Aside from the semi-uninviting name, Weaf was tolerable for one of my first African cuisine experiences that has survived post-Covid. I ordered the chicken with Jollof rice, and the empenades. The chicken was juicy in some places, but also tough on others. The spicy aus jus was delicious, but I needed definitely more than provided. The famous jollif rice while seasoned , was over cooked . Empenadas we're just okay. Very dry. Insides too.

Wow ok so I've never had African food really so I decided to stop and try something small. I asked for the Beef Pastel but they only had tuna or veggies. The cook offered to make me fresh ones and I cannot tell you how bomb this is. Meat inside is juicy and the fried outside was crispy. Now this was hot off the press so yours may not be this good but maybe try to ask for them fresh? Didn't try anything else.

Great food and big portions. Came with my Nigerian friend and he approved. Would recommend if you are looking for authentic West African food!

The guy who prepared the food was very friendly and we had some freshly fried plantains. It came with a small side of spicy sauce. So yummy! Then I tried the jollof rice and chicken. It was all incredibly, intensely flavorful. This isn't bland stuff! The sauce had a nice low-level heat that kept your belly warm while eating. I want to have a bottle of this sauce at home and put it on everything! I have never tried West African dishes before so I have no set idea of what it's supposed to taste like. But I did like everything I ate. Portions are decent but priced a little high. However, most places are getting pricey due to inflation so you can only do so much about it.

Authentic West African food!! The sauce and plantains were stand out! I thought the chicken was great, the rice was not stand out but overall definitely worth checking out if you want healthy, west African food!

I had been wanting to try African food for months due to a certain tik tok trend... the fufu with eggusi was my main target. The area it's located at is a bit lonely and the restaurant was small but they do have a foldable table placed outside and that's where we sat(boyfriend and I). I have to admit.. the taste of the fufu with eggusi was not what I was expecting. It tasted very bland to me. Not sure if I ate it wrong or if it was authentic African food made by a Latino cook. Not sure but I was sorely disappointed with that flavor. I asked my boyfriend to switch with me as he got the Java rice meal and THAT was so delicious. Seasoned perfectly and the rice texture was fire. I also tried the pineapple ginger soda and it was great! Not sure if I'll be coming back here but I enjoyed the experience.

Extremely disappointed in this resturant. As a fellow African/ Ghanaian, I was extremely excited to see an african resturant near me. I ordered the jallof rice with chicken. The food came out within 5mins( big red flag). The rice tasted nothing like jallof rice. Instead tasted like traders joes version from a few years back. The price of the meal was expensive, and didn't match the price. Usually I try to promote african food/ restaurants, but was extremely disappointed with the food here. Would not recommend eating from this place.

Amazing service. Inside is small but clean and nice paintings on the wall. Food was fun to try. My partner and I's first time trying Fufu, great experience!

Don't waste your money. Food was dry and bland. Fish was unseasoned. Hot sauce is tomato paste. Rice is old and dry.

The egusi & goat were delicious and great portion. The goat was the star & was very tender. The fufu was also good & soft. The food came piping hot and in an insulated carrier so kudos to the restaurant for that. However it really lacked in areas with the flavor profiles. I personally don't think it had an authentic taste to it, just red rice and meat. Maybe it was an off day? The plantains were good but can't really mess those up unless you don't know what you're doing. The beef was really soft (I was hoping it would be fried meat and THEN sautéed but it seemed to be boiled) many other people I know probably wouldn't complain about something like that but it really matters when it comes to Nigerian food. Also as you can see there was a lot of onions, another preference thing which I wouldn't have minded if everything else was on point. On the plus side I felt it was an actually decent sized portion for the price and being in LA. The plate was packed and heavy! Oh I forgot I also ordered the zobo which came bottled. Nothing special. - @mealswithmaka

The drinks were good, but the vibe is what really sets this place apart -- warm, cozy, and stylish, with a Brooklyn‑meets‑Inglewood energy that feels unique. Service was a bit slower than I would've liked, but they're still fairly new and the place was slammed on the Saturday I went, so it's understandable. Even with the wait, the overall experience was strong. It's the kind of neighborhood spot you're genuinely happy to have nearby.

