mistake. Why not just remake the dish when I complained? I didn't eat any of it. I haven't been back since. What a shame. read more