I actually never saw that many seagulls in the city side. Parking is at Ralphs though I'm unsure if you could park there or not. There is a sign for parking for Ralphs only and several parkings are for teachers. Service and food are amazing though. The restaurant is very clean. The bathroom sink has the most narrow faucet ever. The faucet is 1 in above the sink so I don't know how people wash their hands. These are what we ordered 1 Plantain + Crab $20.00 - 3/5. I fried plantain is good with the little bit of crabs on the side. Dish is creative but overall not extraordinary. 1 Root Beer Braised Short Rib - $44.00 5/5 this is the most delicious and my favorite dish. The mashed potato is so creamy and beef is so soft. It is the most creamy and buttery mashed potato I've ever had. 1 Jollof Platter $28.00 + Berbere Shrimp $12.00 - 4/5. The spicy rice dish has enough moisture and dryness. The shrimp was grilled in creme sauce. 1 Garlic Noodle $22.00 2/5. It tastes like soy sauce noodles because I couldn't really taste the garlic part of it. 1 Plantain Sticky Cake $15.00 5/5 toffee pudding style and is amazing. Moist and creamy. Overall I would definitely come back. Service is outstanding and water is filled with bottle and we could constantly refill it.

This is not like any of the other restaurants I've visited in Berkeley or even LaBrea's Little Ethiopia. It's focused on a more luxurious experience with genuinely authentic touches. ** ELEGANTLY ETHIOPIAN ** Warm, welcoming, and elegant, the staff is highly attentive, from the ceremonial hand washing to refilling glasses, and detailed explanation of menu items & Ethiopian culture. Also, the staff gives you your space, much like you'd enjoy your meal and time in Europe. Or as a nice meal is probably honored in Ethiopia. There seems to be a lot of care put into how to enjoy a feast with proper rituals in place. Speaking of honoring, Aunt Yvette's seems to also reserve a high regard for coffee as I sneaked a peek at a Coffee Ceremony on the menu. I will have to come back and try that next time. ** THE FEAST ** When at Ethiopian, it's always about sharing a platter. So after some deliberation, me and my lunch date settled on the Vegan Combo. It has all the fun vegetable options like the Berbere Red Lentils, Cabbage & Carrots, Yellow Split Pea, and Ethiopian Potatoes. We added Chicken Tibs as our protein. However, I really wanted the Cornish Game Hen, but lost in the negotiation part so I will need to return another time to try it (along with the coffee ceremony). As you may know, there are no utensils since you eat with the Injera spongy bread and use your hands. That's why the hand washing with rose water was a nice start to our lovely brunch. We also ordered a shot each of Tej, an authentic Ethiopian honey wine. It was fizzy and had a hint of apple cider vinegar taste, but paired well with the earthy spices of our meal. To fluff up the water sitch, there was an anise, ginger, and citrus water that's like a healthy, African aqua fresca for $5. After we mopped up all the spices sauces and exotic flavors with the ever-refilled injera (spongy, Ethiopian bread) we were stuffed. It was plenty food for the two of us. ** TURN UP THE HEAT ** For fire breathing ghost chili fans and spice freaks who love testing the Scoville scale on their tongues, I highly recommend any item that has MITMITA in it. I asked for extra since I'm one of those spice junkie nut jobs who needs her capsaicin fix with certain foods. Mitmita's flavor notes don't overpower and I was able to sprinkle my meal generously with heat. **NOTE: Mitmita in the ingredients list doesn't mean it's too spicy, but if you ask for extra spicy, it'll give you a good kick in the mouth ;) Good thing there's a list of craft cocktails to squelch the heat.
